As an avalanche, owner and operator over the last 15 (+)years.. the folding Midgate is incredibly useful and I am stoked to see Chevy bring it back anyone who ever had that feature it’s the best!!
I’ve never been a Chevy guy, but I gotta say I’m impressed with this truck. Not only did they hit the nostalgia factor with the design but that range is really impressive
What they Need to concentrate on is making service for the likes of damage to cost almost nothing not a strike of battery protector totalling a car or a hit on rear bumper totalling a truck. These things should cost a couple grand at absolute most. A battery replacement should cost less than the engine of a gas/diesel.... As we evolve to less toxic and more abundant and attainable battery components (not lithium) they should cost almost nothing to produce and passed on to end user at a comparably low price.
Just keep in mind there is no real technology or efficiency here. They simply added as many batteries as they could to get the range. You’re paying for that in weight and from your wallet.
until you try to tow something, or drive it in the winter...both of which cuts an EV range in half...god forbid you do both together, be lucky to get out of the neighborhood.
@@zarroth its not how it works, winter just automatically cuts range in half. That's only with cheap EV such as Nissan leafs and EV without thermal battery management systems. You should start doing research instead of saying random stuff. This ev most likely have a 200kwh battery, winter won't affect the vehicle whatsoever with a pack that size, only thing that would be different would be additional energy consumed for heating the cabin,
Only reason you would buy a Cybertruck would be for FSD. And that would not be for more than 1% of sales. Tesla is now chasing Chevy in the EV truck space.
No point in buying the silverado. Silverado owners manul says no offroading. 50,000 mile less battery warranty. Over 2,000lbs heavier than a CT a lot lower efficiency. more expensive charging. GM is getting 2.0 mil per kwh and rivian is getting 2.6. Probably see mostly 150kwh charging IRL so the GM is putting range back in at 300 miles per hour. Rivian is gettng 390 miles of range an hour and the CT is at 375. The GM has hit some pretty good speeds as far as how much power is going into the truck when you find a working CCS charger with the max KWH. However Range in miles per minute added due to lack of efficiency makes that look like it was necessary to keep up with the competition. I drive a gas truck when I actuall drive a truck the rest of the time a model 3 because its AWD, runs 11s and gets 4.5 miles per kwh. The old 6.2 V8 and 6 spd modded raptor will obliterate any EV in off road and range and the model 3 is plenty quick on the street.
@@lennchadful I don't, but people want all the fancy stuff so that's what they get. They want the double screen, heated leather interior, towing controls, big ass sunroof, inverter's in the bed, long range, and the list never ends and the price tag goes up and up. I can't even find a nice new Tacoma OR for under 50k... I see TRD sports going for 55k. This is why I have a 07 Colorado with 189k miles lol
@@CoopaCoop this is exactly what happen to Cybertruck when Tesla had to settle with 320 miles of range instead of 500 miles. Despite the so called advance civilization, the rise of AI and robots, reusable rocket, space race, etc this civilization has yet to overcome battery problems especially *price* and *weight* The longer the range the heavier and more expensive the battery becomes to the extent of outweighing the benefit of longer range.
@thegunsngloryshow woahhhh the Avalanche came 2500 8.1l?! I just found out from a quick Google search because I didn't know and couldn't believe it! I wish the drivetrain was standard Chevy stuff though. I know the brakes are different and not necessarily a great design on the 1500 Avalanche vs the Silverado.
This truck must have been designed by a tradesman, or at least had one consulted on during its design. It's got everything that works just right for people in the rough work trade like construction, plumbing, contracting, woodworking etc. That tailgate that becomes a step, the built-in step in case you can't use the one in the tailgate, the removable back wall and the way it's designed to stow everything away neatly - the glass panel and the seatbelt clips - the rear power outlets, the switchable rearview mirror.....everything's just so useful and functional, and keeps away neatly when not needed.
