GBO2 Gyan: "Le ding!"

  • This video contains two matches I had with the LV4 Gyan on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 400-550 cost raid with absolutely absurd melee damage, pretty good durability and fast boosting speed. Its weaknesses would be that it lacks reliable stun options, it has awkwardly narrowly melee animations, it lacks Forced Injectors and that it lacks LV2 Power Accelerator. The Gyan has always had a bit of a reputation as a meme suit, it obviously has extremely high melee damage but it lacks any good way to access it itself. Considering that it needs to use raw melee to land any melee hits usually, it can be best described as a support raid type that waits for allies to set it up. Both these games were pretty rough but I think that this is just how playing Gyan goes, you are gonna get counter tackled a LOT and end up getting beaten up. I hope that you enjoy watching!
Its primary weapon at LV4 is a needle missile launcher with 145 power, 30 ammo, 400 RPM, 8 seconds reload, 0.5 seconds swap time, 265m range, 965 DPS and 8% stagger value. This staggers in just under 2 seconds and has awkward missile velocity, making it unreliable to stagger enemies with. It also has mediocre DPS. Yet you will need to rely on this to stagger enemies a lot of the time, so you need to learn to use it despite how weak it is.
Its primary melee weapon at LV4 is a beam saber with 3220 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.5 seconds swap time, 80/64% combo modifier, 85% side swing modifier and 65%x3 downswing modifier. This weapon has extremely high base power and amazing modifiers, making it able of dealing incredible damage to anybody. Even generals can end up losing most of their HP if you can land a full combo. The issue lays in the fact that you lack any reliable way to land it on an aware enemy, so it is usually best to use it on enemies who have their backs turned or those who your allies have knocked over. The neutral swing is a slash type motion but rather slow, while the side swings are quick thrusts with good reach. The downswing is a series of repeating stabs. It is best to start combos with the side swings if you don't have an ally with you to set you up, but be wary of counter tackles.
Its first and only sub weapon is a floating mine launcher with 1150 power, 4 ammo, 1.5 seconds cooldown, 15 seconds reload, 0.5 seconds swap time, 200m range and 50% stagger value. These mines instant stagger and have a large splash radius, but their very slow velocity makes them impractical to use offensively. They can be good to use on an approaching enemy to get the jump on them, but be careful that you don't stun yourself.
The LV4 Gyan has 21000 HP, 18 ballistic resist, 22 beam resist and 30 melee resist. It is really durable for its size, which is helpful considering how much damage you will be taking with the inherently risky Gyan playstyle. It benefits from both LV2 Emergency Evasion and Maneuver Armor, but also has a 35% reduction buffer for the arm shield.
In terms of mobility it has 140 walk speed, 225 boost speed, 70 thrust and 72 turning speed. This seems like absolutely amazing mobility until you consider that it has no Forced Injector skill, making its movement pretty predictable.
Unfortunately, unlike more modern raids that have poor stun ability in return for excellent melee, it lacks any extra useful skills such as Offence System or Power Accelerator.
Overall I feel like the Gyan is a very weak raid at all costs it is available at. It has fast boosting speed and absurd melee damage but this is all it has going for it. Absurd damage doesn't really matter if you are unable to use it. It can follow allies around and wait for them to set it up, but a general or support might be better suited nuking knocked over enemies, and it still doesn't help when the Gyan needs to go actually take out the support. I think that it is in great need of an overhaul. They can't just give it a completely reliable instant stun or else it would break, but they can't just leave it in the current state it is in either. I think that it should get 450 RPM on the needle missile launcher, 10% stagger value on the needle missiles, improved velocity on the needle missiles, LV2 Forced Injectors, LV2 Power Accelerator, LV1 Offence System and improved travel time on the mines. This would hopefully make it more like a sidegrade of the Red Rider, having good enough stun accumulation paired with excellent melee ability. In its current state I think it would basically be throwing to take Gyan in rated match, so I would much sooner recommend the Red Rider if you want a completely melee focused raid for this cost range. Thanks for watching, and I hope that you enjoyed it!

This suit only works if you have a Gelgoog lure people into your mines.
Though I think its actually a pretty accurate depiction of everything we saw the Gyan do, with the exception of somehow laying out dozens of mines to float around under gravity. The Gelgoog won because this suit was designed around M'Quve's interests, instead of anything practical.

They must train before Gyan Krieger or Kai comes. One day we will have an actually good Gyan I believe.

I love running this thing at LvL 4. With the boost speed Overtune part and maxed melee damage, it boosts faster than most native 550 cost MS, and hits harder than it has any right too without needing to rely on some busted heavy attack.

It's actually so upsetting. Definitely one of the more talented old school abridge teams. It's worse that some of the videos are flagged now becoming lost media

Not saying the Gyan is good at native, but you definitely give it no credit by taking it to 550, IMO

This is definitely true. But regardless of cost it is getting fucked up tbh. If it gets a good buff I would probably play it again at 400-450.
