This was kind of a special episode. It coincided with some anniversary in the fall of 1999. This was aired as part of a two hour special. The first hour featured a tour of Paramount studios and Star Trek history - hosted by Jason Alexander. There was also a tribute to DeForest Kelley, who had died about 9-10 months earlier. I am sure that is why they did the TNG crossover in this episode.
"I've been here two years, just haven't had a chance to unpack." That is so like me, living in my sister's house for almost that long and still having quite a few boxes.
It’s great to see Reg and Deanna again. It would have been cool if they brought Geordi (Levar Burton) back for this episode too, chatting to Reg from the Enterprise about the technical side of communicating with the Voyager crew.
I found it interesting that Captain H. M. "Howling Mad" Murdock managed to leave the A Team and made it into the future. His personality did change a little, but not entirely.
@moviesRockCool This episode takes in the year 2376- after events in the Dominion War and Star Trek Insurrection. It takes place 4 years prior to Star Trek: Nemesis which takes place in June of 2379- a year and a half after Voyager's return from the Delta Quadrant.
@moviesRockCool The three Voyager episodes that Troi was in aired in 1999 and 2000, so are set inbetween Insurrection and Nemesis. She says she's meeting Riker for their vacation in INnside Man.
Hoo boy. And here we see Marina having completely abandoned the accent she used for Troi in TNG. Out the window. Because that was ten years ago, right, and no one will possibly remember, right? SMH.
I have to say, Brian, apparently there's footage of Patrick affecting a French accent. They at least TRIED to bury it, because he sounded too much like Inspector Clouseau. So they decided that he learned very good English in London and left it at that, though he does swear in French with a passable accent at least once.
Hmm... is it me, or does her voice on this and subsequent Voyager episodes actually sound deeper/less soft than on any of the previous The Next Generation episodes she starred in?
her voice is definitely deeper and rougher. Voices age too, especially when not taken care of. Alcohol/smoking is especially bad, though I don't think she smokes.
There's something in that bowl that cat wants bad! When Reg pulls the cat away, it can't stop looking at the bowl and is trying to get at it. There's something else in there besides ice cream since cats cannot taste sugar.
Why does he act like he just killed someone and have the body lying on his kitchen floor? I mean seriously, can't the writers give this guy some range to work with?
Troi: "Reg, can I come in?" Reg: "Enter!" Deanna walks in. Reg (from upstairs): "I'll be right down. Make yourself at home Deanna!" Troi: "Thank you. Love your place! Oh Commander Data mentioned something about Spot liking the food you sent him." Troi suddenly noticed a holo projected slave girl walk into the kitchen. She looked identical to herself. "I am the Goddess of Wonder. May I offer you a chocolate ice cream whilst you wait for my Master?"
Marina Sirtis is from England. She had a more distinct voice for Troi in the early days of TNG, but it kind of faded away over the years of playing the role. In the films and in Voyager, Troi sounds more similar to Sirtis' real speaking voice.
Troi: Maybe we should introduce him to Data's cat Spot. From my experience if a cat sees another cat in the room, they get into a fight. So probably not a good idea.
How does someone like Barclay have his home in order and decorated decently like that? Do they have free home decoration and housekeeping in the future?
As a nerdy guy with social anxiety, if I was one of the show's writers I'd have had Troi and Broccoli get together so to speak hahaha. A victory for nerds everywhere.
@moviesRockCool actually this story in terms of the timeline actually takes place between insurrection and Nemesis because janeway don' forget has got Voyager home by the time the Nemesis incident took place
Wasn't it supposed to be implied she was another or his holograms in this episode? For example just here: 1. Ice Cream: First, she asks for the ice cream but only places it down without even trying it. Second Troi would never ask for just one scoop. 2. "Flatter Me": Barclay never knew how to flatter her, duh. 3. Apartment: If they were close wouldn't she know if/when he moved places? 4. Jordy Reference: Would Jordy really be disappointed?
This is basically Frasier in 24th century San Francisco. Imagine if they made a spin off comedy in the star trek universe about a group of friends living in 24th century California
I'unno. His "weakness" can be part of his charm if viewed from an angle of him representing certain people in our society who often do not get respect for their, understandably-annoying at times, quirks.
It was scenes like this that killed of the old Star Trek. This isn't Trek. It's not science fiction. It's Frasier. Or Friends. Trek is not a sitcom or a soap opera. While I do like Marina as a person, she was/is a poor actress. She's possibly the only actress in the franchise who was incapable of actually acting - she's just Marina in a Star Trek uniform.

