The RAM will run on battery only, I think under 100 miles. Maybe 80? I forgot what the target is. All and all an interesting time to see how each gen from the different manufacturers gives us more capabilities. I still like the Rivian but to each his/her own! It's so much fun watching the evolution.
I think you were wrong about the trailer camera. I think the RST is set up for the invisible trailer camera. You just have to buy an accessory to make it work. It has the plug for the camera by the hitch. I really want dog mode and I really want camp mode. I hope GM will upgrade the software to include these. Can't wait to get my RST... In production this week!
This is the spec that 60+% of the market will be. I would prefer the 18" just to cut down on costs because, let's face it, you're gonna eat up lots of tires.
The digital rearview mirror isn't good IMO. You have to refocus your eyes from far (driving) to 2-3 feet to focus on the mirror. I've driven an SUV with one and immediately turned it off to use as a reflective mirror
The Silverado EV is the first vehicle I would pick over Tesla. I would still wait 3-5 years and pick up one used for half the cost, but the RST looks amazing!
I would imagine if you replaced the wheels with 20's and a 70 series tire you can smooth out the ride and quiet the squeaks and rattles. 24 inch wheels are crap for comfort on any vehicle!
I love reading the comments here. Y’all are pretty cool and not Tesla obsessed that decide that the cyber truck is the best car made in the last century.
I can’t wait to order my my2025. Looking forward to the trail boss or LT also as I want one to do RV towing, etc. and I think it’ll be great. Filling the tank up here in Canada cost me way too much with my Sierra and I’m looking forward to it. Ordered a 2LT Equinox for the wife and it should be here in a few weeks once they arrive at dealerships as it has already been built. Looking forward to you Equinox review also as I th8nk it will be a great vehicle also.
Went to my Chevy dealer and they didn't seem to know anything about electric vehicles, or if they had anything now, or in the future. When I went to Ford they had an EV guy to answer any questions.
The truck could easily carry more. The limit isn't the strength of the truck. The payload is limited to keep the gross vehicle weight rating under a certain threshold.
On the lack of CarPlay and Android Auto - if the infotainment is decent, I generally don't mind. But for GM - a company that offered it for many years - to _remove_ it is just annoying. And it isn't "for customer experience" reasons, it's money, plain and simple. They want to sell you mobile data, they want to track you and sell your data.
GM was really salty that they missed the boat on aggregate location data. So they design their infotainment system to collect and sell the aggregate location data that’s why they don’t have CarPlay or android auto because when it’s on your phone, they don’t share that aggregate data with GM. their studies found out that people weren’t using built-in navigation so they eliminated the option of Apple CarPlay and android auto
I know you guys strive for nailing all the technical details. Just an fyi when comparing screen size to other cars when they are of different aspect ratios you may want to use the surface area instead. This is a problem with cell phones as well. Diagonal screen size when they are all 16x9 is fine but when they change that it becomes way less useful
I would change out the wheels to 18" for even more range. I think 24" wheels are overkill. And Sandy Munro would say GM didn't need a screw in bag in the frunk, all they had to do was use Velcro, like Tesla did. That to tonneau cover is disappointing and can easily be cut open. Trucks need a solid bed cover like the Rivian and Cybertruck have because then you can safely keep things in there without fear that they will get stolen. But why did GM copy the screen knob like on the Ford?
These trucks are rad and I wish I could even think I could afford one. They start at the low 70k price point...and the rst model cost 120k. That's some deep pocket money for a truck. Could just buy a used gas or diesel chevy pickup and even with the added maintaince and fuel it would be heaps cheaper. I own an bolt for my daily and I love it, but I also have gas car for long hauls. I could replace both with this truck, if it were just more affordable. That millage is great, and it's a swiss army knife of features.
No, folks. I'm not talking about some lame range extender that takes up valuable real estate in the bed of the truck. I'm talking about the main battery pack that is under the truck. Although I personally cannot go much more than 2 hours without a comfort break, I do understand that there are not super-chargers at every stop along the road and that some destinations are far from main highways. For those reasons alone, a towing range of about 200 miles would be far more useful than a towing range around 120 miles, which is what the Cybertruck does now. I'm not a Tesla insider, so this is just speculation on my part. I suspect that Cybertruck range is not as good as what was presented at the unveiling because the 46-80 fell short of it's intended energy density. I do expect the batteries to get better and, as a consequence, that Cybertruck range will improve. But, lets' be honest, Most people do not tow 7 ton trailers around all the time with their light duty pickups.
