Awesome My friend ! I started with a 2007 BMW 550 ( still have it ) , and I quickly realized the business aspects of doing ridesharing. So I got myself 2009 Mercedes Benz GL450 black and boom , my income is up ( heavy XL demand on weekend) , my tips are up and yes my ratings keep going up each week . 4.93 as of today. Thank you sir............
Fabian Jaime The straight answer to your question is NO . And that is because Uber XL is only for the extra space. ( family , business groups with couple of luggages, and mostly college students going out to party on weekends ) With that being said, 4 to 5 XL jobs depending on the distance can earn you well over $200 in a given day . And I must also add that every market is different. So you might want to study your market before making that investment. Here in my Boston market , UBER is allowed to pick up at the Airport and since then demand for ride is all time high , and demand for XL has also gone up. I hope this help !
The Rideshare Professor Torsten is such an inspiration! I’ve spent thousands of dollars to get a business education and been to tons of weekend seminars and Torsten has them all beat. He is extremely smart and thorough in his scope of the industry. He is innovative and a very out of the box big thinker! Hats off to him!
Thank You so much for being on TH-cam Rideshare Professor!! Your two phone trick was my first video of yours and this 20 points video is my second video of yours...Now Subscribed!! I'm an UberX/UberPOOL driver in Chicago. And you are right, even on some days when the motivation isn't there, still go out and drive (you don't want to lose money sitting on your ars watching tv and getting fat when you could be sitting in a car and making money). One Sunday at midnight it felt kinda late, but I ended up coming home with a little over $100. And yes even though I didn't feel like driving that night, a simple smile hello/good-bye and rider courtesy still maintained my ratings and earnings. So yes laziness, sorry excuses, and false anxieties, will cause a driver to lose money! I drive longer now, now that I have a seat cushion (more time on the road means more money). That in itself is a guarantee that you will make more money..A God damn seat cushion was all it took.. How embarrassing, but yeah banking in more money than ever now. Thank You for being our rideshare mentor. You have a heart of gold!! -Art Chotipradit Uber Driver Chicago
Your videos motivated me to go 100 in the industry. As a female, I’ve loved this industry so much. Hope to meet you some time in the near future. All my best!
So good to hear such positivism compared to so many other Uber videos. Thanks for that Proff. If all goes well I'll be picking up my first ride by the end of this week.
How refreshing to hear how articulate you are. These tips are explained very well, and the business card is essential. Great and helpful - thank you for sharing!
I stumbled upon your channel accidentally or ironically I have sort of the same plan I was wanting to drive for Uber and Lyft and learn about the way that works I've always worked for myself and I thought of learning the transportation of people I have a background of tractor trailers and stuff of that sort but that's exactly what I had in mind is what you're doing in the near future thank you so much for your videos very helpful I hope you continue to do well thanks again
I'm a newby any tips on navigation and apartments? This seems to be my biggest issue with driving. Thanks for the great information and support. We appreciate YOU!
I have social anxiety and I got approved last Monday and here it is Friday and still haven't done my first ride grrrr I'm doing it tonight though! Just washed and waxed the exterior of my jeep and I'm doing the inside as soon as I'm off work!
it's going good actually, I still have only done about 8 rides but Uber is a secondary income that gets deposited in my savings, I still haven't hit it really hard like all day but it's in the schedule to do I just got put on anti anxiety meds so I'm hoping once it gets kicked in I'll drive more but as of now I'm keeping it really light.
Thank you very much for your value information, i do appreciate. Been driving only for two days... I'm excited and looking forward to practice your subsection, have a great day.
every word is spot on!! made great money on the early flights to the airport. Hang tight for a few hours after the bar crowds go home and the other drivers have called it a night. Surge can pop up with early flights.
I am a fairly new driver. I find a lot of people take uberPOOL, but only pick it because it's cheaper. To the comment about uberPool ratings going down. I think not all riders understand how pool works. I've had people asking me why it's taking too long to arrive at their destination. Uber should explain to riders that they are dropped off in the order they are picked up. Great list of 20 proven ways to make more money with uber and lyft.
thx for the 20points...when I can i will take your courses. 2nd time getting back into rideshare. I made so many mistakes the 1st time. Ready to roll for real...lets just say anxiety. :)
In short time you've become my favorite ride share specialist here on TH-cam. You and I think a lot a like. I just wish I was a bit younger to think as big as you. I'm currently jumping through the hoops to secure a ride share driving position in Las Vegas. Two roadblocks right now are: securing a birth certificate so I can acquire a Nevada driver's license (you wouldn't believe the hassle!); AND procuring a car as my 2005 Ford Taurus doesn't qualify. My best friend in San Diego is willing to help, but I sometimes wonder if I should consider southern California as a better option? Thank you for all your contributions. I'd absolutely love to meet you some day soon or at least talk!
