1 worked as a spray painter for many years. Having recently retired I enjoy keeping up with things and really enjoy your longer video content. Please keep them coming Dave and best wishes with your spray-painting journey
I watch a lot of paint channels. Just found this one and is by far the easiest , for me, to follow and understand. Very good explanation on technique. Not knocking the others.
Great content - really glad to see you NOT using 2K with hardener option as most of us DIY don’t have the safety equipment or booths to spray it, plus it’s very risky regardless. Great camera presence too! Love it
Hardly risky if done correctly, he didnt spray it in a booth and only had a standard respirator. Notice you didnt comment on those issues, are you a 1k sales rep?
Hey mate, the shop microphone audio is only coming out of the left earpiece. Music is coming out of both. Not sure if it’s too late to fix this, but it’s quite annoying ahahaha
Hi Dave, I have been watching your informative videos for years and just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy watching them! Greetings from Europe - Netherlands. Frank😊👍
they have great 2k clear coats with a huge fan pattern. You should have used that to make a more fair comparison. Another tip with the can is use a plastic trigger that you can add on to the can to reduce stress on pressing on the can for so long.
12:55h are you spraying in the direction of this heat panel things? And I'm always worried I'll blow myself up when using an industrial fan to blow the paint fumes out of the garage because it's not intended for the use in explosive environments. 😅
I have an 89 Celica with a plastic rear bumper filled with styrofoam. Do you have a relevant video showing how to repair and spray the crazed surface and missing chunks ! cheers from NZ
Hey mate. Plastic is hard as paint stripper isn't recommended you would want to sand it back to under the damage and prime and paint again. Hope this helps.
The spray gun is super impressive in that it places less strain on the hands, is faster & straight off the gun was glossy without the time spent buffing/polishing. 👍🇦🇺👍
great video! Question, if budget is an issue, what's would you recommend? (a) Painting with a small compressor and a cheap gun (e.g. 6 gallon vevor & R500 LVLP spray gun), (b) Painting with a mid-range turbine system (e.g. HVLP spray systems- AVANTI 3 Stage HVLP Paint Sprayer or Fuji Spray 2203G Semi-PRO 2 - Gravity HVLP Spray System) (c) Painting with spray cans
A1 my question is what Dust Extraction for a DA would suit me at home DIY in a Garage as there are so many would like to purchase one that will last and do the job.
To be fair on the people who guessed which was the gun panel, you didn't tell them you had only cut and buffed the spray can panel (or did you of camera)
Dave my dude, your audio is split. Talking only in left channel headphone and music in both. Just thought I would let you know for next video ;) Great video by the way I had always wondered how much difference there was between the two methods. Although I suppose a lot comes down to how skilled and how well you can prep 😅
I never had the money for, or access to the equipment and materials to properly spray paint until recently. So most of my life I've done everything with a spray can. I've gotten good results because I've had a lot of practice. They make handles to snap on the cans to make it less tiresome and painful to do a lot of painting. But it's still nowhere near as easy as using a spray gun. You can get good or bad results with either. It just depends on how you prep things and how much practice you've had with your technique
I have done that a while ago. I wanted the price and the safety aspects of the 1k cans to be on display so it's more in reach of a DIY guy. 👍 Amount was Half a can of primer full can of colour half a can of clear Hope this helps.
Cost a lot more using spray cans of course you can get better Tips they are over 5 to 6 dollars each just not worth it.Question your Dust Extraction machine for DA Sanders as you have the big unit there which one could you say would be good for a DIY person please that will do the job and more.
I thought I was the only one to get tired an use their thumb on the pressure pack. You forgot to mention how long it takes to clean your spray gun .......

Came via Mighty Car Mods, to see if you're so sweaty all the time, was relieved and also immediately subbed!
Same and subbed. Wish I'd know back when lol

Showing the whole process is very helpful. Thank you.
It wouldve been nice to see you use a 2k clearcoat on the can side to even up the comparison, its a complete game changers for spray can jobs
Technique is everything. Thanks Dave.
I did my kombi with a little beaver came up a treat for a 80’s model spray kit.