The suspension issues are probably more to do with those silly rims. I got rid of the 20s on my highlander because it was choppy and put on 18s and it improved it a lot, didn't know which 17s fit at the time because so few do and it was pretty new or I'd have gone 18. Love my 16 inch rims on my tahoe.
GOAT EV actual pickup to date.. Fair price to match, though - but fully loaded at $100k, would opt for this over CyberBeast for the same money (assuming it stays in production). 4WT might be the one to opt for, starting at $79k with 450 miles range; 3WT starts at ~$75k with 390 miles, which is still more than long-range Rivian R1T, Lightning and CT. 05:32 Press material says 'Standard DC fast charging (up to 350kW) on WT and RST... The RST and WT feature public DC fast charging capabilities of up to 350kW enabling approximately 100 miles of range to be added in 10 minutes based on GM estimates.' - 'The Pickup Reimagined: 2024 All-Electric Chevrolet Silverado', GM 2024-05-13
Looks cool to me. I've never been a fan of the midgate concept, but I can see the appeal. I think the daily compromises to comfort and road noise wouldn't be worth the once a year need to extend a bed. Interior quality looks standard GM. The real question is have they solved their 12v software issues.
The fix for ev trucks is big ass battery and monster charging then the gas boys can shut up or complain that it dose not have a engine for the 200th time 😂
The make it or break it for me here, is whether or not the Silverado EV RST has a Speed Governor. Just found out that the Rivian RT1 and even the R1S has speed governors/ regulators/ limiters, or however people call them. Another awesome video btw!!!
Man I was really skeptical of the Silverado EV knowing the issues GM had with Ultium in the beginning, but I think they have a really amazing product here. The only issues I see are price and charging infrastructure. 350kw charging is going to be really important when towing with a 200kWh battery pack. I think both of those will resolve over time as cell price per kwh decreases and 1000v charging becomes more common.
Watched a couple of times. Kyle and Jordan tend to be the most detailed reviewers. GM did a lot right but what were they thinking with the 24" wheels? This is a truck. That little bit of bling makes no sense and makes ride/NVH worse. Also, probably 1,000 lbs heavier than it could be (those wheels are part of the problem as they probably add 80 lbs). Best all round EV truck at the moment.
I hope this truck is a huge success. That will get ram to produce the big battery pack ram 1500 EV that they have promised in their website. The specs Ram is boasting are more payload, more range, and you know Ram will have an awesome interior. No midgate, but class leading interior, tons of range, even massaging seats on the top trim. Can’t wait for that to come out in 2 years.
I'm not a GM fan any longer, but I hope this truck brings much needed competition to the segment. I would really like to see cheaper prices but I don't think that is very likely as prices have never come down so by the time I might want to purchase something like this it will probably cost as much as my house. ☠️
Silverado looks not bad but due to its Avalanche vibe, l believe Sierra looks even better. In fact the latter has a more angular bed allowing a regular bed cover making its instantly the longest GMC Yukon, the way Kyle mentioned about making a Suburban from Silverado . However I AM loking forward for those EVs made from factory - Suburban, Yukon XL. Those should be awesome vehicles.
Nice review - now I am forced to see the work truck reviews to see the rest ;-) I belong to the large majority of truck owners that never or rarely tow and never do long distance towing. In that case I would prefer a truck weighing 2000 pounds less. A large heavy battery is a detriment to purchase price, comfort, off-road handling, road-handling, efficiency, wear & tear, and road safety. I look forward to see a review of the small battery version. I really like the gimmicks like the mid-gate and the tailgate (not just a gimmick - it is really practical).
Good to meet you Kyle. I know I broke charger etiquette protocol when I saddled up next to you. I was going to grief the non-Tesla blocking a charger LOL
I have some questions. 1.) How much control do you have over the vehicle using the app? 2.) Can I set the temperature of the vehicle from the app? 3.) Can I move the vehicle from a parking spot using the phone? Like tesla does 4.) Will Super Cruise work on city streets in the next 6 months to a year?
So its a giant electric Subaru Baja. Have to admit, I do like the rear steer. That was available on the 2002 Sierra Denali; at least in theory, could never actually find a Sierra Denali.
So many great ev choices nowadays! I have an R2 reserved and a cybertruck but the Rivian R1 and the silverado are looking damn good. Love the midgate on the silverado and the range, that's a huge win for me. But I am looking forward to the pricing on the Ram Ramcharger hybrid with 145 miles of ev range for everyday driving and the engine for when you actually want to tow.
I would much prefer a 100 kW battery pack for superior operational efficiency and being supported by ubiquitous super charging availability. Thus super charging geographic rollout further accelerated. This would make it a lighter more agile vehicle.
