- Hello everyone and today we are doing a ranking video I have wanted to do for awhile now and today we are ranking every Home Console Need For Speed Game from the 2000s. Tell me your favorite down below!

NFS Most Wanted (2005) with Carbon aesthetics/mood would of been perfect.
you can try Nightriderz (free community driven resurrection of NFS World), it's MW+Carbon map, with day/night cycle, team cop chases etc... and no microtransactions

Carbon is without question my favorite. Loved the Muscle, Tuner and Exotic variety and the different districts. Silverton being my favorite. I think the reason why most don’t like it as much as most wanted is not only because of the cops, but because it wasn’t finished entirely as stuff got cut.
Same NFS during night time was always the mood especially in Underground 2 and Carbon
thats why i didnt like it, it felt like most wanted without the cop content, when i wanted more than most wanted content, not less.
YES!!!!!!! Absolutely agree with NFSMW 2005 being the best game. I absolutely ADORED this game back in the day. I just wish the EA and the devs would reboot THIS game for the PS5. Not that sorry excuse Most Wanted game we DID get.

The black list was corny I don't know what the point of facing the top guy if he was just the biggest push over I wanted it to feel epic but it just let me down at least the cops gave the ending a better send off, You can only own like 15-20 cars something like that..... 💀 What?! It was so annoying in the modded version that I had to make multiple save files to drive every car I wanted and to customize. YOU CANT just have a normal freeroam drive in the streets even the little tap of speed gets the cops attention and YOU CANT turn off the stupid chase music like I wanna hear my music and enjoy a ride while being chased not the same song I been hearing since the beginning 🤦♂️ the freaking lighting idk how you kids played this I could not for the life of me enjoy this and had to completely modify and turn it off literally ruins the immersion. Lack of exotic cars that's all I gotta say and there are about 30 cars over half you will never touch again. The acting godawful and corny like mentioned. The map... It gets really really repetitive think about the GTA V map now make it 10 times smaller you get a small city and just woods and a dirty beach scenery that will get old fast... It had so much to be desired. So if this THIS is your goat 💀 you need to re-evaluate your life and play other racing games trust me you are missing out.
@@deana6072 Well excuse me if I like these types of games over 'serious' racing games like Forza and GT. And don't get me wrong I do like GT, but you get my point. That doesn't make me want to re-evaluate my life as you put it. I like what I like. And Most Wanted was my childhood back in the day

I love arcade racers also check out driveclub if possible there are also retro titles that live true to the genre. Most wanted on Pc also had the map from carbon imported to it that was a neat mod if you ever wanna expand to the fun.

😂🤣 if you actually ACTUALLY love vehicles from every class and aren't a ricer you would not be rating Most wanted or Underground top tier at all. The customization was up there but that's about it 🤷♂️ (I played them modded thank god) and it was a mediocre experience had to mess around with graphics and lighting idk how you guys played that game vanilla. UG2 was alright I liked the SUV's 🤷♂️ it reminded me of midnight club and you have the return of the rubber banding. The game got EXTREMELY repetitive in the end you can tell they put all focus and voice acting for just the beginning of the game when the last section felt empty and took forever to complete. The music... The music 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ I had to play the PC version to modify the entire music ffs you had to endure torture listening to some of the soundtrack for example "Sly boogie that's my name" "I do" "the death and resurrection show" "nobody" "unwritten law" some of those would be on repeat I swear... But I did keep some amazing tracks like "riders on the storm" "back on a mission" "rush hour" "nothing but you remix" In the end highly overrated but I can see where some can get nostalgia from parts.

The 2000s was their best era BY FAR. I started on Hot Pursuit 2 and got all the PS2 ones after that but it started falling off after Carbon.
Underground's difficulty is unparalleled

hands down my favorite title from them, specifically due to the chases.
I had a chase go so long (intentionally) I crashed the game, was really really upset about that.

The stuff I really enjoyed in MW was the police chases.

Great video! I'd love to see you rank the Ridge Racer series one day. It's a series I always thought was boring as a kid (because it wasn't Burnout), but revisiting it now is a lot of fun.

