Didn't expect to ever see myself in someone else's video. I'm flattered, and I agree with almost everything you said. When I first started making videos a while back it was just for family and friends and I never posted anything online. I wasn't worried about views and numbers and stuff, I only made what I wanted to make. Once my brother got me to post on youtube and I saw the number get big it felt great. But I worry about what that attention does. I resent the idea of being a content creator because I just want to make something that me my brother and friend think is funny. But now that I know people are watching sometimes it gets in my head and I worry if other people will like it. It sucks. But I do LIKE the money and attention, but making videos isn't my job. My job is going to work in a granite yard for 9 hours a day. Making videos is what I like. If I ever seem like I don't enjoy it anymore Dumbs, take me out.
so damn true. The editors of TF are cooking god damn 5* dishes in terms of edited league content. It'll be a whole damn feast for everyone if they'd be let out of Tobias' basement at some point.
The game is much better than before if you want to play it seriously, still a banger if you have full premade 5 team, but simply not that much FUN if you just wanna play a random game solo. Even fun modes becomes sweaty after few days. When aram becomes most fun game mode something is wrong for me. But gaming simply changed a lot, even in games like WoW people will always choose 0.5% better stats over fun. Also i will be forever salty about how Riot handled league overall with the resources they had
I agree on the mangement part, they had millions of good options and a lot of the community were willing to help & share their ideas, but they never listened, as if listening to the community was 100% sure to ruin the game, yet they ruined it by themselves.
@@Pedro-S This so much. League used to be my go-to game when I felt like yapping, because the way the game is just got people to talk. Not even negatively, if you started the game with something friendly or witty usually chat would become goofy as hell. I literally stopped adcs from tilting by reciting Naruto speeches in chat. Nowadays you have to sit 30 minutes chatbanned ingame because you bantered with friends 💀 You say GLHF in allchat at game start and nobody even responds.
100% the biggest factor, no trash talk allowed? Bs censorahip? Like just mute if you dont want to participate, but the threat of a perma ban for typing mid diff and losing a 5,000 dollar 13 year account??? Just not worth it
I remember you used to make fun build custom skin videos so I subscribed to you Then you start to pop off by making montages from other people's clip and stopped making fun build 😢
Wood division editing is pure fire, he adds very little things and yet makes the clips so much better with it. But I do feel he is less known than many other.
Honestly I just kinda grew out of league so I unsubbed to almost every lol channel I was subbed to, should resub to kshaway and see if it's still fun to watch
I didn't even know that was still a thing, I just went to see one of the new videos and it feels incredibly weird to see a style of editing and content that I associate so heavily with older videos be used with footage of the fancy new League stuff like modern champions and reworks.
Skooch, Bricky, Sunnysplosion, Sky Williams, Darkk Mane, Gbay99, Anklespankin are some that I remembered from way back. I just came back to league after 5 yrs and now and I got hit with nostalgia so I'm currently rewatching Magikarp, Skooch, and Bricky's playlists on League.
Haven't seen him mentioned yet but Trinimmortal His "Beat League" and "Last Pick" were peak especially during a time where A-Z challenges weren't much of a thing yet, and I don't think anyones tried the same concept of beating all champs with all skins since.
As an editor, I think riot neglect on their replay system has also affected us editors. and made it harder to create content for content creators. like imagine if the streamer had an epic momment on their vod. but oppps i cant acces the Replay file cause its past 20 games.
One of the most funny and still active league channel I know is Pianta. Been watching him for years and yeah his creativity kinda fell off but he is still one of my favorite and entertaining channel.
He was probably losing money while doing his edits with anime OSTs and storytelling He could still do content like that, but I see why he wouldn't He is still fun tho
It's really hard to keep creating content without feeling some burnout or repeating some ideas, like Tenmo player. His creativity is still there but you kind of get in a "bubble" where you're not sure what to throw in to experiment, that "eureka" that makes a banger video, like "Is this game winnable". And League as a whole is declining in content and views so it's not a real problem, more like a natural progression of a game's lifespan. Just remember Minecraft Videos when they were in a slump but then got their new golden age and now they're just stagnant but active, it's easy to go crazy at first but after some time you have that small decline. I think Riot needs to create more ways to enjoy the game, a lighting in a bottle where people are "hooked" to get back into League and consume League content. 2015 and 2016 felt like peak content because there was so much happening all the time with events and game modes. Arcane can be the catalyst to a new era if they make things right, we are still here... we just don't play League because it takes a lot of time and we grow old. I am 24 but I was hooked when I was 14-15.
