Wow I feel like this is the first time I have come across one of my caucasian sisters (I am of African descent) doing a haircare video....Like duuuhhh I see the products on the shelves the commercials etc...but to be honest, if I may and not to offend I will speak for me ONLY...but as a black woman we see white women as just growing hair with little to no effort and therefore all you have to do is wash or color your hair...yes I know bleaching damages ALL our hair if we do not care for it but as if that's all you have to worry about....Your hair looks amazing I do see the difference from your before picture....and for you to say you wear protective styles and that long hair is deceiving it certainly is for all women lol.......I will be checking out more of your videos, Im sure there is something I can learn as I am on a hair growth journey to healthier hair......Would LOOOVVEEE to see a colab video with maybe a woman of a different culture to see what we actually might do that's the same or tips we can help the other with (you dont have to but I am just amazed and in love right now lol).....also do you get the frowns from your men about the "extra" hair or protective styles...or even the fact that you arent washing your hair as often....I just watched a black woman say she tried to go longer without washing her hair and her husband was like no no no ..and most of our men hate our "extra" hair....oh men!! lol.......anyhoo, again love your video I will be checking for more...blessings (from your new black sister)xo

I love this video. I am a black girl and I love to hear other women talk about washing once a week as well. I love Olaplex and I recently bought the professional box since I am not going to salons right now. Because of my hair journey, I keep my relaxed hair braided in French braids all week, so I rarely use styling products, like gels. I do need to add masks.

When I had my hair completely blonde, I would drench it in organic extra virgin coconut oil, which I would leave in for a few hours before washing it. This completely saved my hair, to the point that I could not do a wash day without using coconut oil. But it allowed me to grow my blonde hair quite long, even though it was damaged by the bleach.

So I definitely do all these things I just need to try the rice water now. My hair type is thick, wavy, red, virgin hair lol, so the hair dye portion isn't applicable to me, but keeping it healthy, shiny & thick Is what I maintain at this point. I wash my hair 1x per week too. Oh also, when I give myself a scalp massages 💆‍♀️I flip my head upside-down for more bloodflow/circulation to the head 🙃👍. As always, thank you for the tips 💯✨🤗. It's always cool to see how colored hair care and curly hair care cross-pollinate. Briogeo is a popular brand, and applying hair masks before shampooing immediately reminded me of The Mane Choice Proceed With Caution mask (it's explicitly a pre- or post-shampoo hair mask, though I've certainly seen TH-camrs use other masks the same way). Not to mention rice water - that's a whooooole thing, and several brands catering to curly/coily/kinky hair have put them in products as well.

It’s very important you only leave it on for as long as the bottle says. There are atleast two hair dressers on TH-cam like Brad mondo and Elle who warn against this. It makes your hair wirey and more importantly, next time you go to bleach your hair it won’t lift as easily and therefore not look as good or cause way more damage by bumping up the developer or leaving bleach on longer or both

You may already know this but I noticed ur curiosity when u were talking about the Amazon hair massager w/promising results. So I had to comment to tell u that another really good thing to do to help with your scalp and the oil issues, between washes or just in general, is to brush your hair. Simple sounds silly but seriously U can use a brush or a comb doesn’t have to be abrasive but combing from the top of ur scalp down to the mid-or end sections of your hair is a really good natural way to get ur own moisture from ur scalp to the lengths of your hair. It also helps spread the build up of oils from your scalp by adding your own moisture to the bottom lengths of your hair. My mom is a cosmetologist & growing up she used to have me just randomly gently brush her hair to move the oils from her scalp, she said it helped w/growth bc the brushing/combing stimulates the scalp & it’s important to spread the oils from your scalp to the bottom of your hair.

Honestly, the goal in colouring is to get your hair (the regrowth!) the colour you want in one step (most of the time). I'm not sure if I really understood what you said though..
Since you only have to colour the regrowth, there's actually no reason to wait or only colour the hair partially.
Actually, I think it might make it more difficult to just colour the regrowth.
Let's say you have 1cm (~half an inch) of regrowth, you colour that one centimeter and never touch it again. So there's theoretically no minimum amount of time you should wait but technically you need space to work on, so you need 1/2 cm at least. Otherwise you would risk getting colour on the already coloured/bleached parts and that's what you don't want.
For everyone who doesn't have balayage I'd actually not recommend waiting too long because your roots process faster than the rest and you, your hairdresser and your wallet will be in trouble.
    Hope that helped :)