I LOVE MY AVALANCHE! I am SOOO excited to see it reborn as the EV RST. With the window still in but the midgate down, you can have a tonneau cover on, (like the older Avalanche) and have the cab sealed and still haul over 8 foot long material with the tailgate up.
@JaydenRose We will likely never see the Avalanche come back since this IS the Avalanche with the Silverado badge... unfortunately. Outside of this being an EV, there isn't really any difference between the two. It's funny a lot of people hate on the Avalanche, but love this "Silverado" I love my 2011 Avalanche. Pry it from my cold dead hands.
I work as an engineer that makes the batteries for this truck and the rest of GM’s EV line up. It’s so cool to see you review something I’m a part of making as I’ve been watching you for a while.
@@patriotbarrow Unlike Tesla that uses cylindrical battery cells, GM uses flat rectangular battery cells that allow for easier stacking within modules of the battery pack. This design choice to use flat cells within modules also allows for easier replacement of cells within modules of the battery pack, resulting in a significantly decreased cost of battery/module replacement. I mention Tesla specifically because I’ve only seen TH-cam videos of teardowns of their battery packs. I think both the shape of our cells and quantity that we can fit with a module also are the reason for the impressive range of the truck.
@@Bigboiballinmemes Are the rectangular batteries you use similar to prismatic batteries? And why do you think Tesla chooses to keep using a cylindrical design? Is it better for cooling?
Maybe you can help here then! If the range is 25% better than the next EV truck, but the battery is 80% larger, Wouldn't this actually be the least efficient EV truck ever produced to date?
Impressive Range. I’d love a smaller truck with this range because my parking spot is only 16 ft. Probably will have to wait for Solid State batteries.
dang... im genuinely impressed. i think this is the first truck ive seen in at least 15~20 years that is designed to be used as a tool and not just a taller car to blind people with at night, and its an EV no less. good job gm, im actually somewhat interested in picking one up once prices drop down from selling your firstborn levels
Its got the worst efficiency, absolute shortest battery warranty. I ike EVs but it;s the last one I'd be seen in or ever own. I'd drive a gas truck if I needed to tow that far.
@@TylerMaxton The Hummer has the worst at 1.5 mi per kwh, The silverdildo is at 2.0 mi per kwh that is not towing. TFL towed with one along side a gas F150 with the same trailer. Yeah, this looks really useful and fun! Like that the interior is pretty simple, had physical buttons. Wonder how it would actually fare with regular heavy use.
As a contractor, I liked how the Chevy trucks look but their bed sizes were unusable for me. But having the ability to transport 2x10's really makes me give this truck a strong look! This is as good as it gets for contractors. Shy of a work van.
@@JoniAntonio no idea if it will actually make it to market, but have you seen the prototype electric RAM that has a tunnel through most of the vehicle so you can carry things up to 18 feet long if they are narrow (beams, poles, etc.) pretty interesting idea.
It's not, It has the worst efficiency of any of the trucks. the most battery cells with the shortest warranty and the worst battery track record as far as MFG go, it weighs in at a curb weight that is the same as a 3/4 ton diesel while towing less weight than a gas 1/2 ton. I'll get a used 2WD diesel to tow lizzos food truck from NY to LA in January and ALSO get a used BETTER EV to do normal real life where it's charged every morning and I can get home at the end of the day to plug in with enough left. Real life isn't a daily range test.
Seems like this came out of nowhere! I’m not normally a truck person, but this is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for. Excellent range and charging speed, normal-looking design, HUD, digital rear-view mirror, huge bed capacity (!), DEDICATED HVAC CONTROLS - it’s actually perfect.
Don't forget the part pertaining to the total carrying capacity of the truck: 1300 lbs which is less than a unibody compact Hyundai Santa Cruz 4 cylinder banger. 😂😂😂