I am waiting for my Pro driver license, wich is needed to drive for UBER here in Brazil. In the meed time, I'm learning a lot from you, Sir. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Just watched this video last week and I was already doing most of what your talking about when it comes to hospitality when I picked up and dropped off the rider. I added one recommendation you made in this video and I went from struggling to make 1k per week to making 1.7k with a Ford Fusion Hybrid. And I know I can make more! And I do have a 4.95 rating on Uber. Thanks for putting this information out there.
Your message made my Sunday, these type of replies to my videos is what keeps me motivated. I appreciate you my friend and I am super happy for you. Excellent results Shawn. Happy St. Patrick's Day
+Rideshare professor Thank you so much. Very straightforward video & information. I do not drive but I am trying to help my sister to become a driver with Lyft. Very new to this. I'm going to refer her to You, hopefully she can gain all the necessary knowledge before beginning.
@@AskTorsten -- Hi Torsten, The part you said about UberX pax DO TIP, is ABSOLUTELY true !! If you give the pax a reason to place value on WHY they should tip you [opening their doors, immaculate clean car, greeting them at their door and opening an umbrella for them on rainy days. . . yes I do it even for men, offering amenities, pleasant conversation, S M I L I N G !!!!!! :D :D and GREETING/WELCOMING them. . . THIS IS SOOOOOOO IMPORTANT (not shouting, just emphasizing). On more than one occasion, I've been tipped in excess of 50% on a ride. *****IE I had a pax that got into my car and apologize to me for the short trip. It was about 1 mile. She had groceries. I replied "Please Stephanie, you don't have to apologize. I drive for 1 mile or 100 miles. And please have a water or a chocolate on the way" ....Stephanie replied "but it's only a short trip"....I replied "Stephanie, c'mon okay, you're just as important to me as an airport trip. . . take one ***SMILING***" She was blown away and accepted. After she got out she was smiling from ear to ear when I brought her groceries to her apartment building front entrance. . . . 5 minutes later I check the daily trips in my app for that trip, and what I saw blew me away. The trip was about $3.85. . . she gave me a $4.00 TIP !!!!!! Stephanie tipped me MORE than the cost of the ride itself !!! ****Yesterday I picked up a gentleman at a nice hotel for a long trip [bout 25 miles] to the airport. He was from Virginia here in Ottawa Canada on business. Had a great chat. He was blown away at all the amenities I had to offer. My car was SUPER CLEAN inside. We were headed to airport during rush hour traffic so I offered an alt route to avoid going the suggested route. When he said "You're the boss Mike, I trust your judgment. I leave it up to you" I knew I had Bruce's trust. That's a high compliment coming from an executive. At the end of the trip, I popped the trunk, opened his door, got his carryon bag from the trunk and pulled out the tote handle for him. We exchanged goodbyes and I gently reminded him if he had a good trip, to please leave a rating and comment, to which he replied "Way ahead of you Mike, and I also left something for you as well. Take care and Have a great weekend and THANK YOU". . . . and off he went. After I was able to pull over to the side, I pulled up his trip details and what I saw blew me away Torsten. . . The trip was $26.51 . . . . and he gave me a $10.01 tip !!! That amounts to a 38% tip. That's an amazing tip when you consider the standard tip here is 10-15% of the fare. His comment he left in my BIO was awesome as well. Check it out; "Excellent discussion and amazing ride. Has every convenience known" Torsten you have yourself a loyal subscriber here from now on. You don't bVLL$h!T, and you are always happy to help anyone, even strangers. YOU DA M A N !!!!! Sincerely, Mike oh, you can IG me @UBRCANUCK if you want to send me a follow my friend. I am from the Jersey Shore and have been driving for two weeks and am still trying to get the swing of it. Your help is invaluable! If anyone has any tips please let me know! If you have any questions please let me know as well.
