THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO EXPLAIN THIS IN DEPTH INFORMATION FOR US CREATORS, CONSIDERING THAT THIS TOPIC ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC PRODUCT WILL ONLY BE WATCH BY A CERTAIN AUDIENCE LIKE ME THAT HAVE THIS PRODUCT. a true life saver!
I have watched your 2-3 vidoes. I am an online content creator. At very first of my journey on TH-cam I used Maono Au-A04. Then I switched to Rode NT-USB. My audience always praise me for my voice. So I have decided to change the mic. At first I thought to buy Sennheiser Mkh 416. But that is too expensive. Then I saw some of your videos. and decided to buy Shure Sm7b. I just ordered it @350usd. Thanks for this video. And one thing I feel that you are good person ❤❤
I wonder why this has so little likes or comments. This is the best recommendation I've found. Especially moving the mic to the side. I had Presence & Drive enabled, and talking - I sounded very boomy, even harsh. Now with the right positioning - which I rarely saw on other "setup" videos, I sound WAY more calm. Thanks!
Thank you for this super explanation using sm7b and Scarlett 2i2. Are you planning a new video with sm7dB + Scarlett 2i2 to show how they both work together?? It will be a great pleasure to watch you again ! Best regards
Thank you for your explanation. You are the first one that explained the front buttons and what they do. I am still considering my options for monitoring and hearing myself. I think for recording purposes, my headphones will do the trick. But if I just want to use my mic + Scarlett 2i2 for better computer to application voice live audio, then I would rather hear myself through monitors or through my computer speakers. That is the part I am not sure about. For computer to application voice live audio, I mean for gaming live or for zoom calls etc.
@@JayRock_2019Wait? So for your experience, you don’t need a cloudlifter or any other preamp, to give a boost to your sm7b; with your Scarlett 2i2 4th correct? Also what do you use the sm7b for just curious (I want to use for vocals).
Thanks for the video. I followed your recommendation, but the input level was too low to record the wind instruments. Also, the recording could be more airy if I increased the gain. Any advice? Thank you
The 4th gen 2i2 doesn't have enough gain for the SM7B unless you've got the mic up your nose. Put a Cloudlifter CL-1 in line with it and it actually becomes useful when positioned away from your face.
Something I was wondering I don't see often addressed, should you still shoot for somewhere around -18 to -12 when setting gain if you aren't doing any post processing and are just chatting over voice calls and games and such? It's not too quiet?
do you recommend the Shure SM7B for Home Studios? My room is a bit reverberant and I need a new microphone. Did you recommend the Shure or the Rode NT1-A or do you have any better recommendations? Can you also set up the Shure vertically because I have a tripod that is actually only for vertical microphones? It is a tripod for standing and not on the table. A answer would be very helpful!!!

Do you need headphones (headset) to be able to hear through the focusrite 2i2? Can I just plug in a transferrable jack into the audio port so that I can listen with normal earbuds?
Terrific review and your videos have been incredibly helpful. Not to mention they're extremely well done! Thank you. Quick question - can you recommend a high-quality USB output cable that runs to the computer (Mac)? The one that came with the Scarlett 2i2 seems like it could be of better quality. Much appreciated.
i have a condenser mic i just bough and i cant make it work. I have the mic connect with phantom, which it says it needs but then i cant hear anything coming from it from direct monitor or ableton. I can arm the track because it only has 1 and 2 and thats the instruments plugs.
It will not hurt adding a cloudlifter to your setup, you'll just need to watch your gain levels from your interface since you're already adding 25db of gain from the cloudlifter.
Hello, I use CM25 MkIII condenser microphone that comes with the Scarlett 2i2 3d gen and i have to set the gain knob to almost max or max. Until today it wasn't like that I would set the knob at a lot lower level(maybe 45%) with that same microphone to have the results I have now at max, I wonder if this is because i downloaded and updated the 2i2 driver. Does this sound normal? I tried also the older driver and same results. I don't have any other gear to try out so i can troubleshoot. Have you heard of such an issue before?

But if I switch SM7dB preamp on, no signal gets through. Do you have any suggestions for this? Been trying for hours to see why this is the case.
Turn on phantom power. You need it to power the pre-amp inside the sm7db. If you dont have the 48v phantom power on, you won’t get any input from your microphone.

Hi, when I turn the gain up on the input beyond 12 o'clock it has a lot of white noise. This is even with the Shure SM7B + Cloudlifter unplugged. Any idea why, or is this normal for the 4th gen?
Just so everyone knows, he's using the Scarlett 2i2 4th gen. If you have a 2nd or 3rd gen, they will also drive the SM7b with no need for a cloud lifter. The 1st gen needs the lifter.
