I just had a full hysterectomy 4 weeks ago not eating red meat help me to use the bathroom and I added METAMUCIL NO LAXATIVE it can definitely make you dehydrated and YUP move please as much as you can the more I say the more pain so I did floor exercises slow slow and walked 15 M. In my own home Jesus BLESS ALL LADIES YOU WILL GET BETTER PRAY AND BELIEVE 💟
@Carmela Moreno DELEON Thank you for sharing your experience and tips for recovery after a hysterectomy. It's great to hear that you have found ways to manage your bowel movements and increase your activity level while still being mindful of your recovery process. Slow and steady progress is key, and it's important to listen to your body and not push yourself too hard too soon. Best wishes for a continued smooth recovery, and thank you for watching this video!🙏 💖
I had a laproscopic hysterectomy w/ Devinci Robot 5 days ago, last Friday morning. I'm doing good. The worst day was Sunday. My anesthesia & block wore off Saturday evening so all my feeling came back. Pain was very manageable with medication but it was mostly pressure I felt. And a uneasy weird feeling in my stomach. Like everything was "settling" or hollow feeling. I used a pillow to hold against abs when getting out of bed or recliner. Getting comfy in the bed was a challenge @ first. It's gotten easier. I'm a side sleeper & still can't do that. I'm walking through the day & I know that has helped tremendously. Day of surgery I went to a regular room in hospital & made myself walk the hallway slowly about 2-3x about 2-3 hrs after surgery. Moving helps with gas & soreness! Gas X, Colace & Smooth Move tea are a must!!! I started Colace a few days before surgery & still taking it! My bowels woke up 3 days after surgery. I don't regret the surgery. You can do this! The biggest obstacle is feeling tired & fatigued. And making myself rest! Even though I feel good, I'll do a little something & get completely wiped out & tired. I keep having to remind myself that I'm healing internally & I need to sit still!! I had 4 fibroids removed. 45, single, no kids. I was terrified of the surgery but feel confident & hopeful now!❤❤
@sammijeann9354 i was scared of recovery more than anything and the pain but I'm 2 weeks out and I feel pretty good, just sore. I also had the DaVinci robot and I'm so glad I did. Definitely do a light diet and Colace. I did not do colace before surgery and I should have. Definitely go for short walks, I paced my living room in 5 minute increments the first week, outside of normal activities and that helped (it's been cold and I didn't want to shiver). I wish you a safe and speedy recovery!
Just had full Hysterectomy done, have lots pain my abdomen and constipation. Its only been 3rd day. My doctor did not advice the importance of eating super light or liquid diet before surgery. Ladies the light eating before surgery super important and having gas relief, laxatives, and pain medication is a must!!!
I didn't have walks after miectomy, but had housework(cook, laundry). I used to do this for 5-6 hours, in order to avoid the pain of geting up and down the bed. Drink apple juice and natural kefir. Try Forlax if you're very constipated.
Mira lax on the go packets . Two times a day until you go then down to one pack a day!! I had the same problem!! Today is my exact 1 week post surgery . You will feel soo much better when you do go!! Good luck
@@estellebarrow5346 gas ex extra strength… you will want a case of water, a box of gas ex and a box of the miralx on the go packets some soup and crackers …. If you’re someone who doesn’t go #2 regularly make sure to start the miralax day after surgery … trust me!!!! And the gas pains the first few days after surgery don’t go away with just the gas ex you have to walk around a at least little and eat .. I am at week 5 let me know if you have any questions!! Feel so much better now only wish I knew these few things beforehand! Good luck
I’m 73 yrs old. Had total abdominal hysterectomy just over 2 weeks ago. I had a 30cm ovarian cyst removed with everything else. Shoulder pain was at times unbearable. 3 nights in hospital. During the 4 hours I was in recovery room I ended up with 2nd degree burns resulting from a heating pad. Never felt a thing but must change bandages on burn every day and have video conferences with burn unit. Daughter uses deep blue or tiger balm to massage my shoulder and do my best to walk around the house regularly until I feel need to sit. Listening to my body. At least I don’t look 6 months pregnant anymore due to the massive cyst and each day I’m a bit better and much less shoulder pain. Oh! Also I never saw a comment on having diarrhea every 30 minutes as soon as my bowels woke up on day 5. I put myself on a brat diet as ACL labs were closed due to holidays. 36 hours later it greatly improved. Now trying to still have normal bowels but told it takes a couple to a few weeks. Sorry to go on so long but perhaps it’s relatable to someone.
