Polestar 3 2024 review: New electric car targets BMW iX and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV with Swedish twist

  • The 2024 Polestar 3 is the all-new model that will put the Swedish electric vehicle specialist on the map. While the segment-straddling Polestar 2 mid-sizer came before it, the newcomer is a proper SUV of the large variety, meaning it has the zero-emissions BMW iX and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV firmly in its sights.
    So, what is the Polestar 3 doing to stand out from the crowd? Well, for one, there's its Scandinavian design, which helps it to set itself apart both inside and out. There's also its 610km driving range on the WLTP combined-cycle test - but that drops to 'just' 560km with its 380kW/910Nm Performance Pack optioned.
    In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Stephen Corby travels to Sweden to get an early taste of the Polestar 3 on ice before it arrives in Australia in its initial specification of a dual-motor powertrain and a 111kWh battery pack for $132,900 plus on-road costs.

      Indeed promising for 1st gen, but the rear seat is inmho unusable for adults on longer drives due to the high floor, = legs at an uncomfortable angle. Due to the battery I guess.

    Great design. Great looking car. Polestar has a great line up of vehicles going forward. PSNY stock is the most undervalued EV stock IMHO.

    Man this is a lovely car. If I had the money to burn, I wouldn't buy any of it's rivals. The simplicity of the design tugs at my heart's strings. Simply beautiful ❤️

    Very impressed with stats and design so far. Can't wait until it lands down under to have a closer look and consideration for purchase.
    It is number 1 on the EV list so far.

    Hi, are you sure that in motor way cuising just rear drive is disconnected?

    • @tobias_dahlberg
      @tobias_dahlberg 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm guessing they chose to disconnect the rear because the front can be more efficient, as it is lacking the clutch system for torque vectoring. Whereas in the Polestar 4, it doesn't have true torque vectoring on any axle, so it disconnects the front motor in that one instead.

    • @sailingandsomejokes
      @sailingandsomejokes 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tobias_dahlberg actually according to Polestar web site information, it is actually the front motor which is disconnected. And that is good thing, then each axle has a task of their own.

    over $100K for that small size...nah.. too much for me... i rather spent that money Model Y or Xpeng G6 or BYD Seal U for half of the price and i can add more if i wanna upgrade the spec. And If i want the luxurious then i go Nio EC7! But....
