This question has lived rent-free in my head for over a year. It probably should never have been asked, nor answered. Anyway, who is the worst AP champion in the game?
Will ksanty with full ap won't be either tanky or dealing damage because he scaling with resisting only so i think he is the one even if he have stones and dashes Unlike ahri he won't be able to avoid damage like her than he won't live to stone anyone
After a little research, talon, Mundo, zed, naafiri, samira and Olaf are the ones with no ap scaling or cc. Samira has some utility with W, so she’s too good. Naafiri has her dogs, they apply spell effects very good, so u can build a lot op burn ap items and have good poke, making her too good. Mundo scales too well with hp, so he’s too good. Zed has magic dmg on passive, so he can benefit from magic pen, making him too good. Now talon and Olaf, imo, talon is worse, cuz Olaf scales well with aa, so nashor’s tooth and lichbane would make him ‘work’. Talon has nothing at all, just a 1 sec slow on returning W. Maybe he can do something with Lichbane, but still worse than Olaf. So, according to my research, talon is the worst AP champion in LoL.
I remember seeing a video or something on AP Garen where he basically built liandries to apply the burn via Garen spin and have a shadowflame to increase ult true dmg, i wouldn't call it "the worst AP" and I'd reckon that Garen being Garen just makes it viable. And I loved the video by the way, it's nice seeing your videos increase in quality over the years. Much love and i can't wait to see more.
Shadowflame does make the ult crit, but only under 40% max HP. And max lvl garen ult does 35% missing HP + 450 flat makes him kill most enemys under 40% either way
@@muslimann7483 35% missing hp+450 flat damage to get an enemy to below 40% hp so u can activate shadowflame 35% missing hp=65% current hp. to get it down to 40% with 450 flat damage,the 450 must be 65-40=25% of max hp. so an 1800HP enemy(which is easily reachable in lvl16 where garen ult becomes lvl3) is needed to make shadowflame useful. an enemy below 1800HP(almost nobody) will not require the shadowflame crit. so shadowflame on garen actually does the trick against anyone with 1800+HP.
Funnily enough, before Aurelion Sol was reworked, he was very much fine with building AD. I even loved to. You could go Manamune and Ravenous Hydra, and every star would trigger those passives individually. Additionally, none of his abilities competed with his auto-attack.