It looks to me as if Paramount have used their Fraiser set designer/s here.
"I've been here two years, just haven't had a chance to unpack." That is so like me, living in my sister's house for almost that long and still having quite a few boxes.
2 1/2 years and still unpacking, life happens sometimes 😏
A decade and I haven't bothered unpacking shit in the attic lol.
Honestly I like her hair more in the films/Voyager than in TNG.
It’s great to see Reg and Deanna again. It would have been cool if they brought Geordi (Levar Burton) back for this episode too, chatting to Reg from the Enterprise about the technical side of communicating with the Voyager crew.
I'm just glad they stopped making her wear those stupid dresses and finally gave her a uniform.
Thank Captain Jelico for that.
@@YD-uq5fi The one good thing Jellico did was to order her to wear her uniform and not those fugly dresses she wore.
@@nicholasmaude6906 LOL not "fugly"
I rather liked the dresses...
The dresses were the ONLY THING great about that character, LMFAO!
I had watched VOY before I had watched TNG and had no idea what this scene was all about.
I found it interesting that Captain H. M. "Howling Mad" Murdock managed to leave the A Team and made it into the future. His personality did change a little, but not entirely.
i tell ya they should made a entire show just based on Berkeley , Troi and Zimmerman with Mk1 and Mk3
Reg: embarassed at the fact that he's a drooling idiot in front of Deanna
Every male in existence: we got your back buddy

My absolute all time favorite Character on any Star Trek Show.
Q is second.
Wait, do you mean Q, Q, or perhaps Q?
@@patrickschulz2193 q, q, q or q don't you mean
she still looks great
@moviesRockCool The three Voyager episodes that Troi was in aired in 1999 and 2000, so are set inbetween Insurrection and Nemesis. She says she's meeting Riker for their vacation in INnside Man.
Actually looks like a 21st century apartment!
I just love the reference to Geordi and Data.
Troi is so gorgeous here in Voyager and other later stuff, better than she looked in TNG honestly ❤
This entire episode was surprisingly great
I loved this episode.
Thanks for posting! We would love to see more!
Neelix the cat!
Poor Reg. Guy is still so in love with Deanna, clearly
Plot twist, She's programmed naked in _Programme 9_ 😜😛
we all are
Neelix is sure a beautiful cat.
Hoo boy.

+nfinn42 Get a life, maybe?