I remember when we had the Chevy Avalanche when I was a kid? We'd take the back off when we went on long road trips, and since the window didn't come out, we'd put the bed cover down and sleep on a thin air mattress. Man, those were the days. They were so close I'd love to do that again with my family sometime.

Fruck on the F150 has a Charger port that you can charge your own F150 as you drive for few more miles. What I seen on a video 3 times. Wish I copied it to upload it.
Problem is, Chevy ruined the Avalanche with ugly plastic cladding, and they became a laughingstock. They took the cladding off later, but the damage was done. It was a shame. I’m very happy Chevy is bringing back that feature!
I love the fact that the battleground for electric vehicle innovation has come down to a competition between electric trucks and how useful/versatile in real world situations they are, pretty dope

@@MiaSoreryOF but you’re missing the point; you’re right, it is a pissing contest to get trucks to do more of what the vast majority of people don’t care about, but in the process it pushes the limits of what’s capable in an electric vehicle, forcing innovation and advancement and creative solutions that then makes all electric vehicles better with time. I wouldn't say it's made like an "actual truck". I've been waiting to see exactly that, but the sail panel makes it more of an Avalanche than a regular Silverado (or F150/Ram1500). How about we just give it a normal bed that can accept normal truck accessories and be used by a contractor/mobile tech/etc, the option to not have that giant rear seat (don't need to haul the kiddies around when you're working), and loose some of the high profit margin extras - then we'll have an "actual truck". If they could put this tech into basically a normal Silverado I might have an option that could replace my 3.0 duramax. But I do understand that most people buy 1/2 tons, and ESPECIALLY EVs as lifestyle vehicles these days instead of working trucks. So hopefully in a few years we'll actually get to a viable EV work truck platform. I figure I've got about 3 more years on my current truck ('22, 50K now, usually change at 100k) so maybe the timing will work ou.

Out of all the electric trucks, this is the one I've been most excited for. A truck is a tool and it should be used as such. It has to earn it's keep and the Silverado can!

I wouldn't buy an EV until they start to level off tech wise. Right now every 18-24 months EVs are getting almost twice as better as their counterparts. Lease, it might be a little more expensive but after 18-24 months you can trade it in and get something better and newer.

A fool and his money are soon parted. Save yourself a lot of wasted money and heartache, buy a real truck, this is a pos built on lies like ALL EV's The market is dying for a reason, EV's are not viable with current, or near future technology (As in we are decades away from EV's even being a viable consideration) If this fake industry does not crash and end soon, we will soon hit critical mass where the power grid fails all around the country and you can't keep food safe, or AC for the elderly/sick, and then you will pay astronomical prices for electricity. These are irrefutable facts, we do not generate enough electricity now, the power grid is in shambles and failing now, and we are CLOSING down critical power plants at an alarming, increasing rate. We would need decades and billions of dollars to rebuild and upgrade/expand the power grid, and the construction of a new power plant ever year for decades to even make this EV joke a viable option.
This new Electric Avalanche is so cool, but pretty expensive too. I owned an Avalanche for 14 years and yes it had the same midgate design when it was built in 2003, everything was the same as this new truck. That feature alone was revolutionary. I could easily slide a long couch into the bed and further into the cab and still shove things between it and the closed tailgate. There was nothing that Avalanche couldn't haul. I once drove over 40 miles to pick up unfinished wood flooring, slid it into the truck with the midgate down and drove the entire load home in the pouring rain without getting any of the wood flooring wet as you could leave the bed covers on and the rear window in place with the midgate folded. Loved my Avalanche.
Most of gasoline/diesel cars make that with no effort, even in cold climates, when EV cars lose 30%-40% of the range. Talking about cold climate, some EV cars have resistor based heating, and others have a heat pump, which is more efficient, and takes less energy from the battery, which means more mileage. There are pros and cons, but I'm from Finland, and I want to try an EV.
Range can be nuts in any EV if you double the size of the pack like the Silverado EV does. 200kWh - Silverado EV 123kWh - Cybertruck 106kWh - Rivian 98kWh - F-150 EV
@@SEBTECHDIY It's actually 212kWh, for a fill up on the road of between $80 and $106 depending on the station. So basically they matched the range and cost of a gas truck, until it's cold outside and that cost goes up by 30%.