    Great video, thank you!
I completely agree with you about using a de-tangling/conditioning spray, although first I apply a spray, then a conditioning/styling/heat protecting cream (because I have dry, coarser hair). I've used a variety of sprays in the past, and really like Briogeo's Farewell Frizz Rosarco Milk Spray (part of the same line, just a lighter weight, spray version of the product you mentioned); R&Co's All-In-One Spray Elixir Centerpiece; and most recently, Keranique's Lift and Repair Treatment Spray.
This latest spray is my fave because Keranique is an entire brand focused on women's healthy hair growth, focusing on how to prevent hair loss, re-growing hair, and keeping your hair strong and healthy. This is the only product I've tried from the brand so far, but I bought it because it was one of the only volumizing (or 'Lifting, as the product's name calls it) products that did NOT have a drying alcohol as a top ingredient. Almost every volumizing product I've found has de-natured alcohol as its first, second, or third ingredient. This Keranique product doesn't have the ingredient at all, and it's a fantastic volumizing product that also has a ton of great ingredients that strengthen and moisturize. I can't recommend it highly enough, and am looking into other products Keranique makes.
I only recently found your channel, Abbey, but am really enjoying all of the content about hair care, and would love to hear your opinion about the products I've mentioned (especially the ingredients), if you've ever heard of or tried them.
Thanks so much, and look forward to watching more videos!

Sadly the scalp massagers create tons of knots & tangles in my hair.
Nutrafol has been a game changer in growth for me and it has a side benefit of improving my skin....BIG TIME!
Lastly.....you must try the Redken Bleach Recovery. Massive game changer for colored hair. 💋xoxo

SUBscribed! Watched one of your vids last night, and a couple tonight while doing my nails!
Have been on a hair growth journey for years and have made some progress but not as much as I'd like, so I think your content will be an enjoyable way to help me keep my mind more focused on my goals! Thank you Abbey!

Thank you for this! I appreciate your channel so much!! It is surprisingly difficult to find influencers that have fine straight hair like mine... I LOVE curly hair, it's gorgeous and I'm SO jealous - but it's just not my hair type and it never will be.
I've given up trying to make my hair do something it won't, but looking for help with my hair type? I come up with nothing a lot of times and it's so frustrating. It seems like all the videos and blogs are for curly hair. I have low porosity, fine, straight hair. The products and methods for curly hair care don't work the same for me.

Don't color your hair. Don't blow dry your hair.
    Don't trim your hair 💕💕
Going on 10 months of not dying my hair. My hair is starting to finally look healthy and shiny. I need about another year for the color to grow out I can't wait to finally have long hair

I would love to see a video for moisturizing on non wash days with some product recs. My hair is dry like the sahara but I only wash once a week. I have dry scalp so I can get away with it. Problem is my hair gets really dry around day 3 already. I have been experimenting with hair oils to tide me over but would love a leave-in conditioner for everyday use but am worried because of potential buildup.

If I blow dry my hair it doesn’t hold a curl for more than a day but if I let it air dry completely and then curl it my hair will hold the curl for pretty much a whole week until I wash it again!! I suggest not blow drying!!

Hi Abbey, Happy New Year ❤! I hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year! I love watching your haircare during review and I seen your last video on this topic which I loved so much and for you to update from your last post on this topic is really great to see if anything has changed for you since watching your previous haircare routine. Really helps me a lot as I'm going through issues with my hair and the way that it has been. I would have said to you before what has been happening with my hair. I'll not bore you with saying it again. Thank you so much for this video and the best of luck to you for the year ahead and the videos that you go on to post on your channel throughout the coming year. I would love to see an updated haircare review if you have time that would be so great. You look so pretty and love you loads 🥰. Take care ❤!

Any recommendations on how to style your hair before going to bed to avoid damage or breakage?

    • @em._0140
      @em._0140 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Silk pillow case is good for hair, hence a silk bonnet if not case.. but if not you can style your hair in a bun or plait, they’re the best ways to style for bed

Do you leave your hair down whilst sleeping? I losely tie mine up cause if i leave it down I always end up pulling on it when I'm tossing and turning. But am I damaging it by putting it up?

When I wait more than two days to wash my hair, I lose SO much hair when washing it. Did you experience this when you were transitioning to washing your hair less? I have fine hair that is dry and I stopped coloring my hair about 8 months ago. Also, I am extremely careful with my hair by using many of the products you have spoken about and others that work for me. Also, I take hair supplements, use a silk pillowcase, and rarely wear my hair up.

Most likely it is your scalp. I wash my scalp everyday with tea tree oil and Rosemary oil and no longer lose hair
