I've been following Sage since he started Anime Abandon and I get so excited for every new episode, and it's just such a nice nostalgic feeling to come back and watch these early ones 💚
As a fan of Cardcaptor Sakura I never thought that it was trying to be too cute. Cute designs maybe but the characterizations always seemed natural if maybe idealistic. Fluffy seems like a better descriptor. The series always balanced slice of life mood, magical actions scenes , zany humor, supernatural lore exploration and cute appeal very well. But I saw the mostly uncut Spanish-language dub so maybe there lies the difference.
Fun fact: Cardcaptor Sakura was created in protest of Sailor Moon. CLAMP was pissed that the Sailor scouts weren't fashionable enough and created Sakura and specifically Tomoyo so they could parade a little girl in different costumes in every chapter. I'm not making this up.
Bennett the Sage - in Japan age of conscent was 13 but its like 16 Today. also, Japan has these thing called Love Hotels. there you can get a room for a few hours or Stay till Morning. the Hotels have various Themed decorated rooms and its very Discrete as you don't see the Hotel clerk. anyone can check in a Love Hotel no age restrictions and you pay with cash or credit card.

I think the part I love about these old episodes most is its before Suave came into existance, so Sage has to do all Sauve in his primary persona, which is adorably wierd and akward.

i can get into some of the magical girl shows. I grew up with sailor moon on toonami and actually liked all the drama and stuff. Plus it was visually pleasing.
Card Captors was great as a child l I even had the book with the card collection xD ended up losing all the cards and turned the book into something to keep my weed in till I traded to somebody lol
Loved the first one , hated the others. They got rid of everything that made the first one so good. The family and friends and free love vibe set this abart from the others that made me feel like I had to be 12 to enjoy. All they needed to do was to put her in collage and it would have been great.