Chevy did this 20 years ago with the avalanche but failed so badly at marketing this feature that our car expert host thinks it's a new thing on the Silverado EV.

Regarding cost to charge: 13:01 shows price of $0.48 USD per kwh (!) $0.48 per kwh * 200 kwh pack = $96 USD for a FULL Charge. (0-100%, rarely something anyone does in an EV) Seems expensive...but remember, you can charge at home for less than 10x the price. Here in Ontario, it would be equivalent of $3-5 USD.
Here in cali, it would only be 1/3 of that cost. Plus they were driving at highway speeds which is only about 50-60mph, where as a normal freeway in cali is 80-85. This truck would get like 300 miles in cali.
@@untasty4215I don’t think you would have a 35% loss in range by going slightly faster, I own a Chevy EV and we get the advertised range of 259mi going 75mi/hr. Also it depends on the station you charge at the Electricfy America. near me is .32/Kw and GM EVs give you a $500 EV charging credit with EVgo when you purchase one, we are at 2 yrs of ownership with our Bolt and we still have $340 left. I think like you said it’s situational, if you can get really cheap electricity form your home and live an area with good conditions it’s a great buy especially with the tax credit, but as soon as your price per kW at home is like near .20 it starts to get expensive
The price makes this a lot less exciting than it felt to watch the video. It’s $96,395, which is over the $80K limit for the $7,500 tax credit. This is the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink version so maybe the more basic trims will put it within range. $72,500 would still be a stretch for people like myself, but coupled with no gas costs nor oil changes and other forms of maintenance needed it could work. Depends on charging costs, insurance premiums, and the more frequently needed new tires due to the weight. All that aside, this thing is awesome. The fold down back cab wall is brilliant. So much thought went into getting maximum use out of this truck. The price is justified by its function rather than being jacked up by essentially useless bells and whistles.

LFP technology in smaller EVs are getting up to 3000 cycles of life to 80%. Thats a battery life of nearly 450k miles with NMC, and 90% of it can be recycled at the end of its life. The sale panels on the side, actually help air get trapped in the bed creating a what’s called a Hydro cell. Air then flows over that Hydro cell over the tailgate. See an older MythBusters episode that explains this very well and has examples. Also other trucks do have that removable back wall. The avalanche I believe had that , but it is really really cool.
I've had my 2007 Cadillac EXT since 2009... It has 230,000 miles on it. I love the truck... This EV is what I've been waiting for... Looks similar to my truck, but upgraded everything and finally a realistic usable range on an EV! This is tempting!
I loved the early Avalanche, my family had a 2002.. Thing ran amazing up to 200,000 miles and finally got traded in, in flawless mechanical condition with zero rust... ( hind sight, I wish we kept it lol )
I own an avalanche, and I use the midgate often enough. It would be great if the original ones had this 60/40 split though, with the EV they listened to the customers that own and love these, you can drop part of the back seat AND a section of the midgate if you leave the glass and crossbar there, then you can seat three. Some avalanches had the bench front seat and can still have three people though, very rare option, like the HD Avalanche
I don't usually usually care about trucks but I am watching this video and seeing the features they've put into this vehicle, I'm really amazed. So many good things plus that big battery. This might be the best truck to live with, if you actually need a truck.