I’d say Samira is probably the worst AP character. The only synergy I can see on her is riftmaker giving her vamp. But outside of that she’s so tied so heavily to crit AD and lifesteal not even building attack speed items like nashors would help. Only thing I can see being ok on her is riftmaker, ryalize, to attempt to survive and apply that slow across the enemy team.
Okay sooo.... AP samira is BAD.... BUT.... there is a pretty fun AP build on samira. Dark harvest, Blackfire torch, Luden's, Liandry's, Shadowflame + 2 more AP items. and you just spam that CTRL+2 taunt. One taunt deals around 500 damage w this build, it's amazingly fun to build on featured gamemodes. The joy you get from getting a kill is other-worldly
Zed literally has 0 AP scalings. Zed will full combo a squishy and deal 10% of their HP. He becomes a minion when built AP. Atleast samira can AA with nashors.
@arcanegale285 that passive doesn't scale with ap. That passive also only applies when they are low and won't really execute someone. So sure you can build pen and onhit AP, but how exactly are you supposed to AA people when you are a squishy champ building AP with no AA resets? Best AP Zed can do is ult a low HP squishy, auto for passive (which deals like 10% max hp damage), then try to escape as his Q is pretty much worthless. Also he can only do this to champs every 10 seconds. Best case scenario is that Zed can deal like 250 damage per target teamfight, and that's at full build AND guaranteeing passive procs. If they're not below 50%, you're not dealing any damage. This is while being melee, and being squishy yourself. Driven can play like a normal adc with nashor atleast AA multiple times and deal more damage than 250 in a teamfight
@@danielsan2397 i think kayn is worse since his passive isnt even a precentage its an amount of the damage he already does but since ur full ap he does no damage , only works for blue since red still has like 8% maxhp on q and some more on R also i think naafiri is a good participant
I respect you so much for doing these things with premades and making it known as well. Too many times do people get cheeky with their "experimenting" and "having fun" that they subject others involuntarily to their shenanigans. Doesn't matter if it's Ranked or Normal. It's perfectly reasonable not want to queue up and be a part of some nonsense that they didn't sign up for.
I played an aram game where we had five mages, and I was a Vel'koz. I decided to "adapt". (This is an excuse, I just wanted to SLAPP XD). So I went for crit. I actually was like 2nd best damage on my team, and difference between first place was just like 2k. This was so fun tho. Q still slows, and E is an excellent peeling, and yasuo couldn't windwall me
Ah, old AD Malzahar. That was the stuff. You'd charge the goon up in base lvl 1, walk top, the enemy Renekton or whatever thinks it's easy pickings, and then you murder him. That's how it went every single time. How I miss it.
Before watching the video: The thing to look into is aa windup and recovery as well as how easy you can transition from attacking into moving. Since every champ has differing timers for that it should be looked at first. Then there is attackspeed-scaling as not every champ works the same with Attackspeed they aquire. For example look at Caitlin building berserkers vs a Jinx. Then there is range and projectile speed that, of course are important but not as much as the animations.
AD Fiddle only has the ult 5 men fear going for it, with the auto attack animation taking a Morgana Q to go off. If your team can't 4v5 while the enemy is CCed for 1.5 seconds, then you automatically lose the game as you can't possibly win in the lane.
Ad xerath, can't auto during q, w with no ap is awful, e is generic slow skillshot stun that won't save you if you get caught out(stun duration based on distance traveled) and his ult will lower your dps if you build ad. Building tank Xerath will not save your soul from hell either. The difference between plastic bowl and ceramic bowl is only how many pieces it'll turn into when it gets curb stomped. The ceramic will at least have a last ditch possibility of cutting the enemy laners foot or something. also unlike the cosmic Asshole worm, Xerath doesn't have an infinite scaling bonus.
Fun fact: I was an old Asol main, and surprisingly AD was pretty fun with his old kit. You had your Q for stun, W to peel and speed-boost to reposition yourself, E to travel and your ult as a "GET THE FUCK AWAY" button... it was really fun honestly
Honestly, before the rework AD Sol was actually viable since his stun was on his Q, meaning that you could do a burst of auto attacks on an enemy while they were stunned, and his stars would add a little bit of damage over time that would add up as the fight went on. Then Riot got rid of his stars and thus he lost all of his sustainability in a fight
I feel like a lot of newer player’s first thought on “who the worst AD is” is probably soraka but they never got to experience the hell that was Banana top lane
looking at AD champions to mess around with AP, I've tried AP Talon w/ a friend, it feels awful, sure, he has a slow and super mobile, but AP gives him nothing, short of just AP items synergize with themselves better, his passive becomes non-existant, and he has no executes or max health damage, so unless you build AP tank, or attackspeed.exe, he becomes existing striclty as a "hey look I'm free gold" distraction in hopes someone is dumb enough to chase into your team or waste enough time for the rest of the team to capitalize
The worst ap champion hands down is Draven. His q doesn't breach 70 damage, w is only attack speed and move speed and really wants you to commit to the q, e has abysmal base damage and cooldowns, and his ult doesnt have an excusable base damage to build around cdr. Zero ap scalings and a kit that is hyper focused on autos makes him far worse than other options. Even darius still gains ad through passive to actually get usable stats, and decent base damages and synergies (true damage on ult for shadowflame... kinda)
Draven is on my radar currently to be one of the worst (at least bottom 3). I'm not exactly looking forward to playing him. As you say, the E cd is abysmal and can't even be a decent Liandrys poke bot, Nashors/Lich Bane is is his best option to do... something.
@CryoBeat Draven atleast has the ability to build Nashor and AA from range. Zed has no AP scalings, and is melee so you can't reliably auto anyone without getting blown up. All you can do is Confuse people with your flashy shadow swap combos that deal 0 damage to squishy ADCs. AP Zed is the worst AP champion in the game.