@@MelangeFox Sure, they are both ranked, but Bob is essentially the classic "Off Meta"-format just used in ranked, while including the community and adding his usual little kayfabe to it. I mean, Pianta is just legit good at the game, so him playing normal games with off-meta is just as boring as other people smurfing in bronze to show off how OP Full AP 1000AP 100 to 0 in 4 seconds Yuumi is when a challenger plays it in bronze...
The fast trilogy with that speedy Jhin build and topnotch editing will forever be a staple to me. Also remember when the league community channel was a thing? With helmet bro and the remixes of the champ voicelines? It's sad they abandoned that channel.
The Fast trilogy in my mind is absolutely legendary and a genuine core memory. Revisiting them I thought they'd have more views and be referenced by people on the internet more because I just remember them THAT fondly lol.
I know probably most of if not all of the karp crew will appear in the main channel video, but I always have a place in my memory for the league videos of yakkocmn and redriotross. Seeing custom skins for the first time was such an eye opener for me, and I’ll come back to those edits when I’m feeling nostalgic
Sunnysplosion and friends, Bricky as well as pianta were those who got me in league along with Necrit, Darkkmane and Nickyboi so all of these would be great (:
Lore dosnt make the game fun tho 😂. I would 95% of players DONT care about lore. The thing is what killed fun in league is eSports. Period. Everyone wants to go pro. Even in normals people say " whats the best build in master+ for my X Champ" 😊 .
@@ImHydro16Addition: Riot also nerfs it into the ground whenever the community tries to have fun with an off meta build. As a personal example: shotgun Sona was not that good in recent years, and my main girl still got nerfs, making a more fun off meta build go from slight troll but very fun into hard inting The company actively nerfs characters to shape them into the role they accept them as
Hoompty's content was insane, and I think a good case study for Dumbs to use. Riot literally removed 90% of all the spicy techs he mentioned in his videos.
Im surprised there was no mention of Rav and how he has had a continuation of fun LoL videos. I would say he does funny scripts and edits, a lot of the time around trending topics but also others. Hes good at using just a few games and making meaningful stuff out of it.
on my side i don't have the impression that league fun content is dying, but more like ALL video game fun content is disappearing. For some reason, the "fun" in competitive games like league or smash don't work a lot these days mainly because people feel more interested in playing in competitive rather than casual. I know that there has been a time on twitter where basically everyone was whining and laughing at smash youtubers for doing funny montage videos about a character.
One game that has thriving fun content rn is Dead by Daylight. You have Hens, Otzdarvan, Ayrun, JRM, Mish to name a few that make really engaging content with fun builds and playstyles. Even if you don't play DBD the content creators are really funny and engaging.
I think a bunch of other creators have started to talk about this especially with COD and the release of BO6. All the new videos are just people speeding running the Easter eggs or instantly telling people what the most sweaty meta builds are like there is no more fun in content creation across a large medium of online games.
Because everyone is trying to be the next ninja. Back then there was barely any monetary incentive and so games were just played for fun and enjoyment. Today everyone is sweating 100% of the time, gaming used to be a hobby that you do for fun but now it is treated as a fulltime job
Man... I’ve got so many fond memories from the early days of League content. I’ve been at it since 2011~ and have seen all the shifts over the years. It’s tough watching so many creator friends move on, but I get it for all the reasons you've mentioned here. My motivation’s been up and down too, but I’m working to reignite that spark for making spotlight parodies! 😤 Am looking forward to the full, movie-length history of league content creation!
WhyGuy is definitely worth mentioning! His editing, storytelling and Text-To-Speech voice over was so much fun! Especially when he had his outfit to pose into the camera after a play. He turned playing ranked into an anime xD Riot has patched the fun out of the game and streamligned it for competitiveness. Which is also why I stopped playing. Not only is the gameplay becoming more boring with every season, but ranked is not rewarding and I do not like playing to accomplish nothing
Shoutouts to the unmentioned: -Hoompty (sick tech) -DongHuap (creating niche of interviewing SoloQ legends) (Spicy content warning) -Crazy Boris Productions (art) -Rav (bars) Also thanks for mentioning DBlackjack21 and our demonitized king UberDanger 🙏🏽
DanteAxe definately deserves the mention too, he mostly did 3d animations himself, voiced most of characters himself, randomville was full of memes that were accurate back in the day. Considering it was mostly a 1 man job but he got sabotaged by youtube is quite a story by itself
Sneaky I feel like has been a pretty good content creator when he does actually upload, his editor does an amazing job of showing off stuff like recent changes to champs and items relative to the game without breaking the pacing. Plus has been fun to watch on co-streams
Very well phrased and understandable points! Totally understand what you mean - I grew up with Dante Axe videos :D miss things like this on the community
I think the one who got me more into the fun league part of youtube was KBVTV/Keegan, with his zero damage tryndamere build video. Itd be great to see him in the main video!