The ability to extend your bed length by folding the rear passenger seats down is probably one of BEST advancements in truck design/usability to date! They should add that same feature to a gas truck and then I might buy one lol.
I'm afraid to see the recharge time on a low battery? Days? 294kw from that special charger.... Geeze, that's massive, can't be good for the battery. And it needs it's own power plant, lol
When I worked at GM, my impression was that making vehicles was the side business. This Chevy is an engineering marvel, what a change after bankruptcy…and the design is beautiful.
That bed extension feature is not new. My dad’s 2001 Avalanche has it, you don’t have to fold the head rests tho and you also have the option of leaving the rear glass on and just fold the divider. That coupled with the fact that the bed of the Avalanche was covered with 3 panels allows you to include the bed as part of the interior of the truck. Rare uses for it I guess but I remember taking a mattress to our cabin in the mountains during a storm. I laid on it for part of the trip, avoided it getting wet and still enjoyed the AC lol

You correctly attribute the "sail panel" to the older Chevy Avalanche (also called a flying buttress on the even older Pontiac Fiero), but seem not to remember that the Avalanche pioneered the step bumper we see in todays GM pickups, as well as the Midgate cargo extension feature. In the Avalanche (also seen in the Cadillac Escalade EXT and the Hummer H2 SUT), the folding hard tonneau allowed the midgate to fold while the back glass remained in place.. which allowed over 8 feet of covered and weatherproof storage (real handy for lumber shopping in the rain, and less cavernous in the H2, obviously). I am really gratified and appreciative that your review and enthusiasm is sparking new conversations about these innovative features, because I feel they were under appreciated when they were originally released to the public.
The cybertruck was supposed to release in 2021 with 500 miles between charges with starting price of around 40k what a joke. It is selling for more than 100k today
Pretty similar to other electric trucks, just can't beat the laws of physics and still make it a useful truck design. Pushing lots of air out of the weigh and pulling that massive battery around.

Silverado: 205kWh battery, 440 mile range. 2.14kW/mi efficiency. (500 miles would indicate 2.43kW/mi, while 460 = 2.2) Rivian R1T ER: 149kWh battery, 400 mile range. 2.7kW/mi efficiency. F150 Lightning ER: 131kWh battery, 320 mile range. 2.44kW/mi efficiency. Sure, strap a larger gas tank to an ICE truck and it can go further, but it also takes longer to fill. I’d rather get to the point we can do 500 miles on a 100kW battery. I’m really impressed at the Silverado, but the lack of CarPlay and the price of the thing is insane. Anyone can throw a bigger fuel tank or battery in a vehicle, battery, weight saving, and aerodynamic efficiency would be better improvements.
I want more midsize trucks with midgates. Seems unnecessary on a full size Silverado that can already manage a full length bed, but would make a lot of sense on a Colorado/Ranger/Tacoma. I generally feel like sub-6ft beds defeat the purpose of a truck, but something like that could actually justify a short bed and let you get the compact value out of a smaller truck without sacrificing usability. What I really want to see is a midsize with a midgate and a camper shell setup that lets you pass through.

I missed the nostalgia part. Where does it come in again?
Just keep in mind there is no real technology or efficiency here. They simply added as many batteries as they could to get the range. You’re paying for that in weight and from your wallet.

I work as an engineer that makes the batteries for this truck and the rest of GM’s EV line up. It’s so cool to see you review something I’m a part of making as I’ve been watching you for a while.
I'm sure you've torn down batteries from competitors. How do GM's fare against, say, a Tesla battery pack?
@@patriotbarrow
Unlike Tesla that uses cylindrical battery cells, GM uses flat rectangular battery cells that allow for easier stacking within modules of the battery pack.

That range is nuts.

