I’m 5 days in and there’s still a lot pain around the incision area but emotionally I’m ok and hopefully for total recovery soon. Thanks to all the brave women sharing their experiences here. I feel strong and hopeful.❤
I’m 7 weeks past surgery and doing great. The story ended well, though with a surprise. After all pathology work was done, not only did I have uterine cancer but also fallopian cancer that was undiagnosed until surgery and pathology work. Ovaries and lymph nodes were clear. Usually fallopian cancers are not detected until stage 3 or 4 when it’s really serious. I am extremely blessed by God to have found the cancers early and surgery was all that was needed. I also am working with a great hormone doctor that is very supportive of resuming HRT therapy post cancer in the proper balance and with close monitoring. Life is good!
@@r-jproductions1343 We knew about the uterine cancer through pathology tests from earlier attempted D&C, but the fallopian cancer was not detected until surgery.
@@karenfarrand5188 so glad you’re doing well! I’m day 11 postop. Stage 1b, but I think my doctor is still pushing for radiation. Not sure what I’ll do. Postop appointment isn’t for 2 more weeks. Continued health to you!
I just feel incredibly lucky and so grateful after reading all the comments... It's been a week now since total laparoscopic hysterectomy. I stopped painkillers on day 4 and started driving and running errands on day 5. Wishing everyone could be as blessed as I was.
I am almost 2 weeks post-op, radical hysterectomy with cervix, uterus, both fallopian tubes, and 1 ovary removed. I am still having achy, bad cramp pain in my bellybutton and below, with sporadic sharp pains! I find it very hard to even sit. I had my surgery laprascopic and everything removed vaginally. Thank you for your videos and to all the warriors who are sharing their stories. Many in my life don't understand how serious ofva surgery this was and how painful it can be for some of us. I was feeling so frustrated because I am still in pain, until I came here. So, I will try to allow my healing process to happen and feel less scared. I always feel like my lower abdominal and pelvic muscles are tight and always engaged. So thank you for explaining everything ❤️ means do much.
Had my TAH BSO on June 22,epidural failed and I had to be put to sleep, wore compression stockings during surgery because a blood clotting disorder and multiple issues from lupus SLE, fibromyalgia has made it worse. I blacked out the day after surgery and had fainting spells the Friday, blood work was good so I was discharged. I go for weekly dressing at the hospital. They reported thus Tuesday that the incision not healing well as my abdomen is too large and covers the wound, so it's very inflamed. Wasn't advised on any exercise methods for healing . The typical no shower etc . Thanks for your resource. It's helpful. Happy healing and recovery ladies 🎉😊
One week post total hysterectomy, and my spasms are still absolutely insane. I know it's early yet, and my doctor has given me 6 weeks before she wants me to get back to the gym, but this chat has been comforting. Thanks for sharing.
@MakeUPbyKiani definitely listen to your body! I found out I was having bladder infections and they were bad. But, because I had no more oversized uterus pushing on my bladder, and surgery causes nerve damage, I didn't feel like I was having them. My nerves finally are healed or repaired, so I can feel more. I still run risks of bladder infections, but I hope that these videos will help avoid another surgery
I had mine 10 days ago and haven't felt any pain yet. I was cooking and cleaning right after coming home from hospital. I did Have aches from constipation
I'm also 2 days post op and my abdomen is so swollen, are you swollen at all? How's your pain. I made the mistake of not taking any meds in the middle of the night like waking up for Tylenol or ibuprofen I'm in so much pain this morning I had to take some of the prescription pain meds. Prayers you continue to heal❤
It’s been 7 days after i had my robotic hysterectomy. I had my fallopian tubes and uterus removed I feel fine i took shower after 2 days, making my own breakfast . 🥰
I got out of bed the morning after surgery, made my bed, and took out my own catheter 😂 (I’m an RN and stayed on the floor where I work, so my nurse handed me the syringe and asked if I wanted to do it myself). I took Motrin for discomfort (pressure), but no narcotics.
It's also taking longer for me. I also had severe endometriosis and my gynecologist didn't even diagnose this, it was discovered by the doctor that operated on me 😪😔 she it was everywhere. Anyway, get well soon everybody!
I’m on day 5 after total hysterectomy done via robotics. Still waiting on labs for endometrial cancer diagnosis and whether it was fully contained and removed with surgery. I am feeling much better than expected but still very emotional. Praying we caught the cancer early.
I’m in the exact same circumstances now. I’m definitely having radiation as a preventative measure but can’t wait to hear the exact outcome. I hope all was well with you!
Thank you for reassuring that the 6 weeks isn't enough for MANY! I'm 2 months after and I started feeling disappointed I still feel so much discomfort and pain because I hoped I could start exercise for core muscles and pelvic floor soon. my doctor told me no exercise for another 2 months. Just walking a lot. Im going to follow your advice on deep BREATHING. I feel there's a lot of stress and trauma after the surgery to be released ( even my gut was traumatised for over a month, it shut down, and though now it started working it's making noises and feels discomfort even after drinking green tea). Thank you for sharing❤
Total is 1 week post op, robotic with laparoscopic removed vaginally. Cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes and both ovaries all gone. I’m achy in my abdomen, better each day, and feel empty there. I’ve been able to walk 30 mins once daily since day 4 post op. Fatigued more at night, sleeping 8-10 hrs, but each night sleeping on side with pillow support feels better. So thankful for the content.
I am also but since every one has a different experience I have stopped watching videos and am now getting hypnosis sessions so that my recovery can be a positive experience and I heal well.
I’m post menopausal for over twenty years. I’m 70 and started spotting about a year ago. Finally went to gynecologist for ultrasound. I had a very small cancerous polyp with small pus around it. I couldn’t understand why they wanted to take everything out.. uterus, tubes, ovaries and 10 lymph. I had never had surgery before. I had anesthesia for the ultrasound and for surgery. In the recovery, ask if I was awake, I started speaking in tongues(Holy Spirit.. gift.. comforter) and asked 3 of them if they were saved. My surgery was Feb 28. It’s been a little over 8 weeks now and went for my post visit on 16th of April. Dr said a little slower healing. Take it easy 2-3 more weeks. I would say to anyone that might read this comment, be sure and visit your dr if you have something unusual going on. Praise the Lord I don’t have any further treatment except dr checkups, but had I gone a year ago, I probably would not have had to go through the surgery. God bless!
They take it all out because cancer jumps and if they only take the uterus where the polyp developed and cancer cells were found... there is a risk that the cancer jumps to the cervix or ovaries. I am having a full hysterectomy for the this very reason. Taking it all out also means no chemo is needed.
I’m 68 and I had a total hysterectomy through my belly when I was 26 years old. I had severe endometriosis. No one ever told me about any exercise. But I’ve always done kegel exercises without anyone telling me but I would not do them that frequent. I started having problems with my bladder. And years ago I had a bladder lift and didn’t want to go there again. Thank you for sharing this information I thought I was the only one going through this. ❤