The biggest advantage of Apple CarPlay/Android Auto is that you can use the data plan you already pay for. GM want you to pay for, onstar, data, and super-cruise every month
I owned a 2007 Avalanche and 2013 Avalanche and had the midgate and rear window down the vast majority of the time. I never had any rattling issues, and it's the same basic stowaway system. Not sure what the rattling you guys were experiencing is.
No lane centering on non mapped roads? That’s sad. Yeah lightning lane center was nice to have when hands free lane centering wasn’t available. Which is most of the time….
Lane centerring? The stupid feature trying turn the steering wheel? Rented a vw golf to pull a 1200kg (2645lbs) trailer in snowing december, hated it. Stupid car turning the steering wheel on ice covered roads! The golf is realy good att towing, unless stupid featurs take control...
Thanks for showing us the new AVALANCH-E truck, thank the gods they didn't call it a Silverado or something dumb like that. That would show they dont understand their customer base or their legacy vehicles... Oh, wait...
I have a reservation for this, over 3 years old. Please do a program on how this truck integrates with a topper with that wierd Avalanch spoiler.. Want it for a camping vehicle and need to see if the rear seat can integrate with sleeping area/bed. Does topper actually integrate without leaks or noise?
I want a red Silverado Trail Boss styled to look like the 1997 Pontiac Rageous…and it has the same loading mechanism with Midgate like the Pontiac Rageous
Great video, I bet a lot of that bad ride over small sharp bumps is the tires... I would swap on some light smaller wheels to give more sidewall on the tire. Too bad they did not think of a camping mode, with the midgate down and all the power outputs you could do some amazing camping rig stuff in the back. My Bolt EV also powers down I think after 2 hours.. BUT.. you can trick it.. but it's a bit of a pain. Power the car down, get in the back seat.. lock the doors.. Use a stick.. Press the brake pedal, power the car up.. use the stick, press the brake pedal, and apply the parking brake, then put the car into Neutral. It will then stay on indefinitely... unless you are charging. I will not allow you to go into Neutral when the charging cable is inserted... when either AC charging or DC Fast charging.. so you have the 2 hour limit then. This technique MIGHT work on the Silverado too.... once you guys can get one for a while You could try it. Overall the truck looks amazing.. its expensive.. But hell so is a nice GMC Denali... they are in the $90K range too.
You should consider a 2 motor pickup or SUV EV challenge, range, tow capacity, turn circle, comfort and space inside, car camping, off road, trailer power. Sure the Hummer EV SUV isnt cheap even in 2x trim but it tows 12,000 lbs and is as manueverable as my Bolt EV. It is lux statement. The Silverado EV 2x is long range, less towing, not as manueverable and not easy to park. Cyber truck is long and wide and odd looking and dangerous (lose a finger). 2x is pretty sporty but tows a 1,000 pounds less than the Hummer and short range. Kind of a SUT cross between SUV and Pickup truck. Can you sleep in it without the $100 tent? Rivian has multiple dual motor versions with multiple batteries each option adding $4k price points. Might pick a price point or have a cheapest Rivian option.
For a 1st gen Silverado EV, GM has done a great job. I guess if you can afford the boat in tow, you can also afford this truck too.

I've done the same thing on a smaller scale, got out of the stock market, I just can't trust it. But it seems important now to enjoy life while you can. Sounds like you have done awesome though ! America is such a great country, hate to see it being destroyed.
Why so many people retire broke.
Chevy Silverado is going to be the benchmark for EV pickups.
😂😂😂 Garbage 🗑..New Ram will 👌
@@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS its not a bev tho it needs gas to work 😂
@@who2u333if your talking about the ram charger its apples to bananas one still use gas the other is straight bev
The RAM will run on battery only, I think under 100 miles. Maybe 80? I forgot what the target is.
All and all an interesting time to see how each gen from the different manufacturers gives us more capabilities.
I still like the Rivian but to each his/her own!
It's so much fun watching the evolution.
@@mcsike7264 that's what makes it a step above the rest🤣
Yes you said Ypsilanti correctly.
The chargers by Meijer
Please check with the engineers as to when a topper is available for the WT.
And if it will fit on the RST
I think you were wrong about the trailer camera. I think the RST is set up for the invisible trailer camera. You just have to buy an accessory to make it work. It has the plug for the camera by the hitch.
I really want dog mode and I really want camp mode. I hope GM will upgrade the software to include these. Can't wait to get my RST... In production this week!
I'd prefer this spec with 20" wheels and no glass roof. A 160-170kwh battery option to lower the weight would be nice. 9000lbs is the true CyberBEAST!