I played AD Evelyn on ARAM as a dare with some friends. Triforce + bruiser items. Actually wasn't too bad other than her ult being absolutely useless and the fact that come 3, 4 items, you are quickly outscaled.
Who wakes up in the morning and says: "you know what I want to do? I want to play every champion that is bad with ad and spend hours feeling miserable just to find the worst one out of them." This sound like torture to me.
i remember playing old OfA (one for all) full crit velkoz, because my friends wouldnt build anything but AP, and trust me, years ago, atleast one of the team players had to go off-meta builds. Never had so much fun since that game bro, idk why but full crit velkoz got me 20 kills and very few deaths
2:04 wow, never even realised Kayn was so old that nashors, boots, guinsoo and tear still had their old models. Playing since early S3 really messes with how you perceive what is old in a game 😂
I think the only way to make AD Vlad remotely functional is if you build Heartsteel and somehow get 1500+ stacks, because you would have some actual AP to just play regular Vlad... but still worse.

ok ok ok but hear me out, Rammus would suffer so much with these restrictions. think about it. his E would just kill him if he was only about to build AD and AS, and his W would help a bit with staying alive, but the -MS would destroy his build. his Q would only be used to get away ye, same for his ult. his melee range is also very small and I think you wouldn’t be able to do anything at all in any team fights ever because of it. at least the 3 champs in this video are ranged which opens up for kiting
My prediction before I watch it all, I'm pretty sure it has to be Karthus, but then again he does have a self peel with the wall slow and there certainly has to be worse.
I used to do solo kill several times when I play Yuumi top, especially against Yone. Her passive is pretty strong, and combine with E shield make her become quite durable top laner. Yuumi ad is still far from the worst for sure.
FUN FACT Old Aurelion Sol was actually really fun to play as an adc, Q gave you self peel stun, W gave movespeed on de-activation, e was just long dash, and R was even more self peel that left champs at just about your auto range
As a singed main , some ad items arent that bad on singed like hullbreaker for splitpushing and serpents fang for teamfights as each tick of poison removes shields. Shojin and triforce also works surprisingly decent and i actually do play SOME crit singed. Wouldnt recommend
i actually played some ap pyke, because you could everfrost from w and lich bane with rabadons is more damage than not having lich bane and rabadons i guess + extra style points for using zhonyas in your ult blink
I haven't watched the video yet, but I'll just say it. Its Karthus. No AD ratios, no CC, extremely squishy, high mana costs, slow move speed, has an MR shred that will be useless and he can't auto-attack in his passive ghost form
the range lol. Karthus has like 300. The lowest of any ranged mage. He's designed to rely on his Q for farming. Just surviving laning phase already seems like a challenge on its own
honnestly, i think the range by definition makes a champion ok with ad ish, like, to find something trully awfull we should look at a champion whose auto attacking in itself is so abysmall that they cant just be usefull in fight with good placement and kitting. maybe something like mordekaiser or amumu ? sejuani ? any of those ap tanks juggernauts who would build no ap or tank whatsoever would litterally just be a free bag of gold. like aurelion with a full adc build will always be able to dish out good dps, but amumu even witth a full adc build will always get oneshot before dishing any dmg whatsoever
anyway, havent given it as much thought as you, but just by the top of my head, BY DEFINITION, range auto attacks are insanelly op on any champion who must auto attack as their main source of everything, that alone makes ad somewhat viable on all range champions. we must look for something whom couldnt even get reedeemed by that.
I wouldn't suggest vlad to truly be a bad AD champ, he can go heartsteel, Bloodmail, and still will the lane because heartsteel makes him scale his passive for free, and bloodmail gives damage to autos, that besides the tank hydra and something like guinsoo to deal even more damage + navori to get his Q to survive even more.
@@Shogun_38 he also has really high mana costs, which an AD build would make worse, and again he's melee which means you'd have to ult towards them (using all your mana) and akwardly auto them to death and hope they don't CC you. it also has a horrible horrible laning phase, espeically vs AD characters.

