As an IC, and NOT an employee, I have the ABSOLUTE RIGHT to know AHEAD OF TIME any and all info that will help me make an informed decision about where I decide to drive MY CAR paying for MY GAS for MY SAFETY. So, hell yes, I will HAPPILY discriminate 24/7 for my safety.
I take all rides no matter what. I took a pax yesterday a half mile but it put me in position to pick one up going 54 miles. Take the good with the bad.
+Luna EB Did you have my passenger from yesterday? LOL!!! I had someone that needed to go about 6 blocks to 7/11 and back home. I wouldn't have canceled on him but, wow... And like Ronnie mentioned... it put me in a location to pick up some guys going about 40 miles out.
+Ronnie Inabnit Hey this is true as well! This doesn't work on the 3am calls in the suburbs, however. If you're stuck out there, you're stuck. Gotta wait and take a nap. You might not get another call for an hour, and it may again be 18 miles away (hopefully not). I think that in the future, Uber will allow us to edit how many miles we can drive to do a pickup.
Just following up on this...I have an android ZTE and after watching this I tried it and it works. I click on the information clipboard top right and then waybill on the next page and it shows right up! Thanks for the info!
After accepting, on upper right is a info button. This brings up a screen with your assigned phone number, the pax name, and their rating (Chicago area does not see this rating). Press waybill and you will see their pickup location, their destination if they entered it, and other trip info. So you have their destination before pickup.
***** I don't think the customer gets charged if the driver cancels for any reason. And if the customer does get charged in this situation he or she can just contact uber for refund.
It works! I tried it on my Note 3 Android and as long as the pax put's in their destination it shows on the way bill. I wish I knew this 5 months ago. Glad I know now!!!
I don't mind a block or two when I'm close. Downtown in Houston Ive strung several quick trips together with the pickups scheduled before I drop off. If it goes right, you get the min on each one for 3-4 quick trips. I.e., I had a dropoff then like a pickup 1-4 blocks away, then a few more like that.
hey uberman like the vids, uber told me that when i pick up a passenger and not comfortable with where they want to go, either to far or bad area that i was allowed to cancel on the spot, i just wasn't allowed to cancel for discriminatory reasons.
i thank you for that . i am Driver in new jersey i never cancel trips i take all the passengers but i can cancel if something wrong in my car or when i feeling tired or when i want use the bathroom
I am glad you posted this. I'm not cleared for airport pickup yet because I don't have plates on my new car yet. I'd hate to accept and show up and the person is going to the airport and I have to say no, I can't take you and they have to start over again.
Bychance37 I can't even count the number of times that has happened to me after waiting 10-15 min. And they pull up and see my suitcase and they say they can't go to the airport and I have to start over again.
I wouldn't cancel for a short trip, but several times recently I have had riders pull me 30 miles away from downtown Chicago right before the evening rush. Sure I make a decent fare way out to the 'burbs, but it is an hour out and at least an hour back with minimal fare opportunities on the trip back and I miss most of the evening rush and the related surge. This is perhaps my biggest gripe with Uber so far (about 6 weeks in). Uber has a very sophisticated system and should be able to notify drivers that the ride will take them far outside the downtown area and give them the right to decline. I have never cancelled an accepted ride except for a customer no show, and I won't start now. But this is what I currently do for a living and the long trips outside the city end up costing me about as much as I make.
D Palmer SAME HERE!!!! Always right b4 I have to pick my son up from daycare at 6:30pm & from Atlanta, that could EASILY be 1.5, almost 2 hours depending on traffic & it never happens until about 4:30pm then I HAVE to start heading right back from where I came with no pay bc I can't use the "enter your destination" feature bc there's not enough time at that point. Sometimes I've been able to do it & it's wonderful except for the time Uber made me 24 mins late picking my son up which costs $1 per minute after 6:30pm.. So I basically lost that entire fare. I have to put my arrival time as 30 mins b4 the actual time otherwise they'd have me late every time! I complained & then they did a survey about weeks ago asking questions about that particular feature... Dunno if it was really aimed at me or if everyone had the opportunity to take the survey.
I started driving 2 days ago around Princeton, NJ. I got a fare from somewhere in Princeton thinking it would be to some of the local stores or to the train station. After I had the riders luggage in the trunk and rider in the car, she told me she was going to JFK Airport in NY. It took me 2hrs 26mins to get there, and a further 3hrs to get back home. Afterward I searched for a way to see if I could see the final destination before pick-up so I could cancel such a long ride as it wasn't worth the hassle of driving in Friday rush hour traffic going into NYC. I found your video and tried the "Waybill Method" the next day, but like many people here keep getting "TO: As Directed...".A few things Uber could do to improve the experience for drivers would be to:1. Allow drivers to see the rider's destination before pick-up so they can cancel on an extra-long journey they don't wish to make.2. Have a way to set a radius or region the driver is comfortable driving in3. Let the driver have a picture of the rider in the same way the rider gets a picture of the driver so we know who we're looking for and to prevent some riders getting in the wrong vehicle.
Agreed with everything u said. One thinh i dont understand is not being able to see passengers pic...makes no sense becausr its more important for us to see them then it is for them to see us.
Seeing a picture in advance gives the driver an opportunity to discriminate based on what the passenger looks like by canceling the ride on them. This has happened with other services where they require a picture. You have the passenger's name in advance so most drivers I know asks what's your name before they get into the car. That's all the verification you need.
i tried what you said and it works ! i hit the waybill button and now i can see their destinations ! thanks Randy ! im not being picky i just want to make money that's all
Uber Man, for Mardi Gras which started this past weekend Uber has "reached out" to their veteran drivers who were driving last year for Mardi Gras and are still driving now. One thing they said was to ditch the Google Maps navigation and switch over to WAZE. Turns out that that seems like a good suggestion. I have had very little trouble using WAZE vs Google Maps. In addition, they said to ignore Uber's advice to text riders first before calling. With the crowds and traffic it's best to confirm the pax location immediately after accepting a ping by calling them. That way you can talk and drive legally here while texting requires you to pull over and stop to avoid violating local law and possibly having an accident. Besides, there is often no place to pull over in New Orleans as parking is tight and finding a safe location off the street is not easy. So WAZE it and call, don't text. I've had good results. If a pax asks me why I didn't text (that's never happened to me) I'll just explain that that is what Uber advised us to do during the busy Mardi Gras season.
