- The second war smashed onto our screens bigger and better than before! The introduction of the new house robot Sir Killalot brought shock and awe to the wars. New presenter Craig Charles presents, Johnathon Pearce commentates and Philippa Forrester interviews the teams. The six combatants are Roadblock, Onslaught, Killerhurtz, Nemesis, ROCS and Limpet..
LET THE SECOND WARS BEGIN!
BBC 1998 All Rights Reserved.
Funny to think that the reigning champions were nearly eliminated without even having a fight. As much as I like the variety of the gauntlet and trials, removing them from the main competition was definitely a good idea. Imagine what could have happened in later years:
Hypno-Disc, the most destructive robot in Robot Wars! (Gets blindsided by the Sentinel and shoved into the pit).
Dominator 2, the toughest axe in the competition! (Gets stuck on the ramp).
Pussycat with its deadly blade! (Bombs in the Sumo).
I've never watched series 1 and 2 in my childhood, but after seeing Roadblock at work i'd say it's one of my favorite battle robots now. That design, the siren and the ability to flip opponents without even having a flipper or insane speed are pretty cool.
"In the words of the supreme being, 'Big badda boom!'"
Dude... 5th Element quote for the win! lmao
Oh the irony... Onslaught defeated Nemesis after it was immobilised almost randomly - and loses to Roadblock because it was immoblised seemingly randomly
+CaruCath97 I remember why i liked RW but at the same time why I kinda hated it, Just been re-watching from 1st series...It was for the exact reason you stated.
EVERYONE IS FRICKIN IMMOBILISED!!! Get so little action out of that
Killerhurtz is already in the pit at 3:46
+NJGW Mentorn's fancy editing. Hopefully it doesn't have that in the new series.
I like liked Killer Hurtz and Onslaught, both design and power. They had potential!
Even in Series 2, Killerhurts has that amazing speed. o-o
What a formidible robot it really is!
How many of you wanted to see a Road Block & Nemesis rematch?
To think that John Denny from the Limpet team would go on to create 13 Black, what an awesome machine that was.
I love Road Block's sirens, I would of loved other robots to have that in later series, I guess it was easier to fit them in earlier series when the weight limit was less strict.
Champion Roadblock won the heat.
Onslaught caught Nemesis Fever, and set on fire!
Unlucky Limpet, How worrying it must've been for champions Roadblock suffering a shock early exit! Killerhurtz did fantastic in the trial but got too excited in the arena, I remember being upset Nemesis lost against Onslaught who'd be inactive in the heat final. If only they had to withdraw and Nemesis would be back possibly getting revenge on Roadblock but there was no stopping the Cornish heroes!
It's amazing just how easily these robots are knocking down the barrels. The bots on Series 1 were honestly a bit pants, weren't they?
Harry Rickard these ones are heavy weights
The irony when the last placed finisher in the Skittles still scores higher than the winner in the other Skittles heat in the series :P (Heat 1, 20 barrels)
last series of robot wars, robots were lucky to get like 15 barrels, now look at this series... 30+ barrels went down lol
one thing i miss about Robotwars is Nemesis/Diortior's fur, humor and Flammability
Anybody notice that they changed the design of the PPZ for this heat.
@jhibbitt1 Yep. The Roadblock team got to go up against the Onslaught team properly. The Roadblock team had their new robot Beast of Bodmin and they toppled Onslaught over.
You have to say that the reigning champions did it the hard way.
i thought roadblock did amazing until i realized that the barrels were about a quarter of the former weight
Well, they smashed the front armour on the flipper as well.
'i dont think theyre moving' well they are surrounded by all four house robots, which way would they move?
@kanenkitten wrong robot.
That honor Belongs to Dantomkia, who fliped Chaos two out of the arena in heat c final of series 6
i think road block and onslaught fight again properly in series 3, at least i think beast of bodmin was the reincarnation of road block
Man, I thought Roadblock were a no-brainer to go through the Trial when they went first, considering their score was almost double the top score of the event winner the last time they did Skittles, but I underestimated how well the other robots were going to do. Clearly they'd replaced the barrels with lighter ones after last time's debacle where the losing contestant was too weak to even topple a single one. They still got it, though, but it was a surprisingly close thing.
Killerhurtz- as always, fast, powerful, devastating weapon, but unreliable.
Onslaught were a good machine, but really would have had no chance against Roadblock just based on their design, even if they hadn't burned themselves out before they started.
The red robot called Nemesis is usually caught fire easily....
Who thought adding fur would be a good idea?!?
yea XD haha let alone flammable fur XD
Exactly XD
Not entirely true - Psycho wrecked the chassis with the Hammer. 13 black didn't help, mind, but from what I found out, all they did was jam a wheel...
nooo! nemesis :'(
if Limpet had had more power, Roadblock would've gone out
0.o
Yeah it looks like they made them lighter.
@kanenkitten
Ugh, that. I still despise 13 Black for it.
