  • This was a quickie job, so sadly I didnt have any time to mic it up and get a good before and after comparison. I do have another video on making an even more shallow bass, so you can check that one out too!

First to count the amount of drums in the background *throughout the video* gets a free sticker. good. luck.

I just finished making a whole pancake kit out of drums my neighbor was going to throw away... as long as you cut/leave a good bearing edge, put good heads on them, and tune them well, you can make thin drums sound great! I might post a video of the result. We were probably working on our projects at the same time!

I'm picking up what you're putting down! I would honestly love to do something similar to one of those old 30 inch Slingerland marching bass drums. From what I understand, it is the diameter that determines the pitch and the depth that determines the length of the sustain/resonance, so a very large diameter and small depth would make for a nice modern kick sound, with a low subsonic impulse and a fast cut-off. That said, i'm a brand-new drummer (started trying to learn in mid-January) and I only play kick and snare with a hi-hat, ride, and a 16-inch crash. The toms sit in a closet unless and until an actual band with an actual drummer come to record, or sometimes, a drummer friend comes over to track some drums for one of my songs. You're an actual drummer though..... I gotta wonder if that thing is going to tip over on you if you try to put 2 rack toms in the mounts. Good luck.
