I’m thinking about purchasing my first drone and I have to admit, that was very impressive! I love how this was an actual test, and not just regurgitating the factory specs.
Considering the strong wind and tiny size of this model it coped remarkably well. The final footage was also very smooth considering the conditions. Lets face it, a sensible user wouldn't normally fly in these conditions so this was a great test.
Sir, your video convinced me to get the mavic mini 2! Thanks! I live in Canada and we get some awful winter weather here. I was a tad worried about what it can take but this is plenty of legroom for me. Tomorrow will be my first test. Cheers!

As a Mini 2 owner I appreciate the effort and risk put into making this video and it is useful however the biggest and most important lesson is that one more step backwards while distracted by the drone could have led to death or serious injury by skull cracking on rocks. So far I have been lucky with two narrow escapes, once with steps behind me and once with a low wall. Incredibly important to be aware of your 360 degree space if you must walk around while flying.

What an amazing drone....you pushed to its limit. Landing a helicopter with a strong tail wind can keep you very focused .....much prefer landing in to wind...the weather cock thing. Great vid...keep it up
Great test, I am a new pilot with a mini 2 and I lack the trust it needs in the equipment, it still amazes me how incredible this tech is in such a small package. I'm glad it comes up with strong wind warning as I haven't seen that yet.
This was interesting thanks. My forecast app has wind and gusts and I'm not sure what matters most. I've had that unable to RTH wind warning too but it was much less windy than what you tested here.
Thank you for this video, I am downgrading from the Air 2 to the Mini 2 and wind was one of my concerns but this video gave me confidence on the Mini 2. I damaged my air 2 and it was cheaper to get the mini 2 than repair it
It has been a toss up between the Mavic Air 2 and the Mavic Mini 2 even before it was released to the public but one of the things holding me back on the Mini 2 was the wind problem but because of your video I know I have nothing to worry about there so it looks like the Mini 2 is going to win. I am perfectly happy with the 4k 30fps and have never cared much for obstacle avoidance. Awesome Possum, I'm gonna get a Mini 2!
very helpful test, I am thinking of replacing my mavic air with this mavic mini2 , and my main concern was kitesurfing videos (wind + water), This gives me a great picture of what I could expect from this device. Thanks
I already have a Mavic Air 1 and a Mini 2 on order that I get this week. I already sold my Mini 1. I saw just saw your comment and I am thinking the same, but however the Mini 2 is stronger in wind compared to the Mini 1, I doubt it will be as powerfull as the Mavic Air 1 is in wind? So for now I think that I will keep my Air for flying in stronger winds the Mini 2 can handle. If in real tests the Mini 2 proofs it can handle very strong winds as good as my Air then maybe I sell my Air later. From the video here it is the edge and I definitelly will not try it in such extreme conditions. I like the size of mini2 and protocol which I consider better from video transmission stability and quality,. I had several video transmit problems with my old mavic air due to interference issues. I do not like mastodont controller for mavic mini2.
Impressed by not only how well the drone flew, but that much of what you shot still looked like usable footage, which also shows how impressive the gimbal is. Oh, great piloting too!
I'm getting this to film adventures on my sailboat down in the Caribbean. My only worry was wind. It sort of goes with sailing. Thanks so much for doing the real tests! I got my notice from Best Buy that it's ready for pickup while I was watching the video, and I leave on my trip tomorrow. Just in time!
Wow. Both you and the drone did so well in those conditions. It just shows what you can do even when the wind warnings show. Useful tips on mode selection as well.
This is a great video. I have a mavic mini 1 and i'm positive it would not have handled that wind nearly as good. I have had so many close calls with wind and losing connection with my mini, but I still think it is a great drone. If you want combine the better stability with Occusinc 2.0, the mini 2 is all you need if you are a novist. This video is impressive and has convinced me to upgrade.
I may actually pickup a Mini 2.. I use my inspire for all the paid work and I have a Air 2 that I use for the higher bit rate 4K at times. I said previously that an Air 2, my Sony Rx100 V, and a iPad Pro were the perfect travel setup but a Mini 2 may work its way into that equation. Cheers man! I always enjoy the wind test videos. I wish I had a cool lighthouse in my area 😀
Nice review, I got mine recently and just got my first strong wind warning and brought it back and the wind was just about 12km/h so good knowing it can handle that and much more 👍

I have been dragging my heels on a starter drone, and believing (and worrying / terrified) that this drone was no good in wind, so I have been thinking about a cheapy Chinese drone (SJRC F11 4K / Holy Stone 720E) and THEN a DJI Mavic Air 2 as my final drone. This video has really created a re-think. I'm a retiring Engineer, and born again motorcyclist wanting to shoot decent footage for personal and family consumption. Now I am genuinely thinking that on a bike with the size "Packability" - THIS could be my first AND final drone in the same package. Would love your, and your viewers thoughts. Thank you mate / guys. This is a year later but curious about your decision. I bought my Mini 2 for similar reasons, hiker, biker, motorcycler, and portability was a must. I also wanted a good stable drone that wasn't breaking the bank for a first try. My own early experience impressed me in high winds although it also frazzled my nerves!! I am no where near ready to fly under conditions as seen in this video, but it does boost confidence in the Mini 2. - Cheers

I am wondering between MA2 and Mini 2. MA2 still has its advantages - shooting video in row and HDR video mode as well.

That's really great footage considering the wind. It mostly moves smoothly in that bluster. I would not expect that from a drone that light.
