Can you do a series on hair coloring? I’ve never had to color my hair but I know the day is coming and I know nothing about it. It’s like a foreign language. I’d like to know what to ask the hair stylist… for someone with dark brown hair who will eventually need to hide grays. Or maybe do a video with a hair colorist? Thanks!

I'd also like for you to talk about using henna as a hair dye. I've been using henna; it gives a beautiful magenta hue and is a natural plant. From what I understand, it's actually good for your hair.

Y’know, I’m just going to put it out there that you don’t have to color your hair- gray is beautiful too. Do you, obviously!! Beautiful is how you feel.
I’ve been salt n’ pepper since my late teens. After years (and literal thousands of dollars), I just embraced the gray. And it looks great. And my hair is healthier.

I’m a dark brunette who started going gray at age 12 (early greys runs in the family) I get balayage done like once or twice a year. I try not to get too much bleach done so I’ll go in for root touch ups or just my natural color all over, the balayage helps blend the gray hair

@phigmentor You are 100% right! Gray is beautiful and works on people more than they realize. My gray is more on the back of my head so I don't see it. I just use the henna to have some color. One day, I will embrace the gray!

Hair training as well as scalp oiling caused me to have SEVERE dermatitis that lead to horrendous hair fall. I went to a dermatologist and learned I simply needed to wash more after using a prescribed shampoo for 8 weeks. I also started following you and started implicating your other tips. I now have tailbone length, healthy hair. thank you for all that you do in pursuit of hair science!🙏 😊

@@vannessacrispin5140that's a phrase for people with dry scalp who can prolong the time between washes. If you have oily scalp you need to wash more often otherwise you might get scalp issues - I wash every other day and I tried that nonsense of hair training (I washed only 2x a week instead of 3-4x)and no sulphates and my hair started to fall out like crazy bc my scalp wasn't properly clean. Not to mention the itchy scalp 🙈

    • @justmeiam4996
      @justmeiam4996 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

@@vannessacrispin5140it's that you wash your hair less- it works if you have dry scalp.Lets say instead of every other day,you wash every 3rd day and after while the hair should get oily less quickly.Oily scalp needs washing more often (and SLS)otherwise it's not clean properly and you might risk hair loss and scalp issues.I had both 😑🙈

I am new to your channel and I have curly hair, I am so happy you are talking about washing more often, because in the curly community it is such a big thing to go days and days without washing while putting on more products, I never followed the curly girl method because it didn't work for me with having hard water I wash my hair every day and my hair loves it and I feel clean and fresh, I just learned to use a minimum amount of products to make my morning routine simple, it takes me max maybe 15 minutes, I use the Pantene curly line and clarify once a week with Pantene volume and body followed by a deep conditioner once a week.

Thank you for being real with this video and not acting like those influencers or hair stylist I see on TikTok all the time who just feel like they have this moral superiority, and demonize things like coloring or using heating tools on your hair, and who says that basically you can't have amazing hair if you do any of those things, because it is a fact people use them, and will keep using them! I am someone who uses heating tools because I personally prefer how I look with straight or wavy hair rather than with my natural curls (and yes, before anyone says anything, I've tried the CGM, and I know how to style my curls, I just don't like it on me personally), so it's nice to see for once someone say that you can still have beautiful, healthy hair even when coloring your hair or using heat

I’m 10 yrs older than you, so I remember when “sulfates are evil” messaging started. It started with curly hair (and I have curly hair so I was very early on the bandwagon). Absolutely brands are going to start (or rather, go back to) using proper shampooing agents. There’s this complex dance between brand marketing and consumer demands…we danced our way to shampoos that don’t cleanse, and now we’ll just dance our way back LOL.

Thank you for the hair training admission. I have said for years and years; if hair training (which is scalp) were real, people with an oily face would "train" their face to not be oily. Oil glands are oil glands, and the way they produce oil is innate -- not trained. Believe me. I have had oily skin (with severe acne) and oily hair my whole life, and I am 56. The smell of people's "trained" hair when it hasn't been washed for days makes me want to puke when I am in line behind them at the grocery or a department store. Yuck!