@@Shogun_38 he doesn't have a suppress, it's an interrupt (0,2s silence), which is about the weakest CC in the game. suppress is like Malzahar, an uncleasnable stun that also locks the user.
@@atoucangirl Kassadin has inbuilt mana scalings and high mobility, which means muramana kassadin is less of a joke than any of the champions presented here. Plus, Kassadin also has inbuilt mana sustain in his W, which means that the high mana costs are slightly deceptive.
I know that she's nowhere near being the worst but i still would consider it bad for the bait that is ap briar, she just has a big ap ratio on her scream if the enemy hits the wall and thats it, one might think that her q would make it possible but her stun is shorter than than the charge time for the scream and puts you on top of the enemy meaning that you have to pray that the enemy doesn't moving or having to move a bit and waste the stun, the only way that this meme build "work" before was thanks to everfrost which is a now deleted item To think that ap garen with 0 ap scaling is probably a better build really makes you think how stupid garen is Edit: also hitting the wall in the first place is already something that happens out of luck when playing briar, so your also forcing yourself to play in a way where your always in a choke point and pray that the enemy doesn't just go behind you on accident trying to attack you
AP briar goes glacial augment for setup, and the changes they made to her to kill lethality were actually buffs for AP briar (including them just adding an AP ratio on her Q) Not only is she not the worst, AP briar is hidden viable and ive played it successfully in emerald
Ap briar plus anivia is super fun botlane combo. You always execute briar E as you get like 2s stun out of briar q, anivia q and briar E onto anivia wall. You also clear every wave in an instance after min 10. The only way it can grif your team is if the rest of the team is heavy ap and you really get punished in lane until min ~10. Was pretty consistent in diamond
Fiddlesticks. He has karthus' slow attack speed and projectile speed, but he can't even keep autoing after he dies. His fear is the only hope he has to do literally anything.
There are worse since she has an AP ratio on her W on hit, odds are Samira or Nilah are the best contenders for worst ap champion. All of the other champs that don't have AP ratios either have decent utility or can still manage some level of BS through their base kit.
There is a creator called Ozlu that has attempted this idea 4 years ago. Qiyana has a 45% Ap scaling on her W that applies bonus damage when holding an element.
You should’ve mentioned Rell too. Not only does she have the slowest attack speed in the game when mounted and super short range, but she also barely deals any damage, lol. When she’s dismounted, her attacks are decent, but she’s so slow you’ll probably end up dead anyway. At least she gets 12% bonus armor scaling with AD though :)
Yeah but she just builds bruiser items with armor and HP, and she just gives so much utility it doesn't matter she doesn't deal damage, that's what she does anyways
The worst AP is probably many champs, if a champ has actually zero AP scalling, it just doesn't work. Champs like Darius, Draven, Garen, Samira, Nilah, Pyke, Poppy, Talon, Kled, Urgot, etc. They all simply lose their kit, and it's not like ap based champions building ad, beacause every single chamo can use AD to some level, as every champ has auto-attacks, but not every champ can use AP
I would like to throw my hat into the ring on worst AP champion by mentioning Naafiri. The dog has 0 AP ratios, no magic damage, and is an assassin meaning their whole utility comes from trying to burst people which they cant do without AD.
do you think your conclusion would be different viewing it from a lense of worst in terms of percieved difference in effectiveness? like as you say anivia wall and stun are still anivia wall and stun, viewing it from a scale of 'ok well that play literally didnt matter what build i was anyway' perspective make say something like singed (who i would have thought as among the worst coming in tbh but asol points was like yeah ok fair) among the worst instead of say karthus?

velkoz has good base damage and an instant auto attack which makes attackspeed builds somewhat ok. Still really bad. But not as bad as asol.

His q doesn't breach 70 damage, w is only attack speed and move speed and really wants you to commit to the q, e has abysmal base damage and cooldowns, and his ult doesnt have an excusable base damage to build around cdr. Zero ap scalings and a kit that is hyper focused on autos makes him far worse than other options. Even darius still gains ad through passive to actually get usable stats, and decent base damages and synergies (true damage on ult for shadowflame... kinda)
Draven is on my radar currently to be one of the worst (at least bottom 3). I'm not exactly looking forward to playing him.
As you say, the E cd is abysmal and can't even be a decent Liandrys poke bot, Nashors/Lich Bane is is his best option to do... something.