This is the spec that 60+% of the market will be. I would prefer the 18" just to cut down on costs because, let's face it, you're gonna eat up lots of tires.
There will be a 20 module battery option available.
The digital rearview mirror isn't good IMO. You have to refocus your eyes from far (driving) to 2-3 feet to focus on the mirror. I've driven an SUV with one and immediately turned it off to use as a reflective mirror
I have it in my Bolt, and it takes about 2 weeks to get used to it. Once you do, you'll hate regular mirrors
@@markrichards9792 Perhaps my presbyopia and multi-focal lenses contribute to the issue, but that's not unusual in anyone 50+
Super glad they are making these! I totes want one.
I like the Silverado, B pillar forward and the Sierra B pillar rearward!
Mid-gate, mult-flex tailgate, stow-away seats… That _is_ a lot to unfold!
You guys do the best reviews!
Keep up the good work!
Went to my Chevy dealer and they didn't seem to know anything about electric vehicles, or if they had anything now, or in the future.
When I went to Ford they had an EV guy to answer any questions.
When you get the equinox ev. We need a new charge curve analysis on the ultium 85kwh battery
So they design their infotainment system to collect and sell the aggregate location data that’s why they don’t have CarPlay or android auto because when it’s on your phone, they don’t share that aggregate data with GM. their studies found out that people weren’t using built-in navigation so they eliminated the option of Apple CarPlay and android auto
the 450 range is a must for towing frequently
I know you guys strive for nailing all the technical details. Just an fyi when comparing screen size to other cars when they are of different aspect ratios you may want to use the surface area instead. This is a problem with cell phones as well. Diagonal screen size when they are all 16x9 is fine but when they change that it becomes way less useful
We need a Tahoe version of this with actual 3rd row legroom. The 3rd row legroom is too tight in the r1s and ev9 to be useful.
There's a BT1XX (same platform) Cadillac 3-row SUV in the works. Stay tuned.
If there's one thing Cybertruck got wrong, it was the battery. A big battery has to be at least an option for people that do a lot of towing.
And it should go in the trunk hole, not the trunk bed.
Well it is, but it's very expensive, takes away bed space and isn't avaliable yet and probably not anytime soon

“if there’s one thing” 😅
Omg I’m loving these Kyle Connor vids!!! Ok now u got my attention when u said “can we talk about that, oh ok I guess not” lololol
I find the Silverado EV RST to be the most visually successful pickup track BEV and I'm a little sad that we'll rarely see it in Europe! Great car!
Plan on racing pickup trucks?
@@PumpUptheJam81 Nah, but I don't plan on being slowed down in case of any emergency.
Ct owned by nxu CEO has already done 327kws on an 800+v charger his company actually builds&got 80+miles back in just 8mins!
My house I bought in Jan 2020 was barely over 100k. Granted it only moves slowly
Not sure which trim, but at some point I suspect I'll get a Silverado EV. That and an aptera... smart power and dumb power in the same household!
9000 lbs Wow! The insurance for this will be insane since very few vehicles would survive in an accident with this.
This has always been the case with pickups vs cars.
"You led Mary". Bravo ! Range, range, range
Nice review - now I am forced to see the work truck reviews to see the rest ;-)
I belong to the large majority of truck owners that never or rarely tow and never do long distance towing.
Like tesla does
4.) Will Super Cruise work on city streets in the next 6 months to a year?
I wonder if switching to 20-22” wheels with bigger sidewall tires would help with that ride feel
Why did they put the charge port in on the back?? 😢
Looking forward to the Equinox review. Did you do a Blazer review?
Great product, native NACS would be great
2nd Gen Volt had the same "pass through screw" tire inflation kit
Would like the window and bed cover work together so that you could still have longer items out of the weather
I believe you can just fold down the bottom half, leaving the glass in place.
For me it’s the wt all day but awesome
Oh, wait...
Just need to get the price down under $80,000 to qualify for the EV tax credit. Great job GM.
This is the video I've been waiting for since I first started watching OOS. I still have a reservation but.... I have reservations.
Yes mine reservation is 2 and 1/2 years old :)
i was at an event here in miami hosted by Forza boats and man what a cool team behind a very cool product
I want a red Silverado Trail Boss styled to look like the 1997 Pontiac Rageous…and it has the same loading mechanism with Midgate like the Pontiac Rageous
Would be great to try A2Z NACS adapter to see if it would perform better, but we have to wait for the announcement from GM.
The bag thing is in my buddies Chevy Volt 2018
It is a tire inflator and sealant I believe. My Ioniq 5 had something super similar