Excellent information my friend as always. I've watched all your videos and I've taken your advice and I am currently trying to establish myself in my area as the Ambassador for Rideshare industry in North Carolina. Thank you for fantastic inspiration Torsten
I was willing to work 100 hours a week, but like you said, why do that when you can make the money doing less? I am a small business owner, I am not making money with it yet as I am new, but I do understand thinking like an entrepreneur. So it all makes sense.
i appreciate you. The thought to start a limo company never occurred to me. i have more questions but i will work on the info you provided first and follow up with you when i have done what you have suggested thus far. Thank you so much for posting:) You are awesome ###!###!!!!#
Michael Rivers you are welcome to text me anytime 4803936318. yes, your car is your business, so maximize all angles. private clients pay well and create repeat income
Rideshare Professor you made an awesome video I'm a first time viewer. Speaking of private limo companies in my market which is San Francisco, I see a lot of suvs have a tcp number on their bumpers. Are you familiar with this?
Erik Gonzalez yes absolutely, i get my TCP numbers through www.BusinessRocket.net . you can also operate your own private limo and operatevin Uber Suv, Uber Black and Lyft Plus and Lyft Premier
Rideshare Professor wow I always wondered about this I guess business. I seen your video, I just love the great detailed info, thank you for responding so fast. I'll have to research further to see if it's worth purchasing a good used or new SUV.
Rideshare Professor thanks buddy 41hrs I'm doing half of what you say and it's work 100% percent I will be perfect for this it's amazing the people you get in contact with that's the price ticket
Love your advice and channel. Getting ready to drive locally here in Guam for a company called Stroll. They're taking a 30% cut of the rate. Is that normal, above or below what should be customary for a middle man service?
Good advice thanks. My question is: Can uberX drivers also participate in working independently away from the rideshare companies and if so how much would you recommend we should charge?
Thanks Torsten :-) planning on watching this again.....several times! I'm a Uber/Lyft Driver in Stillwater, OK....... love Ride-share :-) May i ask what is the best way to work between Uber/Lyft App' at the same time ? so to help Rider's in Q.....waiting a minute while im dropping off a Rider to their destination? The best way :-) so the Rider is sure to be helped with the utmost courtesy
Hi Professor. Great video, thx. Am seriously interested in implementing point 17 in the U.K. Not sure how to start/ and obtain cars etc. Are there any videos & material you can refer me to?
Another well done, highly informative video Torsten! I look forward to watching your videos whenever they pop up on TH-cam. I just wish you had more information about MY market, Metro Detroit , lol
Big Jay Dara, the true gems are the subscribers, the drivers in this channel. We share together, we grow together and I am blessed to have you part of TH-cam channel. You guys bring me the motivation and tons of fun. Together we march into 2018. One day I will make a nice long video. Thanks to great parents I was able to work together with remarkable people who still today make a difference in this world. They certainly have their priorities straight....and we can learn from them. Stay in touch and keep sharing...I promise to keep reporting, wherever the journey or Universe takes us. God Bless Brother
Thank you sir I’m thinking of buying a new suv and only working on Friday and Saturday do you think this is worth the time it’s just part time is all I’m after thanks for the information have a great day
if you need the SUV and can use it for weekend work great, but please check in with your local Uber Hub and make sure they allow SUVs as that category is often closed. They will allow you to put an SUV in XL, but that may not warrant the investment. email me more details torstenkunert68@gmail.com. Happy Sunday
You mentioned being the closest car in order to get repeat business. UberMan is indicating the Uber has changed its algorithm to match highly rated drivers with highly rated passengers. What are your thoughts about this and if you agree it's accurate that Uber has changed the algorithm, how do you suggest people go about getting repeat business now that your proposed tactic is not guaranteed to work?
Thank you for helping and giving us advise on how to earn. And I total understand the ill start tomorrow fear you were talking about and just hearing that out hers feel that way in the beginning too makes me feel so much better
Hi, just turn a year driving for Uber and few month for Lyft, I work out of LAx as my Home base. My question is how can I improve to a suv/Black from my 2016 Kia Soul?? Thank you
Hi there .. I really want to start uber , but I dont know what percentage IRS charges you for taxes ? Or how much money of every pay week do you recommend us to save ? Thank you God bless
Looking to start doing this full- can you give me any advice on living near small towns or big cities. Looking to move in about 6 to 7 months trying to decide where to move to. Omaha Nebraska or Oregon also should I get started in the area I'm at now and how easy is it to transfer
Torsten.....there was a concert in my area and prices were surging.....I accepted a trip, but Uber advised I did not receive the surge pricing because the rider did not accept the surge rate. Have you ever heard of that? Thank him for your time.