Draven atleast has the ability to build Nashor and AA from range. Zed has no AP scalings, and is melee so you can't reliably auto anyone without getting blown up. All you can do is Confuse people with your flashy shadow swap combos that deal 0 damage to squishy ADCs. AP Zed is the worst AP champion in the game.
@@danielsan2397 Funnily enough, Zed may still not be the worst, because you can build Liandry's and Blackfire to make his E and Q burn the targets while staying safe. Yeah, it's not the greatest... But something tells me the worst AP champ may not be as clear cut.

I played AD Evelyn on ARAM as a dare with some friends. Triforce + bruiser items. Actually wasn't too bad other than her ult being absolutely useless and the fact that come 3, 4 items, you are quickly outscaled.

i remember playing old OfA (one for all) full crit velkoz, because my friends wouldnt build anything but AP, and trust me, years ago, atleast one of the team players had to go off-meta builds. Never had so much fun since that game bro, idk why but full crit velkoz got me 20 kills and very few deaths

iv always concidered it Azir since his soldiers overwrites his normal attack, but you have to differentiate between ad and onhit for it
You can just use basic attacks on Azir and he's essentially a stock standard ADC. Surely not the best, but not too awful.

I think the only way to make AD Vlad remotely functional is if you build Heartsteel and somehow get 1500+ stacks, because you would have some actual AP to just play regular Vlad... but still worse.

With the recent Asol nerfs to his scaling, E went from 200% down to 60%. He is rejecting ap as well, tank Asol on the other hand is nice.

ok ok ok but hear me out, Rammus would suffer so much with these restrictions. think about it. his E would just kill him if he was only about to build AD and AS, and his W would help a bit with staying alive, but the -MS would destroy his build. his Q would only be used to get away ye, same for his ult. his melee range is also very small and I think you wouldn’t be able to do anything at all in any team fights ever because of it. at least the 3 champs in this video are ranged which opens up for kiting
My prediction before I watch it all, I'm pretty sure it has to be Karthus, but then again he does have a self peel with the wall slow and there certainly has to be worse.

I used to do solo kill several times when I play Yuumi top, especially against Yone. Her passive is pretty strong, and combine with E shield make her become quite durable top laner. Yuumi ad is still far from the worst for sure.
FUN FACT Old Aurelion Sol was actually really fun to play as an adc, Q gave you self peel stun, W gave movespeed on de-activation, e was just long dash, and R was even more self peel that left champs at just about your auto range

As a singed main , some ad items arent that bad on singed like hullbreaker for splitpushing and serpents fang for teamfights as each tick of poison removes shields. Shojin and triforce also works surprisingly decent and i actually do play SOME crit singed. Wouldnt recommend
i actually played some ap pyke, because you could everfrost from w and lich bane with rabadons is more damage than not having lich bane and rabadons i guess + extra style points for using zhonyas in your ult blink

I haven't watched the video yet, but I'll just say it. Its Karthus. No AD ratios, no CC, extremely squishy, high mana costs, slow move speed, has an MR shred that will be useless and he can't auto-attack in his passive ghost form
the range lol. Karthus has like 300. The lowest of any ranged mage. He's designed to rely on his Q for farming. Just surviving laning phase already seems like a challenge on its own

honnestly, i think the range by definition makes a champion ok with ad ish, like, to find something trully awfull we should look at a champion whose auto attacking in itself is so abysmall that they cant just be usefull in fight with good placement and kitting. maybe something like mordekaiser or amumu ? sejuani ? any of those ap tanks juggernauts who would build no ap or tank whatsoever would litterally just be a free bag of gold. like aurelion with a full adc build will always be able to dish out good dps, but amumu even witth a full adc build will always get oneshot before dishing any dmg whatsoever
anyway, havent given it as much thought as you, but just by the top of my head, BY DEFINITION, range auto attacks are insanelly op on any champion who must auto attack as their main source of everything, that alone makes ad somewhat viable on all range champions. we must look for something whom couldnt even get reedeemed by that.
What about Xerath? All his kit is made to stay at far range, meaning going into auto range often just means death.
I wouldn't suggest vlad to truly be a bad AD champ, he can go heartsteel, Bloodmail, and still will the lane because heartsteel makes him scale his passive for free, and bloodmail gives damage to autos, that besides the tank hydra and something like guinsoo to deal even more damage + navori to get his Q to survive even more.

surprised Kassadin wasn't present. he doesn't really have CC and he's melee.
He talked about suppression being too good by itself. And Kassadin also has a slow, a magic shield and a dashing ult.
@@Shogun_38 he also has really high mana costs, which an AD build would make worse, and again he's melee which means you'd have to ult towards them (using all your mana) and akwardly auto them to death and hope they don't CC you. it also has a horrible horrible laning phase, espeically vs AD characters.

