    I match the meters with a 1khz tone from the H5. Also send the signal to the Camara But a nice beep tone from the H5 when it starts
    recording makes sync a breeze and use the high quality audio from the H5. Great video!

  • @430amtrader5
    @430amtrader5 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Baked-in actually sounds better, but it's just because you didn't adjust the raw wav volume to match the loudness of built in audio. The 1-stage audio data-compression trick is super cool, thanks!

    • @globalmolecule
      @globalmolecule 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, well it sounds richer but actually the flatter signal of the uncompressed is the better signal because it can be worked better. But I hear you I like the baked in sound too, but his point was it was the raw file, that can then be produced in post to make you sound like god.

    • @katk7925
      @katk7925 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree! Seems like this parallels a jpgs vs raw discussion..and jpg DOES look better straight out of the camera ...but you can surpass that with raw

    Dude! You should consider what Fuji does with their cameras and allows you to select line level or mic level for the microphone port. I select line level and use a very good external Sound Source and this is all TH-cam needs for the highest quality conversion

    An awesome video as per usual, Brian! 😆👍👍 As ever, I appreciate you for taking the time to highlight the best way to get highest quality audio possible, especially if you're wanting to use the baked in method as opposed to editing and syncing the audio & video in post-production. ☺👌
    Personally, I'll always opt for the recording externally then syncing and editing in post 99.9% of the time, however, even with that being said, I'm sure there'll be occasions where the baked in method come come in handy. 🎧📷🎤
    Cheers to you, my man! 🍻

    Hm, my Sony a7 III doesn’t compress audio, it puts PCM into the MP4 container. And I believe your a7 IV also doesn’t. External recording is theoretically better because of 24/32-bit float resolution, whether the camera’s audio is 16-bit.

    • @AudioforContentCreators
      @AudioforContentCreators  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, these comments were in the context of consumer grade cameras, typically sub $1500 which is where most content creators live. You're right that my new Sony A7IV is PCM. It's beautiful.

    My bro very useful information. Now I need to buy a field recorder. I got the money to either buy the zoom h6 or h8 but still not sure which one to buy. Also I am thinking of getting the sennheiser mk600 and use it all together. Probably I will sync as it sounds so much better. But thank you! I learned now that audio also has in a way raw data just as video and that can be compressed and so on. Cheers great video! :)

    I need this same solution but i need to have the external recorder record 4 channel, but i still want its line out to split the audio into 2 channels i.e. on external i have 4 mics, on the camera the sound would be 2 mics on left ,2 mics on right. the point here is if people ever talk over each other the external recording would be my safety.

    You never explained why/how the sync audio to video is some tedious or complex. I see pros (like you) talking about how external audio is such a pain. I'm a noob and I just do it in like 3 clicks. So I am clearly missing some level of quality or some complexity. Just curious if you were going to reveal that secret. Why do the pros claim it is some massive amount of work? Neat video but I'll stick to my select the video/select the audio and click on "sync audio/video"

    what about an XLR female to 3.5 male directly from boom to the camera, using NTG4+ cuz it has self phantom power.. would it be similar quality as the zoom method u showed?
    all the zoom is doing is giving phantom power right? the rode NTG4 + has a -10 db button option so I'm guessing is not optimal but it might work.?
    asking cuz I have to cover a small event with 3 handheld cameras and I'm already using a dedicated on camera mic on 2 of them but buying a new one just for this job is not worth it.
    or am I better off recording audio directly from the GH5, without anything attached?

    Hey I have a question about Zoom! I’m trying to create a professional but simple videoconferencing setup. My thought is an A6700 with 4K USB streaming with a H5 interface connecting to a MKE 600. So then everything just comes out of camera, no need for a USB audio interface, making it easy to move the setup as needed. I’m worried about the compression effects you mentioned at the end, will USB streaming from camera still compress to AAC?

    @Audio for Content Creators So does the H5 have phantom power? Also, if I am understanding you correctly, I want to use a Rode NTG4 shotgun mic for streaming, and after watching this it seems as if my audience won't hear any difference between the Rode and a $30 lav mic from Amazon? BTW I am on a gaming laptop and I could hear a huge difference between your audio A&B tests. The baked-in audio actually had more bass, but it sounded almost clipping and the highs were not as defined.