I take all rides. The short ones are a cost of doing business. Assuming I don't know the destination, I'm often surprised -- hell, I just left the airport, now I'm going back (good), or the odd lady who needs to go about 40 miles. You never know. But, where I usually drive, I can't be picky, and short rides add up right now to little bonuses to compensate.
Cygnus X-1 Heh, this is good feedback. I was that odd lady, the drive cost me $51. It took just over am hour. However, the rider (me) is now becoming an Uber driver and guess who's codes I'm using to sign up for Uber & Lyft? Yep, my super friendly & patient 40+ mile driver. She gonna get PAID, because she was good to me! And THAT'S why you do it! ;-)
Sure. Take all rides. Without question or concern.... Until you repeatedly catch fares going across state lines into a neighboring state without reciprocity, getting stuck in four hours of 3 mph traffic heading into said state and 6 hours back out. All on a trip that SHOULD take slightly longer than an hour in either direction but due to traffic and the fact that you cannot originate a trip from within said state and therefore cannot deduct anything for the return trip, you've just wasted an entire day on one single fare ( after toll reimbursements, a whole $55 ) that not only was a complete wash due to it being all on your dime on the way back, you actually lost money due to the substantially longer trip back.... to finally get back to your home state, log on and surprise surprise....get another pax wanting to go across the state line......No smart business would do this repeatedly and neither will I.
If you are working under a guarantee, the more short trips you can do the better Hit your quota and go home. For some reason, no pings from residence. Rinse and repeat.
Tampa market Samsung Note 3. As long as they enter the address it shows in the way bill, Thanks Randy. Ill be using this so that I can input address into a 2nd GPS (waze) as a backup GPS before I reach pax.
I'm concerned about being a female and having a destination going to an unsafe area of Chicago or an area I'm not familiar with. I'm an accepting person but I'm not willing to get shot driving down the wrong street. If I'm an independent, why don't I have a say of where I'm going? It's not a matter of money, but safety.
I agree with Tephanie Goodson because i live in Atlanta and im not going too certain places or spots i know its unsafe. I will be Uber driver and stay safe. Uber should have safety feature like Lyft.
Im in Atlanta and I agree 100% that Uber needs some simple "Call Police" button because you're extremely vulnerable with the pax being behind you and able to modify the path you take. Im a 6'2" African American big fella and I still feel unsafe time to time
Heyy, Chi-town female Uber driver here too! Yeah, I end up in some very bad areas too! And those saying "don't be an Uber driver" can STFU. Uber needs drivers and people need to make money, plain and simple. Or else it's not gonna available in bad neighborhoods if ish starts going down, plain and simple.
Worked for me, Samsung 6...The first pax I checked,it wasn't there, but when I began the trip.it was...the next two times, pick up and drop off destination was under waybill...hit the clipboard in right hand corner, the same as contact/cancel screen, and the way bill is in right hand corner....It worked,I'm glad, but it won't change my acceptance, unless it's like drive 8 miles for a 1 mile trip....!!
This works for me on my Samsung S6 Edge+. I have never seen the blue icon with the "i" but i do see the clipboard when i accept a ride, and from there i can see it. :)
JOshua029 I have an M9, and no destinations are shown, and I checked about a week ago. It might have changed, I'll have to check again. By the way, HTC sucks, I'm switching back to a Galaxy.
I appreciate this, because I saw on the news a few weeks ago about an Uber driver that took a rider (a Pro NFL player) from IL to NY, because he had an emergency. I get it, it was nice of him to do it, and the cost of the trip was $600, I think and he was tipped $300, but that's when I started thinking, "How far can they request a destination? And how can I see where they want to go to make sure I'm not driving hundreds of miles because I didn't know where they were going beforehand." So, this video helps, thank you!
I use an iPhone 6+ and drive for UberX and UberASSIST in SoCal. I've tried this method on several rides now and every time it just says "To: As directed..." for the destination. Wouldn't matter for me though if it did work...unless I'm in the top three of the airport queue I accept pretty much any ride that's less than 10 minutes away.
My concern with wanting to know where a rider is going is due to the out-of-the-blue rides to Manhattan. I live in NJ, and NYC is 40 miles from me. I've been driving for Uber only for a month, but this past Sunday I had my first drop off in Manhattan. It's an 1 hr and 30 min ride just to get out of the Holland tunnel, along with $24 in tolls. The fare was $67 after uber fees, but that doesn't cover the tolls I have to pay to get back to NJ through Brooklyn and Staten Island. It was another $26 in tolls to get back along with needing to refuel after 80 miles of travel. So my actual profit was roughly $25 out of the $67 fare. Last night, I had a pickup at 8:47pm, and when I got there they were going to Manhattan with a bunch of luggage. I had to cancel because I just couldn't take them. My EZ pass was depleted and I was set to "clock out" at 10pm. It just wouldn't be time or cost efficent to drive all the way into Manhattan. So that's really the only reason why I want to know where a rider is going before hand, so I can avoid trips to NYC unless I can actually make the trip.
+Uber Man So far, it doesn't work. But I'm not sure I'm clicking the correct icon. I'll be on vacation for the next 2 weeks so I'll try it again when I come back. Thanks for all your videos! I love watching them.