Leslie Jones that does not sound right. The passenger probably wrote to Uber and said he didn't accept and Uber took his word. You should demand full payment
Hi, Rideshare Professor. Thanks for the tips about eucalyptus. I found it sold out a lot of places, but eventually found some, and now I'll put 3-5 drops on 2 cottonballs and stick one in my left and right vents. Smells fantastic and my riders have expressed their approval and there is a very noticeable change in the vibe combining this with my Celtic/Spa/Meditation music I play softly, creating a relaxed spa like experience for my clients. Customer service and care combined with a clean and uncluttered vehicle have me generating great numbers consistently, and also have riders wanting my number for repeat business while many in my area complain about making half of what I generate on a daily basis. Thanks for your advice, from me and my crew cab truck. Do you have Facebook/email? Would love to connect with you.
I pride myself on giving 5-star rides, but I recently checked my ratings and found that I have 5 people who rated me a 1 star. Really? I'm driving a very clean Lincoln MKZ. I keep a vacuum and cleaning supplies in the trunk so that I can keep it clean all the time. I am a people person so conversation is always good. I always dress to impress. I'm polite and respectful. I just don't get how someone can rate a good driver with a poor mark when he/she gives 5-star service. What am I missing? I'm always open to criticism. I want to be the best driver on the road!
I have seen it happen!! Rider hits the rating star bar to give you a 5 star, but hits anywhere on the stars. Hits the 2 star, thinking they are giving a 5 star. It goes away immediately, bam you just got a 2 star rating. Wish Uber would change how this works.
Excellent news
Zack is uberxl busy like uberX?
Fabian Jaime The straight answer to your question is NO . And that is because Uber XL is only for the extra space. ( family , business groups with couple of luggages, and mostly college students going out to party on weekends )
With that being said, 4 to 5 XL jobs depending on the distance can earn you well over $200 in a given day . And I must also add that every market is different. So you might want to study your market before making that investment.
Here in my Boston market , UBER is allowed to pick up at the Airport and since then demand for ride is all time high , and demand for XL has also gone up. I hope this help !
Yes it did thanks for replying
how do you research the market to see if XL is worth it? I'm in Tampa

Rideshare Professor wow I always wondered about this I guess business. I seen your video, I just love the great detailed info, thank you for responding so fast. I'll have to research further to see if it's worth purchasing a good used or new SUV.
Thank you Sir and Guru!
Thanks for the video much love and support 😎. I'm now in a Chrysler 300 do you think it's work driving or should I stick with uberX?
what categories will they allow you to work in ? Are you doing Uber and Lyft?
Dude I just made 707$$ my fist week my 5 ⭐️ rating is at 93% i got about 74 trips
Boosted How super proud of you, that is excellent news. Rocking it. How many hours dod you clock? Congrats, great start.
Rideshare Professor thanks buddy 41hrs I'm doing half of what you say and it's work 100% percent I will be perfect for this it's amazing the people you get in contact with that's the price ticket
I did $688 my first week. Only 29.5 hours. Love doing this
Thank you so much! The information you give is 1st class.
This is my first week driving w lyft, thank you so much for your advice! I'm going to take one of the courses you offer, is the code still the same?
yes indeed, thank you, drive safe
Very Good Business Sense and great marketing tips and practices.
Thanks Professor. Great knowledge, will be going to driving school sight for in-depth information.
Thank you my friend. Text me anytime
Love your advice and channel. Getting ready to drive locally here in Guam for a company called Stroll. They're taking a 30% cut of the rate. Is that normal, above or below what should be customary for a middle man service?
Indianapolis we make $0.60 a mile and we never have any kind of promotions like you're talking about!
That's not cool, they should be taking care of your market equally
Good advice thanks. My question is: Can uberX drivers also participate in working independently away from the rideshare companies and if so how much would you recommend we should charge?
Hey getting ready to start thank for videos
You got this!
Thank you so much! Really great tips! : )
You are indeed a pro... So much to learn from you, thx a lot!!!

Thanks for your info your a blessing.
what should I sign up for? select, xl? have a 17 Lexus es 350. nice video. gonna try it.