Hi, I am sorry, but how it could happen? I mean a cyst , size of 30 cm? This is huge.Have you ever had ultrasound done? The doctor wouldn't miss it....I cant imagine.....
I'm having the same thing I just got home from having a massive tumor in my abdomen that was in both ovaries removed and I'm only 17😢 so hearing that other people go through this helped a bit thank you 😭
Way better video than a lot other doctors. The doctors seem to underestimate the recovery process. It is not that fast. They made a lot of people feel they can work already. I'm two and half weeks from my surgery, and I'm only able to walk very slowly. Far away from doing anything else.
I would highly recommend a binder around the core. When I woke up, the doctors had put one on me. It has helped me tremendously. It has been so helpful to feel protected and when walking, occasionally coughing, sneezing or laughing. Also the breathing exercises are important so you don’t develop pneumonia. They gave me a device to do them too. I agree with the advice she provided. Wishing you all good healing and speedy recovery.
That's what I thought, like wearing a Spanx that doesn't squash you to make you skinny, but just gently holds you shaped upwards of that makes sense, like Spanx a size up from vanity effect.
I disagree with the binder. Have one but Dr is against it cuz body depends on it and won't heal as quickly. Similar to back belts it weakens you once removed.
Greetings from Waco, Texas, USA. I found your video to be quite helpful. Yesterday was my one-week "anniversary" from the laparoscopic complete hysterectomy that I underwent. Sadly, I live 100 miles from the hospital and don't have nurse-educators here to help me. You filled in the gap quite nicely. Isn't it amazing that we can get information from around the world to help us? Very grateful to have found this!
Today is week one, I am wearing a binder in the AM and at night struggling with the proper medication. I am trying to avoid addiction. I am walking back and forth and as someone mentioned before, please eat light before surgery. You will regret it if you don’t. I can’t wait to start doing the ten minutes per week or 30 for week. Fruits helped me a lot. Very important, my daughter bought me a water bubble, two of them! They are life savers, help me relieve my pain and soothe me to sleep.
I had a abdominal hysterectomy 1 week ago. I started walking the day after. It does help tremendously. I had 3 sections. The hysterectomy is a total different experience though.
Tysm, I’m only 21 and just had my right ovary removed in emergency surgery after multiple cysts down there burst. Had no clue they were there until then. I was rushed out of hospital due to the pandemic and I am currently struggling to move at all and feel insecure without an expert eye to guide and watch over my early recovery. It was the worst pain I ever felt, I’m still trying to process everything because it all happened so suddenly. I’ve only got my little brother around whose trying his best to help out but he’s just as much at a loss as I am about the whole situation. Your videos are a godsend!
Hey, MN Hammond, hope you recovered well. It isn't easy going through a surgery at any age and to go through such a surgery at such a young age and that too alone must've taken huge courage. Wish you loads of luck and love.
Had my surgery 6 days ago I've had a full hysterectomy & a cyst removed the size of a 24 week pregnancy, so I've been cut open vertically but the scar is amazing I'm so happy it's just the after pain now & bowl movement but all part of surgery I was in hospital 4 days & the surgeons & nurses were lovely at my local Women's Hospital Liverpool ,just on the road to recovery now 🤞🏼🙏🏼 so good luck to everyone past & present & always listen to your own body. Godbless 🙏🏼 💖 from Liverpool 🇬🇧...
Hi Can you please share your experience with the general anesthesia and post op pain? I am pending this type of surgery and nervous about anesthesia and post op pain - I had a c section 27 years ago and the pain was sooo unbearable
Thank you for sharing your story. I will have my surgery in Independent Hospital London. I am very stressful and afraid of pain after surgery as i have read many story : how 's hard and painful ....
While on opiates, I was walking a solid half hour, always ending in collapse. There weren't any brochures or guidance about the amount of exercise that's safe, I had no idea it was too much and kept on trying because I thought it was just that I'm unfit. I was super happy to find your ebook and then this film. I immediately moved to a 5 minutes per walk regimen and haven't collapsed since. Thank you for sharing this information! It has been a great help.
