    The 2024 Polestar 3 is only the second mainstream global model from the young Swedish-Chinese EV-maker and it’s being spruiked as a genuine performance vehicle - despite being a large electric SUV weighing almost 2.6 tonnes and offering up to 250mm of ground clearance.
    It won’t be cheap and the big, battery-powered SUV will not be offered with seven seats inside its luxurious yet minimalist Scandinavian interior - unlike upcoming Volvo EX90 sister model - because that just wouldn’t suit its athletic intent, insists Polestar.
    With whopping 380kW/910Nm outputs, sports-tuned Sachs suspension, big Brembo brakes and a clever torque-vectoring rear axle developed by Borg Warner, it certainly sounds capable on paper - but can something so big and heavy truly be fun and engaging?

    I am an Uber driver with a Polestar 2, and I had the pleasure of driving 300 miles on snowy/ice-rain streets over a weekend, and it was a pleasure. We don't get too my snow storms here, so I was anxious to test out if it's ability on the snow lived up to it's reputation. It did 100 fold. I had Michelin all season tires, but it felt like nothing could stop it, and these conditions were so bad that only a handful of drivers were out that weekend, the streets were white unplowed bliss. I was sure to turn off the lane keeping mode, so it wouldn't try to correct my steering. It kept the line beautifully. I could give it full pedal, and it would smoothly get up to speed, never losing control. No oversteering or understeering issues. That weekend was the most fun I have ever had driving a car. I am thrilled to get a Polestar 3, but I may have to hold off until late 2024, when the bar battery Lyten manufacturer begins to give a massive increase to EV range with solid state Litium Sulfur Batteries, Expected average range to be 600+ miles.

      That's a very premium car to work as an Uber driver in. Has the polestar 3 been listed on Uber exec?

      i’m not sure. I know another Uber driver drives a Mercedes EQS. I think he does it more as a hobby. He just hangs out at the airport mostly.

      i’ve been driving different electric cars over the last six months. One month I drove the Tesla model three, 2023. But it was single motor and I didn’t like the way it handled at all. But I’ve done over 40,000 miles on the Polester 2, 2023.

    Great video! Beautiful car. I really wish they would have went with a different trim inside with the piano black plastic. Wood trim would have been better.

      There are a couple of options for the interior trim, and we're pretty sure wood grain is on the list.

      Stock shares will only be good if everyone who own the shares also buy the cars. Already orderd mine. I’m upgrading to polestar from Tesla.

    Priced one up yesterday. Not even the most expensive model or all boxes ticked. Still ended up as AU$178k on road. Think I’ll wait to look at the Polestar 4. I doubt they’ll get many sales on this….theres plenty of performance models that get 0-100 in the 3-4 second mark. The nice bits over a Model Y are the electrochromatic sunroof and LiDAR/US sensors. No way spending almost double the price for those. Add to the fact there are so many aftermarket mods to do on a Tesla theres no wonder why Tesla outsells every other EV brand in every country.

    I bought into the hype and have lost 90% on the share depreciation. I love the look of the cars but that doesn't replace a $30k loss in share value.

    Polestar 1 was a SPORTSCAR Polestar 2 is a small sports sedan,Polestar 3 is a BIG suv,Polestar 4 is a smaller suv,Polestar 5 sports car,Polestar 6 sporty cabriolet...so basically every 2nd car is smaller that's what I get from the Polestar brand

    Not sure why you compared it to the Tesla Model X Ludacris for 0-60, the Model X Ludacris is way, WAY more expensive.

      True, but it doesn't even come close to say the new Porche Macan EV either at 0-60 in 3.3 sec, so it really lacks some on the performance front too, even Polestar tout it as a performance brand and model....

      @@philipkemp5129 0-60 isn't everything. When will people understand that? A Dodge Hellcat is fast as hell 0-60, but is it as good as a Porsche 911? No.

      @@philipkemp5129the Porsche Macan turbo is also way way more expensive. You are looking at more than 50k € of price difference for equal equipments. This Polestar 3 performance is to be compared to the Macan 4 which a bit is slower, and even though the Macan 4 is some thing like 20k € more for equal equipment.

      @@philipkemp5129 0-60 in 4.7s is very fast but you're right, not as fast as others. I also own a Challenger SRT 392 that does 0-60 in 4.2s and it's really fast so I don't hold much value in the 0-60s once you get below 5s. Even some reviews people talk about how nauseating high acceleration can be.

    Polestar was quite appealing back in 2020 when the EV is still dominated by Tesla Model S & X, but today, the competitive environment has changed, and they really need to reduce their pricing to remain competitive.

    why is the rear window covered in snow? that looks horrible for a review car! Doesn't it have a rear-defroster capability?!

      Good point, Polestar just secured a big loan from several global banks. But it is a loan and not a silver bullet.

      They only probably expect and aim to sell a few hundred thousand of those over the next few years, it's not meant to be an average person car like model 3 is.

    Polestar is making a huge mistake by NOT making their cars hybrids. Tesla has a lock on the market and even then there's lots of problems with their cars and their charging network. If Polestars were hybrids, like the Prius, they would sell like hotcakes. I bow to the automotive design team at Polestar. Superlative. The rear window delete on the Polestar 4 was a huge mistake, though, forcing people to rely on a digital interface at all times. The management made the wrong decision about making EVs only and it's costing them. We'll see how much longer Polestar survives because, at the moment, they are struggling. It's sad because Polestar deserves to succeed.

    Why do all these EV manufacturers markets their BEVs with the likes of supercar performance? Most normal family SUV dont need that kind of back pushing feeling. Certainly not with toddler and young kids in the car. 2.6 tonnes, gosh, i really do hope that owners of this morbidly obese vehicles pay more for road maintenance fee because they are certainly doing more damage to our roads.

      Not really. Here in Belgium it starts at 73000€. The performance version starts at 76000€. And fully equipped you arrive between 82000 and 85000€, which is less than the starting price of a Porsche Macan 4. And less than most of it’s rivals.

    Sorry but at $140-150k it is simply not worth it. EVs are already overpriced but cars like this take it to another level. It offers nothing over any other Chinese made EV other than better performance. Driving on prepared ice surfaces provides no real world evaluation. Any car would be fun on a track like that 😀 I just can’t see the value? Save $50k and buy a sub $100k ICE performance car if that is what you want. They are out there 😊
