So basically to prevent breakage just ✨don’t move✨

    Wash hair less
Microfiber towel/ Cotten t shirt and no rubbing
    No tight hairstyles
    Use satin scrunchesc
    Protective sleep styles
Soft bristle brushes And wide tooth combs
Keep hair conditioned in between washes

I had COVID that lasted around 10 days. At first, I believed I was fine until I began to notice a loss of more hair than normal. Following some research, I've come to realize it’s from the stress my body had during that time and also due to the shampoo that I was using. So I began doing yoga and meditation daily and changed my shampoo and conditioner to littleextraa cooconion anti hair fall kit. And today I don't face any hairfall.
Thanks for this video! I'm feeling so much better.

I watch all of your videos, so, I bought the pureology strength cure line, I've not had it long enough to know if it's helping yet, and I kinda feel that my hair is past the point of no return right now, so I have to get it cut in 2 days. Then on April 2nd I'm going back for highlights and lowlights, should I also add in some olaplex once I do that? OR do you think that I might have to much damage to get it colored? By using these cheap pink Amazon combs on your hair you undo a lot of your great haircare just by combing your hair with them.
Combs and Brushes need to be of excellent quality!
Good quality combs need to be hand-sawn, handcut and hand polished so that they have perfectly rounded and burr-free teeth which will be gentle to hair and scalp. Cheap industrial made combs - like the ones you showed in the video - are injection molded from plastic and do have jagged imperfections - often invisible to the eye - which will cut or shred your hair as well as cause split ends.
The same goes for brushes. Avoid brushes with ball tips. Most cheap brushes have ball tips. They will snag the hair and rip it out.
Most ball tipped brushes have ball tips that are of a different material from the brush. Over time, the two materials will gradually deform and separate, so you get cracks and wrinkles at the edge of the ball. Those cracks and wrinkles will catch hair and cause damage. Eventually, the two materials separate enough that just running the brush through your hair is enough to dislodge the ball.
Next problem, most ball tipped brushes are injection molded from plastic. This means there are thin ridges at the mold edge. Just like on a plastic comb, those ridges can be sharp enough to cut or shred your hair, causing damage. Depending on where the mold edges are, there could be none of these near your hair, or lots.
Another common sort of ball tipped brush has bristles that are wedged into place, either on a flexible pad, or a small bristle anchors a larger one on a hard plastic surface. Hair can get caught between a bristle and the flexible pad, and hair can get caught between the small bristle and the larger one.
Invest into a good quality hairbrush! It may be quite expensive but will last a lifetime if you take good care of it. Buy something likeKoh-I-Noor high-quality hand made Italian Brushes or the high-quality Kent Brushes made in the UK.
For high quality combs I recommend the German Hercules-Sägemann brand which has been making handmade premium combs made out of 100% vulcanised natural
material for over 160 years. The high-quality combs are hand-sawn, hand-cut and hand polished and will last a lifetime.
And wear a silk hair cap at night!

Hi Abbey! Love your videos! I gotta say, for all ladies that started bleaching their hair - bleach somehow increases your hair porosity. Having said that, though I have straight hair I tried some conditioners and masks dedicated for curly hair and, DAMN! My hair never looked better. I think that’s because conditioners dedicated to curly hair have a lot of humectants and emollients. If you have bleached hair or damaged hair you need to make sure you have the balance of all. Proteins, emollients and humectants.

You really did your research! LOL. I love that you mention water as damage inflicting. A lot of people don't realize that. What I find confusing though, is how do we prevent the damage of washing while keeping the scalp clean? So many people nowadays use the dry shampoos and oils daily to avoid 'washing', but then that leads to buildup of product on the scalp that ends up clogging the follicles! It becomes overwhelming to form a hair strategy while thinking of all of this. LOL. Thanks again - your hair is beautiful!

Have you looked into the effects of dimethicone (or silicones in general) in haircare? Personally have very similar hair type to yours. I’ve eliminated almost all silicones from my hair care products, but I noticed many of the products you recommend do have silicones. Especially with finer hair, silicones can easily cause a lot of build up that weighs the hair down. Would love to see you look into this and potentially do a video!!