I think like you said it’s situational, if you can get really cheap electricity form your home and live an area with good conditions it’s a great buy especially with the tax credit, but as soon as your price per kW at home is like near .20 it starts to get expensive
@@Solkre82same in PA
I heard they were going to be affordable starting at 40k
You have to replace those batteries every 110k miles or ten years. And a battery like that could cost 30k. Have fun

110k miles would be 250 charges at 440 miles per charge, NMC Li-ion technology like in this truck are passing 80% capacity up to 1000 cycles. LFP technology in smaller EVs are getting up to 3000 cycles of life to 80%. Thats a battery life of nearly 450k miles with NMC, and 90% of it can be recycled at the end of its life.
These are all easily findable numbers for anyone with google.
And 1 month into winter in Canada as it hits -45C and this truck will be completely useless...I will say this - the 2024 "all new" Chevy EV Avalanche looks AMAZING! (yes, I know it's the Silverado, but with this midgate, and the rear sails and tonneau coveer it's basically an Avalanche) And I LOVED my Avalanche
Ok the “So much room for activities “ line got me that was funny!!

Now... I'm NOT a truck owner, nor really a fan of trucks, but... I CAN see the extremely valuable/useful features this truck has on the work/practicality/daily use side... WELL THOUGHT OUT!!! So... PROPS TO GM on this vehicle! 👍

Watching the midgate bit made me miss my 2002 Avalanche Z-71. Loved that truck.
Aaahh!! They brought back the Avalanche midgate!!!!!
Hence why ill NEVER call this truck a Silverado...
They're finally making trucks that actual truck drivers might be interested in. Imagine where we'll be in 5 years.
This is the truck that turned a regular car driver into an E-truck driver. Never wanted a truck until now & I never thought about buying an electric vehicle until now. Even as a Tesla factory employee... Good job Chevrolet
Phx (Tempe) here, Welcome! Not a truck guy, but HUD with all the other features is nice.
Both the Volt and Bolt had the discharge/regen display.
And the Spark
The midgate is something I'm so happy we're seeing come to market. Its been on so many concepts, and makes the bed a lot more usable for actual truck things.
What do you mean, this EXACT same MIDGATE has been on the Chevy AVALANCHE for 20 years, CHEVY MARKETING SUCKS!
Chevy Avalanche glow up it looks like. Super impressive vehicle and makes me excited for the future. I think practical engineering did some math as to how the chevy silverado also is the best in its class towing range?
Shame about the CCS port but im sure that'll be changed next year
Literally an avalanche… love it!

Very nice now bring back the chevy volt but build it like you built the first gens. That car was a modern day work of art. Reliable, great mpg, comfortable, and perfect in every way.
The Cybertruck drawing is just a pice of art!
Kinda realistic to me