I have a question. Am I allowed to travel out of my area or state to drive for Uber? For example could I travel from Pa. to Florida driving for Uber picking up passengers on the way down?
This will be great. I won't use it to cancel short rides, I'll use it to travel toward home at the end of the day. Sometimes a PAX will take me a long way from home and this way I can take rides in the direction I need to go. I've asked Uber to give us the ability to do this but they've ignored my requests. Lyft already does it with their destination filter (in some markets).
Uber Man I've been looking at the waybill on all my requests and I'm not seeing the destination, even on rides where the PAX has entered it. All it ever says is, "As directed". Bummer. Android, OC CA.
In Cincinnati we frequently get trip requests that are 10-20 and even 25 minutes away or more. A low acceptance rating will not get you banned from the app, and if this is a concern you can decline the trip. Generally speaking, I will not accept rides that are more than ten minutes away unless I'm in a rural part of our pick-up area.
UberAlly says....IF you do not want a short trip because it takes too long to get there....and UBER dispatches you anyways...CALL the client and ask them how far they are going. If its not worth your while.....explain it to them and ask them to please cancel the trip. Most clients don't have a problem with that once it is explained to them that it cost us money to take them under 3 miles if we have to drive 5 miles to go get them. Just make sure they cancel within the 5 minute timezone so they are not charged. Uber doesn't always take care of us so we are FORCED to figure out ways to watch out for numero uno...YOU! Uber on!
D Mac, you'll be deactivated, sooner or later, for this and for your attitude. I'm not an Uber shill, I have my problems with Uber, as well, but I sure as hell don't have your attitude, not that you care, as you have made it clear, you don't give a shit about people, they are nothing to you.
Hey Uber Man! This is Dago from Chicago. Thanks for the info! It does work! Im able too see rider's destinition in waybill. Also, Id like to mention that in Chicago, you're able to see passenger's rating if you're not using the "Uber Phone". Drivers have to use their own phone to see pax's ratings.
Here in Los Angeles it just says "as directed...." But what I have found is when you are taking a pool ride and it doesn't match with a rider it's most likely a far ride probably 15+ miles.
lol I was coming home after studying last week and decided to try out driving for my first time. Was trying to figure out the ubereats part but I couldn't so I figured 'eh it's about 5 o'clock. I'll try it. Maybe get someone going home or to work". When I started it I was talking to someone and we were joking about taking people to the airport (which can suck.. and is roughly 30 minutes away). I accept a ride. Go to the location and park in the drive way. It's a younger couple and the girl walks out with a suitcase. _shiiiiiiit_ Dammit I *wanted* a quick 5 mile ride. Not to the airport for my very first ride. It was okay, still. They were super nice and I'm glad they were happy with their ride.
last week i drove 2.5miles to a pickup location. It was at an IHop restaurant in Los Angeles at the corner of Western and Slauson . I waited for a while and had to call the rider. she came out and asked me to wait a little longer to pay her bill. i agreed.after about 3minutes she came out with her husband and daughter. when i start the meter their destination was unbelievably 0.1miles .Just crossing slauson and the second house. I make $2.40, spend about 15minutes. I even asked them "Do You really need a ride for this?" the lady said "because we are lazy...." may be she is right. But for me this is the shortest drop off distance? why??? because the rate is so cheap!!!
Dagne Guchyalework And you are still driving for Uber after this? fuck Uber. I quitted because I was treated the same way. Cheap people take Uber because they can't afford taxi, they take advantage of such cheap rides. drivers like you, being used. Don't let people use you. Uber is slavery. get a life. do something else. I hate Uber so much.
Dagne Guchyalework Don't contact the rider, ever, unless you are trying to clarify the pick up location. Wait five minutes, and if they don't come out, cancel, collect your $4 ( or whatever it is ) and go to the next ping. In my city, a short haul will be switched to an automatic cancellation, and you'll get the cancel fee.
my op[inion is Uber shoudl take a smaller % of the short trips cause drivers make way below minimum wage on these trtips. of couse people wnat to know how not to get them . but if peop,el can cherry pick em it means others with get screwed by them twice as much.
After poking around on the first day, I figured this out. It's pretty neat but it doesn't show up for most pickups I've had so far. (30 Trips only). It usually says "As Directed.." more often than not. Even on one trip that took me from Queens to the Bx.
Hey Uber Man. You need to make a video where Uber notifys passengers when the surge is over so they can request, what happens is as you get closer the surge refreshes so you as a driver don't get it, what I do is log off for a couple of minutes get into the area that was surging and it will refresh to a surge log on and sweep the rides on surge
Thanks UBERMAN good tip, it's probably something I'd use if I was on a lil less than a quarter tank of gas on an hour trip request and near the end of my UBER shift
+Eddy Vasquez True there! I had an unexpected request to drive 75 miles away. Since I did not know where she was going. I was "unprepared". I was running low on gas. But got there without needing to stop. Not only that, I was not able to pick up my kids and my wife. From school and work. Because the time. Knocked my schedule off a little. From this point on, I've decided to always be ready at moments notice! I am a week old BTW
Ok that was good, but what I really need is what I'm told by uber we can set destination so we will only get trips going to one direction like Home. the pic they sent is old. Thanks for all your help
I honestly don't care where they are going I only care about how much time it is going to take to get to the pax. I got a ping last week that was 35min away ya I don't think so.
I wish this worked the other day when I excepted a ride from Dover Delaware to BWI Airport!! It did say PREMIER ride though. I will try this my next ride and let you know the results! Thanks UberMan!
(gasp....fainted)....He spoke to me. You're welcome SuperMan...oops...I meant UberMan. 3 things....(your eyes/your smile/your hands) Your wife is a very fortunate lady....kudos to HER.
