    As of 2019, Hertz-Uber does NOT allow drivers to participate in other promotional offers like Boost and Quest while renting. Uber will provide $215 for every 120 trips which makes the rental free where you keep 100.1% of your earnings - this makes the rental cost -$1 (Hertz rental is $214). Uber saw that Drivers were making alot of money on the Rentals and did away with the promo's. So the $992 Boost Ezra made in ONE week for 162 trips while renting, is gone and instead they are offering an alternative of $215 per 120 trips. So Uber seems to be taking advantage of drivers because this sucks!!!!

      Lone Petersen I'm in Denver. You gotta know your city try different times. If I work between 6am-9am that's $10 an hr. 10am-1pm is $14 an hr. 1-6pm is $10. 6pm-6am is 18 an hr. on weekdays. $21 an hr is pretty much a guarantee if you work weekends. Just got to know when and where to work.

    Great video
    sounds like a winner. Hope all Uber drivers has same weekly $2,500.00 gross take home just like you . Plus your car rental is a great deal$204.00 per week...insurance cover by both companies and no need to worry about car repair....
    10 hours a day
    6 days a week
    $25.00 per hour
    only negative is that you do not get over time pay after working 40 hours and no health benefit.

    Thanks for this great informational video. Very helpful and gives me some insight as to what it takes. I want to learn everything I need to know before I get into the business. I am planning on buying a second car to dedicate it to the business and since I know how to perform all basic maintenance it would safe me lots of money both by not paying rental or basic maintenance services. Your spread sheets is a great idea as it'll be a great way to know when I made or lost money. - Hello from Chaska Minnesota

    Nice income, but driving more than 40 hrs a week and driving more than 10 hrs a day is a burn out. Notice you get Referral Reward each week, how many referrals do you give out per week? On average many drivers don`t give out referrals, too many drivers out there. I don`t do referrals. You got to have a life. I only do 10- 12 rides a day and spend 5 hours at most per day. I think Uber should be only a supplemental Income. I`m Retired and I want to enjoy life and not drive so much. I must say that $200 plus per week is expensive. I`m happy just making few hundred dollars per week and spend time with friends and family. If you have to get a car, buy your own and pay lower payments per month. How much gas do you spend per week?

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rideshare rentals are for folks who are going to drive a lot of miles every week so not a good solution for you. I don't discuss the referral earnings as part of my income in the video because I know that most drivers will not get referrals. I just want to show what's possible with hard work and lots of driving

  • @claymanbob1
    @claymanbob1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    Mileage is only deductible for your personal car, not a rental. For rentals, you can deduct the gas cost instead.

      you're not wrong... the rates are lower and there's a lot less surge than there was in 2016 - that's the big thing. in 2014-2016, it would surge to 3x in LA at some time almost every day. now i only see that on New Year's Eve, etc...

    So it's already cheap and also new and I am not worry about loosing that much money on car's value.
    I thought it is a better Idea ibstead renting car.

    • @RideshareGenius

      Yes! That is the best way to approach this business - buy an affordable car that is reliable and nice enough to not HURT your ratings. Then drive it a lot and get all of that mileage deduction on your taxes. Do you agree?
      Lots of people don't the means to purchase a car which is why these rentals are popular

    if boost isn't in your area and you're not driving XL then it's like impossible to make money with Uber. lol. I can't stand these channels that make all this money and try to get people to believe it's possible and sign up with them.
    notice a lot of their earnings are from referrals. also from boost. driving makes money but if you can't get boost, or even surge, might as well forget about it.

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never driven XL and I've been able to earn decent money doing this. As far as Boost, it's something you have to take advantage of if it's in your city. If it's not, there are usually other strategies that can help profitability. If you watched the video, you'd know I went over the specifics of how I earn what I do and I also stressed that this was the result of a lot of planning and hard work. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.

      Great question! Here in California, Uber allows you to drive anywhere in the state. But in some cities and states, regulations vary. I've heard Hillsborough County (Tampa area) is tougher on driver requirements.... I think it would be best to ask the rental company or your local Uber support about where you're allowed to drive exactly...

    By renting a car, aren't you subjecting yourself to drastically higher taxes? Any car you own you can take your standard deduction per mile. 4k miles means you can deduct around 2500 vs 600. By owning you can even leave about 400 a month budget in repairs. Actual is no where near that much. Especially for a 7k car. To me, I have no idea why one would rent.

  • @johndolan513

    Okay Genius, what's the total cost (taxes and fees not included)? In Austin they say $214 per week, fees and taxes extra. When is the bonus program coming to Austin? Can I put the deposit on a credit card ( just like when you rent a car) and pay the weekly fee on a debit? If you are a Genius, you should be able to answer these questions without telling me to visit Hertz or Uber's website. Not trying to be snarky, but you can't find the answers to these questions anywhere. The morons at the Uber Greenlight didn't even know. They told me to visit Hertz and guess what Hertz told me? Yep, talk to Uber! You're the first person that said you need to have the deposit and first week with you when you sign up. If you can't answer these questions you need to change your name!

      HI!! It's not possible. You won't be able to get the vehicle added to your Uber account without the registration and insurance under your name. I like the idea though! LOL. There are some options though... lots of big cities have private fleet owners who rent out cars to drivers - you could go that route and get a rental car set up with multiple apps.

    The highest I ever made and this is in Connecticut. I made 1250.00 that was the most I made with my 2009 Hyundai sonata. Boost not available in the part of Connecticut where I live. It does surge but when I'm near or around and this was multiple times and once in a blue i get surge pricing.I think they purposely put out surges to just bring drivers back to the area.I have 20,000 miles on my car.I have not made 20,000.I only made a little over $11,000. So pretty much im at a loss. Your making money like that I need to move to your area. Cause I never seen 2,500 weeks.

