    There's something better. This plus the power button to turn it on. Called a killswitch. You can hid this anywhere in your setup and first flick this and then press the power button. Pretty cool if you don't want people to turn on your pc

      @@4Core100 anywhere in your desk, near your desk, maybe even on another device e.g. i have a 3d printer i could mount it on that people would think it's from that rather than from the pc. Keep in mind, it can be any momentary or latching switch, not necessarily the one in the vid. In my setup, i used my reset switch as my kill switch. The red cover actually flips the switch off when closed, it’s kinda like a “kill switch” or “e-stop”. You don’t usually use a momentary switch in combination with that red cover

      That red cover is often used in situations like a race car where the switch it turned on and then the red cover is later used to turn it off, helps with the tactile/visual confirmation when the switch is off and also helps the operator turn the switch off quickly in a emergency

If you want to make it work outside your home network, you would need something like a Raspberry Pi Pico to send the WOL packet to your PC, since it doesn't really work from the outside. You should make a tutorial on how to set this up so we can do it please

    • @myel8531
      @myel8531 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's extremely easy, doesn't really need a tutorial. All he's doing is connecting the two pins labeled "Power SW" on the motherboard to the two terminals on a switch. When the switch is pressed, current is allowed to pass from one pin through the switch to the other pin, starting the PC boot sequence. It's the exact same thing as momentarily connecting those two pins using a paperclip, head of a screwdriver, or anything conductive.
      I'm not sure where he got the custom cable, but you could easily make your own using wire and Dupont connectors, or just use wire and connect it to the pins using heat-shrink tubing or even electric tape.