Washing my hair with a double shampoo method 2x a week which I got from your channel, has really helped my hair texture and my longevity and frizz. I have wavy frizzy hair that is growing out from previous bleach damage and dye processing. I used to wash one time a week because I don't ever get oily, just dry, but my dryness and dandruff (non-medically diagnosed) has been improved majorly because of shampooing more often and more thoroughly. I am not saying I will never ever process my hair again but for now I am avoiding bleach like the plague and I dyed my hair once in early August and I don't want to process it again until about a year from now.

I switched to natural cosmetics 6 years ago and also tried hair training again and again for a very long time. I was advised to only air dry because of my waves. However, it took 4 hours for my hair to dry.
My scalp always itched terribly, was slightly yellowish and I had red patches. Sometimes it was also slightly crusty. I also started to lose more and more hair. The dermatologist said I should use baby shampoo because I have a sensitive scalp and the hair loss was hormone-related. I actually tried baby shampoos for almost a year but it didn't get any better.
At some point I thought that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result would not work.
I then did exactly what was not recommended.
I started washing my hair with a stronger shampoo every two days again and my scalp became less and less itchy. After a few months my scalp looked healthier and healthier. I had no red patches, the yellowing was gone and it was even shiny.
I also started using silicones again. I didn't color but not blow drying and no protection from the sun totally ruined it.
I also had to cut the ends every 2 months because they were so damaged. Now I couldn't even go to the hairdresser for 5 months without the ends being extremely rough, broken and split.
In addition, so many new baby hairs are growing everywhere and they are so much thicker where nothing has grown for years. I'm so excited to see where this journey will take me in two years' time. 💗

I use a regular shampoo or depends on my needs and wash it at least 2 times until I feel the oil is gone. I have to wash my hair daily. I also use one shampoo from the pharmacy that is for dandruff, oily hair, dermatitis and very itchy hair and it does wonders.
I don't understand who washes hair once a week and not very often.
My hair falls off from all the oil and if I don't dry my hair after the shower it does the same, falls a lot for being wet and causes a lot of breakage. It's common sense.
On the other hand I know people with dry hair have other needs and who has curls too and goes on... My condolences for the girls that don't have hairdressers that are knowledge on how to work on curly hair :') I am lucky tho but I had these ladies telling me that ohh don't wash your haiiirrrr so muchhhh. Gurl did you ever see me on a morning or at night after an agitated day with a oily scalp? I could make a fried egg for your breakfast or two.
I wish there would be more comprehension for who has oily hair.

Why does your hairstylist use 40 volume? It is 12% peroxide and seems very extreme for you with such a light dark blonde-ish base color. That is the strongest developer available. It is typically for people with hair that is resistant to color. Just wondering....

You know what wb a million dollar idea? Hair chemist salon. They can analyze your hair and tell you exactly what you need to do, how often, for how long etc. Like a whole hair plan. Maybe the top layer needs abc and the under layer needs xyz. Extremely customized where not everyone uses the same products. And they have cut and color services. Kind of like how some Asian salons focus on scalp stuff. Idk if what I suggested makes sense.

Could you do a video about potential topical allergens in some hair products? I thought I was having a major hormonal issue, or that my hair was falling out due to dying it, etc. - went to the doctor and they said I was fine. I was using a bond-repair shampoo, condition, etc. system (one that you recommend in one of your videos, the L'oréal one), and my hair was falling out in almost clumps - finally I ended up doing a full panel allergy test, and turned out I had a topical allergy to citric acid, and the bond repair treatment was what was making my hair fallout! After a much-hated short cut to mitigate the thin hair, it's 2 years later and finally growing out - but these kinds of allergies are not talked about enough! I went through so much to find that answer - and now you can get these allergy panels as at-home tests through several options also! Would be so good for some awareness around potential allergens in case people react badly to them - you're not alone! ❤

Abbey- years ago there was a theory going around that “washing” your hair and “shampooing” your hair were different. You would wet your hair and put plenty of water on it, the same amount you would use to shampoo. It was supposed to clean any dirt off. You would do this every time you showered. Then once a week, or twice if you had really oily hair, you would use shampoo. I haven’t heard this in years, but I am curious as I am growing out my hair for the first time in years.