Sorry mate.
Hi Dave, I have been watching your informative videos for years and just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy watching them! Greetings from Europe - Netherlands. Frank😊👍
Dave, I have been watching you for years from Canada.
Thank you for all your videos.
Cheers 🍁
I've been watching you for a couple of weeks now. You know Tommy right? He's about 4ft tall with a load of wirey sh** up top
Great video, thanks for explaining every process!
Good to see you back
Great video. I'm researching the best way to replace my truck's fender and am feeling like I can actually take on this project!

You are such a great painter, that's confusing everyone.
Thanks for the great tips
Cheers Dave, you're a legend 👍
VG my new favourite paint store.

Hey yeah I am but it's turned off. Also the booth is sucking behind me as to minimise dust on the job. So not much over spray goes on the heater. 👍👍
Dave, could you do a video on wet sanding for paint correcion please?
Love from the MCM fan base❤

@@customspraymods that's great thank you.
Great video, fair to say I’m a convert from cans to gun now. What’s a good entry level spray gun you’d recommend?
Came from MCM 😅
Nice content Dave
Glad to see another video!
I was just thinking watching it, you need to get involved with MCM and watching an MCM video, who appears….
The spray gun is super impressive in that it places less strain on the hands, is faster & straight off the gun was glossy without the time spent buffing/polishing. 👍🇦🇺👍
What a guy exactly was I looking for thank you
Hi Dave. Why do pro painters pulse the trigger at the end of each run? Why don't you reverse direction off panel and come back onto the panel?
Hey it possibly to save a bit of paint and minimise over spray. Reversing would be to get even coverage on edges. 👍
great video!

(a) Painting with a small compressor and a cheap gun (e.g. 6 gallon vevor & R500 LVLP spray gun),

(c) Painting with spray cans
I'd say A would be a great option. You can always find a dead compressor and link it up to use the tank for a longer spray cycle.
Hey dave could you do a comparison for 2k clear out the gun vs a 2k clear out the can please 🙏🏻
Hey mate try this video. th-cam.com/video/rn_J8CQDbGI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2GFaYz_cAxQ9YTWb
A1 my question is what Dust Extraction for a DA would suit me at home DIY in a Garage as there are so many would like to purchase one that will last and do the job.
So good man. Thank you.❤
To be fair on the people who guessed which was the gun panel, you didn't tell them you had only cut and buffed the spray can panel (or did you of camera)
Why didn’t you use a 2k clear in a can for a better comparison?
I have done that a while ago. I wanted the price and the safety aspects of the 1k cans to be on display so it's more in reach of a DIY guy. 👍
Good job Dave
Great informative video. I think Sagola sent those guns to everyone with a youtube channel lol.

Great video by the way I had always wondered how much difference there was between the two methods. Although I suppose a lot comes down to how skilled and how well you can prep 😅
Nice work Dave but i reckon if you had used a slightly darker colour, it would have been easier to see the difference
Great video!

Wet on wet primer??
BRILLIANT JOB DAVE HOWS MARIO THE PAINTER CRACKING BLOKE HIM GOOD JOB DAVE VERY WELL EXPLAINED THANKS FOR SHARING THAT INFORMATION 👍
Nice work
How many coats of clear with the can?
4 coats. 👍
@@customspraymods thanks, I'm going to attempt a front bumper respray based on this video 😁
2questions….why not use 2k clear in a can …….and how many cans did you end up using?👍🏻
I have done that a while ago. I wanted the price and the safety aspects of the 1k cans to be on display so it's more in reach of a DIY guy. 👍
Amount was Half a can of primer full can of colour half a can of clear Hope this helps.
@@customspraymods awesome thanks for the reply…
MCM sent me here
Bro your audio settings in the video are out…. LHS only. The voiceover is fine.
Like yur content. Subsribed

Hilux guard is the spray gun while the Hilux guard is the spray cans. 😂
I thought I was the only one to get tired an use their thumb on the pressure pack. You forgot to mention how long it takes to clean your spray gun .......
Any concerns of overspray or cross contamination painting them right next to each other like that?
Edit: I guess that was for the primer only ….
Yeah primer is sanded an anyway. Clear would be a problem
🔊👊🏻
I feel, spray gun is harder to begin, easier to master. Spray can is easier to begin, harder to master. Obviously both are still bloody hard to begin!
I can spray better and more consistently with a can than a gun, but use your finger not you thumb on the button please
Just sprayed a oil pan with rattle can. Spray gun all the way. Dudes getting Ripped