The absolute goat of stupid oldschool builds xChinNin should be mentioned in the video. Some other favorites of mine being: Spuzie, SivHD, ThePeacePigeon, Lone Coyote, Layvee, Dippen, Dante Axe and Bricky.
i don’t see anyone mentioning Whyguy.. he was one of my favorite league content creators, his style was unique, from his outfit to his text to speech narration, naming his combos after mental disorders, I really loved watching him. It’s a shame he suddenly vanished..
There's this animator, Robator , who has been creating funny lol animations for 7 years. Sadly he have ~4,4k views per video (not including latest), It's so sad. I wish he had more. And 4 days ago he lost ability to monetize hes videos and have active Channel Members. :( His animation quality is phenomenal, arguably the best in the community. I hope you could mention him in your new video... Stranger, if u reading this, please at least check out his channel! All the Best!
I watched all creaters you have mentioned but i remember watching Pianta. With his paint thumbnails and fun voiceover over gameplay it makes league look, well fun
Im gonna mention an oldie but gold. SivHd. I remember nearly choking laughing with his jukes tutorials on leblanc and a stupid quote from an ashe video “if you have more than one 1 hp, you are good to go” and this shit is a core memory to this day
I learned about the insane amount of work it takes to make the funny videos from Yakkocmn explaining why he quit league, besides the game not being fun for him and his friends the editing side is just a nightmare. League is a crusty old game with horrible replay tools making it harder to get good edited clips that isn't just pure gameplay. Still props to channels like theirs for the work they did. Also Tobias Fate easily has one of the best channels still doing great league edits. His editors are amazing. Edit: Oh he mentioned Yakko. Based Dumbs.
Been really enjoying your content recently, and even if my time in the community has been really short so far, videos like your worlds stuff and edited "fun" videos are some of my favorite videos in this community if not all of social media. I can't imagine what it feels like from the perspective of someone who's been with league for so long but even as a new comer, the seeming changes in direction and overall not-great (at best) practices from riot don't give me a lot of hope for the future of the game and its community. Really hope more creative and time consuming videos are AT LEAST supported by riot in the near future but, only time can tell
Might be out of field, but there where a bunch of german content creators that shaped how I played league. HandOfBlood had a format called "Kombo Attack" (yes, this was intentionally written denglish then), where they had a theme (for example "Anlauf statt Gleitgel or "Approach run instead lube") where they just picked champs that fit that theme. Seeing a full movement speed Quinn delivering a Zilean bomb flying at mach f u accompanied by shouting laughter followed by the new guy using garen ult at a full hp target followed by even louder laughter will always be why I loved old League.
Those were the times :) OP Guides, Lol Facts, Spandauer Inferno, Rentner Interviews (Pensioner interviews) HandOfBlood and the entire Team of Summoners Inn definitely shaped the German Lol scene but I think these were the peak times and we have been on a decline since then. We sill have good content around the game in Germany but I think we will not see these heights again. Nothing out there can currently compare.
The Riot Games Community and Hyun channels is primarily what got me into League. More specifically champion mixes and Stick figure spotlights. Those were and still are such bangers. I also enjoyed Quicksilver Sash's unique montages. Your (Dumbs') "Asleep" video and Worlds Stuff are the bombs too Also wanted to mention a youtuber, whose name I, unfortunately, don't remember. But I remember that he mixed 2D animations with league gameplay, hand drawing certain scenes from the game scenarios. I specifically remember something about Sion ulting, being one of those animations combined with game.
I will never forget the days of the Cypher. Where creative music covers came from creators like Badministrator, Plentakill, Natsumiii, Area of Defect, The Yordles, etc etc. This is the era I think of when I remember how fun League and League content was, before I even discovered people like Bricky, Magikarp, Yakko and the like.
I remember Instalok and their League Parody songs. Those were the days. And fun fact, they also try out builds and comps from their songs until they discontinued it sad. But yeah it was pretty fun back then.
great video and a great idea too! i've been playing since season 3 and back in the days i loved watching a youtuber called CholeraNinja,i think his channel is down now,but im p sure there are still some clips from his videos,i personally loved the guy,you might know his Xin Zhao impersonating video, his voice was even used in one of the Stick figure spotlights for Xinzhao. And another person would be Yassuo(Moe) 2018 or so Yassuo highlights edited by his editor Pinoy used to cure my depression.