So happy I found you. Had a full hysterectomy 12 weeks ago. Waited 12 weeks for intercourse severe pain immediately after not during. Sorry for TMI but I ended up in the emergency room with severe stabbing pain. Now they’re telling me I need to see a physical therapist to work on my pelvic area. Why are doctors not telling their patients this??! 😢 So happy I found you wish I found you earlier. Thanks for all the great information. 💓
I cry over your situation. They (the medical profession) don't tell people the simplest, most basic things. There is no one they will not hang out to dry. We MUST think for ourselves.
My doctor told me pelvic floor exercises are important to do. She told me this before and after the surgery. She mentioned not for a few weeks as I am still healing ( had total hysterectomy done last week). She mentioned doing kegals. As well as how there is the small possibility bladder can drop years from now if don't keep up pelvic floor strength.
I've had no guidance, am 4 weeks post surgery full hysterectomy keyhole. No help with exercise or anything I should or shouldn't do. I'm having to search online for answers. I also have no further post-op checks with anyone! I'm glad for your advice. Thank you
OMG Have been seen by 4 gyn drs and not one suggested or referred to a Pelvic Floor PT! Thank you for getting this information out to those of us in need. Will be in for a robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy to remove 10cm cysts which attached to ovaries and fallopians - Thankful that youtube videos have altered me to the PT options. The videos have defined the issues I have been experiencing, now on to the repair ahead.
I will be on 2 week post surgery and I must say, I had a pretty good experience! It was an interesting 2 weeks that I want to share to others that are getting ready to have one. First, I had one because after being in Menopause for about 3 years, I started to bleed out of nowhere! Well, it turned out to be a thickening of the uterine lining. Unfortunately for me, nothing seems to help stop it so after a year of this, I opted to have a complete hysterectomy! And Glory to God, they didn't find anything malignant after doing the lab work on the organs removed! Yeh! Now to my 2 week experience: Day 1 after surgery, I felt great, no pain! I was not hungry just sleepy so I slept a lot! Day 2, I got really bad anxiety and my BP was really high so I ended up going in to ensure nothing else was going in but was released within 3 hours. The ER doctor said it was after effects from anesthesia and should subside after a couple weeks...The anxiety persisted for about a week but it was mild and was managed by taking ibuprofen or tylenol. Day 3, I was still tired, groggy, and loss of appetite but my hubby made sure I at least ate a little soup and drank yokult! I also ate a Kiwi fruit and drank tea every day! Day 4, felt a little better and was able to eat at least 1 full meal! Slept a lot. Day 5, a little bit more energy and was able to eat very tiny meals. Day 6, slight anxiety but able to move around and go for walks every 45 minutes! Day 7, felt so good, I over did my activity and ended up with leg cramps. Increased my water intake and used a heating pad to relieve the leg cramps! Day 8-now, feeling better each day, more energy, moving around great, no pain whatsoever! Excited to see my doc for 2 week post-op so he can release me and I can drive again! Helpful hints that might help someone else: 1. Drink a probiotic every day 2. Drink a lot of water 3. Get up and walk every hour 4. Meditate 5. Drink a greens protein (I felt this really helped my digestion...) 6. Relax and watch your favorite sit-coms!
Had that same thing done 3 days ago. It was better than I expected but I think we all think it will be worse than it actually is. You will be ok. Just take it easy.
This was very helpful. I didn’t have any support from my doctor after the surgery. I wasn’t told what I needed to do afterwards or what I had to work on. It’ll be 3 yrs in Oct since I had my hysterectomy. I had a complication during the surgery that they perforated my bladder and they didn’t correct it properly. I had to have a second surgery to correct that. I’ve been searching for any information that would help me since my bladder was properly corrected. Still today I have the pouch that I can’t get rid of no matter what I do. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us.
Had a hysterectomy yesterday. Couldn’t understand why I felt the urge to pee out of nowhere and almost didn’t make it to the restroom each time, now I know why. Thanks for the info.
@@dr.dawnhealthypelvis question I’m a week and some days post op. Why does my butt hurt? Am I sitting wrong? Shouldn’t have driven early ? They stayed I could drive 5 days after. I feel fine but my butt hurts. Gas pain happens as well
6 weeks post op. I was told NONE of this, just that I'm "good to go." I feel I need to work on my core before going back to heavy lifting. Thank you for this video!
It's frustrating how little info is given sometimes. I was told to let pain be my guide and not to lift. Then at my 2 week checkup, I was told by a different doctor that I wasn't supposed to be walking as much as I was--that 75% of my waking hours should be resting. One of my internal stitches was "angry". She said if I was moving, I wasn't fusing back together.
@@hillwalk24wow, my doctor told me to get up and start walking the day after surgery. He said I could go outside 5 or 6 times a day I want 10 minutes at a time and just rest in between.
I’m at 15 weeks later still have pain with bending and lifting and my stream has changed. Ct scan showed a small hernia and surgeon says I’m good to go and off restriction. I’ve never had a physical exam before or after and worried. He said I had scar tissue and would feel pain forever and they can’t fix it. Is this my new normal? I was told to walk and was on my own after week one
@@katywalker1048Hi, I’m so sorry to hear it. This is very concerning and scary. I hope you have gotten a second opinion since then. Please let us know.
I had a robotic surgery on 3/15 to remove my uterus, cervix, tubes and ovaries thru my vagina d/t uterine cancer. I’m 60, obese and not in shape, but I’m walking outside twice a day. Pooping has been tough. So I’ve been drinking lots of water and a small glass of prune juice in the morning, eating fruits and veggies, and taking Benefiber and Colace. No urine leakage so far, but the urgency to pee has increased periodically. Im afraid of any prolapse, so thank you for your tips!
I forgot to mention I went home the same day. Took a shower and started walking outside the next day. I started taking Tylenol and Motrin around the clock day 1-4 for pain. Now I’m taking it as needed. I took Oxycodone (only 5 mg) the first and second night. So far so good. It hurts, but it’s expected to hurt I suppose. 😉My main issue is pooping. It takes awhile to go. I’m afraid to push too hard. But I’m pooping 1-4 times (small amounts) a day.
