UPDATE: driving for Uber using the rental program has definitely helped me when I need extra cash and catch up on bills!! When I don’t need the car, I just turn it in and get a new one when I want to drive again. I still prefer to drive in the mornings and on weekends. If you’re looking for a flexible side hustle and/or in need of a car “quick fix” I still recommend!! Use this link to get a bonus when signing up.
Earn at least $1,750 for your first 180 passenger trips in 30 days. 🎉 drivers.uber.com/i/gestyac4j454
Hi, I have a question did Davis do a credit check as well as a background check?
Chile, I thought ot was $200 a day! 😮 Then, my uber driver told me its $200/week and said to check out a TH-cam video. You were the first to arise! 🎉 Thank you! This was extremely helpful ESPECIALLY as a fellow new Black female entrepreneur ❤❤❤
I rent a kia Niro 2023 for 280$ a week and it gets 500 miles!!! On one gas tank!! So i pay like 45$ on gas for 7 days and i make the 280$ in one day, every other day is all pure profit to me, 100% WORTH IT BUTTTT I WORK IN BOSTON SO YEA, Boston is BUSYYYYY i also am the first person to ever drive the car it only had 35 miles on it so besides the cars delivery. I really got a GREAT DEAL
how do i like the Niro? I’ve thought about purchasing one for saving of the gas
I was thinking about driving for Uber or Lyft and came here for some basic information. I usually don't comment on videos, but I wanted you to know how much I appreciated the straightforward way you shot this- the succinct information, the video and audio quality and most importantly your vibe. You don't take on the typical "TH-camr" persona. You're authentic and that's refreshing! One of the better informational videos I've seen in a long time!
Thank you so much Michael! I really appreciate it. What’s crazy is before I shot this I was like how would I want to receive this information: straight to the point and real. I’m glad I was able to help! Best of luck to you and you decide to do it!
I agree!!
This!
This option is good only if you are a full time Uber driver like me, I drive 10 hours a day 5 days a week and I make anywhere between $300-$350 daily in New Jersey, but if you are a part time driver then renting a car for Uber is not worth it.
@@Rob-xo1yk Depends on the market, here in NJ there's lots of surge especially around Jersey City/Hoboken area, I am now driving 4 days a week for 10 hours each day Because I'm getting older and don't have the same energy, Im still getting my 40 hours a week though.
Yeah you would lose money if you’re not planning to drive full time. How much do you pay for your car rental?
You are kicking ass.
@@kevinbernhardt3568I agree.I am going to give it a shot next week, and just go full time.
Facts. In Fresno ca it’s so low. I make 100 per 10 rides. In San Francisco it can be double.
My friend’s daughter is renting a Uber car and paying over $300 a week 😮. She works for Amazon and Uber eats. She was tired of taking the bus and needed a car with no questions asked.
She likes throwing money away.
at that point she might as well just get a car note for a nissan versa or a cheap hyundai or something like that
@@samnucksome people have no choice like me bad credit or no down payment for a car
@@romancedennis290 did you have to pay a deposit?
I am a driver here in Baltimore and your video was informative and straight to the point! Everyone's situation is different, so you must do what is best for your situation.
that's right!! thank you! What works for one might not work for everyone. Glad you found it helpful!
How are you doing on Baltimore?
I have never commented on a video before. But the presentation you just made was outstanding. Thanks for doing this video. Really helpful.
Thank you for this you definitely explained and elaborated very well now I can finally make my decision. I’m going for it. It will help out so much
One of the benefits I do see is that the entire cost of the rental would be deductible on your taxes. So factoring in the no cost for maintenance and this deduction it might not be as financially detrimental.
This peaked my interest. My apologies if this isn’t the smartest question but how do you go about writing this off on your taxes
@@kyrahill2420 Its simply a business expense. The same as when you claim a mileage deduction for your ridesharing miles at the end of the year. If you do you taxes through software like Quicken it will be able to guide you.
so i can essentially get all i paid for rentals back in march?
That’s not really how deductions work. But you can deduct the rental cost from your earned income.
@@TIthatmanyes, because it's a business expense.
Thank you. Perfect explanation of steps and simple video. Thank you so much!
I got started with rideshare 7 years ago with the rental program. I think it's a great option if you want to try rideshare but don't have a vehicle. It can also be fun because you get to drive a lot of different vehicles. However, from a financial perspective it absolutely does not make sense to keep renting if you plan to do it for a longer period of time -- those rental fees add up, in my case I was spending $16000 a year on rental fees. Also, the car insurance that comes with the rental is pretty bad (with a $1500-$2500 deductible). For many drivers, they are just one accident away from financial ruin.
Oh my goodness no one thinks about the a DEDUCTIBLE!!! Thanks for mentioning this!!!
@@robertmorgan2219 I started renting with Uber partnershiped with Hertz, the deductible is $1000 and I made full coverage with the contract between Hertz and me which costs about 70 per week.
In Fresno we don’t have that deductible.
i agree
So true! Someone hit me while I was renting with Lyft and I may have to pay the $1000 deductible even tho the damage is not worth half that. Then I have to wait until the other woman's insurance reimburse me.
You have great style to the point I enjoyed watching. I think also with the car note weekly over your head you’ll be out working since you know in a week another note is due. Wishing you all the best! (I also just subscribed for future content)
Thank you!! Yea I try to be strategic about it as much as I can be to avoid any hiccups.
Thank you for the video. This is something I have never done doing Uber and someone just reminded me about this today, and I had a lot of questions, but you answered a majority of them. 😊