How have I never seen this?
Could you post all of her scenes from the Voyager episodes? I thought she did a great job in them.
marina was hotter than in tng
Like a fine wine...
Hmm... is it me, or does her voice on this and subsequent Voyager episodes actually sound deeper/less soft than on any of the previous The Next Generation episodes she starred in?
She's using her very poor version of her overly-harsh, heavily-faked, 'transatlantic' accent. It grates!
her voice is definitely deeper and rougher. Voices age too, especially when not taken care of. Alcohol/smoking is especially bad, though I don't think she smokes.
It really bothers me that her accent got lazier
Faewaterspirit Yeah, she smokes. She says so in several interviews I’ve seen/read. Apparently, Frakes does too...or did.
Milkman69ner her accent didn't get lazier, it just got more americanized. it wasn't perfect but that's what she did
There's something in that bowl that cat wants bad! When Reg pulls the cat away, it can't stop looking at the bowl and is trying to get at it. There's something else in there besides ice cream since cats cannot taste sugar.
Marchant2 That "ice cream" looked like a scoop of wet cat food.
Maybe they can't taste sugar, but they can sure taste cream. My cats would always try to get at a bowl of ice cream that I leave out.
rohypnol
Dairy in ice cream? One of my cats liked butter, cream and ice cream
"I've become obsessed with Voyager....(3:10)....OH! And it starting right now!"
"Would it be alright if I came inside?" My thoughts, exactly. 😎
Underrated comment.
Why does he act like he just killed someone and have the body lying on his kitchen floor? I mean seriously, can't the writers give this guy some range to work with?
Troi: Would it be alright if I come inside?
Reg: Would it be alright if I do?
Troi: "Reg, can I come in?"
Reg: "Enter!"
Deanna walks in.
Reg (from upstairs): "I'll be right down. Make yourself at home Deanna!"
Troi: "Thank you. Love your place! Oh Commander Data mentioned something about Spot liking the food you sent him."
Troi suddenly noticed a holo projected slave girl walk into the kitchen. She looked identical to herself.
"I am the Goddess of Wonder. May I offer you a chocolate ice cream whilst you wait for my Master?"
Her natural hair is so much better than her (TNG) TV show wigs; wonder what they were thinking.
0:26, that's what he said.
...said Reg ten second after he saw Seven of Nine ;-)
Is it just me or is this Deana troy different from the one on TNG I can't remember her having a sort of bodged english accent
Marina Sirtis is from England. She had a more distinct voice for Troi in the early days of TNG, but it kind of faded away over the years of playing the role. In the films and in Voyager, Troi sounds more similar to Sirtis' real speaking voice.
I would say this was her best work as her character. Some of the early episodes on TNG she was over acting.
Troi: Maybe we should introduce him to Data's cat Spot.
From my experience if a cat sees another cat in the room, they get into a fight. So probably not a good idea.
Spot was a girl and Neelix was a boy... Ginger fluffies!
This future for earth would be paradise for me
Unless Spot lived about 30 years, Spot would have been dead by then.
Her accent is very shaky here. Her natural (English/American) accent comes out too much. I love Deanna's original accent - different and exotic :P
She has a horrid accent in real life and in every show she's in.
Do you think the cat was part of the scene or was that just some really good improv?
GREAT question. Would be really cool to know the amswer
Animals and children are notoriously hard to act with. This cat looked extremely annoyed when Reg held him.
Sorry that'll take forever. Will be adding more soon though.
I hate whinny people stop watching the reruns and clips if it bothers you that much
Which episode and season was this scene from?
@moviesRockCool Nemesis takes place after voyager. Hence Admiral Janeway being in the movie.
I should've expected him to get it from a replicator, but for some reason I thought he'd scoop it from a carton.
Hey Its Brocholli! :)
I liked Dwight Schultz in "A Team" as Murdock a lot better.
I look forward to your report, Mr. Broccoli..... O_O! Barclay.
How does someone like Barclay have his home in order and decorated decently like that? Do they have free home decoration and housekeeping in the future?
"Would it be alright if I came inside?" 😂😂😂😂😂
“Reg I’m sensing some nervousness”
As a nerdy guy with social anxiety, if I was one of the show's writers I'd have had Troi and Broccoli get together so to speak hahaha. A victory for nerds everywhere.
@moviesRockCool actually this story in terms of the timeline actually takes place between insurrection and Nemesis because janeway don' forget has got Voyager home by the time the Nemesis incident took place
This dialog..
She is a BABE!
I don't know why but... she got that Mia Khaleafy vibe :D

great freindship pairing, should barkley have made it to captain someday? would have gone along way from being called mr. broculli
The amount of fan-pandering reached unbelievable levels whenever Troi and Barclay cameoed on Voyager. Enough with the chocolate ice cream already...

I think TNG was the best series BEHIND Voyager :)
DS9 > Voyager > TNG > Enterprise > TOS > JJ (which I refuse to consider canon Trek though).
@@NuntiusLegis voyager better than TNG, what the frack!?
For me, TNG is the best.
I thought Reg was the weekest character in TNG and Voyager and hope he doesn't get a role in the new Picard series , Deeana however ......

Meh.
The many Star Trek-based series have turned a good sci-fi show into a soap opera, without the soap.
It was scenes like this that killed of the old Star Trek. This isn't Trek. It's not science fiction. It's Frasier. Or Friends. Trek is not a sitcom or a soap opera.

That dude is really overacting.
His character has a crush on troi so that's probably why.