Hi! I almost never comment on league videos, but I really think KBVTV's old champ build guides and his highlights channel is one of the main reason I STILL love and consume league content. The guy is so genuine too.
no matter how much I let go off league, Tobias Fate is still one of my favorite LOL youtubers that I watch even if I am not playing the game anymore. His editors are INSANE and the workthey put into his vids is beyond admirable and he himself is just funny 😂
PLEASE talk about the channel "unbannable" (now named johnny, has clarity spell pfp) he was a breath of fresh air during the ".exe" video genre craze, as his mesmerizing editing style, music choice, and comedic timing was on point instead of just putting a random meme before a play and just out of nowhere, every edit has a purpose and a lot of thought behind it. he since retired from youtube but i always go back to his videos for a good laugh and for pure spectacle
Please talk about Corobizar, he disapeared from youtube, deleting all his content, but he was such a legend, I knew all of his parodies by heart in HighSchool with my friends. It was back in 2012 !
He was such a legend that even Riot Games FR made countless reference about him like calling scuttle crab "Jean michel Crapaud" in champion spotlight which was the name Corobizar gave to it in a song after him helping killing annie by using Sion E on it. ( Annie was a joke because she usually kill steal his pentakill )
ThePeacePigeon for sure! I believe you already had a clip of him in the video, but he should definitely be included in the big one. This man's montages were the most amazing shit I had ever seen and funny as well! He inspired the current League replays we see a lot nowadays in lol esports too. He was definitely the biggest reason I got into video editing and my current carreer. I owe him a lot to be honest...
One thing I want to add about the game being more competitive than fun: NOTE: DOES NOT APPLY TO RANKED A vast majority of the players today are waaaaay too focused on winning through going metas rather than trying out-of-the-box builds and comps. Everytime a "Lethality Nasus", "Movement speed Blitzcrank", "Attack speed braum", "Moonstone AP-CDR Yi" is played (to name a few I've played before), it's deemed reportable bc of it being a troll build that most likely decreases your odds of winning. But hear me out--what if we stop caring about sweating for 20+ minutes raging for a win you don't know you'll even get when you can enjoy all 20+ minutes doing something that actually entertains you the entire time? Unless it's ranked, why not just *not* care about what happens at the end? So many of us are way too focused on winning and end up feeding depression whenever they try so hard just to disappoint themselves with a loss.
I think all that needs to be done is Riot making a contract you sign that says that when you queue up for any non-ranked mode, you are for it to not be competitive from the other players. And the opposite with ranked where you sign that you agree that people can have a bad game and that you will do your best to win. The might seem like a small thing but it's a huge shift in perspective. I personally adhere to this mantra and my experience with League is so much better because of it. When I play ranked I just focus and remove chat, trying to play my best. When I'm in Normal Draft I just pick something I feel like trying or comfort and put on some music and play almost on auto pilot. Just like you can play singleplayer games casually to just beat them and then you have speedrunners and such that try to squeeze every single thing from it. Everything in life can take that turn. And when you have people who have conflicting approaches, you are bound to have a bad time. Even with friends, if they don't approach the game with the same level of seriousness (be it goofy or competitive) then it ruins it for everyone because someone is guaranteed to have a bad time. Until that distinction is made officially by Riot, everything will be a mess - both ranked and casual modes.
I want to add The communities are trying to find off meta fun It's just when they find something fun that has a winrate even close to 40%, Riot notices and nerfs the champ from ever being able to do that again
@@yournewmessiah3582 that's just a lie. They literally keep OP niche picks untouched until they get popular. Ziggs bot has been super strong for over 4 years and Phreak (even before joining the design team) told it to everyone and nothing happened until about a year or two ago where they nerfed him a little. Zac mid and Zac top have always been strong and they never touched it until pro players started playing it (specifically G2 BrokenBlade). Another one is Taric - while it is not a weird off meta pick, he is super strong and Riot knows it and they don't nerf it because nobody plays it. The only example of a pick being super niche and having a terrible winrate being nerfed is "Impregnating Gragas" where he could CC you forever at 5-6 items. It was removed because it was unacceptable game behavior that made it absolutely miserable to play against despite being incredibly bad in terms of winrate. Off meta is reasonable and viable and at no risk of being nerfed unless it does some exploit, has way too high winrate (Aurelion Sol pre rework at 58%), is big in pro or simply becomes popular. So unless you have examples, don't spread this slander. Riot makes a lot of mistakes but this is not one of them. If you want to play Fiddlesticks Top, you can. And if it's weak or strong, Riot wouldn't care and it won't be nerfed. Just play the game how you want.
Actually fun League content is basically dying, I agree. And Riot continues to make itemization on champions more limited. A great idea would be to just make a different game mode, where people can play stuff like AD Soraka, AS Sett, Full AP Jax etc. The game can be played in so many ways with the champions it sucks you can no longer explore goofy builds.