Thanks for this vid. I have 2 cars, a Camaro and a family van.. But I'm thinking about renting one so I can do my rides during the day and not have to wait till the wife comes home. Theres more money to be made in the evenings of course but for me its a thing of work life balance. The cars in Atlanta were renting for about the same... I've done uber before in my personal vehicle so I know I can make the money. I might jump into it this week
You’re welcome! Did you do it? I just got a different car, same price though. I agree, the night life brings in the cash
Thank you very much for the information on this, I’ve been looking around for a few days to see if it was worth it to rent and this is the best breakdown so far.

@@nayecole You're welcome! ❤️
Don't forget the depreciation of the vehicle you own if you drive your own car. Sometimes you can write them off on your taxes. If you did uber full time those miles add up very quickly. Its something to think about and its why im thinking about renting instead.
Luckily I only need to rent for a month or two to save up a few grand to buy a beater to drive so that I can save up for a down payment on a Tesla. I’m a part time driver so I don’t need much per month.
It’s a bit expensive over 1900 a month with rental and gas costs you will need to drive 8-10-12 hours a day in order to at least make $700-800 to pay for your life with.. it’s a bit of a uneasy feeling knowing your one accident away to financial demise. The deductible with that will doom you!
Another thing you have to give a minimum of 30 Uber rides a week to keep it through Uber. Also if you get sick and cannot drive you will have to give up the car😢 which is another huge concern so it is a hustle that you can get into bit for the long term if this is your sole source of income can be heavy on the brain.
Thanks for the information
Thank you for this video. I have been doing uber for about 9 years on personal vehicle. My car broke down yesterday and looking at serious repairs leaving me wondering if I can cover it meanwhile frantically worrying about upcoming bills. This is very reassuring and definitely puts a lot of my worries at ease. Not only do I uber uber to pay bills but I am attending ASU with the help of Uber's benefits.
Do you know if you can do Lyft with a rental car from Avis even though its signed up with through Uber app? I have an appointment to pick up my car now on Monday.

lol thank you! not skipping 9 to 5. I needed a income during the interim

If you want an easy no worries car to drive, this is a great way to do it. Obviously it's a big weekly expense against your earnings.
I'm mechanically inclined, so I've gone the route of buying older upscale brand cars and driving them for 6-12 months. I can always find a clean and presentable BMW/Mercedes/Audi e.t.c for $4k-$5k. Of course you need the money up front, but for me it's much cheaper longterm.
Are you really getting upscale vehicles for $4k-$5k that are less than 15 years old to qualify? Doesnt seem possible. I'm curious.
I feel it is still worth it (a pro) as far as the weekly pay being when you think about it, between a car note as well as insurance and maintenance that would probably equate paying more than what paying weekly would be for the car especially since that's included. I see Uber would be better for a number of reasons from my experience of driving with Lyft. I'm happy to see we get our money up front versus having to do rides first before making our money like Lyft did. Thanks for this video girly it was helpful.