Good video. Hot Pursuit 2 for ps2 on the pcsx2 emulator with widescreen hack and gfx enhancements is god tier.
To me my favorites will always be UG2 or Carbon. Just loved the night street racing vibes. Plus Carbon really never gets the credit of having nuanced races. The canyon races are incredible and in the regular races, the car tiers really does have an effect. You cant just outrun an exotic car with a tuner car without using strategies
But what made Most Wanted standout were the cop chases. But the races were better in UG2 and especially in Carbon

Good video i did enjoy prostreet a lot more than you did maybe because I’m very nostalgic
I love all the games. I started off with Hot Pursuit 2. HP2 was special to me. Even though I played the GameCube variant first I had the chance to play the PS2 release. One track which keeps returning to my dreams is the heavenly Palm City Island. I just love it sooo much, although I admire all the tracks. I enjoy Underground 1 & 2 although UG1 had insane rubberbanding. There were 2 sexy ladies (Cindy Johnson and Amy Walz) which I sadly never heard from ever again after UG1. UG2 had a great variety of vehicles and parts. Bay view rocks.
Most wanted 2005 was probably my first PC game ever. I had a _total_ blast with it. Rockport felt like home, it was beautiful even though it was supposed to be a form of urban dystopia. Carbon is a childhood gem of mine. I still play it from time to time, thanks to the power of PC and modding. I used to play Prostreet on PS2. I admit, I wasn’t a fan at first. Where were the cops? Where was the pretty girl doing the PSA? Nowadays I have grown to love Prostreet. Undercover, I played on PS3. Yes it’s broken, but I love it. I think the highway battles are cool. I love that pursuit breakers and hiding spots returned for one last time.

Underground 2 and Most Wanted were my introduction to racing games. Fond memories.
I love your NFS ranking videos. This is the most accurate ranking on the entire internet and TH-cam. I have watched them like 50 times. I’m a huge NFS fan. That’s pretty much all I play is NFS. The NFS series was very boosted in popularity by the Fast and Furious movies and the car culture that was developed by the Fast and Furious movies. That’s why up to Need for Speed Pro Street in 2007 there were tittle messages that condemned illegal street races. Pro Street was a very weird entry. I’m happy you rated it first, I would say it is my least favorite of them all in this ranking. I wondered what really happened to Pro Street why the game was so out it touch. You should make a video about the development of Pro Street. I would love ❤ to see it made by you.
Carbon is the GOAT.
I started gaming with NES in the 90s. I've played a lot of 90s and early 2000s games. And let me tell you, they can be quite frustrating. The conventional game design sensibilities of the time had no sympathy for the player's frustrations. All they cared about is making the gameplay fun and addictive. When a barbarian takes a city in Civilization 3, it automatically destroys it irreversibly. If you allowed it, it's your fault. And soulslikes are a walk in a park compared to a typical NES game.
But there's actually only one game that ever made me swear out loud in anger. NFS Underground. And I still played through it about 5 times.
That being said, Porsche Unleashed beats it hands down. It's the swansong of the original NFS dev team. Truly an unmatched gem in the history of gaming.

Underground 1-2 is where I spent a lot of my time when I was around 4-5 years old lol and I loved the Ricer f&f feel.
Pro street I hated it back then I prob gave it two races .. my brother loved it tho.
Most wanted 2005 was where I spent most of my time when I was 6-7 years old. Racing for hours and trying to win back my car I’m not sure if I ever beat the game as a kid.
Carbon ahh carbon this was my brother’s favorite game and after growing up I’m 24 now and I finally got to play and beat carbon last month and it’s way better then I thought it would be. Corny yes but I really enjoyed it. Deff close favorite on this list not sure if it tops mw05 for me tho but it’s close.
I hope some of you can agree that the newer games like heat kinda remind me of underground they even added the og cars. And unbound has a super carbon vibe to it. Glad to see nfs going back to its roots after it was far gone for couple years

Pro Street as the worst? That's an instant invalidation of this list. Pro Street ain't perfect, but it's literally one of the BEST games ever to nail car culture and the atmosphere at such events. Add to that fun af car physics if you actually take a moment to learn them and some of the best speed sensation in any NFS game, and it's legitimately one of the best NFS game ever. Factually so.