I do plan on signing up with Uber through your link, is it possible to still contact you for advice before I sign up? I won't be able to start driving until May/June. Thanks in advance!

    UBER Hertz Rental Car program is horrible here in Atlanta, you have to go Hertz/uber website reserve a car, you must put reservation date on April 2018 or after, and you have text that information to them and they gonna put you for waiting list, believe me, you never get a call.

    I'm just asking cause my insurance found out, not that I was keeping it a secret, just didn't know it would be an issue since Lyft has their own insurance. Unfortunately now they want to kick me off. *smh*

    The biggest problem with these rental programs is the insurance...The full coverage is only in effect while you are signed in to the allowed rideshare platform (You are either on an active trip or on your way to pickup or you are online)... Any damages to the interior or exterior of the vehicle .... you are personally responsible for, Unless your insurance offers full coverage for commercial rental and most will not.. so, say if a customer throws up in your vehicle drags snow or water into a vehicle(I realize that you can get the rideshare company to charge the customer for the cleaning/damage fees etc., sometimes your customer may lie and accuse you of fabricating said allegations) , You will be responsible for returning the vehicle in the same condition it was in when you picked it up regardless of how your request to be compensated for damages caused by the customer is ultimately handled. Someone ( totals, scratches or in any way damages) your rented car while parked on the street.. you're responsible for the damage. So keep these situations in mind before you decide to rent...

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s true that you’re responsible for the car and riders could certainly mess it up. But remember a few things - 1. If a rider damages or dirties the car, you can request a cleaning fee
      2. The rental company is not going to go over the car with a magnifying glass when you return it. They are just happy if there are no dents or scratches.
      I did something like 500 trips with this car and collected a few cleaning fees along the way and they didn’t complain when I returned the car

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did! Because I know the Uber price multiplier (surge of boost) in advance of accepting a ride, I find I can leverage that info to earn more than with Lyft, which only discloses Prime Time amounts after the ride is over. More info on that here - th-cam.com/video/yFfSKe2T2SM/w-d-xo.html

      Hi, Dennis! From what I can tell, Hertz now processes all of the rental payments. You can always call the branch directly to confirm. Here's some fine print from Hertz :) www.hertz.com/rentacar/misc/index.jsp?targetPage=UberFAQs.jsp

    Lyft is $2500 deductible.

  • @andrewwashere82
    @andrewwashere82 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was reading up on the Lyft rental, they charge for personal miles used. So trying to do both Lyft and Uber at the same like most drivers are doing, might be possible, but you'll be paying for the personal miles every time you turn off the Lyft app to pick up an Uber customer. That's my theory anyway. The car may not even be approved to use for both Rideshares, because it's a rental.
    Anyway, my question: since the personal miles are free on the Uber rental and if you're paying for the rental anyway, can you do Lyft also?

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! For Lyft, there are 2 types of rentals: GM and Hertz. With GM, personal miles are charged, but with Hertz, unlimited miles are included. You would not be able to get a Lyft rental set up with Uber and you also wouldn't be able to get an Uber rental set up with Lyft. I wish that were possible! :)

    Hi guys"Does Uber cover collision insurance in period 2 and 3 for Hertz-Uber rental vehicles ?" Hertz only covers off app and period 1 for collision with 1K deductible. ( I only carry liability on my "personal vehicle".).

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, Uber provides the coverage during periods 2 and 3 for sure...

    • @californix
      @californix 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, on the web, literature is ambiguous for Collision and Uber won't reply. Herein was my confusion -- The California policy, the Hertz-Uber rental redirects to only says "Contingent comprehensive and collision insurance. If a rideshare driver holds comprehensive and collision insurance on his/her vehicle,"
      I only carry liability on my private car, but am assuming since Hertz is covering Collsion when off-app and period 1, Uber covers 2 & 3?
      From the rental program page:
      "*The Hertz Damage Waiver
      applies to damage to the vehicle itself in excess of $1,000 occurring
      while off-app or while on-app before accepting a request from a
      passenger. When off-app, Renter is responsible for any other liability
      incurred, subject to the minimum financial responsibility of Hertz. Uber
      provides additional coverage for on-app driving. For such Uber coverage
      in California, click here. For such Uber coverage in all other states, click here.
      Hertz may not offer any additional protection products, including
      insurance products. Terms and Conditions apply to all protection and
      insurance products. Loss Damage Waiver terms can be found in the rental
      agreement, rental agreement addendum, and online."

      Amit, great attention to detail. When I rented, I had collision on my personal vehicle. But this program is also supposed to be for people without their own cars/insurance. I was verbally told that all coverage is provided, but without a lawyer, I'm not sure we'll figure out the truth... I wish I had more answers to provide, I hope Uber will figure this out for you

    Keep in mind that the profiting 20.00. In a hour driving from uber is not the same as getting paid 20.00 a hour for a full time job, for instance , full time employees get health care, are covered by workers comp ( disability insurance) receive unemployment insurance, also after 40 hours of work , a worker is paid time and a half ,also most self employed people do not pay ss and though not mandated by law , most company's match 401k contributions

      Yes, I agree 100%. I think drivers who put in a certain number of hours should get benefits, obviously not gonna happen... The unfortunate reality is that lots of those benefits and protections are eroding in the corporate world as well. Lots of folks who are considering Uber don't have the experience for a lot of the jobs you that would pay $20/hour with benefits. And some people might just want a flexible, part-time thing.