I’m so glad Cath - yes opiates can cause breathing issues - take it slow and build up gradually you’ll find that you can get back to your longer walks. Aim for 10 mins then try to do 2 lots of 10 and so forth up to total 30 a day, this will get much better - hang in there! All the best
Had a total hysterectomy w/ a rectocele repair 2 days ago, sent home with honestly very little plan on how to recover, and the emergency numbers they sent me with lead to a voice mail telling me to call back Monday (it's Saturday) or to ER that says "we can't help over the phone, you'll have to come in but we're very busy so it'll be a while." Going to the bathroom has been traumatic, too put it mildly. These videos and comments are very helpful and encouraging, thank you!!
@kelliemilner7586 I'm so glad to hear that the videos and comments have been helpful and encouraging for you during such a challenging time. It's important to take things slowly and listen to your body. If you have any immediate concerns, don't hesitate to visit the ER despite the wait times. Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery! Take care.🙏
Just had abdominal hysterectomy 3 weeks ago. Grocery shopping is a whole new experience. I'm slowly increasing walks and lifting as I want to return to work at week 6. My job requires 50 lb lifting frequently so gradually is key in everything. That sit before getting out of bed is helpful indeed. I'm eating every 3 hours and menopause is a new experience but yes taking breaks is key and avoid bending over quickly is smart. Thanks for the tips. I'm only 42 active but getting my strength back slowly.💯✝️💪
I had full laparoscopy hysterectomy done yesterday. Now I feel pain on my belly and gas. I have taken medication on time. Im just worried that after 6 weeks I am not able to come back to work physically fit as my job requires long hours of standing and lifting. I want to know if you experienced difficulties during your working hours
🌺🙏Thank you so much for this information! I had bilateral salpingo oopharectomy hysterectomy ( both ovaries((both had abcesses)) , fallopian tubes, cervix and (over enlarged) uterus and 2 1/2 lb fibroid) over a week ago, May 28 and have a 7 inch scar and wasn’t sure how much walking I could do.Your videos have helped so much. Walking has really helped me. Thanks to God I’m healing nicely. I’ve been slowly walking since day after surgery. Gradually walking a bit more as my healing progresses. I feel much better and this has helped me so much.🙏✝️❤️Thank you for sharing your information. God bless you! 🙏✝️🤗❤️💐
this is the best recovery video ive seen! I am two weeks and walking really helps with my bowels and the gas i have left. i walked about 10 minutes and it felt like time to stop. But it also felt good to get outside and feel the sun and the breeze. Feel..normal again i guess... Im glad i found this!!
Yes you’ll feel normal again soon, it’s amazing how movement and being outside can make you feel so much better and speed recovery. All the best to you!
@@kameko839 im not completely recovered. Ongoing physical therapy. But the amount of relief was so amazing! It hurt bad for the first week with the incisions and gas...but man...I tell you. Best surgery ive had and the relief from the intense pain gave me my life back. You'll do great! Id love to hear how things went for you!
God definitely had plans for you. We had a house fire when I was a kid. The main memory I have is how close our family got at the time. Keep talking about the blessing, and the kids will be fine. God bless.
Thank you for this informational video, Michelle. I'm five days post abdominal hysterectomy, and I think I may have been overdoing it with the walking once I got home. It was interesting (and eye-opening) to hear that internal healing is continuing long past the outer incision. I'm slowing it down, as hard as that is! I appreciate your advice.
I am about to have a hysterectomy and feeling a bit nervous. I am glad your video popped up when I searched for post-op recommendations. Thankful also for those who have gone through hysterectomy and posted their comments.
hi..@maria2012mar i am also scheduled for total abdominal hysterectomy this coming may 20, 2022 due to large cyst in my left ovary...i also had my right ovary removed last year..im a bit nervous but i just pray that things be well...
Woah! I just googled on "exercises after hysterectomy" to find out if I could do more than the doctor's order to walk, walk, walk. I'm so happy to find this video series. Now I know what exercises I can safely do. I had to laugh here about how much walking. I was given no direction as to "how much", so I have been faithfully walking outside more and more distance. I'm a bit way past the 7 week mark in recommended walking distance already and it's been 9 days since surgery - lol! It isn't hurting me, even though I feel like I'm slogging through molasses after 10 minutes or so - lol. Now I know why. The internal healing is still taking a lot of energy. For the first couple of days out, I used both of my walking sticks for balance, then one stick until I felt stable in outdoor space. I'm very excited about the pelvic floor and abdominal exercises in your other videos. I wish I'd known sooner, but I've already done my first set now, so...sally forth! Thank you so much! (It was a laparoscopic removal - what seems to be a 4" incision plus 5 punch holes across the abdomen from the robotic equipment. All the removable bits removed due to early stage uterine cancer which should be gone now).