As an Uber passenger it has been my experience that the driver ALWAYS knows the exact destination, even before I get in the car. They usually tell me where I am going, just to confirm it.
Joe...I don't call them. I just enter my pick up point and my destination. I assume the destination shows up on the drivers phone after I plug it in my phone. To my knowledge I cannot request the trip unless I put in my destination.
As a driver, we don't see the destination until we "start the ride" in the app. That should happen once the passenger sits in the car. That's per the rules of Uber & Lyft.
Uber makes passengers believe the driver knows where they are going...however, the driver has no clue of the riders destination. Uber needs to get the boot!
Dude.. I just watched your other videos, do you think a big part of the assholes as passengers is in correlation of driving on the weekends during dark hours?
Hello! I am working the food pick up & delivery APP's. What I'm trying to see in app is where the delivery is from the restaurants to the customers drop off point! This is what gets me down. It seems as though some of my deliveries are "very, very far" out of my starting point and into COMPLETELY different zones or individual areas set up by the company, ie, DoorDash, Favor, Postmates, etc.
I have a Droid. The waybill doesn't show a destination. I've tried it before. Only way to see where you're going to is to accept the ride as soon as you arrive at pickup point. Then you can cancel and split. A friend of mine has Done this. It doesn't help your rating at all but if you don't care about that, then it's all good.
First off, I love your video's...so thank you. I just started driving last week for the RNC convention. While it was very cool getting to drive some of the out of state delegates, I had hit a huge learning curve, mostly I think because my app's kept shutting down & getting all kinds of insane pop-up's. I was almost ready to say "this isn't for me". While I can't really prove it, I think I'm missing a couple of fares. I honestly lost count & was just a bit overwhelmed with driving through neighborhoods that I would never otherwise drive because they're dangerous, as well as having a final group of 6 drunks who were just incredibly rude. Anyway...The other night I ended up dropping a couple off in a College bar district. No sooner I ended the ride, I got pinged instantly. Mind you, I'm on a road w/ bars connected to each other & on both sides of the road. When it told me I had arrived, I pulled over in front of the bar and waited for the rider. After about 8 minutes, I sent a text that I was there & described the vehicle w/ the 4 way flashers on. The guy called & started getting upset, trying to argue about which bar I should be parked in front of, but I had no idea where it was. I guess he wanted curb side service at the front door. I'll fast forward past all the details that made me want to leave or just choke him... So he puts his drunk buddy in my vehicle & starts demanding I repeat the address destination, because he no longer has it. You can try to imagine how that went. So it turns out that the guy who placed the order wasn't going for the ride. He just wanted me to take his drunk buddy home...way out in BFE where the cows roam. The signal had kept dropping like it did my first night out, so I just listened to the guys directions on where to go. At the end of the trip, almost 30 minutes later after it had finally started... I did manage to close out the trip like normal. The only problem at that point was that it never showed up in my log & I never got paid. It's as if the trip never even happened. So my question is... Did this happen because I didn't deliver the phone of the guy who placed the order to the destination, or is this just another fluke with the system? One of the reasons that I took this job was to make an effort to see the good in other people. After spending 14 hours steam cleaning & detailing my vehicle, the last 4 drunks who left potato chips, beer & a half eaten chocolate covered ice cream bar running down the side of my back seat... Well, fortunately I didn't end up on the news. Sorry for the long post, any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
sometimes there is a delay in the trip showing up on your app. If you successfully completed the trip, I'm confident that it will be on your pay statement.
Hopefully with all the recent attention this feature has received on social media and here on youtube ...uber doesnt change the system to where drivers cant see this work around any longer. Ive been using this loop hole for a few months and havent shared with many people to prevent just this.. but i knew it was a matter of time it will come to light.
Yup.. Exactly as i predicted 2 days ago.. in fact i posted on the Uber man driver network group on fb.. and its received over 70 comments since this afternoon
Know this is a long time after your post, but, the only way to know, as close as possible, is to check your rating on the app about 5 minutes (or as soon as you can) after dropping the pax off. I check my rating each morning before I start, and this same way after each rider. It helps me know fairly well who and what their rating was. Even more so, helps me pin point the yahoos who think the are ordering a limo, instead of Uberx. Mostly kids, etc. who have the NERVE to send a comment about my car "cleanliness", because the last guy left a few pieces of grass etc. on the floor mat, yet the last 4 rides gave me 5 star ratings and even tips. Just really kind of blows my whole day when some narrow minded individual does that.
I haven't been driving long, but one of the people I picked up needed to go to the airport in another city. Thankfully that day I was able to take her, but since round trip it took me just under 3 hours, I don't think I could always do this. My waybill does not show me a destination. So I guess I'm asking for advice on once the rider is picked up if I can't drive them the 3 hour trip, based on whatever situation, what do I do?
+Uber Man I'm in the same situation. I'm not always able to go so far. How should text or call the passengers asking for the destination? If I'm not able to go so far, can I cancel the trip? Can they give me bad reviews for that? What is the best thing to do? Thank you.
There is and always was a way to see the destination before you get there. Start the trip right before you get there and cancel if you don't like what you see lol
Drove 10 minutes one time to pick up a girl at a women's clinic. When I got there, it was obvious she had a procedure done. Problem was, the clinic wouldn't release her unless she had a ride. So she figured she would call an uber to drive her to her car 200 ft. away. Pissed me off because when I completed the trip, uber said trip wasn't far enough and didn't get paid. This happened when I first started driving for them. Hindsight, I should have called uber and raised hell. But then again, don't know if it would have done me any good.