Need for speed fanbase is divided by those who live off the nostalgia or follow others by liking a game made before they were born and those who don't mind any of the titles and adore the uniqueness of each title, sure not every NFS is perfect but games like Shift, Pro Street, Hot Pursuit 2010 & The Run are underrated and hidden away when they are actually very fun in their own way, I remember the chases in Hot Pursuit 2010 being so intense and being pressured all the time

lack of speed in NFS Carbon is caused by "blur", disable it, much better :)
it's funny when you realize game's rating is basically 30% handling/physics, 30% soundtrack.... and for some reason newer NFS games fail in those,
btw different feel of UG2 vs MW is defined by cars - slower cars are fun to drive on tight tracks, while fast exotic cars really need wide highways,
fun fact - both UG2 and MW have highway ringroad, while Carbon does not, it does make a huge difference to coherence of the world map :)
I really liked underground 2 progression that you had to kinda tryhard to get magazine covers and the star rating, also discovering the different shops on map is interesting, the magazine cover "races" get a little bit annoying when you have to do like 50 of them. The money checkpoints on map were interesting also with other drivers cruising the streets and you can challenge them for unique parts. At one stage there is just too many Drag/url races spawning at the airport and it kinda gets repetitive and drags can be pretty frustrating at times. Ug2 had better and bigger map than 1 and also the free roam is fantastic, drifting down the jackson heights has to be one of the most enjoyable things in this game and the customization and unlocking it is real fun. Played mw 2005 also but Ug2 is my favorite even tho i have no nostalgic feelings from it. One nfs that was really good was carbon i loved the map and handling there, removed drag races, short races overall and the best thing canyon races it just felt challenging altho the only real challenge was Darius. I wish this game would be longer and if it was worked on more and wasnt rushed i think it would be the best nfs game. Most wanted is interesting until the point you beat Ming after it gets really boring and repetitive with basically having maxed out lambo and no reason to switch the vehicle. When it comes to police chases they are fun but it can get frustating at times prolly the worst thing is going through a speedbreaker and you find yourself on a pinstripe after the cutscene. Underground 1 is good until race 86 and after that Its better to stop playing, also ug1 soundtrack is the best in the series. Conclusion is that ug 2 is definitive winner with carbon second shared with most wanted
I grow up playing porshe 2000 which in my opinion has the best soundtracks.
And i had an original physical DVD copy for most wanted 2005 for PC and man , this game was the BOMB.
I had a chevrolet cobalt which i started the game with it.
so by the end of the game i maxed it out with the best engine parts and painted it orange with blue flames. 😮🎉

In nfs underground, there is the chinatown area. In chinatown there is these massive jumps. I have needed to restart so many times because of the traffic spawning right in front of me when i'm airborne.
Surprisingly, the best story from a Need For Speed game was the PSP version for Carbon. Just a really good and dramatic story and I wish they could have a modern remake for it
I used to say that Most Wanted was my favorite too but more recently I started liking Underground 2 more. Underground 2 is just the best when it comes to content. It definitely has the best customizations, it has the most race/event types and the open world is actually meaningful. You can just drive around and find money, hidden races, hidden shops and you can meet other racers and challenge them on a 1v1 out there in the open world.
And Underground 1 might not have aged too well but that is the one that I am most nostalgic for, it was the one that I played the most during childhood and it will forever be special. And I think it's soundtrack and the general vibe was the best too.
The series peaked with NFS Porsche, an elegant game for a more civilized age.

It is not that everybody is sick of hearing that Most Wanted 2005 is the best Need for Speed game for most people because it is. Nobody is sick of hearing the facts. I totally agree with you on that. I’m a huge NfS fan and Most Wanted really has the best police chase of all the games. The police AI is very smart and very aggressive but that makes the game feel more realistic. Of all NFS games Most Wanted 2005 is the game I had the most fun with. The rubberbanding was almost inexistent. NFS Undercover has one of the worst rubberbanding next to Underground. Undercover was very frustrating and the physics in that game was horrible and lots of rubberbanding in every race. I played it on the PS3 and beat it and it only gets good at the end after 85% of completion. I don’t ever want to touch that game in my life. Great review, you were on point describing every game. Honestly I always felt like your average response to favorite NFS is Underground 2. As there was a lot of time there back in the day that I was trying to convince people just how incredible Most Wanted was and trying to explain why I thought it edged out UG2 just a little bit. Though both belong on their pedestals. I thought Pro Street was the start of the downfall of the series and it never really recovered...there's been some decent and passable NFS games since Carbon, but nothing that's ever been on the level of Underground 2 or Most Wanted...like, not even close. That whole era of Hot Pursuit 2 to Carbon is just "chefs kiss".
Apparently Most Wanted 2005 is getting a remake now...they have a tough road ahead of them to not fuck that up. If it plays anything like modern titles, I'm not even bothering with it.
You could play as the police in the original Hot Pursuit as well.
I'm here to defend Porsche unleashed for anyone trying to play it on the ps1. RetroArch beetle HSW PSX and there you go play the way it was meant to be played with higher graphics and detail. I don't know what the devs were thinking lowering the texture graphics to a minimum but the game is beautiful and the gameplay is up there it's underrated but if you played it you know it's up there.

