      He was Mr Chen’s limo driver. SPOILER
      The limo driver killed her to protect Mr Chen. His confession is heartbreaking. I think it’s the only time I’ve also felt for the ‘bad guy’. Her aggression against his boss, her threats that he could barely understand, he was trying to keep her away, fight her off, and then she was just dead. You can just tell he was a good person, who did a horrible thing.

Realizing if Chen goes back to China to escape the lawsuit, he'd have to return back to China too, he killed Helen and tried to make it look like she torched herself in protest. I think that is partly procedural. They want to see the unprepared reaction to the photo especially in any suspicious death. How a person reacts to such news or a photo can sometimes imply they might have known the person was already dead and were in some way involved. Yes, it is kind of callous, but there is likely an investigative reason for it.

  • @MMuraseofSandvich
    @MMuraseofSandvich 4 ปีที่แล้ว +142

    It's sad that she didn't pay as much attention to US civics as her father did. Our justice system is incredibly flawed (we do have a history for unequal justice based on skin color and wealth), but the government is not allowed to arrest someone on mere suspicion alone (the unmarked federal troop thing will probably be made illegal next year if Trump loses). China, however, will not only arrest anyone on the whim of a high-ranking Communist, they will create an entire gulag system for those it deems undesirable, whether it's a Tibetan monk or a Muslim minority. The American system is slow and deliberate because we (in principle) want to get to the truth of the matter and do things right. China doesn't care if they screw up and kill innocent people or rob them of their freedom. That is the difference.

    • @Pgoodso
      @Pgoodso 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      "but the government is not allowed to arrest someone on mere suspicion alone"
      No, but as recent events prove, they are allowed to shoot them on mere suspicion alone, at least in the eventual practical sense. The offending government official might be charged and eventually tried, but they'll be able to go on vacation while waiting for a verdict, then likely get off scot-free and be able to get a job in Florida, even if (or seemingly ESPECIALLY if) they're fired from their original place of employment.
      "they will create an entire gulag system for those it deems undesirable, whether it's a Tibetan monk or a Muslim minority."
      The entire reason the modern American prison system exists is to imprison African Americans, immigrants, protesters, minor drug offenders, and the mentally ill, and convert them into free labor for profit. Justice might occasionally be served along the way, but that's not the system's purpose, if it ever was. I mean, China has 4x our total population and HALF the prisoners we do. Almost like there's an incentive to throw people in jail beyond justice. If that ain't a gulag system for undesirables, with an incredibly BROAD definition of "undesirable", I don't know what is.
      This isn't history. This is now.