Saturday I made $1.88 PER HOUR! I made $15. Uber made $22! Saturday, I put 105 miles on my car, in about 8 hours (2pm-10pm). Uber credited me with 2h 30m time, and 55 (mi). Uber gave me $70. At one point, surges were all around me but I only made it into one, for 1.4x! I had SEVEN rides for UNDER $5! So, I GROSSED $8.75/hr BEFORE expenses, which would be $55 (IRS 55¢/mi), or $6.87 per hour - netting $1.88 PER HOUR! I netted about $15. Uber kept about $22!
I have tried this many times and on the waybill sections ALWAYS says AS DIRECTED where their destination is listed. It's probably since been fixed to keep this from happening before picking up the passenger. I've only had one passenger not enter their destination.
If drivers’ ratings are at their highest status, each ride will show 1) time towards pickup, 2) drive time duration, and 3) estimated paid $$ for every ride. But if any driver’s 1) acceptance rating, 2) cancellations rating, or 3) overall score gets lowered, drivers will NOT be privy to this info.
I thought they added this so we could see if it's worth it to take the trip if I drive 20 mins and only take them a block away it's a waste of gas. Otherwise why even bother checking
My problem with why I need this is going to new orleans. My car is an 06 trail blazer, so I'm not allowed to pick people up in new orleans. However, living in metairie makes it to where everyone I pick up want to go to new orleans. So until I get a newer model car I'm expected to drive to new orleans to drop someone off but, then I have to drive all the way back to metaire roughly (11 miles) before I can even ping. Sorry this message sounds stupid its 2:04 am and I don't feel like proofreading.
thanks for all the videos you make Uber Man. i can see uber being revamped in the near future. especially if they want to keep up with competition. i can see them adding features such as...passengers destination address, the option to tip, and a lower rate requirement for drivers to have to maintain (maybe 4 stars). one can only dream right?
It'll be nice for me to know, if I do end up driving for Uber, a passenger's destination, so that I can, before I get to pick up the passenger, where I will be taking him or her. That said, it isn't inevitable I will be driving for Uber, given the expensive infrastructure required (e.g. a vehicle costing at least US$30,000 after taxes, in the case of most UberBlack vehicles).
Suggestion ..dont start if you are agai at worst case of digital slavery...today I made 47$... I started at 5:25 am and first ride I got was around 10am... when I called support the guy who.may be new gave me information that no one ever does that my car was only eligible for uber eats and disabled for passengers without any notification or my knowledge.... like idiots I was on road....I have been driving since 2016...even yesterday I had passengers... i will be looking soon for a lawyer
Has anyone else had issues when it shows surge, it blinks red in the center and after the rides you go check the price and no surge was paid. This happened to me four times yesterday. I contacted Uber and they said it did not surge. I was in a red market at 2 times, it showed surge when I accepted the ride. Uber basically cheated me out of surge for four rides. Makes me more determined to use Lyft as often as possible. Turn both on if Uber comes first, leave Lyft on, if they send a ride, cancel the Uber ride.
Uber alerts passengers when prices are surging. Passengers are then given the option to get a notification when the prices fall. If they request the trip as soon as they get the notification, your screen might still be red, but that is a time lag issue. The surge is over.
Paul McMahan Surge is not there to benefit you. Surge is a way of making you head to that area because no uber cars are available. by the time those colors show, Uber already has informed riders price is going up. they can either risk or wait. it's not worth chasing surge. if it finds you, we'll and good. several times I have been in a surging area, only to be called go pick someone outside the surging area
Ng'ash Wakabang' I Must agree with you strongly. One night ... very very late at night like 3:00 am , I was driving pretty bad and rough area with in Los Angeles... I know no one is driving that area because when I see an very strange at that time of the NIGHT and very tiny and strong surge popped out right in front of me all of sudden.... I checked with passenger app and there are no UBER Cars OBVIOUSLY IN an such an dangerous ghetto. I was thinking this is very bizarre... then one request kicked in all of sudden . I was in a x 2.1 surge and I took the request even though I could ignore it with my high acceptance rates for my safety of my life . I Ve arrived pick up location and the lady is very condescending mannered ghetto gang banger female from hell telling me to rush to her coffee bean managing job that Nation wide Black Gang group "BLOODS" took over the entire national franchise chain for financial gains. ( it's very well known facts that Notorious Gang group sending non convicts into national franchise corporations to slowly scam and steal large sum of funds for long periods of times for the Gang group expansion and for transformation into Mafia group. ) So , I ve rushed to reach her destination as she wished me to do and right after that I've got crazy bad riders report and I did not get ANY SURGE FEES. DUE TO IT WAS MANUALLY MANIPULATED BY ONE OF Gang member who has an access to main systems . I confronted with the center for almost week and got some money I deserves but that's the reality ....
if you see that fair is just a few block would it be ok to not call or text you arrive at the pick up location and wait the 5 minutes before cancelling?
Hi Randy, It works on an uber iphone, I'm letting other drivers try it with different kinds of phones. By the way keep up the good work, I'm a partner driving in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, a lot of things that Uber does in the US we now know in advance could be done over here too.
I'm on an iPhone 6 and if you click the waybill before you "start" the trip the destination ALWAYS says "as directed". My passengers almost always have the destination in there, but it doesn't show until I start the trip. Super annoying.
Hi uber man I have a question I live in Northern California and I just signed up with uber and I want to know can I wait at home for a ping if I pick up someone in Sacramento ? Will a passenger get angry if I accept the ride then go to Sacramento to pick up someone since it takes awhile to get to Sacramento
Here's something riders are doing in Jax. They request on a street with a fake house number during a surge. If it's main st for example. And there's a real address of 1234 and 1236. They enter 1235! When u accept the ride, it's shows no surge? But u see there is a surge in that area. It give you the address to a nav too. But, when u tap the area, say to contact the ride. Area that show pickup and destination. You will see that the pickup address is listed as "unknown address" I think the uber computer is confused about the riders actual location so no surge charge is applied. Happened twice to me yesterday. I cancelled both!!
ok, what if when you pick up your passenger they did NOT ENTER their destination, & they just verbally tell you where, do you enter it at that point on the UBER ap you have open on the phone? I've never had that come up so want to know before it does. Thanks!!!