hello good info , i am using hertz rental now...may i ask how to access the maitenence portal? the guy at hertz mentioned this to me to view any maitenence needed or if i needed a request ...i cant it anyhere in the driver app
Awesome explanation great video as well, my situation is that I'm currently carless and have been Ubering to work pretty much 5 days a week to work and back home I recently got a ride from a driver who was renting and driving a vehicle for Uber,, my question is do you think it would make sense to sign up for this rental program thru Uber and drive it to work during the week I mean I'm already spending 200$ a week on rides anyways but I think I could pay it off by driving on the weekends and after hours of my initial job.. just need some insight on this ? Also the driver that I got the ride from was driving an electric vehicle not a Tesla but I know you mentioned the gas thing would it make sense to get a gas rental or EV ??
If you commit to driving after work and weekends to pay the car it can work but personally it can be tiring! Keep that in mind.
I have heard the EV cars are better but I would look into charging stations in your area first and factor that price
Thaaaaank you Sis!!!🙏🏽
You are so welcome! ✨
7 years driving my car for Uber.
I'm in 1st week of using Tesla3 rental as an experiment. I'm driving the same number of hours as my ICE (25 hrs).
$382/week including taxes and fees in Silicon Valley.
So far I have had to charge each day at $20 (5 days). So far that's $482 in expenses and 2.5 hours of charging at Superchargers for $575 revenue. For Sat/Sun I expect to grab another $500 revenue and another $100 charging fees along with 2 more hrs of charging.
So, $1075 revenue with $682 in expenses leaves me with just under $400 net while wasting 4.5 hours idle time while charging.
To make approx $1600/month net while paying about the same $1600/month for rental doesn't make sense unless i drive closer to 40 hrs vs 25/wk...which I won't do.
I do get many Green rides but no XL with rental so I actually think I'm losing out on those sweet long XL and the $$$.
Without completing one full week, my opinion is dont rent unless you drive minimum of 40 hrs/wk.
If I were to rent this for one year, I would have paid fees half the price of brand new Tesla3.
HI there is it still worth renting ? I've seen so many complaints lately with Uber/Lyft and low pay
sounds good i use my own
Thanks 🎉
could you doa video on uber schedule you do? I just started!🎉
It is a very expensive option but for those who qualify and are eligible right away and who need a car today today lol and can’t get approved for a new or used car bc of low credit or no down payment available for a car yet this is a perfect option until you get to the point where your credit repairs and you can buy or finance a vehicle of your own. In my case I wanna work now in my craft career but it requires a car bc city or suburban transit is not available for the hours I need to start and stop working so I’m readying myself for my documents to clear so I can get back to work til we are able to find a suitable vehicle to own or finance
I agree, it’s definitely expensive
😂😂😂
It is expensive but not being responsible for maintenance is the best. Now I don't have to drive my personal car to the ground.
@@Liyareignright . I rather go expensive then put $40,000 a miles on my car
It’s expensive but this is a good option if you’re doing gig work, full-time 355 a week if you’re making $1500-$2000 a week it’s pretty good
Try Turo and find a private person that specifically rents cars to drivers and negotiate a rate. You can usually find someone with a decent hybrid for around $35 a day (depending on your market). I’m in Indy and the cost of registering a car here is pretty inexpensive. I only drive occasionally, but I drive a really nice car and there is no chance I’m destroying my car.
Uber has restrictions. They have to approve your car and you have to provide a lot of documentation.
Yes please do not try this if your name isn’t on the insurance and registration Uber will not allow it only their partners
It seems Uber is definitely better than Lyft when renting according to Nayecole. I rented Lyft and there’s a 20 ride minimum plus before you receive any of your earnings Lyft deducts until the weekly rental fee is accumulated. I can’t begin to explain how mentally and psychologically difficult that is to feel as though you’re working for free basically until you reach the ride quota and rental fee while you’re burning and having to buy fuel. So the Uber rental definitely seems to be best. I caution any of you to stay clear of the Lyft express drive rental program.
That’s crazy lol I’m going through a situation with those folks. Yeah please stay away from Lyft express.
Well with either, u want to drive more than enough to pay back the rental anyway. 2-3 days can pay it off, leaving the rest of the week for pure revenue (minus gas).
Is it better to get an EV or standard mid sized car at a cheaper weekly price when renting for Uber?
So ok my car just went down and I'm a Uber eats driver.. so will they charge me to get the car or will they take it from my earnings
I did ubereats in the past with my own car on weekends it was cool. I’m interested in the best time to drive.
I did it a couple times, Im going to try it again. thanks! Ok I will make video about that! thank you for watching!😊
Uber Eats I found to be a blessing... Uber eats, you get more tips. and being 43 I sometimes don't wanna have to deal wit people while making money and eats allows me that option. But this is definitely an informative video!
I've tried Eats a bit, and it seems you make less money per hour than regular Uber driving. Like $5 for 30 mins. of your time, which is the equivalent of $10/hr. Uber driving seems to be more like $17-22/hr.
So you paid the $355 upfront (Plus the deposit but you didn't need to pay) when you picked up the car?
Yes it’s expensive but I like this because my personal car is a Mini Cooper and I’m not putting miles and wear and tear on it I’d rather pay extra and work a little extra to cover it