I'm 50 and 11 days post full abdominal hysterectomy (still have my ovaries!) due to a very large fibroid but there were some complications with the surgery as I had a lot of scar tissue from a previous C-section, my bladder was stuck somewhere it shouldn't have been and they found adenomyosis in my uterus (which I didn't know about previously but makes SO much sense!) I'm doing well, very mobile and the pain is manageable now. The first day I wanted to die, really I though I'd never survive the pain and I'd never be 'normal' again! They took the catheter out early the morning after the surgery, got me up and put of bed, showered and mobile 😳 looking back I think it was too soon as I was almost completely incapacitated with pain but I'm not a doctor 🤷 Day 2 was marginally better but still in a world of pain...It was INCREDIBLY hot in the hospital and I had no appetite at all... Then day 3 hit and I suddenly felt a bit better, apart from my bowel and bladder 🙁 I screamed when a doctor touched my abdomen 😳 so they sent me for a CT scan which showed some liquid in my lungs and a LOT of inflammation in my lower stomach area. I was started on intravenous antibiotics just in case of infection. Day 4 I was up and about more, feeling good, still a bit wobbly and in pain but ready to leave hospital the next day! Day 5 I left hospital with a prescription for pain meds, stool softener and 5 days of oral antibiotics. I also had a very busy day as I had a 3 hour drive to my parent's house where I came for recovery, I ended up exhausted but glad to be home! Day 6 the extreme pain in my bowel in the morning started when I needed to go for a BM 😳 Day 7 my original dressing came off (a pico 7 compression bandage) which was an amazing blessing, the wound was almost 100% healed on the outside, still a lot of pain and tenderness. Day 8 I noticed that a lot of the bloating was gone, even my Mum said I looked like I lost a stone (14 lb) overnight! Day 9 I weighed myself just to see and I had acrually lost 10.5 lb between the surgery, bloat and not having an appetite in hospital! 😳 Day 10 I went for a 20 minute walk with my dog though I have been very mobile anyway in general. My biggest issues now are the extreme tiredness and the excruciating pain in my bowel and bladder whenever I have a BM ☹️ It is almost unbearable 🙁 I'm told it 'just needs to settle' and to 'give it time' but it's really awful and I don't hear anyone else talking about it?! 🤷🤷 Love, healing and blessings to all 💚💚
I cannot believe this but I have this same problem and I'm in agony. I haven't been able to eat a normal diet and the pain is so bad, I need to use suppositories every morning. I'm in hell.
I'm having the same excruciating pain in my bladder/bowels. I'm 9 days post op. Pain in my lower abdomen too. When does it get better or at least bearable?
@@uhkm5045 I'm 5 weeks post op in 2 days and it hasn't been easy 😔 I ended up back in hospital again through A&E (accident and emergency) 2 weeks ago (at 3 weeks PO) with EXTREME pain in my abdomen, awful pressure when I sat down, terrible pain in my bladder and bowel, also unable to release my bladder. The pain was really bad, especially when I was having a BM or trying to pass wind, it would come in waves for anything from 20 mins to an hour and I would scream and feel like I would pass out. It felt like it was spasming, cramping and tearing apart 😩 peeing hurt too at that stage and my whole abdomen was incredibly painful even to touch. They kept me in for another week and started me on intravenous antibiotics as well as very strong painkillers, intravenous paracetamol and buscopan! My white blood cells were elevated as well as my inflammation markers, indicating infection. They performed a CT scan which showed a small "collection' ie infection, near my bladder area as well as diverticular disease (which I didn't have before or if I did it had never flared up 🙁). The suspicion is that the hysterectomy surgery may have triggered it as well as the bladder repair, causing current infection, pain and bladder issues such as I often don't realise when my bladder is full and I need to empty it 😳 After my WBC count returned to normal and the inflammation markers and pain reduced I was discharged on oral antibiotics for a further week 😭 The pain is a lot less now but still comes and goes and I'm afraid of what will happen when I finish the antibiotics 🙁 but I will have my 6 week check up next week so hopefully I might get more answers then as well as the hospital is going to do a colonoscopy under outpatients to try to find out why my bowel is so inflamed which night 'just' be the diverticular disease 🤷😔 I feel quite weak and the further infection definitely set my recovery back but I do feel like I'm getting a bit stronger every day as long as I can keep the bladder/bowel pain at bay. The actual wound healed very well though my tummy is totally numb but I remember it took many years for that to wear off after the C-section I had 20 years ago!
Had renal/bladder US for nephrology appt. A left ovary cyst was noted. So the blood labs done and now just waiting for those results. Gynecologist stated I’m having surgery- just depends on what’s the outcome. I’m glad there are sites to become the self proactive patient and have my questions ready July 29th. I lost my veteran buddy whom I cared for 10 yrs on May 6th. How I wish I had his hand to hold during this unexpected challenge. But I’m getting my ducks in order! Love to all who post here. ❤
Had mines done 6 days ago ..Had to be cut took out my uterus & 11 fibroids everything else was left in & I’m feeling great no pain..was up walking the same day was home the next day ..still doing great thank God ..pain was never an issue after surgery took pain medicine for 2 days no more after that ..the only thing that had me was the gas pain .that went away after I used the suppository’s
Thank you for this video. I'm 7 days post-surgery and I feel better each day. I still have some minor abdominal pain, but I've stopped taking the powerful pain meds and just using low-dose acetaminophen. Thanks for the deep abdominal breathing tips. I'm hopeful that it will make a difference. Good luck to everyone in their recovery process. Take time to heal properly and listen to your body. ❤❤❤
4 days post op. Had hysterectomy (only ovaries remain), bladder sling and posterior wall repair. Most of my pain is in my lower back and hips. Sleeping is very hard to do no matter the position.
I had hysterectomy 4 months ago. I still feel pain from time to time. It's the pains that brought me here to seek for answers. Things like these should be discussed before the op so people can make decisions whether they want to continue or not.
It would be great if you could give a timeline for these exercises, I had a total hysterectomy 4 days ago., still have a lot of pain, and do not know if I should start exercising the pelvic floor or if I should wait and how long?
I have undergone my surgery also 2weeks ago, Thank God for the success operation. My incision is ok, I just feel like bloated and uneasy to move-out air (flatulence) ..but my bowel movement is ok.. is this normal doc?
After 15 days, I feel those urges to go to the bathroom more. It is very unpleasent. I dont like to be this way. I miss having my uterus. It was removed as a precaution but ended up not really needed to be removed 😞 well I have to be thankfull the mass in one of my overies was benign. Now I have to deal with not having my averies cervix and uteres. I hope this bladder problem goes away. Thank you for helpful videos.
Day 8 post hysterectomy. Only ovaries remain. It's the serious pain when passing gas or when pooping. When I wake up to go pee, I feel the pressure on the bladder increase and my focus is to get to toilet without any accident. 😢
Well I'm on my 3rd month on July 2nd I like to get a little cramping sometimes and I still get some spotting I asked my doctor about the spotting he said it's pretty normal I just don't understand why I'm still spotting is anybody else 😞
I'll go in 10 days for a cervical cancer and incidentally they've found a friendly fibroid that was first in cystic degeneration and now in necrosis and calcification a month later with all my dietary and herbal self-improvements. Greatly reduced my edema. But now that I know a little dying rock is what has kept my uterus company and not pregnant, I am at peace with the removal of my cervix, uterus and fallopian tubes. I went all the way through DABDA. Now I'm just keeping up my tea, my vitamin E succinate and heat therapy to minimize the tumor and stay busy and positive. Going for an IV infusion of vitamin C to see how it feels. 10 days!