It would be really helpful if uber implemented a feature where drivers could easily choose an alternative route which avoids tolls after they have begun the trip. The only reason I want to see the route before pax enters the car is so I can warn them about tolls in advance, and quickly choose a non toll route so pax doesn't have to wait for me to work out a different route. This way bad drivers wont be able to cherry pick good fares, and the honest drivers can offer a better service by easily avoiding tolls if pax wishes to do so.
Use WAZE app as default navigation. Go into Settings/Navigation. Choose Avoid Toll Roads. This may anger some riders. In Chicago it could cause delays to airports. In the upper midwest frequent tollway drivers have transponders that pay tolls automatically--bypassing the tollbooth. Uber reimburses this per trip. BTW toll for stopping at a booth are significantly higher.
I live in Melbourne, Australia so the tolls work slightly different. Generally a customer will want to take the toll road because it works out fastest and cheapest... some situations the toll road takes longer AND more expensive so I need the option to choose different route plots per situation. I tried waze and google maps, waze is easier to switch routes, I've found google is best for navigating me through busy roads with 3+ lanes so I go with that now. Google is a bit more fiddling if I want to switch routes, but I find it best overall I guess.
The problem is how to see their destination before you accept it but the damn thing goes by so fast, I don’t mind shit trips but I do t like ending up going three freeways for many miles without notice, it should say long trip or how many miles because I have to get back home after drop off as well.
How do you know if it's a long trip before you accept it? I've just done six Uber drives in my life and I accepted a trip request but wasn't looking too close at the screen. When I got to the rider and slid the 'begin trip' bar, I saw that she wanted to go to a town that was 90 miles away. I took her and the trip went smooth, but it would be nice to know, before I accept, if it is a long trip. Do you have a screen-picture of what the 'long trip warning' looks like, the one that supposedly pops up to tell you if it's a long trip, so I know what to look for next time I accept trips?
I don't have a screen cap, but it will be in the window that pops up saying you have a ride request, it's not a separate window It will say Long Trip 45+ or Long Trip 60+ edit - here is a link to a screen shot medium.com/@RickRottman/uber-now-informs-drivers-if-a-passenger-requests-a-long-trip-911659087ffb
Right, Uber Man, I've got a screenshot of it now but am not sure how to show or send it to you (if you want it)unless you had an email you use for the general public. I got it by having a friend stand next to me, order a long trip and when it's request came up on my screen I screenshotted it, then my friend cancelled the request. What comes up is a rectangular white bar, directly in the center of the screen (I'm sure you're well familiar with it, you've done many more trips than my meager 18 trips), white background with black letters that says "Long Trip (45+min)". I'll say to the newbies, who may not have yet seen one, that no one can miss it. The only reason I missed it that first time was because I was seriously daydreaming when it came up. Thanks for all your great vids, UM.
Ronnie Inabnit Can't argue that point at all!
Ronnie Inabnit I usually set a number the first 10 rides and then i go back home it usually works out great
+Luna EB Did you have my passenger from yesterday?
Ronnie Inabnit yeah dude its not cool what he said 2 u..... I accept all rides too. only way to do it
Just following up on this...I have an android ZTE and after watching this I tried it and it works. I click on the information clipboard top right and then waybill on the next page and it shows right up! Thanks for the info!
+james Dodge No problem
If you cancel rides based on the destination you are a fucking ass hole.
GLYD Studios another driver can pick them up, who will be willing to go to that destination
@@glydstudios5632 it's my car and I have the right to go wherever I want
After accepting, on upper right is a info button. This brings up a screen with your assigned phone number, the pax name, and their rating (Chicago area does not see this rating). Press waybill and you will see their pickup location, their destination if they entered it, and other trip info. So you have their destination before pickup.
Uber Man what if they are going to a bad section of town?
So if they are going to a bad section of town? Should I cancel the trip? For my safety?
***** are you saying if the pick up is in a bad section of town I should refuse the pick up or cancel once I have accepted the pick up?
***** I don't think the customer gets charged if the driver cancels for any reason. And if the customer does get charged in this situation he or she can just contact uber for refund.
***** I am also desperate for money but also value my safety too.
It works! I tried it on my Note 3 Android and as long as the pax put's in their destination it shows on the way bill. I wish I knew this 5 months ago. Glad I know now!!!
MoneyBags73 Happy to share!
I just became a new UBER driver, I'm happy. I also made my very first trip.
Welcome to the club Andrew!!
Wait til some 18 year old girl gives you one star or some drunk douchebag
just push start trip 1 block before arriving to the pick up point and then cancel it before the passenger sees you
I don't mind a block or two when I'm close. Downtown in Houston Ive strung several quick trips together with the pickups scheduled before I drop off. If it goes right, you get the min on each one for 3-4 quick trips. I.e., I had a dropoff then like a pickup 1-4 blocks away, then a few more like that.
hey uberman like the vids, uber told me that when i pick up a passenger and not comfortable with where they want to go, either to far or bad area that i was allowed to cancel on the spot, i just wasn't allowed to cancel for discriminatory reasons.
lol i dont even use uber and these videos are just so informational i cant stop watching Lol keep up the good work
I love hearing that! Thanks Quintin!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Too funny
i thank you for that .
i am Driver in new jersey
i never cancel trips
i take all the passengers
but i can cancel if something wrong in my car or when i feeling tired or when i want use the bathroom
I am glad you posted this. I'm not cleared for airport pickup yet because I don't have plates on my new car yet. I'd hate to accept and show up and the person is going to the airport and I have to say no, I can't take you and they have to start over again.
