    The leaked Xbox controller has some interesting features, the most notable is the inclusion of an accelerometer, this video will explain why this is a missed opportunity.

    FAQ:
    Q: Can any controller do this?
    A: Most controllers since 2013 come with gyro sensors (excluding Xbox Controllers), so if you have a PS4, PS5, Joy-cons, switch pro controller, Steam Deck or any third party controller with a gyro sensor, yes, you can play with gyro aim.
    Q: Does gyro aim have Aim-Assist?
    A: Ideally, no. Aim-Assist can feel like a magnet against your inputs while using gyro. Since gyro is a mouse, most games don’t even allow for aim assist, but if you are emulating an analog stick instead of a mouse, aim-assist can be activated, if you so choose.

    As a xbox gamer, i agree 100%. And i wish that a new xbox controller could use gyro so i could play Halo and Gears using my actual aim and skill instead of Aim Assist.

      Quick question, do you know the difference between mouse like gyro and analog gyor. Because if not, and you dont care what kind of gyro you can use then theire is an option available.
      Do you know that some games just translate rightstick aiming to gyro? theire is an adapeter availabe that can actually do this for all games on xbox. therie aree actually two devices from the same company you can use. Big big won has the armor x pro wichi is an adapter for the xbox seris controller. it uses an app to make game profiles with different gyro senstivity's and you can rempa the 4 back buttons. They also sell a controller called the rainbow 2 pro. wich also uses the same app. both are somewhere around 60 -80 dollars. but you can play any game with gyro.
      The gyro on the adapter and the controller can also be used on pc as mouse gyro. The controller will just function as either an xbox controlle.r Xinput so no(no gyro). Or as a swotch controller. The armor x has a nintendo switch mode and a dualshock 4 mode. The differnece is switch has a lower polling rate and digital triggers. ps4 has a higher polling rate and analog triggers.
      Some games like Resident evil also uses analog gyro. But the implemtation is even worse. The offer no seperate settings for the rightstick and the gyro. The armor x still uses the same ingame aim / stick curve, but you have seperate settings in the app to make them different.
      There also is a more expensive option called the xim Nexus(150 dollars). It is a xbox style controller with gyro. The reason it is more expensive is becaue the company has made rightstick to mouse translation software that applies different filters to the analog aim curve of the game to make it feel more like a mouse. They use that same tehcnology to translate rightstick aim to gyro.
      But analog gyro has the same deadzones and acceleration and drag effect like the stick has. So it has the same limitations. You can spot the difference between mouse gyro and rightstick gyro by moving the controller really fast. Mouse gyro will pick up the fast movement and translate it 1:1. Rightstick gyro will slow down the camera if you exceed the maximum turn speed of the analog camera in the game. But on some games anallog gyro feels pretty good. Not as good as actuall mouse moement, but way better then stick. Hope this info helps you out

      Without aim assist on controller it would be almost impossible to aim. It would just frustrate everyone. Try shooting your teammates, that is what it would feel like to not have aim assist.

    It sucks that Microsoft is not adding a gyroscope to their controllers, but I'm hoping they only advertise the accelerometer as a wake up feature for xbox systems as the damage it would do to the perception of gyro would be big.

    As an XBox owner lack of native gyro on Xbox is it's biggest drawback as it makes it virtually useless for shooting games. Steam is best with Steam Input any game can use a modern controller to achieve gyro aiming. I have no idea who Microsoft released a console with controllers that are so out of date.

      @Some-guy-on-the-internet 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      For real. It's been over 18 years since they released the Xbox 360 and the only form of input they've ever added since then is the share button. They're essentially still using a near 20 year old design in a fresh coat of paint.

    I would never stop playing Halo 1 or Doom if they added that.

    The Wiimote's accellerometer is needed for the pointer function to work because otherwise it has no way of knowing if the wiimote is pointing one way or the exact opposite Roll position. This is also why if you very quickly move the wiimote downward while pointing at the sensor bar it can sometimes misread that as the wiimote pointing while upside down.
    Also while gyro is ok at emulating a pointer, I still prefer methods that use some sort of external reference because otherwise there's inevitably some sort of horizontal pointer drift that necessitates a button be assigned to re calibration.

    I wished FlickStick was available for Xbox. As it stands, PC is the best for motion aim controlling due to FlickStick. XIM Nexus is one of couple options that work well for Xbox, but emulates stick movement and thus requiring configs which could take a long time (or never)..

    • @caleasthetic
      @caleasthetic 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also analog gyro has a limited maximum turn speed. So if you move the controller to fast the camera will slow down. I have a xim Nexus and the armor x pr. but the armor x pro is a better option because you can have passthrough on pc with either the switch mode or dualshock 4 mode. and you have the option of wusing it on switch, xbox or playstation 4 titles. Maybe the stick to mouse / gyro translation is not as good as the nexus, but atleast you can also use it on pc , so you can map the moseu to the gyro.

    I’ve made a 3DOF motion aiming script for smartphones in Godot and I have to say the pitch and roll axes were serviceable even when only using the accelerometer. Still noticeably smoother when using gyro with drift correction for them tho.

    the only reason i want the Xbox Controller to have gyroscope and all the other motion sensor's is because most PC game's and software have the Xbox controller as based,
    many game and software dont have support on the motions sensors in general or don't have good gyroscope support because of this.
    so if Xbox controller 🎮 add better support thos software like unity it may add better gyroscope suport same with other software like game's.
    and this will be help every controller for handheld computers up to ps4 and every other device that wand to implement gyroscope.
    trust me i wnad to add gyroscope in the game im working on unity but i haven't found any easy why to implement gyroscope,
    i haven't found any tourials for how to implement in controller's
    and have found tutorials for how to add in VR and mobile but this not what im looking for.
    and im using unity one off the most popular game engine out there as far im award the only way to add gyroscope is with thos VR controller's that i mention and with Spefic API (or whatever the call)
    however if Xbox controller add gyroscope suport it's only a mater off time until unity add gyroscope support because if that happens all meager controller platform i will have gyroscope support.

    With 7th gen of consoles, Wii differentiated itself as a console for everyone. Its implementation of motion controls were quite gimmicky on third-party games and these were aped in PS3 too.
    Xbox took a stance as "the console for gamers ™️" and didnt include anything. Subsequently, that little bubble of Xbox gamers™️ never experienced actual gyro and still have that association. From Microsofts perspective, if its marginally cheaper to not include them per controller, they're probably happy thier users keep that mindset 😂

      Yeah, it can definitely feel like "forget everything you know!", not everyone wants or has the time to learn how to play with gyro, but I feel like it's even harder when most games have a terrible implementation, and when people don't understand how it works.
      I hope one day you can give it another go, on a game with actual good gyro, like cod:mw2 or 3, and Fortnite. (Assuming you haven't already).
      Cheers!

    • @tekgeekster
      @tekgeekster 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You kinda have to force yourself to learn. Try disabling the right stick first, then once you get the concept down, reintroduce it for making wide turns.
      There's a lot you can still do with the right stick in tandem with gyro. You just gotta relearn it.

    Microsoft just sucks. They started to suck ever since Xbox one launched. They're also trying their best to make sure you don't own the games and loose access to your games whenever they feel like it.
    And they basically fucked PC users by never implementing gyro on their standard controller API. Best PC controllers right now are any controllers other than xbox controllers.