I have two creators I've watched like 13 years ago. Grasshyren, he made short League clips and had a series called "Why Grassy isn't pro" and that showed fails from him and his friends. Was a lot of fun. The other channel is more sad tbh. It was called cholera ninja, I just tried to look it up but I guess he deleted the account. You can still find some reuploads of some Videos of his if you look up "I'm bad at LoL". He stopped making content after he ended the relationship with his ex. If I remember correctly his ex was toxic and abusive, she cheated with one of his friends from the videos and overall brought him close to the end. That's why he suddenly stopped uploading the first time. He was back for a time but never really took off again, his first run was really good he had 10k+ views (13 years ago it was a lot). He left right when TH-cam was getting profitable for creators. And now he's gone for good I guess. Which is heartbreaking he was always an amazing and funny creator. Sadly the vods where CholeraNinja explained everything in detail are gone and you just have my word.
I don't really know many league content creators, but I've recently started watching Zavlan, ziggs main. Pretty good edits and animations but not much recognition. The humor may not fit everyone but I find it kinda goofy funny.
I mean Dblackjack is Tobias' Editor which is Space Toast Production. He is definitely cooking and killing it with the edits and it really makes Tobias' pain in Ranked pretty fun to watch xd
its really ironic. theres literally so much low-effort content now (which is boring in general), because those that WANT to put in the effort, CANT, because the game doesnt allow it due to broken tools.
I love this, and I hope it continues to be spoken about. Fun content should never be forgotten about for this game, or really any game for that matter. It pushes so much more positive attention on any game it is a part of rather than pure competition and scathing feelings (which I always hope is just banter, but more often than not it isn't) towards each other, and it also brings all the incredible talent and creativity of creators directly into the spotlight. There will always be a large place for competition in competitive games, but when everyone forgets to enjoy it, that's when it erodes the community in irreparable ways and stops being fun anymore. As someone that always had my focus on full game content, I have spent a tremendous amount of my time and effort on reminding as many people as I could to continue enjoying what they do with their time as I've always been a staunch believer that people devalue their time far too much and willingly spend it doing things that are not making them happy. After needing to spend many years now not being able to make content and unfortunately driving my channel basically into the dirt, it makes me incredibly happy to see that there are still other League creators that just want to make their audience happy, and at the end of the day, if Riot still can't get their head out of their ass and see what these creators are really doing for the community, then I can't wait to see what sorts of things you all can make when you're not being limited so heavily by the company that should've been supporting all of you from the very beginning.
As somebody that actively try to separate the game from the community, for me the problem for "fun" content in League is mainly two things 1 being the over saturation of quick informative slop content and 2 the amount of *insert champion otp* "highlights" content that end up being 1 guy talking about their champ in a sudo informative/joking way constantly repeating the same tips, video after video type of content that drowns up other content because of how easy it is to make. Now mind you the content itself isint boring because their is content creators that fits the definition that i see that is fun to watch, I Keep it taco, Cryo and Polypuff are a great example of it but for me the best type of content in general is always gonna be more banter base then gameplay base stuff like Hyper suger, sunnysplosion (im aware), Nate150k and Nickyboy from time to time. Mind you i don't watch alot of league content creators with the ones being the ones previously mention, RossBoomsocks, Necrit, darkk Mane, Herald_NA, Nicolai ,Exil (Im aware 2.0) and this weird guy call Dumbs from time to time Also as another comment pointed out its not just league that's running out of for fun content, content in general has become more about having one main clickbaity catch and making the the video around that catch aka the Mr.Beast style of content (im aware 3.0 and lets not talk about him) at least for me the highly edit banter content that i like is more common on small or older channels stuff like SobietWumble being a great example Sorry for the long comment im not good a keeping things concise (• ▽ •;)
I will tell you exactly why riot won't ever release a way to make your own fun modes: It doesn't do anything positive for riot and thats excluding the whole engine security problem. I am old WC3 TFT player. What do you think was vast majority of the playerbase? Custom maps. Be it your good old troll vs elves, DOTA, hero defences, coop campaings, minigames battle royale, castle defences or the billionth 3 vs 3 vs 3 anime moba, arenas, battle royales, random skill maps. Basically sky was the limit(and remember, this was done on ancient ass RTS engine that couldn't handle bigger maps than 8 mb. At that time bigger maps either required you to put models, sounds and music through mixes or everyone had to download shady chinese patcher that broke through that limit and god forbird you had it from different source because thats loading hell for you. Also, if you hosted on gameranger you had exactly 80 minutes to finish the game or gameranger would disconnect everyone.) and the playerbase was massive and thats massive problem for Riot. Remember, each player that would play these fun maps are players not running summoners rift. Not only this would advertise league as entirely different game, it would also shift the playerbase from the main mode into all of these fun little side modes(Which will not only mean less people play competetively, but also the playerbase would be more fragmented) and on top of it riot wouldn't make a dime from all of that(Seriously, what will you monetize from that? No one gives a damn about Ahris 500 dollar skin when they are too busy playing offbrand version of mario party) Heck, even you must remember that famous line Riot said about URF and that mode is basically something anyone with basics of programming could do in few hours if you would allow them to use riots tools.