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching.
D Palmer I completely agree with you.
I'm with you brother!!! I agree.
The same thing happened to me last week. from Jersey City to Princeton it took two and a half hours to get back home.
Seeing a picture in advance gives the driver an opportunity to discriminate based on what the passenger looks like by canceling the ride on them. This has happened with other services where they require a picture. You have the passenger's name in advance so most drivers I know asks what's your name before they get into the car. That's all the verification you need.
IT DOES WORK AS U SAY I HAVE A ZTE MAX PRO I FOUND IT LAST NIGHT WITHOUT EVER SEEING ANY OF YOUR VIDS ABOUT THIS
Good deal!
I tried and it works, but only when passenger inputs their destination. Still, this is really good to know, thanks Uber Man!!!
Karl Lee You bet!
i tried what you said and it works ! i hit the waybill button and now i can see their destinations ! thanks Randy ! im not being picky i just want to make money that's all
+Alfredo Sanchez No problem! You're very welcome!
And no, I neither live nor ply my trade anywhere near the fkn state line
If you are working under a guarantee, the more short trips you can do the better Hit your quota and go home. For some reason, no pings from residence. Rinse and repeat.
+Cyric Renner (Abraxas79) Ding!!
Cyric London.Wel said .That is how i work,i totally agree with you .
Tampa market Samsung Note 3. As long as they enter the address it shows in the way bill, Thanks Randy. Ill be using this so that I can input address into a 2nd GPS (waze) as a backup GPS before I reach pax.
Jaime Nieves Glad to help!
+Denis Lara Exactly.
+Denis Lara right!
Or else it's not gonna available in bad neighborhoods if ish starts going down, plain and simple.
it actually took me to a college town with better rates so I stayed there until I was done.
Nice!
yea you are right
Will try on this latest update with my HTC one m8 and let you know m8 thanks. Great for small towns.
Wouldn't matter for me though if it did work...unless I'm in the top three of the airport queue I accept pretty much any ride that's less than 10 minutes away.
uber man...
thumbs up it works on my iphone5 no probs at all ....thanks from down under(melbourne)
That makes sense. Does it work out there?
+Uber Man So far, it doesn't work. But I'm not sure I'm clicking the correct icon. I'll be on vacation for the next 2 weeks so I'll try it again when I come back.
Thanks for all your videos! I love watching them.

Worked for me on my android last night.
Brian Gittings Great!
I have a question. Am I allowed to travel out of my area or state to drive for Uber? For example could I travel from Pa. to Florida driving for Uber picking up passengers on the way down?
Audrey Sorg: Uber & Lyft drivers only can pickup in anywhere in the State you are licensed in
This will be great.
Chuck Koos It's a great feature!
Uber Man I've been looking at the waybill on all my requests and I'm not seeing the destination, even on rides where the PAX has entered it. All it ever says is, "As directed". Bummer. Android, OC CA.
Does this method still work for seeing rider final destination?
Uber on!
I have been doing this since day one. I'm the CEO of L-Uber, Inc. and that's how I run my business.
Allison Johnson, If Uber finds out you call them, Uber will fire you.
D Mac people like you are the reason our world will crumble.
There is only one of those types you just mentioned that spend the after life in Hell. Can you guess which one?
Dago SellaresTuckler Thanks for commenting, and for watching!
It’s not a matter of good Uber drivers vs bad, sometimes I only have a few minutes of free time to drive and I can’t get trapped in a long trip
Yup same issue. You have an appointment in 2 hours and you get a trip that's 90 miles but is 3 hours one way due to traffic and then what?
Here in Los Angeles it just says "as directed...." But what I have found is when you are taking a pool ride and it doesn't match with a rider it's most likely a far ride probably 15+ miles.
Thanks for sharing that.
lol I was coming home after studying last week and decided to try out driving for my first time.
_shiiiiiiit_
Dammit I *wanted* a quick 5 mile ride.
I even asked them "Do You really need a ride for this?"
the lady said "because we are lazy...."
may be she is right.
But for me this is the shortest drop off distance?
why???
because the rate is so cheap!!!
+Dagne Guchyalework Wow. Maybe so. That sucks though. I'm sorry.
Dagne Guchyalework it should be $10 minimum, so such riders will think twice.
Thanks for the tip! I'm in Austin using a iPhone 5, I'll follow up if it works for me tonight...
***** Thank you!
...No dice in Austin using the Waybill on my iPhone5
After poking around on the first day, I figured this out. It's pretty neat but it doesn't show up for most pickups I've had so far. (30 Trips only). It usually says "As Directed.." more often than not. Even on one trip that took me from Queens to the Bx.
Teesh Lallipop They patched it :(
Doesn't show anymore so far as I've seen over this weekend.
yeah you anticipate see it no more, they hid it cuz ppl found out probably some drivers spiked in cancellations.
I am planning on driving for uber when I get a car and your videos are great
Buy Prius Hybrid, no 1 car for uber or lyft
Ubering in San Diego , Monday to Thursday DOES NOT EVEN COVER GAS COSTS.
thats cause your a dump ass hahaha fucken idiot got clock i. for minimum wage idiot
yes this does work I have used it for a long time. My phone is an Android Samsung Note 3.
+HYELLETS Thanks!
Good idea. I'll try to do one like this in the future. Thanks.
Thanks UBERMAN good tip, it's probably something I'd use if I was on a lil less than a quarter tank of gas on an hour trip request and near the end of my UBER shift
+Eddy Vasquez No problem, and thank you for watching.
What is the question?
I honestly don't care where they are going I only care about how much time it is going to take to get to the pax. I got a ping last week that was 35min away ya I don't think so.
Chris Kelly84 Me either!! LOL.. Nope!