Week 2 of recovery from lapriscopic Robotic surgery and this video is so helpful!!! I am following it to a T. one tip if you can get access to a walker w/ wheels it is a great tool to have for week one to help you do your walking. Not fully necessary but makes things easier and helps you stand more upright. If not I suggest wearing a belly band to help you walk more upright sooner than later. My 2 cents.
You are amazing, I am very glad found your video. I asked my doctor about a physiotherapist advice before going home asking simple questions, doc said I don't need it, and I just need to walk, not carry heavy things and good luck? I'm so glad I found you ❤️ thank you
Thanks Michele for all of your videos helpings us recovering after hysterectomy. I had mine almost 2 weeks ago, everything have been removed, having a long middle scar. When got home after surgery I couldn’t sit or lying up and down from bed until watched yr videos. They were so useful as well for me regarding I had so much pain, cramps, bowel, bladder, shoulder pains. I had anesthetic and epidural as well which they caused so much problems after surgery. I’m improving day by day and walking outside slowly. I still feel weak and my muscles are so soft. Get tired easily so as you are saying doing everything gradually is very important. Thanks for everything Monika
@monikaraba6170 you’ve had a difficult time, often this comes as an unwanted surprise after hysterectomy doesn’t it. Glad to read you’re walking and gradually improving. Keep up your good work & all the best to you for your recovery 🌸
Ms. Kenway, I have been helping may wife recovery from a hysterectomy. I found all the answers I needed and more. It was the "more" that really led me to get tips I would not have found otherwise. I appreciate your help. Thank you.
Michelle you are so spot on. I am 5 weeks post abdominal hysterectomy and it was awful awful pain for me the first 3 weeks. Looking at your videos have helped me through this process. Thanks for all you do to help the ladies 😊
@@janetk.4379 yes Mrs.Janet very emotional at times for no reason at all. It will get better. Hormones just all over the place. If only we could get those hot 🥵flashes rectified. I think we all will be in top shape 😁
@@janetk.4379Definitely! Day 4 I felt like crying all day and day 5 I woke up depressed. I spent the next week with my mood going up and down. I didn't know that could even happen.
This is very helpful. I’m 72 hours post op and was given no info on how to recover beyond the first couple days. This video gives me a starting point. Thank you!
I had a lap donor nephrectomy two weeks ago and the surgeon promoted walking post surgery, with an escalated rehab protocol in place. On return home, I hadn't been sure how much I should be walking, so your video has provided a good guide and reassured me that I am doing okay as well as helping me recognise why I was tired just walking around the supermarket! Thank you.
Thank you for this video, Michelle! I’ve watched it twice and it has helped me tremendously with my hysterectomy and prolapse repair recovery. 8 days post-op and starting to walk almost 10 minutes at a time 🙏 I am going to try the outdoors this weekend. Wish me luck!
7 days post laparoscopic hysterectomy surgery, I have 4 incision. I was extremely nervous about the surgery, but it wasn’t bad for me…my anesthesia block work wonders and taking my prescribed pain medication on time worked…I’m now 3 days without any meds and I’m doing good…I was sent home same day and been up n walking around slowly since day 2…incision’s are a bit itchy but no complains…
Michelle, your advice for walking post op is valuable. I recently had laparoscopic surgery for a hysterectomy. I'm on week 5 now, and have worked my way up to 30 minutes. It is important to avoid big hills. I took a gradual hill early on and it was simply too much. I needed to cut my walk short and decided on another path the next time. Listen to your body! Thanks, Michelle, for all the information and support!
Thank you so much! I mentioned your ideas to my gyno-oncologist and she mumbled saying, "Yes, exercise is good." but she never gave me any specific instructions! 😔Thanks to your 6 week program I have done very well. I am on week 5 now. Here in the USA you only spend about 18 hours or less in hospital following surgery so you are really all on your own.
Yes agreed, we tend to forget this is major surgery with the rush in and out of hospital and its a tough road for many women physically and emotionally post op. I hope you're doing well!