Thank you for making this video Mr. Dumbs. When I met you at TwitchCon in Paris last year and I mentioned how you were one of the reasons I started making league content, it made me even happier to know you were such a chill dude. Now almost a year later, you addressing this problem that has existed for many years but still having the motivation and initiative to keep making content makes me believe that the league content scene does still have a chance! Keep making your awesome videos man, you are still a true inspiration.
It's funny you mentioned Keyori. He did the absolute worst thing when he decided to pivot away from League... He arrogantly said that his success wasn't due to the League audience, but due to his own hard work on videos, and if the League audience didn't like the change, they could unsubscribe and not let the door hit them on the way out. His subscriber numbers tanked and the backlash was so bad he had to make an apology video.
When I first started playing League (2020 with the pandemic) the only "funny content" I found that was not ancient was meme montages. I like it but it ended up feeling stale after a while for me. Now I enjoy watching creators like Nickyboi, Alois and Sloppy Walrus, the type of videos that are more standard but still have some goofy edits and jokes in between that make them more entertaining
Personally, I would say a big reason is that Riot is not trying for new content anymore. Back a few years ago, they would preffer to risk a couple of patches for a new game mode that might or might not fail, examples like Odysey or even forgotten game modes such as Nemesis Picks, or whatever it was called, where you picked the enemy champion for them. Now, they do that once a year or so, most likely because there is nothing to lose on a low cost project worked upon a few years. The new content is literally buffs, nerfs, skins and overpriced skins. We get a new champion once a year and no new game mode, only old ones such as URF or Spellbook. URF was literally a joke they thought to put for a couple of days, now its the most common temporary game mode we see.
I would love you to talk about pianta (mostly his competetive funny tenmo player series, just the old one) also rtb and kshaway. And I can’t wait like half a year for that vid to come out :3
one of my favorite league content creators and the one who actually made me pick up the game and learn it past just playing 3 - 4 games every few months is actually Rav,
My man Trinimmortal did "Last Pick" and "Beat League" back in the day, he came back recently and he's doing "Beat League" again with a more healthy (for him) formula.

I second this
Absolutely. His editors cook, probably the only League youtube channel still doing funny edits besides the occasional Kshawaay video.
so damn true. The editors of TF are cooking god damn 5* dishes in terms of edited league content. It'll be a whole damn feast for everyone if they'd be let out of Tobias' basement at some point.

Banning people for typing made everyone afraid to type, i loved to taunt and joke in /all, nowadays most people don't even have /all enabled
Nowadays you have to sit 30 minutes chatbanned ingame because you bantered with friends 💀
You say GLHF in allchat at game start and nobody even responds.
100% the biggest factor, no trash talk allowed? Bs censorahip? Like just mute if you dont want to participate, but the threat of a perma ban for typing mid diff and losing a 5,000 dollar 13 year account??? Just not worth it
I remember you used to make fun build custom skin videos so I subscribed to you
Then you start to pop off by making montages from other people's clip and stopped making fun build 😢

OBLIGATORY shoutout to his team of editors.
Also there is this smaller youtuber called ZAVLAN, and he makes some really good edits.

@@Blu_Moon_Owlso true, i Dont even notice he Dont upload in a long time
Why everyone forgot about Wood division???
Wood division editing is pure fire, he adds very little things and yet makes the clips so much better with it. But I do feel he is less known than many other.
Yeah I'm still subbed to Kshaway ever since I found them.
Kshaway should honestly get a veteran's discount, bro's been on the League content grind for years
Honestly I just kinda grew out of league so I unsubbed to almost every lol channel I was subbed to, should resub to kshaway and see if it's still fun to watch
Sky Williams💀

Haven't seen him mentioned yet but Trinimmortal
His "Beat League" and "Last Pick" were peak especially during a time where A-Z challenges weren't much of a thing yet, and I don't think anyones tried the same concept of beating all champs with all skins since.
He actually started trying to beat league again recently and the videos are still good.
He's back now. Just not killing himself for content but still back at it
truly mans is deffy one of my goats
community made modes WOULD LITERALLY REVIVE THE FUN
"Keyori - doing the same thing" Ah what a throwback to the era when the biggest LoL content creator drama was Keyori being a "copycat" lmao.
As an editor, I think riot neglect on their replay system has also affected us editors. and made it harder to create content for content creators.
like imagine if the streamer had an epic momment on their vod. but oppps i cant acces the Replay file cause its past 20 games.