Ah! Bed rest is superior to seated laundry, dishwasher, cooking, sitting at the kitchen table. "Exploratory laparotomy" modified radical. Heart is relaxed today.
Just had my sub total hysterectomy 9 days ago. The pain has been excruciating. Feeling a lot of pressure and pain during bowel movement or when emptying bladder. My lower abdomen feels tender/sore to the touch.
My aunt had her hysterectomy 3 weeks ago. She's been experiencing gas pains and 2 occasions she was vomiting. What's the best things to eat after a hysterectomy? And what not to eat?
Great question! As a general rule more protein for healing, bone broth, collagen smoothies are all great for healing. If this persists make sure she checks in with her doctor! 🙏
It’s 5 weeks since my vertical cut, total hysterectomy. Still cannot sit up normally. I am mostly either laying down on a lounge chair or standing up. I don’t think I can do any kinda exercise aside from a minute of walking for another 3 months. And the hot flashes wake me up 3-4 times a night. If I don’t get HRT, I am pretty sure I’ll have a much shorter life because of the bad sleep. I don’t regret the operation one bit since I was at a point where I had no choice.
I'm 4 weeks post op today and it's been rough. On my left side where I had complications the pain is unbearable. It's put me into depression. I didn't have a choice with this decision but I feel like the seriousness of the situation was downplayed.
Thank you for the detailed explanation! I am 2 wks post op sub. Laparoscopic hysterectomy. I got an infection 2 days after surgery and they had to do emergency surgery leading to me appendix being removed! I’m fine with only some minimal pain in my lower right side! I started spotting about 4 days ago like a lite cycle. Sometimes there are clumps in the toilet! Is this normal and for how long do you bleed!
I hope I saw this before I have a total hysterectomy laparoscopic vaginal surgery.im's an 8 weeks now. My lower back, it's still really hurt me every day I walk 45 minutes...
It's too much painful with anesthesia I can't describe my pain my Hesteryoscopy done yesterday and now I m suffering with high fever in they took piece from my uterus and doctor said to Masha Allah u r healthy no mess seen no fibroids seen no infection seen. So plz pray for me
I just had a robotic hysterectomy four days ago and still in pain. I’m able to walk around the house for 5 minutes top before getting tired and in pain. I actually feel bad for being in pain since so many people I have talked to don’t think it’s a painful surgery because I don’t have a big scar 😢
I just had my vaginal hysterectomy 5 days ago. They took everything out except for my ovaries. Its Painful when coughing, sneezing, laughing and yelling still.
Same procedure here. I’m on day 2. Day one was hell. Today is better but I’m still in a lot of pain and discomfort. And I’m having pain above pelvic and peeing a lot
Hello ladies, I had vaginal hysterectomy too (ovaries left in) and a pelvic floor ( anterior) repair. I’m on day 12 after surgery and can definitely recommend to have a little pillow to protect the area when you are walking, sleeping on your sides and DEFINITELY if you sneeze, clear your throat , cough, laugh ( avoid it if you can ). I have only been on ibuprofen / paracetamol as can’t deal with opioids however, this has really helped with going to the toilet ( plus Movicol, prunes, papaya) as my biggest fear is to strain my self, so I avoid at all costs getting constipated. Wtr moving & general pain, I had endometriosis/ adynomiosis and a uterus prolapse so I CAN already say how different I feel & relieved no to have that constant pressure. I have been moving and walking little by little inside second floor in my house, a few times a day ( no stairs at all yet) and I can recommend gently rocking ( tilt) of the pelvis whilst lying down in bed with bended knees, this movements seems to free my pelvis area of all the accumulative tension & inflammation it has endured. I wish you all a total healing and recovery soon 🙏🏽
@@dr.dawnhealthypelvis No... I think I must go through counseling soon. I feel like I had miscarriage and thought of not having a child is unbearable... Everything happened too fast, I didn't get a chance to process all this...
How do you get rid of abdominal blowding? 48 hrs post surgery and I feel 5 months pregnant. I've done lots of walking...not much help. What else can I do?
I tried purchasing your guide to post-op pt following a hysterectomy but when I went to complete the purchase, it didn’t seem to take payment. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm 40 and had a c section, hysterectomy, bladder reconstruction, and main artery all on one day due to placenta percreta. Placenta grew through my uterus and attached to my bladder n artery. Lost 10 liters blood and was on ventilator. Had a few procedures and hospital stays since with infections in kidneys...bladder and had abcess fluid removed and had tubes put in.
I’ve had 2 C-sections (11+ years ago) and my hysterectomy is next week. I hear C-sections are more painful. My heart goes out to you that you had all those surgeries at once plus a new baby! Wow!
6 weeks post op laparoscopic with assisted vaginal hysterectomy. I’m returning to work snd it’s very heavy lifting and on my feet all shift. Doctor said no lifting over 20 pounds for another month but that’s my job . What exercises can I do to help me not hurt myself. He said I’d be back to normal after 3 months post op but I’m not confident in my body able to lift like I used to it’s scary.
Im getting that done in 2 months. Dr tells me no hrt for at least 6 weeks. Why do we have to suffer and wait so long for any kind of treatment? I'm so nervous. How are you going to help yourself feel better? I'm so sorry you are struggling:(
Yes as long as you are also doing some pelvic floor exercises! Take a look at my program which includes this for your core and pelvic floor: www.level4pt.org/hysterectomy_recovery Thanks for watching!
Hi Good morning mam My mother uterus surgery done in which endometrial cancer grade1 stage pt1b occur in which we remove uterus ovaries cervix and both fallopian tubes but not removed lymph nodes is there any problem ?
I am a complete different person. I did not know I had uterine polyps and I processed with a hysterectomy without knowing what really was it 😔. It is heartbreaking that some physicians will not be honest about our health 💔 After 7 months I still cry, I need my uterus 😢
I had the exact opposite happen. My Dr thought I had polyps, so had the surgery to laser them I bled so much 2 days later I was sent for an ultrasound. Turns out it was a fibroid and the part stuck in my muscle fell into my uterus. Now, 2 months later, I need a hysterectomy. We should have swapped doctors😔
Definitely go and get you some counseling… I just had a hysterectomy on 9/8/23 and it was an emotional toll as well, but i knew what I wanted to get done, because the pain and bleeding was unbearable. But, dont think of yourself as less of a woman, you are still a woman!!!! GOD bless you and I pray that everything goes well with your mental health. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I'm scheduled for a total hysterectomy vaginally assisted. I'm concerned of prolapse down the road because I lift weights. What is the risk after recovery?
If you work on restorative exercises after and really prevent bearing down with lifting or with having bowel movements, it will help prevent the risk even more. Watch some of my prolapse videos too!
Google local Rehab centers. They probably list the treatments you can get there. If not then call and ask them to recommend someone. Also google Pelvic Floor Therapist. I am in Philadelphia and there is a great rehab place called Strive. I started going to them once a week before my surgery. Amazing -I learned so much! I hope you found a place and are on your way to full recovery.

