This one was over the top for me in terms of I've reached my "true crime" limit. This was such a nightmare because it could happen to anyone right now. I couldn't sleep the rest of the night and couldn't shake the insanity of it all day. Just too much reality.
I agree. Too awful. The nightmare was the police and others who should have been protecting her. I couldn't sleep either and it actually made me feel weird and depressed for a couple days. That's not Leah's fault though. I keep looking for ASMR uplifting stories with no success.
I had a neighbour who actually committed suicide, first he wrapped his sons upcoming birthday presents and then wrote letters to all his family, he then walked over 3 miles and hung himself. Before all of that he was pretending to leave for work etc, we found out after he hadn't been to work in over a year. So is it possible she committed suicide i think yes.
I’m so torn between it being Roy and being a police officer. I guess there was no immediate reason for it to start out being a police officer. Could Roy have paid off one police officer? I can’t be sure. Also, it’s weird that almost all police departments reached the same conclusion that Cindy did this to herself. I guess I don’t understand why she wouldn’t move to France with her family. I’m not blaming her, I left an abuser last year and went home for several months. I was tucked away and safe. Once he moved on, I was able to move back out on my own. It just blows my mind. The knot expert blows my mind. The needle mark blows my mind. This is certainly elaborate. I am sure she did suffer from an exacerbation of mental illness, but the fact that a “phantom” could drive her to that is outrageous. It seems like the work of a very devious psychiatrist - with medical training and perhaps with the help of the police. I am floored by this. In some moments, I believe she’s a victim, in others, it’s so hard to see the evidentiary proof. This one is going to sit with me for awhile. I hope her soul is at peace.
I actually did a paper on this case in high school and I compared all the findings and theories. I have no doubts Cindy was stalked and killed. If it was suicide some people suggested she was suffering from DID, but I highly doubt that because there wasn’t any other sign of it. I also think whoever took Cindy’s life was inexperienced and obsessive and messy so that’s why the first two attempts didn’t work. It seems like she might have been kept somewhere before they found her body. Roy should’ve been looked at wayyy more extensively. 🤦🏼♀️

This case actually reminded me of another case that I have heard, the womans name is Ruth Finley , but it was of an older woman that after her husband came home from the hospital all these horrible attacks started happening and she was getting things in the mail and phone calls and obscene things kept happening and she even stabbed herself. the police did as much as they could to help her. Until years later they found out that she was harrasing herself. she was called the poet. There is a movie about it or coming out, she has undergone therapy to help her understand why she did this, it was because of a traumatic experience from her childhood. Anyways awesome case, I don't think in this case that Cindy is doing it to herself like the woman Ruth did, it just reminded me of it for a second. Good job on the video!

As a parent who almost lost a kid, but also a person who’s found interest in true crime, I’ve tried to find people who retell victims stories in the most compassionate ways. You do the best job❤️ Also, on a lighter note, what is the almond tea you were drinking in one of the other episodes? I barely recall it because I fell asleep😂 I’m sorry!! The ASMR part kicked in.
Lorazepam is hardly ever given out as IV fluid. Killer likely a doctor, vet, or psychiatrist (the latter esp bc they would know how to gaslight someone into suicide bc they would know the threshhold for other people believing them vs telling them they were crazy). Also most people don't realize how hard it is to OD with it by mouth (puking, falling asleep by taking it too slowly, etc). EDIT: I slept through the beginning of this and didn't know about the ex when I made this comment.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your long true crime videos! My friend was actually in the same situation as Cindy and Roy. She was 19, he was 37 when they met at work, where he was her married boss. Fast forward 12+ years, they have the happiest marriage. (In Europe you are an adult at 18, so nothing illegal there) Though it is questionable it is totally legal to be in love an older person that is your boss. But still I worried a lot about her for the first few years.

There are some situations where it's very questionable though, of course. I think it just depends on the situation, if it's legal of course, and other factors as well. In this situation, I just felt like it wasn't okay because she was a student and he was her superior...I don't know, it just didn't feel right reading about it, and then it came out that he was abusive, so it wasn't a good marriage. I have nothing against big age gaps if the relationship is healthy and happy though.

I know I am late on commenting, but this case has always ticked me off. I honestly don’t think anyone else did this except her ex husband - he knew how to mind f someone. He was trained for it.
Hi Leah.. I love you and your wonderful and very informative videos. This case is somewhat similar to the Watcher case. Both people have been stalked and their stalker never found. Off course, Cindy’s case was much worse because of all the physical attacks and her ultimate death but there are some similarities.

Neil knows nothing about morphine apparently. From an addict I'm recovery- a lethal amount of morphine sets into effect in minutes, if injected- those minutes turn to seconds. This woman was failed by everyone.
This is strange indeed. I have questions, like why wouldn't her family asked her to move in with them so she would Not live alone? It seemed like nobody was following her when she was not home. Very bizarre case.
Tbh, I found the dog noise relatable ha. I'm a podcaster and I have a neighbor with a terribly behaved, really cute, but totally untrained dog. My dog is super well trained, and it sounds like yours is too, but there's no accounting for neighbors.

I know I am late on commenting, but this case has always ticked me off. I honestly don’t think anyone else did this except her ex husband - he knew how to mind f someone. He was trained for it.
Hi Leah.. I love you and your wonderful and very informative videos. This case is somewhat similar to the Watcher case. Both people have been stalked and their stalker never found. Off course, Cindy’s case was much worse because of all the physical attacks and her ultimate death but there are some similarities.

Neil knows nothing about morphine apparently. From an addict I'm recovery- a lethal amount of morphine sets into effect in minutes, if injected- those minutes turn to seconds. This woman was failed by everyone.

I have questions, like why wouldn't her family asked her to move in with them so she would Not live alone? It seemed like nobody was following her when she was not home.

Tbh, I found the dog noise relatable ha. I'm a podcaster and I have a neighbor with a terribly behaved, really cute, but totally untrained dog. My dog is super well trained, and it sounds like yours is too, but there's no accounting for neighbors.

Absolutely terrible what happened to Cindy. Glad that you took this story on and gave it the time it deserved. How the police constantly fuck up and don't give a shit about cases like this in B.C. is very disturbing.