As an editor as well, I hate the replay system
One of the most funny and still active league channel I know is Pianta. Been watching him for years and yeah his creativity kinda fell off but he is still one of my favorite and entertaining channel.
He kind of stopped making funny content. His main series currently are Bob and Yesso, both about climbing ranked.
Edit: :(
He was probably losing money while doing his edits with anime OSTs and storytelling
He could still do content like that, but I see why he wouldn't
He is still fun tho
@@MelangeFox he has a video on how trying to break through with content on every video absolutely destroyed his mental health.
The fast trilogy with that speedy Jhin build and topnotch editing will forever be a staple to me.
Also remember when the league community channel was a thing? With helmet bro and the remixes of the champ voicelines? It's sad they abandoned that channel.
Such a shame he never made a 4th one, would have completed it
The Fast trilogy in my mind is absolutely legendary and a genuine core memory.
At least Sunny,Dark,Nicky is still active on League
Also Magikarp is getting sucked back into the LOL addiction unfortunately haha
I think necrit has shaped the lore part of lol
Eh, mostly because he's the only one who cares
Lore dosnt make the game fun tho 😂. I would 95% of players DONT care about lore.
The thing is what killed fun in league is eSports. Period. Everyone wants to go pro. Even in normals people say " whats the best build in master+ for my X Champ" 😊 .
@@ImHydro16Addition: Riot also nerfs it into the ground whenever the community tries to have fun with an off meta build.
As a personal example: shotgun Sona was not that good in recent years, and my main girl still got nerfs, making a more fun off meta build go from slight troll but very fun into hard inting
The company actively nerfs characters to shape them into the role they accept them as
Should definitely mention LoneCoyote who jump started the entire era of _.exe videos and hompty who does League of Legends combo videos.
Agreed, he was a legend back then.

he will be in the bigger video 🗣️🔥
@@DumbsLIVE Nice can't wait. Please do backbreaking (FUN) Labour for us Mr. Dumbs!!!
Rav is fun when you watch 3-4 videos. Then it gets repetitive with the text to speech voice and constant complaining.
Aintnoway that lazy text to speech guy is mentioned among good league creators.
on my side i don't have the impression that league fun content is dying, but more like ALL video game fun content is disappearing. For some reason, the "fun" in competitive games like league or smash don't work a lot these days mainly because people feel more interested in playing in competitive rather than casual. I know that there has been a time on twitter where basically everyone was whining and laughing at smash youtubers for doing funny montage videos about a character.
actually a fair point, I think it might be that just the general YT audience is growing everywhere
What? No. bg3 content is fire and getting more views than ever
Because everyone is trying to be the next ninja. Back then there was barely any monetary incentive and so games were just played for fun and enjoyment. Today everyone is sweating 100% of the time, gaming used to be a hobby that you do for fun but now it is treated as a fulltime job
Pianta should be there,
Or Bunnyfufuu for old times sake.

Can we talk about Instalok? Jesus. They made hilarious banger songs.
That brought back so many memories! They were amazing, I loved them!
I havent played league in a few years, after playing it for almost 10 years, but I still listen to their old songs lol
Am looking forward to the full, movie-length history of league content creation!
WhyGuy is definitely worth mentioning! His editing, storytelling and Text-To-Speech voice over was so much fun! Especially when he had his outfit to pose into the camera after a play. He turned playing ranked into an anime xD
Riot has patched the fun out of the game and streamligned it for competitiveness. Which is also why I stopped playing. Not only is the gameplay becoming more boring with every season, but ranked is not rewarding and I do not like playing to accomplish nothing

There's this animator, Robator , who has been creating funny lol animations for 7 years. Sadly he have ~4,4k views per video (not including latest), It's so sad. I wish he had more.
And 4 days ago he lost ability to monetize hes videos and have active Channel Members. :(
His animation quality is phenomenal, arguably the best in the community. I hope you could mention him in your new video...

I watched all creaters you have mentioned but i remember watching Pianta. With his paint thumbnails and fun voiceover over gameplay it makes league look, well fun
Im gonna mention an oldie but gold. SivHd. I remember nearly choking laughing with his jukes tutorials on leblanc and a stupid quote from an ashe video “if you have more than one 1 hp, you are good to go” and this shit is a core memory to this day
I remember old skooch video i think it was pyke he said one funny line. Riot has taken fun out of leage o legeds
Those were the times :)
OP Guides, Lol Facts, Spandauer Inferno, Rentner Interviews (Pensioner interviews) HandOfBlood and the entire Team of Summoners Inn definitely shaped the German Lol scene but I think these were the peak times and we have been on a decline since then.