@@michellephysio Thanks to your marvelous suggestions, I am thriving. I also shared your videos with a colleague who will have hysterectomy. Thank you for making the videos.
I am a 52-year-old woman that had partial hysterectomy, just uterus. From the moment out of surgery I had a burning sensation, very bad burning. I am seven days out since Surgery. Do to Covid in my lungs for four months I’ve gained 80 pounds. So having a hysterectomy as a 250 pound woman has been incredibly hard. I still have extreme burning Plus complication with bowel movements. My plan today is getting an enema to relieve my constipation. I would love to hear from larger women with similar Experiences. Thank you in advance
I live on a hill. There's little r no flat space to walk. I try to listen to my body when I'm walking. A belly binder a major asset during recovery. 10 days post op, it helps me to travel for miles in public transportation without a lot of pain. Thanks for mentioning wearing supportive undergarments. I'll be sure to buy some 👍🏻💕
I’ve just had a total full herectomy on 1st of March 2024, I am 47 years. I am at home, doing some light walking, hang out washing etc. It’s good to know I should continue to light exercise to avoid strain on my bilateral for up to 3 months. Good information!😊
Thank you Michelle- excellent video! I’m 4 days post abdominal hysterectomy surgery so it’s really good to have a guideline on how to support my recovery. It’s also important to hear that full recovery takes 3 months - so many websites surgeons etc say you’ll be back to normal in 6-8 weeks or even earlier! Then you start to think there’s something wrong with you because you don’t feel “normal” yet!!
I truly agree. 3 months is definitely needed. I am 5 weeks in from my abdominal surgery. And week 5 is the first week thus far that I haven’t had to use a heating pad for my back. And that I can actually get up out a chair or bed without pain. It takes time for your body to heal. And I’m so glad I found Michelle on TH-cam she has been a lifesaver because the docs don’t give you all the 411.
Abdominal hysterectomy 3 days now and im in so much pain watching ur video help me learn reduce pain when im moving. I dnt know what to eat its like im always hungry but my tummy so full of gas and i dnt feel like eating
Developed hematomas post lap-hysterectomy, had a 2nd surgery to remove pelvic blood 1 week after. I’m easily exhausted after my morning walk. Listen to your body!
I had mine on August the 29 /24 I asked doctor to prescribe me constipation pills 💊 cause after surgery is what’s normally to happen anyway no problems at at with that also with pain I got ibuprofen 800 mg. I am doing so good at this pioint thank God
Aww. Aug 27, 2024 for me. Recovery is a doozy. Taking my time resting as much as I can without going crazy. Was constipated for the first 6 days. Didn’t eat red meat and took softeners and miralax. Hope you’re recovering well.
Thank y, f all y videos y such a blessing f my journey. You, helped me a great deal w getting out of bed and fixing the horrible upper back gas. I am in wk 2 and walking 30 mins 3 times a day sometimes more if I am getting gas pains. A neighbor before my surgery got rid of their tred mill inwhich was great f me the first week. As soon the pain started at night I would get up and get on my tred mill. And, the diet y discussed in one of y videos was great f constipation. I went into surgery at 230 lbs and now i am 189lbs.
@Heather Schaeffer I'm happy to be of help! I am sorry to hear what you've been through. Thanks so much for your kind feedback. Warmest wishes for a speedy recovery!🙏
I listened to my body and did quite a lot of walking (30 minutes in the morning and afternoon) after about two weeks because it was so helpful with gas, swelling and pain. I've been tired sometimes but never had increased pain or spotting. Guess I'm lucky and heal very well. I stayed in hospital for five days after surgery because besides total hysterectomy I also needed to be operated on my bowel and bladder because of severe endometriosis. The doctor just sent me home saying I'm young and fit and I shouldn't lay around in bed all day but move as much as I can whilst listening to my body. Normally I trailrun and climb a lot but six weeks in I still wouldn't start again because hard impact causes pain. I'll stick with long beautiful walks and easy hikes in nature as long as I need because walking really has been the best medicine for me!
I really appreciate this advice and will be watching all of your other videos on post-hysterectomy recovery. I'm 2 weeks post-surgery, and wish id found this video last week before I went for 2km walk with my hubby and dogs 🙈. I would have put far less pressure on myself. It took me almost 20 minutes to walk 1 km 😢. At least now I'll have more realistic goals - upping to 15 mins from next week.
