I thought it was clear why Jubei didn't have sex with Kagero in order to save his life. She didn't want to have sex with him. She was doing it because she felt she had to. Jubei was being a gentleman (not an amoral arsehole).

There is many ways while he could asway the moral implications of making kagero go all ahegao, but it all seriousness...the real reason is that jubei is the archetype of the lone wanderer with a broken soul, so he doesnt want get attached AKA he is bailing out of helping kagero forming a real connection because he is afraid to commit because of his 'mysterious, totured past' , he does not give a shit about kagero until she dies.
This was the first grown-up anime I ever watched. I was 12 and I was blown away. It really is as awesome as it sounds. Since then, I've really come to love Yoshiaki Kawajiri.
Ninja Scroll will always be one of my very favorite anime ever. All of my friends and I were really blown away when we saw this anime and we showed it to anybody and everybody we could.
Okay, for once I see something I agree with. Not that I expect anybody to care. But yes, I agree; Ninja Scroll is a timeless classic. It's one of those films that has withstood the test of time, and it's a nostalgic guilty pleasure of mine. Packed with a solid story, a cast of likable characters, and hardcore action scenes, this movie is guaranteed to bring audiences back again and again. And I think the animation still looks awesome today.
Nah that's nothing. My earliest memories of anime were Laputa and Akira, and being about the same age as you were made understanding Akira quite difficult considering it was subbed :)

If you notice though, Jubei intervenes once Tessai threatens to kill Kagero and even says “I wouldn’t mind raping a dead girl.” For all Jubei knows, Tessai and Kagero are a legit couple ,who happened to use the same building he’s sleeping in, to get it on. Once he knows what the situation is, he immediately intervenes.
I seem to remember that's actually how Jubei was able to cut through his rocky skin. For some reason the poison simply weakened him instead of outright killing him. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, or that was just my headcanon.

I think there's an interesting irony to the fact that the bad guys could have easily beaten Jubei had they of worked together. Three of them were beaten because Jubei and Kagero worked together to beat them, despite Jubei not even realising that she helped him beat The stone guy. I agree with pretty much everything. It's not a deep film but it is immensely entertaining due to its completely fat free nature and rollicking pace.
One day, there will be a fictional character who is a effeminate, prissy romantic stereotype, but is actually *STRAIGHT.* If it can't exist in real life, then fiction is the perfect place for it.
Can I just say that that pussy-dwelling snake was wonderfully animated? For a second, I thought it wasn't animated and they used a stock footage snake, it was that realistically drawn and colored.
If I had to say anything good of this movie, when he and the ninja chick actually do get along at the very last minute it's sweet, even though she's killed right after. The other good thing being that climax gold battle, that was badass
I've known this movie for over two decades an noticed only now that Gemma is not only encased in gold with an arm cut off, which would be bad enough, but also encased in the gold is a huge chunk of wood that is pierced through his gut. So not only is he suffocating forever, he'll feel that wood until it rots away and... I don't even want to think any further than that. Essentially he will be in for a lot of pain until someone finds him, which may take a few centuries. If someone finds the irregularities (the statue is too light to be solid gold) They may get him out of it if they see something like the Ötzi in him.
I remember I saw this when I was 6 (Highly appropriate for that age) and I will never forgot how my mind fucked I was when I saw it. It's been so long since I seen this and now I finally remembered the name.