I have sleeping issue where I suffer from insomnia. Lot of heat flashes, heart palpitations are so worrisome…. So glad to have found these video… thank you very much for all the tips and help…. Most Challenging was using the bathroom and getting up from my bed mas well as bending down… I begging showering the 2 day and I do my own breakfast and I prep my kids in The morning for school… mom helps but I like to move around and help…. 3 weeks p/o. Had a total abdominal hysterectomy, uterus, both ovaries, fallopian tubes & cervix removed. Stage 4 Endometriosis. Didn't know about the awful numb and tender apron pouch that hangs over the 6 inch incision. I have been walking 20-40 minutes a day which is one of the best you can do for healing.
Its now 11 weeks after hysterectomy and am back to work. Am a teacher and now my inner wound is aching. So painful inside. Waah. When did you guys get back to work?
I’m debating if I want to move forward with a hysterectomy but I’m scared of early menopause. Did you have a full hysterectomy? I was told that if you keep your ovaries than you don’t have to worry about early menopause
@@user-po7jl3sl3r Hi ma'am, I'm 45 and had an abdominal hysterectomy on July 31 due to a large fibroid. My uterus, top of cervix, fallopian tubes, and right ovary (surgeon discovered a cyst) were removed. I have ALWAYS run on the hot side and feel normal. At my 10 day post-op one of my surgeons said hot flashes, other menopause symptoms would've happened within 72 hrs. I'm just ecstatic to no longer have periods, naturally go through menopause when it's time 😅
I had a radical hysterectomy… it took one year to be able to do what I did before surgery… without getting what I call a bladder spasm … it felt essentially like a classic period pain. …. I was never told to,do,pelvic floor exercises… how strange is that… one question… it’s now almost 3 years since the operation… if if sit with my feet up on a low stool at the computer…. It triggers the same spasm …which requires lying down with knees up under pillow…and pain meds… I asked my oncologist about it the other day at my 6 month visit and he dismissed it out of hand. I am not sure why I am still experiencing pain for that one activity… so should I still be expecting pain so many years later… it was a vaginal surgery…
If might be your inner pelvic floor muscles spasming and sometimes that gets triggered with sitting in certain positions. I would try to see a pelvic floor physical therapist in your area and describe your symptoms. Thank you for watching the video!
Oh my goodness! I had the same thing! Turns out I had sciatica from being moved on the operating table. I went to my chiropractor plus got on a steroid and I am doing much better. Not saying that’s what you have but I went 3 weeks in pain, not being able to walk or sit.
I’m 5dpo from a robotic assisted lap and going crazy. My one incision burns with every movement. I did take narcotics but I’m off of them now and still hurt. Not sure if I’m just getting used to things shifting or if I actually hurt. 🙃 But I will say this, if you’re getting ready for such a procedure, invest in a good binder. It helps so much!!
Hi Dawn, may i have your opinion, please? I'm 54 and basically fine with the heavy bleeding/fibroid and the low energy. Is it safer for my health to get hysterectomy or wait to end periods naturally?
@dr.dawnhealthypelvis Thank you for your reply. I've spoken to 3 doctors. And they all say it's up to me. The only benefit of a hysterectomy is that the bleeding will end immediately. I guess I will have to think about it more. Thank you truly.
Day 2 post op from a large fibroid removal and hysterectomy leaving ovaries. I am in a lot of pain still but happy to have found this information. It feels like my insides wanna fall out 😢
I’m 5 days in and there’s still a lot pain around the incision area but emotionally I’m ok and hopefully for total recovery soon.
I had a robotic hysterectomy on July 10th. I have been recovering well.
@@r-jproductions1343
We knew about the uterine cancer through pathology tests from earlier attempted D&C, but the fallopian cancer was not detected until surgery.
So far no bladder issues after surgery-bowels are still loose though.
But I’m also doing pelvic floor PT to avoid bladder issues.
Thank you for the comment! Wishing you the best in your recovery 🙏