sounds good rental but is it worth it how many days or hours have work , pay for rental & making money after rental payment
Do you need to pay upfront for the Uber rental?
I've read that Lyft takes 60% of what you earn for the rides and pays it back into the rental before you earn what you earn. Is this the same with Uber?
Thank you for proving a clear and concise video! :)
I heard that about Lyft too! With uber, the payment comes directly out of your bank account. The money you make while driving is yours to withdraw whenever.
Yes.
You hit each point and it was straightforward with little to no fluff. Very informative. Thanks ma’am.
I live in Fresno CA. I’ve been driving for Uber 3 months. I have an electric vehicle through them that costs 350 weekly. I charge for free here in Fresno. I refuse to drive full time. That defeats the purpose of quitting FT, and without benefits I’m not giving anyone that much time. I may as well go back to work.
What makes it worth it? Access to a car. I don’t own one, and having one is better than not. However I drive about 10 rides a day. That’s part time. Most of my driving is to pay for the car. 😢
Now in San Francisco (I live 2.5 hours away) I can make the fee giving 20-26 rides in a day (10-12 hrs). In Fresno it takes 2-3 days. Driving 2 days in SF can earn the fee and earn me 350-400. That’s better than the 150-200 in Fresno. I lose free charging access though and have to drive far.
Thanks 👍
Do you work full time? On average how much you make? And Can you also do Doordash without them tripping
Hey girl! I’m trying to rent a car through Avis and they told me that the extra insurance doesn’t cover me when I’m off the clock. I do live in NY so maybe the rules are different for every state; but did they ever disclose that to you when you rented the car for Uber?
They didn’t tell me that! They told me that’s what it was for. Not sure if policy changes state to state or if they were tryna make an extra $ out of me

Is it possible to use the vehicle for other gigs like Instacart, doordash, not necessarily 💯Uber and still make your weekly payments? Like Does the source matter?
It depends on the app! Some ask for proof of vehicle registration. I personally did not Try too. The payment comes directly from your bank account so if the money is there. They are taking it
ok. Thanks for taking the time to respond.@@nayecole

Um, don't you pay for rental off the bat or upfront? Is there an option to where you pay on the backend? Also, where do you find vehicles for $200?
If you don't mind sharing what was your net profit your first week after paying the initial $356 upfront?
Can we get an update on whether or not its still worth it now.

Whats stopping people from using this option to get a rental for cheap (for the week)? Like do you have to complete a set number of rides? Since its a rental, can you use it for personal other than working?
In Fresno it requires 30 rides minimum weekly. I have to give about 35 rides to make the 350 fee. I drive part time so it takes about 2.5 days. After that I need real motivation to drive for myself. But in my city I can charge the electric vehicle for free.

Trying to sell my car went to enterprise to see if they do this type of thing and I feel it’s way more than having my own car
does your own car insurance need to know anything about you renting the car since you are using the rental co's insurance coverage?
Nope!
Hello Good morning I try to be Uber Driver myself I in Chicago I get my license first
yea i dont see that for me i just see Getting a car with True car or Fleet options is this program no longer open?
Yes the program is still open. The cars / places vary based on where you live!
rental you're basically slaving for 5 days straight 10 to 12 hours a day to pay the rental and the hidden fees ( charging that cna go from 15 to 20$ a day + washing the car every 2-3 days ) and you have 2 days left to make the rental reasonable , done that and i'm never ever putting myself in that situation
It seems like not all Avis and Hertz rental locations participate with UBER.
I recently discovered this while having my car in the body shop, after I was hit by another driver while Ubering.
The other driver's insurance paid for the rental due to her being at fault. Enterprise wouldn't let me use the rental to UBER and neither would UBER.
This took about 10 phone calls with UBER driver support to figure out. Driver support, for whatever reason, wasn't getting what I was explaining to them; go figure.
Finally, after a few days and multiple phone calls to Driver support, the nearest eligible Rental agency, was over 70 miles away and would cost me approximately $450 a week.
I already had a free rental through the other driver's insurance, but I couldn't use it to UBER. A real cluster@#%$
UBER needs to expand their rental partnership.
I couldn't work for nearly 3 weeks due to my car being in the body shop.
Right..girl come way
Insurance of lady has to pay lost wages
Did they do a credit check as well and ask for a credit card on file?
No and no
Is it worth it if you are planning to rent a car for a couple days anyways for personal day trips in the week your working for uber?
Uber has a separate rental car program not driving for Uber. Driving for Uber requires specific cars designated and registered for Uber through the rental agency. So you might not be able to get away with that.
Can you lease a hybrid
Does Avis require a certain credit score to rent a car from them? Hertz did not. But I heard Avis does. Someone please let me know
They didn’t when I rented with them
