  • Light and dark, shadow and sun ... all these things come into play in this video about using light in nature photography to its best effect. Both stunning photographs and less stunning photos take their places in it to illustrate what happens under various outdoor conditions. Plants, birds and landscapes all play their parts in this kaleidoscope, as eagles and flowers blossom in their best light.

    I bought this camera earlier this year after watching some of your videos, and so far, I've been impressed with it. During the learning process, I didn't quite have the settings down for a storm chase and a lot of the images came out with a blue hue to the clouds. I think I had the white balance in daylight instead of cloudy. I mainly shoot in ISO 80 and sometimes 100. I've captured some pretty awesome shots of different things from wildlife to storms to big waves on Lake Michigan and more. I'm gonna have fun with this camera over the next few years.

    Hello Carl 😊 my hx400v arrived a week ago. You really are right - this camera can teach you photography, at least how to use the exposure settings. Am loving it. Have taken a few not-too-awful bird pics. Out of a few hundred 😂 but have learned a ton about the settings in a short time. Super happy with my purchase 😍

      Hi Colleen, Good! I"m glad you're having fun with the camera and getting to know it. Believe me, the bird pics are difficult, and as the old photography adage goes, you have to shoot a lot to get a little. It's always that way. All the best. Carl

    Hi Carl. Greetings from Germany. I love your videos a lot. I own the Sony DSC HX400V, as well as the Sony HX90V. Are your nature photos (for example the eagle) made with an tripod or by hand?

    • @carlreader8939
      @carlreader8939  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chucky. Thanks for the kind words. Most of my photos are hand-held. The macros use a tripod when necessary (low light or shot with the zoom extended). The eagle was hand-held, since I wasn't expecting to see it that day and it was pointed out to me. The stabilization works well. All the best. Carl

      I'm not sure what to use with Safari, but GIMP might have a version for you. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Thanks and all the best. Carl

    hy carl, is it possible to take blurred pics
    & videos from hx 400v. Please give me some suggestion

    • @carlreader8939
      @carlreader8939  ปีที่แล้ว

      At 24mm the lens opens up to f2.8, which will blur the background. Step back and use the long lens on your subject, which will also blur the background. All the best. Carl

    Were these all on manual focus?

    • @carlreader8939
      @carlreader8939  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, autofocus. I used flexible spot when possible to attempt to get the eye sharp.

      You're welcome. It will work on portraits, and has a portrait setting to begin with. I have a bunch of other videos, if you have the time. Have fun, and good shooting. All the best.
