- Happy Monday! Welcome back for another whispered scary story / true crime. Today we're covering the FIRST video about the origins of Bloody Mary. Most of the stories associated with the terrifying game are legends, but today's story is 100% true. Grab a drink or a snack, get cozy, and lets get into the crazy and terrifying story of Mary Tudor, the first Queen of England and BLOODY MARY.

I'm English and absolutely OBSESSED with the Tudors (I have the Tudor Rose as a tattoo), we learn about the Tudors quite young and I've been really into their history since I was about 7, when you start learning about the Tudors, it's like opening a can of worms, there is SO much to learn. My favourite Queen is definitely Anne Boleyn, extremely fascinating life, very strong women even when you understand how she was coerced into marrying Henry by her Uncle and Father. Henry even had children with Anne's sister Mary...
Though not 100% accurate and it's essentially non fiction I'd recommend reading Phillippa Gregory's books if you like Non Fiction turned "Biography" writing. The Nursery Rhyme "Three Blind Mice" is also based on Mary I.
I'm really happy you focussed on Mary, you did great for an hour and 20 min video, not easy to talk about Tudor history in that amount of time since it's like a snowball, you read one thing but to understand that you need to read further back etc etc...
Mary didn't have an easy life from teen years onwards, but my god she goes crazy later in life. It's similar to Serial Killers, when you hear about their childhood you can kind of see how they became what they became, same with Mary I becoming essentially a Royal Serial Killer (though the executions were technically legal), even though her Father killed thousands more than she did
So little bit of extra “juice” here which may give an insight into Henry’s strange behaviours.
Henry was the youngest of the brothers as you well know and as he didn’t think he was ever going to get to the throne, he spent his earlier days doing less than safe past times - namely jousting.
Historians know that one day Henry lost a joust and got pretty badly injured when he fell off his horse.
They summise that he got some form of brain damage as a result and this is why he seemed to get the god complex he did when he did the “dissolution of the monestaries” and started marrying / murdering his wives.
Love your work by the way and it’s interesting coming from someone English, how interested other nations are with our messed up history.
Oh wow, I had no idea. That really is fascinating and could explain so much. Thank you so much for that 😲 I think it's pretty normal to be more interested in other places histories than your own lol. Had I been taught THIS sort of stuff in high school history, I probably would have aced it instead of almost failing from boredom 🤣 I'd probably enjoy it now, but as a teenager I found it incredibly boring lol.

Fact, her cousin Charles was a 21 year old man when he was engaged to her at six years old.🤢 I always found that so creepy. To add to that, her own aunt Mary, Henry’s sister, was Charles’ first betrothed..

I find elements of this time period super interesting, this story and family line in particular is one of my favourites although I will admit I didn't know much about the family after Anne dies. As a person who studied history and was interested in history from childhood, it’s very interesting to hear historical account like that “ouch that’s gross”. Funny 😆
PS sorry that you feel like that about Ann. She really wasn’t evil. She was a young girl manipulated by her family and politics. Henry was sleeping around, he even had an illegitimate son with Ann’s sister. Ann was portrayed as evil because it was politically correct at the time. Poor Ann, I love her.

Hahaha! Aww, thank you so much. So fascinating that you studied history, I would have loved to. I completely agree with you, and I really believe it wasn't all on Anne. Henry made his choice to be with her. I just really don't like how she separated an entire little family. I'm sure there's so much more to the story and so many more details that would probably even change my opinion on her. I feel for her too if she was manipulated by her own family. She was only doing what she really only knew then I guess :(
@@LeahWhispersASMR plus she was a mother of one of the greatest monarchs in history! But I think you should read her last speech before she was beheaded. It tells a lot about her character and integrity. Fun fact: Jane Gray’s husband - Dudley, the one who was executed, was a father of Robert Dudley, earl of Leicester, one of the lovers and probably the biggest love of Queen Elizabeth the First. He hosted her in his beautiful castle in Kenilworth - a small town in Midlands of England, where incidentally, yours truly is from (I wasn’t born there, but I lived there for the big chunk of my life). You should visit. It’s just gorgeous although in ruin now.

I love your true crime, but this is now my favorite. I don't believe that Anne, or any other woman, had a choice though. He made his way through several women and girls, including Anne's sister, Mary, who gave birth to his illegitimate son. And, whenever he became unsatisfied, he blamed them for adultery, since it was easier to cut their heads off than divorce them. Good job and would love to hear more.
We have a rhyme here in England to remember what happened to his wives in order

I have a HILARIOUS story about this slumber party "game." My husband has three sisters, and one of the few slumber parties that did happen at his parents' house included the brother of the house being a typical stinkpot brother LOL. So as all the girls crowded into the small bathroom of the house (small house, one bathroom) to turn off the light and do the creepy chant, my father-in-law sees my future hubby get an onery look on his face, slink to the drawer with a flashlight by the back door, grab it and quietly go outside. The bathroom had one little window that was high up on the wall, and hubby shines the flashlight into the dark bathroom from the dark yard LOL. The girls FREAK OUT and can't get out of the bathroom because it's small, the door opens inward, and it's every girl for themself LOL. Hubby gets back inside, puts the flashlight back, and is sitting where he had originally been sitting by the time the girls and his mom got everything settled down (his mom had run to the hallway where the bathroom was when the panicked screaming began-she had not seen hubby sneak out with the flashlight). My father-in-law never said a word about it at the time, and I'm not sure if the sister(s) know to this day what he had done or if his mother had ever been told either, for that matter, LMAO. Oh this story gets me every time. Love my funny hubby! The onery look he gets ANY time this story comes up cracks me up! Miss my father- and mother- in laws! May they RIP and we all see each other again one day.

They were from Winners in the chance you have one nearby. I got them around February but they might still have them!

Prince Alexei from the Romanov Dinasty in Russia inherited hemophilia from his mother Alexandra, an X chromosome hereditary condition that typically affects males, which she had acquired through the line of her maternal grandmother Queen Victoria in England.
You may consider telling the story of the fall of the Romanov's and how the entire family was murdered/executed.