Wow...i dont even drive a truck but that back paneling folding in like that is very cool. I am sure that will come in very handy when hauling super long items and even just for extra cargo. Very impressed with the Silverado EV
It's the Electric version of Avalanche/Escalade EXT. I have owned several of both. Currently have an Escalade EXT. Most functional trucks ever! Wait until you add a tent! Camping in this thing is so comfortable!
Man I'm just excited for the Aptera... Having a huge battery is not a solution, having a lightweight aerodynamic car, is. 1000 miles range with 40 miles from solar per day. Love it
Man, I'm just excited for my new bicycle. Having a car is not a solution 🤪. (in all serious, useful mileage from solar sounds insane).
i thought i was dreaming of getting a Cybertruck. Now i dream of this! I just can't belive the possibility's with this truck. Taking down that midgate makes it a amazing camper! This is why i love USA! Wish this car comes to Norway some day
The ability to extend your bed length by folding the rear passenger seats down is probably one of BEST advancements in truck design/usability to date! They should add that same feature to a gas truck and then I might buy one lol.
Think every single EV truck manufacturer is sweating bullets after watching this video. Great range.
Never wanted a truck in my life, until now.
I'm afraid to see the price on this after seeing the $120K Hummer lol
I'm afraid to see the recharge time on a low battery? Days?
294kw from that special charger.... Geeze, that's massive, can't be good for the battery. And it needs it's own power plant, lol
96k+ all fess and taxes
Great review can’t wait to see the towing test
When I worked at GM, my impression was that making vehicles was the side business. This Chevy is an engineering marvel, what a change after bankruptcy…and the design is beautiful.
That truck was designed by some amazing engineers! I’m very, very impressed!
Did he make any claims that the bed extension feature was new? Not sure who you're replying to
What's the difference if it's new or not, I'm not a Chevy fan, but it's a pretty good idea and it doesn't matter if it's new or not.
You can leave the glass there too IIRC.
@@Fullmetalseagul I guess I phrased it too direct. Wasn’t replying to anyone. Just thought it was not common knowledge and wanted to share. Would be pretty cool if all pickups had this feature.
"even after driving 100 miles, we still have 100% charge" ... simply proves the range computer doesn't work.
It's funny, my F150's fuel gauge needle doesn't drop below the full line until I put at least 100 miles on it, either.
Say, you don't think the automakers are up to some shenanigans, do you? 🙄
what? since it was a bit of a complex sentence ill break it down for you. He said that even though their pick up truck has driven 100 miles it still has more range than fully charged trucks of other vehicles. he didnt say that the pickup truck still has 100 % charge
2mi/kWh is better than I expected, but not what I'd call efficient.
Pretty similar to other electric trucks, just can't beat the laws of physics and still make it a useful truck design. Pushing lots of air out of the weigh and pulling that massive battery around.
@@MrJbart1981 well there's only so much you can do when the front end is quite literally a flat wall 3-4ft high. There just aren't any trucks with sloped front ends or where the hood goes down to the fender.
The Telo pickup is probably the closest to that design ethos but it's an unproven startup and the vehicle is years out at best.
$110 to charge it @ 0.48/kwh at that charger
and its gonna take about 45 minutes to charge cuz they dont charge at full speed for the last 25%
that back wall is gonna bust through if any weight slides foreward in the back
That's why we should stay far away from trucks and suv's as a daily. Unfortunately it is a trent to have a big car. Really don't know why, I have a Renault Zoe (VW Golf size) and it fits 99% of my needs. And for transportings Wheelchairs, maybe a van is also a nice solution.
Only in America! Helluva truck helluva range but at 2 miles/KWh with a massive battery it’s analogous to a big gas guzzling V8. I think the latest Tesla Model 3 does circa 4.5 miles/KWh!
This is so much better than the Cybertruck it's ridiculous
But the Cybertruck will probably stiil sell more cause of how different it is
The ramp up for production of the Silverado EV RST is going to be VERRRRY slow. Just look at the Cadillac Lyriq as an example.
It will sell more because the Cybertruck can be sold for a profit because the battery is not monstrously huge. GM probably doesnt want to sell a lot of these because of the huge loss they make on every one. The Cybertruck could have had 450 of 500 miles easily but Tesla already is battery contrained and that large of a battery is just not profitable
@@tuurschellekens5385 the lower trim 3wt version still has 50 more miles range than the cybertruck and $5k cheaper. GM could make a pack the same size as the cybertruck also since they have near identical efficiency
@@JD-yx7be If you would actually calculate the efficiency, you would know it doesnt nearly have the same pack. The top model has around 230 kWh and 24 modules, the 3wt has 20 modules so that makes it around 190 kWh for just shy 400 miles of range. If you gave the silverado the same size pack as the cybertruck with this efficiency it would get less than 250 miles
@@tuurschellekens5385 the cybertruck doesn't meet epa range unless you drive like a 90 year old granny. The chevy can meet it driving like a normal person, This video proved it. If chevy matched the cybertruck sized battery they can probably sell it for $10k less.

Silverado: 205kWh battery, 440 mile range. 2.14kW/mi efficiency. (500 miles would indicate 2.43kW/mi, while 460 = 2.2)
Rivian R1T ER: 149kWh battery, 400 mile range.
Wow, Wow, Wow, an Absolutely Amazing accomplishment of 460-miles on a single full charge!
Well done, Sir (Chevrolet, too)!
5:40 or so, wow. Pretty impressive. they've done quite a bit with this one. Very nice.