It will get better, listen to your body and be gentle during your recovery ❤️
I tried cooking (cleaned preop), sitting with a friend and seated laundry on day one after home and I was so glad to lie down. Gravity is powerful.
Is it laproscopic?
WOW....hope I do that well. Surgery in five days
2 days post op and my stomach does feel tight… moving slow but thankful it’s over! Time to heal ❤
Same. Just had mine 9/8/23. I just had extreme nausea and vomited everytime i tried to talk.
I'm also 2 days post op and my abdomen is so swollen, are you swollen at all? How's your pain. It’s been 7 days after i had my robotic hysterectomy. I had my fallopian tubes and uterus removed I feel fine i took shower after 2 days, making my own breakfast . 🥰
I wish! I'm in excruciating pain!
I got out of bed the morning after surgery, made my bed, and took out my own catheter 😂 (I’m an RN and stayed on the floor where I work, so my nurse handed me the syringe and asked if I wanted to do it myself). I took Motrin for discomfort (pressure), but no narcotics.

@@JennyLouRN Glad it was better for you. I also had lots of Endometriosis so maybe that's why my recovery was far worse.

I’m going into surgery tomorrow with similar hopefully I’ll keep my ovaries.

Thanks doctor. I am nervous for my upcoming surgery.
God bless!
Thank you. My doctor visit was delayed too.
They take it all out because cancer jumps and if they only take the uterus where the polyp developed and cancer cells were found... there is a risk that the cancer jumps to the cervix or ovaries. I am having a full hysterectomy for the this very reason. Taking it all out also means no chemo is needed.
Incredible pains am 1 week in today May God heal us all❤️
Sounds like we had our surgeries at the same time. Sending you continued healing well wishes!

