- Can the DJI Air 3 handle the strong wind storm? I put it to the test to find out. Buy the DJI Air 3 here (amzn.to/46rdLh0), link helps support the channel and is much appreciated!
See how it handles the winds in a variety of tests, including sport mode, normal mode, telephoto/zoom lens, slow-mo, take-off, landing, and more!
In this test I put the DJI Air 3 to the limits in a 60KPH wind storm, to see how it handles. Not just the winds, but also light rain, and even a bit of unexpected sand upon landing. Plus, at the end I've got tons of footage in 4K/60, 4K/100, and 1080p/200FPS, as well as lots of shots in slow-mo and more.

What makes DC Rainmaker great is that he's honest. His honesty and accurate depiction of these expensive products are what set him apart from other reviewers. Looking forward to the obstacle avoidance test!
Thanks, much appreciated!
That’s crazy weather for the drone. Yet it’s rock steady. Very impressive👍😄
that's what I call a proper test... much respect... you are the best drone tester and most honest one by miles
Thanks - much appreciated!
This guy is the best high wind tester! Hands down!!!!
That was a great high wind test review! But that footage at the very end just fantastic and so epic! The quality was incredible too
Awesome video. Very instructive and super cool footage at the end. Thanks!!!
You're the only youtuber whose reviews i actually watch fully. You do great obstacle avoidance and wind tests. If the drone can survive your tests, it'll do fine where I live.
Great Video! The best best air 3 Wind test Video on TH-cam.
I hope the active track test Video comes soon 😁
impressive performance by the NEW DJI Air3! Great job on the sticks as well!!
You did an awesome job flying the little bird in probably one of the windiest conditions of all your tests. It was informative and certainly entertaining. It's still not as good as diving for drones though.
So it passes DC Rainmaker's wind test in flying colors. Can't wait for the tree avoidance test.
🤣 Coming up! Just gotta finish editing it!
You are world's reference in terms of drone wind tests. ! Great job ! 😊
Again one crazy great test!!!
👍👍✌️ That was crazy Excellent slow mo footage
Very beautiful review!
great job, verry cool videos an of course a amazing drone
Hey DC rainmaker! Thank you for the nice video! Greetings from Vancouver British Columbia Canada! Ride ride ride!
As always a very enjoyable entertaining video to watch, Dispute all the geo fencing ect you get with DJ1 you have to give it to them for the super stabilisation, quality of the video given the grey conditions and high wind capabilities, love the slow mo on the last clips of the waves and bigger speed boat and wow how many kite surfers out, drones have come along way in daily short timescale 😎😎😎😎
Great video as usual.
Thorough testing as usual.
Can’t wait for the Avenue of broken dreams tracking video.
Thanks for this. I finally got an Air 3 and I’m really glad to see what I might be able to do with my drone but I don’t have to risk my drone to see.
Awesome love this channel strictly for the drone tests!
Great video... That drone is a beast, man!...
Ray i have to say that was probably one of the best wind test to date i have seen. You had to deal with the elements there ... drone work like a charm. how was the controller after your testing? do you know if the Air 3 work with the RC Pro. or is that hardware with the new chip. Again great video there as always. you always pack so much information into your video.
Air 3 is a beast 💪 👌 nice shots 👍
Had my original mavic 3 in 60mph gusts filming a fireworks display and still rock steady footage.
Did same test with the mavic 3 pro and 60km is no problem
@kevinDG7 km and mph are different but the mini 3 is also very capable in high winds i have on of those too
@NickHarbornePhotography I know there is a difference. Yess the mini 3 pro also handles wind great
Thank you
Great video, great drone. What would you recommend as first drone that is light thats is cheaper and use smart phone as controller. Thank you
The best brother🤩👍
Haha, some extreme testing and a lot of effort from your side!
Fantastic 🤝😎
I see you enjoy the Dutch weather :)
Your videos are always appreciated but wow you live in some crazy harsh environments!!!!😂
Nice 👍
Wish you had the gage up in the bottom corner that shows how the drone is leveled. Would have been cool to see it at a full slant still maintaining stability.
That's awesome. Back in the early days, flying in wind like that was almost a guaranteed lost drone.
hey nice place to fly, went there during the early summer
Excellent and brave test! Well done! How would you compare the wind resistance against the mavic 3 pro? Also what does the ongoing error message mean about air map data load error? It pops up all the time on your controller display?
I’d say they are equal, no issues. The error message is a bug present for EU users on the RC2. I believe it was finally fixed yesterday. The data was there/good, just an erroneous error message. It appeared every 10 seconds :/
its to risky sir but you do it how it is fascinating great video dji air 3 is the best❤ with come videography and photography❤❤ i like it good job sir
Fabulous where those ships taken on 70 zoom thanks from UK.
Still gathering intel on this drone. Currently have an M2P and Air 2S. And a Skydio 2, which I may sell to fund the Air 3.
This is great info though since we vacation on the outer banks and I fight high winds all the time.
Keep up the good work and don't fly in any hurricanes. 😂😂
Thanks for the all the good info! I have two questions: can you charge the battery directly while plugged into the drone? And can you download footage directly from the drone to your phone, without the RC? Hope you can give me some answers, thanks in advance!
I've seen another video where he shows charging the battery directly from the drone (Air 2S can't). Not sure about your other questions.
Yes you can! And yes you can use QuickTranfser from the Aircraft to your Smartphone without RC!😎
Thanks!@@gblock777
The DJI Air 3 is more than just a drone - it's a tool that empowers your creativity. Whether you're an aspiring filmmaker, a photography enthusiast, or simply someone who loves to explore the world from above, the Air 3 offers you the freedom to create stunning content that stands out.