I played undercover on both PS2 And Xbox 360. The ps2 is bit better because on the 360, rubberband ai is so severe. You can have a maxed out car and they still catch up to you no matter what. And what's worse you can't change the difficulty.
IIRC - I had NFS Pro Street on the Wii and unfortunately the game was absolutely broken. The track maker always had glitches you’d expect in a roblox game, I couldn’t even finish the tracks and it made me very upset as a kid I couldn’t play on the tracks I made.
I found carbons police at lower levels (1 & 2) to be more aggressive than in MW. Maybe just me.

for prostreet, u gotta have a decent amount of sim racing experience.
What really made NFS Undercover to sell so many copies was the real life movie cutscenes people were making such a big deal about it back in 2008 but the game was kinda boring, bad rubberbanding and bad physics and the ending was very predictable I knew what was gonna happen at the end by 86% completion.
NfS NiTR0 feels like it was supposed to be a part of Asphalt Series

what about carbon 2006?
I love nfs mw 05 easily the best no ifs ands or buts about it. That is 1 of 4 games along with the 2 underground games and carbon that got everything perfect. I call mw 05 the best because of how the cutscenes, the police chases, and the story. It seems like after 2013's rivals, this series has been in a burning pit and it cannot get out of the pit. play most of the older games and you will learn that the older ones are better then newer games.

NFS Hot pursuit 2 greatest NFS of all time. Im surprised you haven’t played any of these games during the era where they were thriving and at its best. The mechanics are completely different now. During that era, this was like the best driving game you could hope for. But good reviews. No offense. You won’t understand what it was like back then to play these games. Great review tho.

You don't explain what really made Underground good it also had Drag Racing & Drifting which at the time also made it a really really fun game rather then only lap racing. Should be higher up forsure but your young and don't know any better not your fault cool video though thanks for it!!

Wish they would add these older titles to Steam or Epic Games. Nowadays when they remake these older games like GTA - San Andreas, they just butcher it with low effort for the sake of a quick cash grab.
MW is a goat of NFS series due to the police chase and the game psyhic aren't just that great? But most of all im surpised that despite the game is old you can still find some random moments happened in the game such as flying truck container appeared out of nowhere and SUV Heavy police car appeared infront of me is just wtf moments throughtout my whole entire gameplay which makes the game are 100% awesome. Gotta go back smoking the corvette police.

@@TotallyTubularJonathan the chapters are messed up. Nothing for Underground 1 or Carbon. They are buried under other chapters.
Shift was trash, ProStreet was great, idk how tf you liked Shift. you complained about the physics and handling in ProStreet yet that was the part that made Shift literally unplayable for me.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Need for Speed Undercover is literally just a massive reuse of assets. The map is pretty much Rockport from Most Wanted, and the car list had barely changed from Carbon. I enjoyed it when I was a kid, but as I got older I started to turn on it more, and more. It's basically what happens when Black Box runs out of ideas. I think Pro Street was just a bit better, but that's just my opinion. I had much more fun with that game. Most Wanted will probably always be my favorite, but Hot Pursuit 2, Underground's 1, and 2, Shift, and Carbon were my childhood. Really all of them were pretty fun. Even the worst ones.

Why is pro street the worst?
Worst NFS in my personal opinion Every title Criterion made including Unbound.
Best NFS : every tiltle Blackbox Studio made except Carbon Prostreets, Undercover.
Carbon tried to please both Underground 2 and MW players and that's why it feel unpolished and missing some details.