@@Shogun_38 he doesn't have a suppress, it's an interrupt (0,2s silence), which is about the weakest CC in the game. suppress is like Malzahar, an uncleasnable stun that also locks the user.
@@atoucangirl Kassadin has inbuilt mana scalings and high mobility, which means muramana kassadin is less of a joke than any of the champions presented here. Plus, Kassadin also has inbuilt mana sustain in his W, which means that the high mana costs are slightly deceptive.

Ad aurora, with her abyssal damage with ad, I don't even know how you would win unless your opponent trolls.
I know that she's nowhere near being the worst but i still would consider it bad for the bait that is ap briar, she just has a big ap ratio on her scream if the enemy hits the wall and thats it, one might think that her q would make it possible but her stun is shorter than than the charge time for the scream and puts you on top of the enemy meaning that you have to pray that the enemy doesn't moving or having to move a bit and waste the stun, the only way that this meme build "work" before was thanks to everfrost which is a now deleted item
To think that ap garen with 0 ap scaling is probably a better build really makes you think how stupid garen is
Edit: also hitting the wall in the first place is already something that happens out of luck when playing briar, so your also forcing yourself to play in a way where your always in a choke point and pray that the enemy doesn't just go behind you on accident trying to attack you
AP briar goes glacial augment for setup, and the changes they made to her to kill lethality were actually buffs for AP briar (including them just adding an AP ratio on her Q)
Not only is she not the worst, AP briar is hidden viable and ive played it successfully in emerald
Ap briar plus anivia is super fun botlane combo. You always execute briar E as you get like 2s stun out of briar q, anivia q and briar E onto anivia wall. You also clear every wave in an instance after min 10. The only way it can grif your team is if the rest of the team is heavy ap and you really get punished in lane until min ~10. Was pretty consistent in diamond

There are worse since she has an AP ratio on her W on hit, odds are Samira or Nilah are the best contenders for worst ap champion. All of the other champs that don't have AP ratios either have decent utility or can still manage some level of BS through their base kit.
There is a creator called Ozlu that has attempted this idea 4 years ago. Qiyana has a 45% Ap scaling on her W that applies bonus damage when holding an element.

You should’ve mentioned Rell too. Not only does she have the slowest attack speed in the game when mounted and super short range, but she also barely deals any damage, lol. When she’s dismounted, her attacks are decent, but she’s so slow you’ll probably end up dead anyway. At least she gets 12% bonus armor scaling with AD though :)
Yeah but she just builds bruiser items with armor and HP, and she just gives so much utility it doesn't matter she doesn't deal damage, that's what she does anyways

The worst AP is probably many champs, if a champ has actually zero AP scalling, it just doesn't work. Champs like Darius, Draven, Garen, Samira, Nilah, Pyke, Poppy, Talon, Kled, Urgot, etc. They all simply lose their kit, and it's not like ap based champions building ad, beacause every single chamo can use AD to some level, as every champ has auto-attacks, but not every champ can use AP

I would like to throw my hat into the ring on worst AP champion by mentioning Naafiri. The dog has 0 AP ratios, no magic damage, and is an assassin meaning their whole utility comes from trying to burst people which they cant do without AD.

do you think your conclusion would be different viewing it from a lense of worst in terms of percieved difference in effectiveness? like as you say anivia wall and stun are still anivia wall and stun, viewing it from a scale of 'ok well that play literally didnt matter what build i was anyway' perspective make say something like singed (who i would have thought as among the worst coming in tbh but asol points was like yeah ok fair) among the worst instead of say karthus?
