10 THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW | DJI Mini 2

  • In this video I cover 10 things you may not know about your DJI Mini 2. Well, it’s actually a lot more than 10 but I’m calling it 10. I cover topics such as embedded telemetry + camera data, gimbal pitch, batteries, flight pause, combination stick command + flight pause, phone charging, spot metering and more! Have a watch and hopefully you will learn a new trick or two about this amazing little drone! Thanks for watching!
    Breakdown on the tips...
    00:14 Telemetry Data
    00:58 Flight Pause
    01:32 The Nudge
    02:27 Batteries
    03:28 Gimbal
    04:15 More Info
    04:55 White Balance
    05:34 Pinpoint Zoom
    06:16 Phone Charging
    06:38 Spot Metering
    NOTE 1: The "Phone Charging" option is only available on iOS where you can choose for it to be on or off. On Android devices it is enabled automatically and cannot be turned off hence the option is not available. Sorry for the confusion.
    NOTE 2: Hat Tip to Yves for the pull down nudge trick! I only ever did "the nudge" by pushing the drone up since my DJI Spark days. I didn't know it worked in the opposite direction too. Cheers!
    NOTE 3: As of version 1.4.2 the "Phone Charging" option is no longer available. iOS devices now charge automatically like Android devices.

    Great information as always. Just a small advice, when turning off the motors, always use the left stick down instead of the combination. From what I learned, this combination to turn the propellers off are only for emergency shutdown :)
    Another question, the Mini 2 only slides the gimbal up and down? The Air 2 can also move left and right, for those who don't know. Cheers mate, thanks for all the tips. I really hope your channel grows fast, you totally deserve it.

      Why would this matter? They both turn the drone off.

    • @agent_ethan

      @michaelm.1947 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@agent_ethan As I usually hand catch (P4A+), I'm used to doing the L-hand off movement. So I was just wondering what was different.
      Yesterday I had a 360° camera mounted below and landed on a custom platform. In that case, I used the dual-stick method since both hands were free.

    I thought when you let go of the sticks on the remote the drone would hover in place. Is the pause button any different than that except for that it overrides return to home if it is on?

    • @SteveCoutts
      @SteveCoutts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Correct. Flight Pause is different because it immediately stops flight regardless of what's happening - full throttle, quick shot, RTH, etc. So, the idea is, at least I think, in a panic or critical situation, you don't have to fumble around touch the correct part of the screen or perform a joystick action. Eyes on the drone, muscle memory kicks in and you hit flight pause and the drone stops. I think it's most useful for automated flight where I can watch the drone and keep my thumb hovered over flight pause for when my "dronie" QuickShot is heading right in to a tree. I believe touching either stick will stop a QuickShot too but I like the idea of drilling one action in my head for those times when I don't have time to think. Cheers!

    Thanks for the info. I have a mini 1. Are the sticks on the controller easier to operate on the mini 2? That is my biggest disappointment with the mini compared to my Phantom 4. The controls are stiff and very hard to control smoothly. It’s like trying to draw a circle with an Etch-a-Sketch. It’s almost impossible to smoothly turn while changing altitude or moving forward or back.

    • @SteveCoutts
      @SteveCoutts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I went from the Spark to the Mini 1. I found that the Mini 1's controller was definitely not of the same quality. From the Mini 1 to the Mini 2, the quality of the controller and its controls have definitely been improved. It was one of the first things I noticed going from the M1 to M2, the smoothness of the new remote. Cheers!

      I've just got mine as well, I've run out of the fly more package a rubber of times. I've learnt just today how to use the high speed fpv turning using both controls. I have built a little low altitude course for it. I'm flying the course in normal now at speed smoothly, next to have the confidence to fly long distance.