I wish this worked the other day when I excepted a ride from Dover Delaware to BWI Airport!! It did say PREMIER ride though.
I will try this my next ride and let you know the results! Thanks UberMan!
Uber man always looking forward to watching ur new and old videos
It worked for me, I have a S7. Just like you said.
(gasp....fainted)....He spoke to me. You're welcome SuperMan...oops...I meant UberMan. 3 things....(your eyes/your smile/your hands) Your wife is a very fortunate lady....kudos to HER.
I'm fortunate to have her. She is very special to me. Thanks a million.
Always supporting ur channel!!!!!!!!!
uber man. can you explain little bit
a bout uber black. does it worth it?
+andy baker If you have thousands to invest in a brand new black luxury car, TNC license, commercial insurance, and any other requirements, yeah!
As an Uber passenger it has been my experience that the driver ALWAYS knows the exact destination, even before I get in the car. They usually tell me where I am going, just to confirm it.
I have the same experience. I enter the destination before I request the trip.
This should only be used to be able to input in the nav system in the drivers car. No problem.
+George Smith Agreed
I want to be to see the designation before I accept the ping can that happen?
I hope this works for me (my phone is an android). I’m driving in Las Vegas and we ARE NOT allowed to go to the airport. Thanks for the info.
+MrBruceSinclair No problem. Thanks for watching.
This works for me on my Android in Sacramento - CA market
+Albert Shevchuk Nice!
Dude.. I just watched your other videos, do you think a big part of the assholes as passengers is in correlation of driving on the weekends during dark hours?
Wayne Harman Yes, I do.
Works in oc ca im on a android. Keep up the good work Randy.
R R Good news! Thank you!
Love your videos, new to Uber , and you made it easy to just accept a ping! My first night was New Years Eve!
Happy New Year! I'm glad I was able to help you get going! How did you make out NYE?
Ohh Uber Man, I hope you aren't smokin that ganj before you take on those passengers
How much did you smoke before this video?
Thanks for the question / comment. This happens a LOT!! It will show up, as I'm sure it has by now.
Thank you both. It did finally show up last night when I checked. There was also a "no show" fee that took a few days to pop up also.
it says to be determined, no matter what
Depends on market.
yes, that's what I get as well. To be determined.
I get as directed.
Hopefully with all the recent attention this feature has received on social media and here on youtube ...uber doesnt change the system to where drivers cant see this work around any longer. Ive been using this loop hole for a few months and havent shared with many people to prevent just this.. but i knew it was a matter of time it will come to light.
Mistah Root If you don't already know by now, its been patch.
Yup.. Exactly as i predicted 2 days ago.. in fact i posted on the Uber man driver network group on fb.. and its received over 70 comments since this afternoon
***** I'm glad it's gone. No offense. Too many were using it to cheat the system. For me, it doesn't matter.
Uber Man agreed!
hey Uber man thanks bro your information is absolutely useful ? do you have any idea how may know which riders rates us law thanks? ???
Thank you. There is no way to know which riders rate us low.
+Tanja Stein You simply tell them you can not drive them that long, and they should request another Uber.
I agree with Ronnie! I don't pick and choose. I'm a driver.job is to get people there ... Near or far.
Im using an S8+ on my waybill it just said "as directed" now I'm not sure if the passenger have not put the destination yet.
The clinic should be responsible to pay for it but then what do you expect from baby killers
It still works in some areas. For the most part, it has been patched.
You're fine! I guess for now, that's how it has to be. :( Sorry.
Oh well I'm getting a newer car in a couple of days. But what a waste of gas and time.
thanks for all the videos you make Uber Man. i can see uber being revamped in the near future. especially if they want to keep up with competition. i can see them adding features such as...passengers destination address, the option to tip, and a lower rate requirement for drivers to have to maintain (maybe 4 stars). one can only dream right?
imreal forever Please, continue to dream! Dreams are what got us where we are today my friend!
Suggestion
..dont start if you are agai at worst case of digital slavery...today I made 47$...
Not related but here goes where can I get those plastic signs with suction cup for free?
It happened to me yesterday I did 2 rides on a red zone and I didn't see any surge payments on my pay:(
tell UBER support about it .they will fix it
Paul McMahan Surge is not there to benefit you.
+TheATGarcia No, that is not ok.
+Uber Man thanks good to know.
Hi Randy,
It works on an uber iphone, I'm letting other drivers try it with different kinds of phones.
By the way keep up the good work, I'm a partner driving in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, a lot of things that Uber does in the US we now know in advance could be done over here too.
Amer Bouadi Great!!! Thank you!!
I'm on an iPhone 6 and if you click the waybill before you "start" the trip the destination ALWAYS says "as directed". My passengers almost always have the destination in there, but it doesn't show until I start the trip. Super annoying.
Uber has been working to "patch" it so we can't see.
+blueeyed vroom You get whatever Uber sends your way, but sure you can.
As of this year for Conmercial accounts, the waybill says to be directed or something similar for android
ok, what if when you pick up your passenger they did NOT ENTER their destination, & they just verbally tell you where, do you enter it at that point on the UBER ap you have open on the phone? I've never had that come up so want to know before it does. Thanks!!!
+Shane Jones Yes, enter it in to the app. Just type the name, it will come up.
I knew about this but it will only show if the passenger puts in the information.. I've got the ZTE Axon 7
question: how is the Uber directional requester working for you, I'm in NY it doesn't help too much
do u have to go into way bill before u accept? will have to be fast
I don't have a screen cap, but it will be in the window that pops up saying you have a ride request, it's not a separate window
It will say Long Trip 45+ or Long Trip 60+
edit - here is a link to a screen shot

Thanks for all your great vids, UM.
i have the iphone 6plus and it does work
+Kathi Derseweh Nice!!