Your (Dumbs') "Asleep" video and Worlds Stuff are the bombs too
Also wanted to mention a youtuber, whose name I, unfortunately, don't remember.
Please do not forget Nathanielbee's Lee Sin compilation. It was one of the first videos that truly lit up my passion for league 12 years ago.
not sure if anyone remembers but I gotta mention TheLoLhounds' Bronze Spectates, shit was funny af
I remember Instalok and their League Parody songs. Those were the days. And fun fact, they also try out builds and comps from their songs until they discontinued it sad. But yeah it was pretty fun back then.
I’m glad to hear that I wasn’t the only one to feel League was less and less fun, impacting directly the fun in making videos. It’s quite sad 😔
Instalok needs to be talked about!
I do not even remember the original songs they parodied. I can only sing the Instalok version.

Nate150k deserves a massive mention, his content is amazing and deserves a mention as one of the modern for fun creators
Lone Coyote has to mentioned in that video his content was good

This might come out of left field and I have not seen him mentioned yet but anybody remember Dante Axe and his Randomville Series?
PLEASE talk about the channel "unbannable" (now named johnny, has clarity spell pfp)
he was a breath of fresh air during the ".exe" video genre craze, as his mesmerizing editing style, music choice, and comedic timing was on point
instead of just putting a random meme before a play and just out of nowhere, every edit has a purpose and a lot of thought behind it.
he since retired from youtube but i always go back to his videos for a good laugh and for pure spectacle
Talking about competitive integrity when champs like K'sante and soon Ambessa are in the game lmao
One thing I want to add about the game being more competitive than fun:
NOTE: DOES NOT APPLY TO RANKED
A vast majority of the players today are waaaaay too focused on winning through going metas rather than trying out-of-the-box builds and comps.
@@SiMeGamer if the solution is to sign a fricking contract then trully "fun" is dead and burried...
@@lorpuz4664 how? You accept the intent of the mode, meaning it softens frustrations and aligns expectations.
I want to add
The communities are trying to find off meta fun
It's just when they find something fun that has a winrate even close to 40%, Riot notices and nerfs the champ from ever being able to do that again
Sadly the vods where CholeraNinja explained everything in detail are gone and you just have my word.
rip CholeraNinja hope he is living a fulfilling life offline
i feel like we should give some credits to SivHD. his vids were always fun to watch
He is definitely cooking and killing it with the edits and it really makes Tobias' pain in Ranked pretty fun to watch xd
one of the older videos of league i remember watching was Disco Heat's League of Children series, specifically MOVEMENT SPEED HECARIM
its really ironic. theres literally so much low-effort content now (which is boring in general), because those that WANT to put in the effort, CANT, because the game doesnt allow it due to broken tools.
Talk about WhyGuy i got me back into league some years ago
Real ones remember Machinima Realm
i wanna know what happened to chilling smite, idk if i missed an announcement or something but he just vanished from everywhere
The game needs modding support and a replay system that isn't shit to last forever
godzu has to be mentioned atleast once.
Mind you i don't watch alot of league content creators with the ones being the ones previously mention, RossBoomsocks, Necrit, darkk Mane, Herald_NA, Nicolai ,Exil (Im aware 2.0) and this weird guy call Dumbs from time to time
Also as another comment pointed out its not just league that's running out of for fun content, content in general has become more about having one main clickbaity catch and making the the video around that catch aka the Mr.Beast style of content (im aware 3.0 and lets not talk about him) at least for me the highly edit banter content that i like is more common on small or older channels stuff like SobietWumble being a great example
Sorry for the long comment im not good a keeping things concise (• ▽ •;)
His subscriber numbers tanked and the backlash was so bad he had to make an apology video.
and nowadays she's doing better tho!
@@DumbsLIVE nice! :D I'm glad their in a good place. Can't hold onto something that happened 10+ years ago.
Siv HD didn’t get a mention 😢
Riot keeps removing the funny stuff and trying make the game more and more competitive
I would love you to talk about pianta (mostly his competetive funny tenmo player series, just the old one) also rtb and kshaway.
And I can’t wait like half a year for that vid to come out :3
YOU HAVE TO TALK ABOUT FROST PRIME, I LOVE THAT MAN WITH MY WHOLE EVERYTHING
one of my favorite league content creators and the one who actually made me pick up the game and learn it past just playing 3 - 4 games every few months is actually Rav,
Lone Coyote, Kshaway and Skooch. Mentions are the three smites. Iconic compilations
My man Trinimmortal did "Last Pick" and "Beat League" back in the day, he came back recently and he's doing "Beat League" again with a more healthy (for him) formula.
Trinimmortal is a must talk about, his beat league series was always a favourite of mine, the last pick stuff was amazing and ofc the dancing!