Thank you for watching! Yes, see a pelvic floor PT and if you find yourself without answers I am happy to book a virtual session. 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing. I am 2 weeks post op. I can start working on it
I cry over your situation.
Thanks for these great tips. I'm waiting to go in the OR now. So nervous

What is the pouch?

I'm 50 and 11 days post full abdominal hysterectomy (still have my ovaries!) due to a very large fibroid but there were some complications with the surgery as I had a lot of scar tissue from a previous C-section, my bladder was stuck somewhere it shouldn't have been and they found adenomyosis in my uterus (which I didn't know about previously but makes SO much sense!)
I'm doing well, very mobile and the pain is manageable now. The first day I wanted to die, really I though I'd never survive the pain and I'd never be 'normal' again! They took the catheter out early the morning after the surgery, got me up and put of bed, showered and mobile 😳 looking back I think it was too soon as I was almost completely incapacitated with pain but I'm not a doctor 🤷
Day 2 was marginally better but still in a world of pain...It was INCREDIBLY hot in the hospital and I had no appetite at all...
Day 6 the extreme pain in my bowel in the morning started when I needed to go for a BM 😳
Day 7 my original dressing came off (a pico 7 compression bandage) which was an amazing blessing, the wound was almost 100% healed on the outside, still a lot of pain and tenderness.
Day 10 I went for a 20 minute walk with my dog though I have been very mobile anyway in general.
My biggest issues now are the extreme tiredness and the excruciating pain in my bowel and bladder whenever I have a BM ☹️
It is almost unbearable 🙁 I'm told it 'just needs to settle' and to 'give it time' but it's really awful and I don't hear anyone else talking about it?! 🤷🤷
Love, healing and blessings to all 💚💚

The suspicion is that the hysterectomy surgery may have triggered it as well as the bladder repair, causing current infection, pain and bladder issues such as I often don't realise when my bladder is full and I need to empty it 😳
After my WBC count returned to normal and the inflammation markers and pain reduced I was discharged on oral antibiotics for a further week 😭
The pain is a lot less now but still comes and goes and I'm afraid of what will happen when I finish the antibiotics 🙁 but I will have my 6 week check up next week so hopefully I might get more answers then as well as the hospital is going to do a colonoscopy under outpatients to try to find out why my bowel is so inflamed which night 'just' be the diverticular disease 🤷😔
I feel quite weak and the further infection definitely set my recovery back but I do feel like I'm getting a bit stronger every day as long as I can keep the bladder/bowel pain at bay.
The actual wound healed very well though my tummy is totally numb but I remember it took many years for that to wear off after the C-section I had 20 years ago!

10 days!
I lived 👀 🙌🏿 My heart is pounding.
Ah! Bed rest is superior to seated laundry, dishwasher, cooking, sitting at the kitchen table. "Exploratory laparotomy" modified radical. Heart is relaxed today.
I got hysterectomy last 27 days before pl guide excercise for core and gluet and even for thighs.
Going on 3 weeks now. Had a prolaps . Still have swelling and also doing a little more bleeding not sure if that's normal
Just had my sub total hysterectomy 9 days ago. The pain has been excruciating. Feeling a lot of pressure and pain during bowel movement or when emptying bladder. My lower abdomen feels tender/sore to the touch.
How are your symptoms now? What have you done so far for your recovery?
Me also. It's been 6 days. Feels like a heavy weight when I stand up. All but 1 ovary left
@@cynthialantzer5057i have one ovary left as well I’m 10’days out the pain is hell
Dr. Dawn, thanks for your time, the video is very helpful!
Thank you for watching!
Have you talked to your doctor? how are you doing now?
I hope I saw this before I have a total hysterectomy laparoscopic vaginal surgery.im's an 8 weeks now. My lower back, it's still really hurt me every day I walk 45 minutes...
I’m sorry you are hurting! Stay the course, rest and everyone recovers at different rates. Thanks for watching ❤️
It's too much painful with anesthesia I can't describe my pain my Hesteryoscopy done yesterday and now I m suffering with high fever in they took piece from my uterus and doctor said to Masha Allah u r healthy no mess seen no fibroids seen no infection seen. So plz pray for me
I just saw this post I pray 🙏🏽 u doing better now.

