    Thanks for the video and the information. I particularly liked the comments on polishing. Time consuming and may take a few times to get all the scratchers out. That is so true and the first time I heard someone mention it. Great job.

      Another great vid Dave. Good to see you’re enjoying your Subie properly-they’re wasted if you just drive them on the street, IMO. I used to be very active with the club, doing lots of the motorkhana and supersprints around 2004-2008. I had some success and got a few trophies, but family and health issues got in the way. I’ve still got the car and your vid has me thinking about getting back out there and into it. Love ya work!

    Great overview, clear, concise and snappy 👍 One question, do you just leave the spray gun between coats or do some sort of clean? Does the paint in the nozzle start to dry and clog up the gun?

      a lot of people just use sundstrom organic filters sr218 which is what it looks like dave is using but you actually need the ABE1 filter it has been tested against isos and is good for 20 hours or 1 week worth of exposure (if you dont use 20 hours you throw away after 1 week)

    I’m going to attempt this very same hood project in the weeks ahead, but using Spraymax aerosol cans. I remain a bit confused on the approach I should take with the epoxy primer portion.
    Spraymax offers multiple products for this, but I’m unsure on which of them allow sanding and subsequent basecoats. Do you have to do a two-stage prime/build approach, or is there something I can use with confidence that allows minimal block sanding before paint?
    My goal is to benefit from the use of 2K products where possible, but without buying a dozen cans. I’m assuming 3 cans of basecoat and 3 for 2K clear for the hood alone.
    Thanks for a great video.

    • @customspraymods
      @customspraymods  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem if you have dents and are using filler. You need to get as much build from the primer as possible. If you have no dents. You can just use a minimal amount of primer. Like just 2 coats. All primer should be dry then sanded for best results. You can just paint over a primed surface after 20 minutes but this can cause the clear to look a bit less glossy.
      Hope this helps.
