This flight is not an easy first timer flight. The area has a private airfield, an uncontrolled municipal airfield and 500 meters above is Saint George approach. Do not fly unless you have a air traffic scanner. I use a inexpensive radio to monitor airport traffic. I also fly on low periods. Be safe. I use a UNIDEN SR30C if you want to invest in one. $120.00
You don't need that just stay under 400 Agl you would be fine

Also, I've been wanting to fly the Nipple but have been wary of the Hurricane airport and Sky Ranch being so close...
I recommend you get your part 107 if you are going to fly these locations. You need to know what to do. Sky ranch uncontrolled. You should have a radio. I have a radio. You are under the St. Goeorge approach and near Hurricane which is uncontrolled class G. You need to be able to monitor air traffic. It’s not an easy area to fly. It is legal if you know the space your flying. If I fly it again, I will try from the trailhead.

I just got my MINI 2SE 2 days ago and i have fly it just today, yeah im new i all this flying drone thing lol.. i have figure out a few things with just one fly already but i still don't know how to record video and audio yet. If you don't mind can you explain me how you do that please or do a video showing your settings and explaining what to do to get and amassing video/adio recording like yours... PS... To be honest, the 2.7K sensor produces great quality. On upscaling panels, it is very difficult, if not even impossible, to tell the difference with 4k of the Mini 3. Admittedly true vertical shooting mode would be great, I am guessing that won't come for another iteration or possibly two. DJI has no announcements regarding SDK for the Mini 2SE, but you got to believe they will eventually release that which would then mean you would get follow-me/tracking modes via third party products such as Litchi and Dronelink. This seems to be a great entry drone with plenty of room to grow.

Just WOW, also the distance you fly, I'm a newby 4th day of owning a Mini 2 SE and am afraid to loose sight, I think I should depend more on my screen than constant watching the skies to see where my drone is LOL. Any advice to become more confident? Or is it just experiance over time?

Hey bro . I had to get back to doing a steel stud layout during that live the other day but I saw the dji mini 2 se vids and realized this will be my second drone very soon hopefully . Actually I can pull the trigger anytime on anything . My fear was it will fly away at a certain height or lose connection and take off north 😂 like I’ve had a wifi one do the other day . This one seems pretty well thought out on not losing it . At least it gives good chances of rth happening . Cpl more days of research but I already know it’s a banger and the one to get before spending 4 figures

I need to get a new camera drone and this is looking pretty good. Do you think that this will be old tech in a few months?! I had the mini and a year after I got it.....it was obsolete.....great video thanks for sharing this se takes some great video and surprisingly did well in that wind
It’s mostly about flight cost and usage. Mini 2 is old tech, but it’s really capable and flexible. I’ve purchased and flew all of the mini drones. This one has a great price point. I would also look for refurbished mini 2 packages. It has the full 4K unlocked.

I guess it makes me a little P.O that u spend good money on a drone and in 3 months something new and improved comes out. U got to a millionaire to keep up with DJI. I may just wait for the air3
You might consider the Autel Nano Plus. Some really good deals right now. The camera is fantastic, arguably better than a Mini 3 Pro, but the software lacks the panache of DJI.

Hey Jimmy! Old tech or not, the video results are really good! Even the original Mavic Mini, although not great, still fooled most people, as shown in my latest video.
It just shows how good these DJI drones are these days. No need for the latest and greatest.

Newbie here. Amazing video for sure but wouldn't that not qualify as the line of sight rule? I mean while yes you can see the area the drone is in but seemingly over mile away wouldn't it have been almost impossible to see such a small drone? Asking for informational purposes that's all amazing shots for sure.

If you don’t run the camera, the drone will use less power. So record your phone screen. That’s what I would do.

I thought this model didn’t have obstacle avoidance ? How do you know how close you are to the mountain from that distance ?
5 years of looking through DJI cameras and thousands of flight hours, makes it not too hard. Sensors can give you some great information, but the pilot still needs to know the bird they are flying.
I notice some video image degradation when panning. Is that likely to be less with say a Mini 3 40K camera?
TH-cam destroys video quality as well. Turning and panning create speed, and the image sensor needs to have a fast frame rate to pick up details of the pan. Its always advisable when filming to stay on a forward steady course and cut out the turns in editing to eliminate (studder) you will notice that more expansive drones with better cameras do not have these problems.

Hi Dad, nice flight. To paraphrase a famous movie, "If you are the Federale where is your OA?" , "OA OA? we don't need no stinking OA". Real men don't need OA. I think that the DJI Mini 2 SE is a perfect drone to do internal building inspections without risking people. Maybe the police and firefighters would find the Mini 2 SE a useful inspection tool?

DJI specs 30+ min of flight time but your vid w/ the Mini 2 SE is less than 13min of flight. I'm curious if you cut alot of flight footage in editing or is DJI grossly over estimating their flight times again? BTW - Kudos on the great vid and Amazing footage 👏

Yes, the dreaded gimbal lurch correction. Only in high winds when the drone is strait into the wind
What is the flight time when fully charged?
+@inquisitvem6723 depends on the battery you use. Plus batteries give you realistic 35 minutes and regular batteries 25 minutes. The SE can also take the LiIon packs (black) that are also good for 25 plus minutes. Why I love the Mini 2 SE.

I never said anything about obstacle avoidance or implied it had it. I’ve flown hundreds of drones and FPV quads. So I recommend you actually watch and listen to every thing that’s said.