Darnella Wilson co is a good category. Check with your Uber hub as to how many categories they will place your vehicle in
Very helpful!! Thanks for your input!! Greatly appreciate it!!
Where do you recommend I go to get one of those auction cars. Which repo lot?
Thank you sir I’m thinking of buying a new suv and only working on Friday and Saturday do you think this is worth the time it’s just part time is all I’m after thanks for the information have a great day
if you need the SUV and can use it for weekend work great, but please check in with your local Uber Hub and make sure they allow SUVs as that category is often closed. They will allow you to put an SUV in XL, but that may not warrant the investment. email me more details torstenkunert68@gmail.com. Happy Sunday
Thank you very much, God speed
You mentioned being the closest car in order to get repeat business. UberMan is indicating the Uber has changed its algorithm to match highly rated drivers with highly rated passengers. What are your thoughts about this and if you agree it's accurate that Uber has changed the algorithm, how do you suggest people go about getting repeat business now that your proposed tactic is not guaranteed to work?
It is working just fine for me, no complaints on my end. Uber is constantly changing things up. By next month this is old news.
We don't have that Uber rewards here in Arkansas unfortunately but great tips for your drivers out there.
Thank you for helping and giving us advise on how to earn. And I total understand the ill start tomorrow fear you were talking about and just hearing that out hers feel that way in the beginning too makes me feel so much better
Laura Correll excellent, thank you for sharing. Reach out any time you have a question
Awesome video..Thanks for sharing these informations Sir. 2 thumbs up!
He is so right.
Mafia accent.....wish i got that too😆
Hi, just turn a year driving for Uber and few month for Lyft, I work out of LAx as my Home base.
My question is how can I improve to a suv/Black from my 2016 Kia Soul??
Thank you
Think you very much ! It's really helpful ! :)))
Thank you! Rideshare Professor.
Hi there .. I really want to start uber , but I dont know what percentage IRS charges you for taxes ? Or how much money of every pay week do you recommend us to save ? Thank you God bless
I set aside 30% but usually get most of that back through a good accountant
Amazing great tips, just started driving really loved your info
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your advise. May God bless you
Has anyone driven for Lyft lux or Uber Select? What was your experience? Worth it? Planning on buying a Lincoln MKZ hybrid soon.
how do I figure out what time and day to drive to hit surges. Richmond VA
I’m driving for Uber for two weeks now here in Illinois, how do I make more money? I don’t want to drive in Chicago city.
Thanks so much for video! 👌😊
I have got select trips, I didn't even know what that was.
I still don't know what that means.
But i have done those select runs.
means your rating is good and your car is nicer than the average uber car.. you get paid a little more for select trips
Looking to start doing this full- can you give me any advice on living near small towns or big cities. Looking to move in about 6 to 7 months trying to decide where to move to. Omaha Nebraska or Oregon also should I get started in the area I'm at now and how easy is it to transfer
I have a 2015 Buick enclave, is that a good vehicle to start with?
👍
LOL Not driving that car. Depreciation and expenses put all Uber drivers in the Red. There is a reason why cab companies charge what they do.
Thank you
Torsten.....there was a concert in my area and prices were surging.....I accepted a trip, but Uber advised I did not receive the surge pricing because the rider did not accept the surge rate. Have you ever heard of that? Thank him for your time.
Leslie Jones that does not sound right. The passenger probably wrote to Uber and said he didn't accept and Uber took his word. You should demand full payment
can I text you a screen shot from uber....so you can review it
Hi, Rideshare Professor.
Would love to connect with you.
hello, can you suggest a Mix or CD of the music to play in the car? thank you
great idea, mahalo nui
I pride myself on giving 5-star rides, but I recently checked my ratings and found that I have 5 people who rated me a 1 star. Really? I'm driving a very clean Lincoln MKZ. I keep a vacuum and cleaning supplies in the trunk so that I can keep it clean all the time. I am a people person so conversation is always good. I always dress to impress. I'm polite and respectful. I just don't get how someone can rate a good driver with a poor mark when he/she gives 5-star service. What am I missing? I'm always open to criticism. I want to be the best driver on the road!
Sometimes people click 1 star by mistake and don't even realize it.
I have seen it happen!! Rider hits the rating star bar to give you a 5 star, but hits anywhere on the stars. Hits the 2 star, thinking they are giving a 5 star. It goes away immediately, bam you just got a 2 star rating. Wish Uber would change how this works.