I just had a robotic hysterectomy four days ago and still in pain. I’m able to walk around the house for 5 minutes top before getting tired and in pain. I actually feel bad for being in pain since so many people I have talked to don’t think it’s a painful surgery because I don’t have a big scar 😢
Just listen to your body, it takes time. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Pain is bad enough without people being jerks eh
3 days out from my surgery i have a lot of lower back pain, abdominal pain. Hurts a lot to pee.
Same 😢
I just had my vaginal hysterectomy 5 days ago.
I carried a small pillow with me to hold against my stomach when coughing or sneezing. It helped A LOT.
You guys taking anything for pain?
I’m pre surgical and I’m wondering if there are any exercises I can do to strengthen my pelvic floor to improve my surgical outcome?

I tried purchasing your guide to post-op pt following a hysterectomy but when I went to complete the purchase, it didn’t seem to take payment. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm 40 and had a c section, hysterectomy, bladder reconstruction, and main artery all on one day due to placenta percreta. Placenta grew through my uterus and attached to my bladder n artery. Lost 10 liters blood and was on ventilator. Had a few procedures and hospital stays since with infections in kidneys...bladder and had abcess fluid removed and had tubes put in.
Wow, that is a lot to go through! thank you for watching the video, hope you found it helpful and best wishes to you as you recover:)

I’ve had 2 C-sections (11+ years ago) and my hysterectomy is next week. I hear C-sections are more painful. My heart goes out to you that you had all those surgeries at once plus a new baby! Wow!
My goodness you have been through the mill I will stop moaning about my symptoms after reading this! Hope your ok and on the mend ❤
I had a total open abdominal hysterectomy and sanpalingo oopherectomy two weeks ago and it has thrown me into early menopause and I’m miserable
Im getting that done in 2 months. Dr tells me no hrt for at least 6 weeks. Why do we have to suffer and wait so long for any kind of treatment? I'm so nervous. How are you going to help yourself feel better? I'm so sorry you are struggling:(

Hi Good morning mam
My mother uterus surgery done in which endometrial cancer grade1 stage pt1b occur in which we remove uterus ovaries cervix and both fallopian tubes but not removed lymph nodes is there any problem ?
I am a complete different person. I did not know I had uterine polyps and I processed with a hysterectomy without knowing what really was it 😔. It is heartbreaking that some physicians will not be honest about our health 💔 After 7 months I still cry, I need my uterus 😢
Sorry...😢 I feel like I need counseling...
I am so sorry to hear this!
How do I find a pelvic floor therapist? What do I look for? What are they called?
Google "Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist near me" and interview a few to find a good fit!
I just had a hysterectomy two weeks ago up doing some stuff but pelvic area still feels a bit tender.

If you keep your cervix do you need mesh?
I am not sure of the specifics of the surgery, your doctor would have to advise you on that. Thanks for watching!
I'm 8 days pre-surgery. My original issue is a prolapsed bladder.
How did it go?
Am six weeks since my hysterectomy. It has been a journey. Now having lots of hot flashes
I am sorry to hear, how is your body doing physically?
Physically am very well. Thanks for asking
2 weeks post abdominal hysterectomy and my hips hurt a lot when I walk and my thighs hurt when laying down. Still sleeping on the couch….
Hope you feel better soon. I’m two weeks post op as well.
Sorry. The first two weeks after hysterectomy are very painful. You will be fine
Oh my goodness! I had the same thing! Turns out I had sciatica from being moved on the operating table. I went to my chiropractor plus got on a steroid and I am doing much better. Not saying that’s what you have but I went 3 weeks in pain, not being able to walk or sit.
@@Whatworksthisworks im Doing a lot better. I’m on week 5 now. I’m walking a lot and have chiro booked.

Hi! Unfortunately I can’t give you medical advice, but have you consulted with more than one doctor? What is the upside of getting a hysterectomy?
@dr.dawnhealthypelvis Thank you for your reply. I've spoken to 3 doctors. And they all say it's up to me. The only benefit of a hysterectomy is that the bleeding will end immediately. I guess I will have to think about it more. Thank you truly.
Day 2 post op from a large fibroid removal and hysterectomy leaving ovaries. I am in a lot of pain still but happy to have found this information. It feels like my insides wanna fall out 😢
can going up and down ur stairs effect ur cut I had a total hysterectomy cuz after six weeks my cut is still sending puss is it normal
What if you have precancerous fibriods? Should you get your tubes removed?
My abdominal is still strong after surgery
6 weeks is when the skin heals but it takes months to get back to normal and this is for all major surgeries.