Hey, nice work but how did you get it to go up to 21 m/s or 75km/h here in the Netherlands? Mine is software limited too 18,5 m/s about 65km/h
make a wind test for fimi x8 se, that's also a beast
Sir: can you tell me about your wind speed instrument? I really appreciate your help.
I noticed that the RC strength dropped into the orange colour, i wonder if the weather affected this new OcuSync 4.0? i get better range with my Mini 2 on OcuSync 2.0, granted that is in very good conditions though.
Nah, it was merely because it shifted behind the giant container I was standing next to for cover, thus why I had to move a moment later.
@@Dcrainmakerah well that explains it lol
Would you go for the Mavic 3 or the Air 3? I have a 2s and am filming kitesurfing so I need a zoom to get close without getting caught in the kite lines. I also film in 25-35mph winds pretty exclusively.
Love your reviews!
Wind-wise, there's no difference between the two aircraft in real-life, so, either one is good there. Then, you're down to the zoom lenses. I presume you're referring to either Mavic 3 or Mavic 3 Pro (not Classic). In that case, the main difference is the added 7x camera, which, is certainly fun to use (really, I love it), but you'd be surprised with just how easily you can capture stuff on the 3x lens that's on both units. And, for windsurfing, I'd assume you'd want to capture both human+kite, so, having the 7X is going to basically crop you into just the human, versus the 3X you can get both. At that point, I've seen zero real-world difference between Mavic 3 Pro and Air 3 in all my footage.
Glad to see air 3 holds strong winds. Hope you can also do skydio vs air 3 obstacle avoidance comparison. I hope dji beats skydio this time.
There's no way DJI beats Skydio in obstacle avoidance.
The Skydio 2 literally has an Nvidia Jetson TX2 on it, the air 3 will obviously lose
Perhaps a silly question. Is the 19m/s EU speed limiting done by the software and the motors are not lower in power so that an EU drone would have the same wind capabilities as the rest of the world, just it can go above 19 m/s? Or is it lower powered? Fantastic video.
It’s on the GPS position that puts it f
That as I have Mavic 3 and if run in FCC mode get full 21m/s
Dude you almost made me lose my breath, that’s hilarious, I thought the drone could never make it, you have a lot of courage gambling with these conditions, that’s a lot of fear…watching it land safely was a big relief, man please don’t do it again 😂
How's that controller do with distance ? Is it as good as the rcn1
I lost my mavic air 2 due to strong winds, the battery drained before it could make if back to me, it landed on some mountain right before it turned off. Good to know that the air 3 does better in strong winds and the battery is larger.
than you cant fly
@@sniffiejoe9370 sure I can
I noticed around 1:57 into the video how the battery time was jumping around. That was weird. I guess it does that with strong winds because of the stress on the drone?
What was that digger doing at the end of the pier.😊
The second failure for the quickshot threw up a "control stick moved -exiting Quickshot." - understandable with you getting pounded by the sand, etc. Not sure you noticed at the time.
im thinking about getting one do yall think i should?
Can this handle as much wind as the Mavic 2 PRO?
is it possible due to high wind that the drone flips and shuts off (like when you grab it out of the air during landing)?
yeah also keen to know, what risk are you taking here with gusts potential to knock it out of the sky, or ok?
I am continually impressed with DJI, my mini 3 pro could handle those winds just as stable I feel like. Although my Avata not so much, it would not be able to handle these conditions one bit but they are entirely different drones.
I can assure you that the Mini 3 Pro can't survive that wind. Almost lost my drone on a recent trip and the wind was nowhere near the strong
@@isjf2048 I flew mine 40 mph my i suggest you learn how to fly a toy drone first
there another dji guy in Clacton he lost his mini drone the other night in strong winds but some one found his drone good he got it back. Luckily he was not over the sea.
9:20 ✈️ airplane in the sky. Good to see safety
The wide body jet you hear is some 3,500-4,500ft high typically in that stage of over the coastline as they work their way towards AMS and runway 18R, nearly 20km away. This area is well outside the no-fly zone, and AirSense is/was enabled, so any meaningful unexpected/emergency concerns would pop up on the screen. Finally, I’m flying in the correctly regulated airspace below the required altitudes, following all rules as a licensed operator.
So yes, good to see safety. Let me know if you have any actual questions - or if you’re just gonna pretend to know what you’re taking about.
Bro this is a seagull
test ist perfect! cool drone for wind watersports! but 1080/200fps looks not that nice.. maybe you can film some video just in 100fps 4k? I
Didn't you watch the footage towards the end of the video? Your wish was granted.
I'm saving you from pulling your hair off 6 months later! 😆Wait for the Dji Air 3 Pro. I said this more than 2 weeks ago, when the leaks confirmed that the Air 3 will come with a dual 1/1.3 sensor. PS. Dji is dropping the S version.
Have a good one's an Aussie saying 😂😊❤ mad beat too what's it's name please mate? 🥰❤
I wait on your tracking/follow-me Test ;-) ...so far I can tell there is not that much improvement against its precessors
Does anyone know if the mavic 3 propellers fit the air 3?
Yes, the brackets fit. However, the front Mavic 3 propellers on the Air 3 will touch the frame. The back ones seem to fit fine.
DC Rainmaker aka The human wind tunnel....
I thought it is rated to 36kmh which is 10m/s.
China 🇨🇳 knocks it out of the Park yet again.
is "sloppy seconds" a scientific term?
Warning … obviously I’m not going to do that!
Please do not try this at home.
drone zoom cameras akin to sloppy seconds - cringe! :)
Couldn't watch this as the audio was crap 🤷
Nobody else has a problem with it…
@@Dcrainmaker maybe it's my ears then 🤷
So, It was throwing strong wind warnings. Who PAYS when these start being crashed.
