    I was running my scarlet 2i2 into my camera to remove delay when using the CamLink 4k video capture. Now it all is coming through the CamLink and is synced up perfectly. At first, I was getting so much static noise and couldn't figure out why. This video basically solved all my problems. Thank you so much!

    I tried option 1 with the Scarlett Solo to the Sony ZV-E10 with camera recording level set low. However, when I start recording, all I hear is a very loud static noise. I can barely hear my own voice. Cable is 3 feet. Any ideas what could cause this?

    HI How are you powering the 2i2? Are you still plugged into the computer even while recording to the camera? I'm not getting any sound to my camera and I have the volume up on the headphone jack which I'm currently using. I'm not sure why it's not being heard by my camera (Canon T5i). Maybe it's my cables but at the moment I'm using all that I have. Anyway, I hope you see this.... main question is about power to the 2i2. Thanks!

      i also have no idea how to record using my Canon T3i - do we need to use software on the laptop???? Nothing about that is explained here. I'm connecting my 1/4" to 1/8" audio cable from camera to the rear ports and have external mics with XLR jacks plugged into the 2i2 - I'm also getting no sound out of my camera even though I have the mic input turned on low. So - do we need software to go with this? that is not explained in the video and it;s frustrating.

      @@gabrielliberman8247 I have given up on it for now. I'll just record into Garage Band and sync in post. It's been okay tho I was hoping it would work. Maybe when I upgrade to a new camera I'll try again.

    • @gabrielliberman8247
      @gabrielliberman8247 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TrumpetBuzz I understand it's frustrating. So are you recording the audio using your Scarlett into garage band on one track and recording the video at roughly the same time? And then syncing the two tracks up using the clapping method or some other way? Your videos look great and they appear seamless.

    • @TrumpetBuzz
      @TrumpetBuzz 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@gabrielliberman8247 Yes, I have been running an external mic into Garageband and in post I've been manually syncing it with the audio that my camera records. I did try the auto sync in Final Cut (which is what I'm using) but I'm not convinced it's perfectly synced, so I went back to doing it manually. I do clap a couple times to give me something clear to work from for the sync. Thanks for the feedback on my videos! Much appreciated. Are you also using Garageband?

    • @gabrielliberman8247
      @gabrielliberman8247 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TrumpetBuzz hi there, no I have not downloaded Garage Band yet but I might try it. We're supposed to have a free subscription with the Scarlett to Ableton but I haven't set it up yet.....I tried using OBS studio with my Canon Rebel T3i but it only records the audio from the Scarlett and won't record the video from the Canon..... Unfortunately...... I'm Not sure I'm downloading the correct Canon EOS utility. It's all very obfuscated out there on what should be done with which equipment.
      Camtasia (free trial) has been good to sync the video and audio but it's expensive ..... And it won't recognize my Canon either.
      However, Clipchamp did sync both but the video was lagging.
      Thanks for the detailed explanation of what you're doing..... I'll probably just do that for now...... Two separate tracks and sync manually with clapping. All this to record myself playing and it's so hard to complete a single file so far!

    Great video. I'm a novice. I have some electronic knowledge. But new nothing about audio interface. A few weeks ago I decided to try to to make karaoke singing videos to upload on my TH-cam channel. I used my S21 phone for recording playing the karaoke video from my PC and singing (badly)!. The video and sound came out ok. I'm now looking to buy a audio interface like the scarlet . I will connect the audio output to my S21 for now and see if there is an improvement in the sound quality. Now here is the question. Where do I connect the audio line out from my PC to the Focusrite scarlet to mix with the microphone sound output? Also, what kind of a reasonable price microphone should I buy? Thank you

    Please could you tell me which is the best software to sync audio and video using a Canon Rebel T3i? I simply want to record myself playing the piano - I have two XLR microphones on booms and the 2i2 - I watched your video and am using Option 2 with the HOSA 3.5mm to dual 1/4" into line outputs.

    Hi, great info, got a question for you. I'm designing a set up where an XLR shotgun mic will run through the 2i2 and link to the camera via the headphone jack, the camera is being used as a webcam. The audio and visual will be recorded via webcam/screen capture software on the computer. A HDMI cable with capture card links the audio/visual from the camera to the computer which keeps it synced. None of my cables run over six feet in length so there should be no or very low interference. The question is do I need to download and use the 2i2 software for any reason in this set up? The 2i2 should work with the power only via the usb cable. The reason I'm asking is because if a usb cable is plugged into my computer when the HDMI is linked it mutes the volume so I can't hear via the screen capture set up. I'm thinking of powering the 2i2 from an adapter via the mains or from another computer which means the software would be irrelevant. Would this work?

    • @Richard-kl9bb
      @Richard-kl9bb ปีที่แล้ว

      The answer is yes you do need to download the software. This way of setting up works amazingly well for screen capture tutorial work with Camtasia, audio and video sync is super stable. If your lighting is good and you have sound treated your workspace there is no editing required. Boom, highly efficient workflow, Back of the Net my Son - (UK football (soccer) term).

For some reason it only sends a mono signal to my camera. I had a zoom H4N before as an audio interface and it would send a stereo signal to my camera. You can use a cheaper camera and cheaper audio interface. I have a Sony ZV-E10 and Scarlett Focusrite Solo 3rd gen. Together they're well under 1000 euros.