    • @Andrea-dm4gd
      @Andrea-dm4gd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +24

most silicones are modified to not build up in the hair and are easily cleaned, water soluble, and light weight. Stop letting marketing companies convince you you need to pay 20 dollars for a mediocre conditioner but some how is worth it bc it doesn't have silicones. Buy high quality products for fine hair and ignore the silicone demonization is a marketing strategy/scam.

For me, I have Thick/heavy/wavy/frizzy/huge/heavily layered/bleached/graying/Unmanageable tremendous mop of hair and if I don’t use sulfites to shampoo with then build up from products does not get removed. I find a mandatory otherwise I am washing my hair five times which defeats the purpose. Silicones smooth & protect my hair from breakage & Splitting and make it more manageable. I tried to do without but I can’t. That’s my two cents for all it’s worth! I wish I had other options.

Well, it turns out I was over doing it on the protein and that’s what was causing my breakage. And most products have protein in it and we just don’t know. So maybe that is your case as well.

TIP if you want to prevent additional mechanical breakage, but your hair gets tangled really easily: apply oil or serum to your Jaír before you brush it out! This will make it easier for your hair to detangle, and plus, the product will get distributed throughout your hair as you brush it out!

I have butt length slightly wavy, mostly virgin hair. I dyed it once semi permanently without bleaching, and since the faded hair color looks rather similar to my natural color, I just let it grow out. So my ends are not virgin, the rest of my hair is and will remain that way.
Although it looks shiny and feels really silky when brushed and my scalp is really healthy, I have issues with seeing flyaways and split ends really far up. If it was just the ends, that would be way easier to deal with, but I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong with my mids and how to fix it. I've tried Olaplex 3 and after one bottle (I have a wash day once every two weeks and could easily go longer in between if I used powder or dry shampoo, I just haven't gotten around to buying or making any yet). I'm honestly not seeing a difference, but maybe it's too early to tell? I'd love to know what your experience was in that regard. How long did it take for you to feel a noticeable difference in hair health? I also use the Olaplex 7 hair oil and really love how light it is and how shiny and smooth it makes my hair without making it oily.
I do wear my hair in braids or buns almost exclusively now, and try my best to not make tight buns as it also hurts my scalp, not just the hair itself. Sometimes I have to though as my nursing job requires my hair to be as neatly out of the way as possible, and a bun is just the quickest and easiest way to do that in the morning. I don't use bobby pins or hair elastics with metal clips, only one long hair pin. I've tried a bonnet, but mine is not well fitting and that makes it really uncomfortable, or I just lose it at night. I think a new bonnet and silk or satin pillowcases would certainly be good investments, but apart from that, I just need more ideas. I really don't want to cut it if at all possible since I want to grow it really long and I have had bad experiences with hairdressers.

If Olaplex is so "great," why, after on wash of shampoo, would it make my semi decent hair feel like straw and become excessively more damaged? Seriously, it was like 75% worse than what it was. I about cried, thinking all of my hair was going to break off.
I went from trying to tend to semi damaged hair to having to do all sorts of other methods to repair the excess damage caused. I'm so happy I purchased it from Sephora and was able to return it the very next morning.

i heard in a video last week ((watched way too many hair related videos, might have been one of yours, might have been a professiona, might have been a fairy mermaid on a unicorn, who knows?) that basically the theory that split ends travel up the hair if not trimmed immediatly, whilst plausible, has not really been proven or disproven yet (in the sense it has never been accuratly tested) and this person believed it could be an old wives' tale. So, I have a wedding i have to attend to next year, i'm growing my hair out for that event (my hair is in great shape, practically virgin so i can get away with cutting once a year) but i have this grown out bangs that hasn't been cut when i chopped my hair off earlier this month and whilst it's not falling apart it feels stiff and dry at the end (probably heat damage) so i have mesured the length of this damage (approx. 5.5cm/2inch) and the length of my hair at that point (the longest part is exactly on the top side of my collarbone when pulled taught) and i know that my hair grows pretty much exactly 1cm per month. Even though i'm taking great care in replenishing my hair a much as possible because it's more tangled and holds less of a curl (wet styled curls), i'm still gonna let it do its thing and see if, by taking proper care of it, it's possible to live with somewhat damaged ends without it burning off over time

Hi! I love your videos and this one was really great! But you mentioned sitting in the sun and UV rays as being one source of breakage but you never circled back about it with a product that protects against that. I think it would be really helpful to research UV protection for hair that doesn’t weigh it down but really works!