@Niche Intelligence by Megan Hudson Thank you so much for your comment! I'm so glad that you found this video helpful and that it will be useful for your post-hysterectomy recovery. It's important to take it easy and not push yourself too hard too soon after surgery. I hope that you continue to see progress in your recovery. Best of luck on your recovery journey! 🙏
Thank you for sharing this videos. It helped me alot. 3weeks after operation but they re opened it for some problems and its really hard for me until now. Hoping and praying i will recover soon.
I just had a laproacipic robotic hysterectomy Aug 19 and the pain wasn't bad at all as far as lower abdominal goes but since the surgery I've been having massive pain under my ribcage where my adominal starts stomach is. I was told it was gas but I don't believe it is now. I've been walking since day one. My incisions are good.
Thank you for the tips! For as many women out there having a hysterectomy you'd think there would be lots of material for post-op recovery/ treatment. There needs to be a compartmentalized label for the types of hysterectomy people get. Partial, total, radical (w/ bilateral salpingo and oophorectomy) or not. In most cases of it's laproscopic and vaginal, the recovery is probably faster than laproscopic with incision. Would be great to know statistics on the recovery, possible issues (such as prolapse) from the various types of hysterectomys. Will definitely be checking out your other videos. Thank you!
I walked probably 1 to 2 miles the day after my surgery just around the hospital floor. The gas seeped up into my shoulder (where I have tendinitis) and the pain was unbearable so I could not lay down for hours at all. Walking definitely helps. More women need to be aware of the shoulder pain. Lay up at 90 degrees to avoid it and move your shoulder around in circular motions I found this helps. Wish I knew about the shoulder/ribcage gas pain before my surgery.
Great tip Ash yes the shoulder pain feels awful and makes breathing hard too. This probably requires a video - thank u for taking the time to comment and all the best for your recovery
The shoulder pain is worse than the incisional pain. I thought they broke my right arm during surgery 😂 Thanks for bringing it up. A video on this will be helpful.
Heat is also proven to really help. The pain is actually from the phrenic nerve being irritated by the CO2 gas. It runs from the diaphragm to your neck and causes the pain not the actual gas moving through the body. I got super lucky and skipped this pain but ended up with an emergency proceedure to put in a ureteral stent that I have for 4 weeks. I'm not sure which is better!
I’m so glad I found you! I just had an abdominal hysterectomy + sacrocolpopexy. I’m 8 days post-op. I went into my surgery really well prepared (fit) but have to remind myself not to shuffle my feet and to stand erect, no hunching. I’m looking forward to doing more walking once cleared!
@georgiprom280 Thank you for sharing your post-op journey! It's great to hear that you're staying mindful of your posture and movement. Wishing you a smooth recovery ahead! 🙏
@samcharl5016 my pleasure! Thank you for sharing your experience! I'm so glad this is helping you during your recovery. It's wonderful that you're noticing progress in your 5th week post-surgery. Keep up the great work and take care of yourself as you continue to heal! ❤
Helpful thank you. I was told to short walks so I did 40 mins as I usually do 15 miles. I think the leaflets are not specific enough to be useful. Thank this makes it clearer.
Very helpful! I had complete hysterectomy and was sent home the same day. The support briefs were very helpful and the exercises helped expel the residual gas used to inflate the abdomen during robotic surgery.
I shocked the nurses the day of surgery. I had three c sections so, when I had my hysterectomy 4 days ago, I was walking straight after waking up. 15 minutes at a time. This may sound weird but it was that as I was walking and working out before this procedure. I have to say it helped
I just had fibroid removed even tho it’s not as evasive as a hysterectomy or myomectomy this was very helpful. I’m 2 days post surgery and doctor wanted me to walk right away 15 minutes every 2 hours but your details are so helpful and help with pain/bloating
I’m 38 and have severe PMDD. Nothing has helped me, and my symptoms got worse after 35. I’m having a hysterectomy with cervix, Fallopian tubes, and ovaries removed. I’m very active and work out 6-7 days a week. Mostly to control the anxiety due to the PMDD. Knowing that my movement will be extremely limited, was depressing me. However, the guidance you give in the videos is giving me a lot of hope, and making me feel at ease! Your energy is very positive, and uplifting! . Thank you! Subscribed!🥰

@Lauren Azubeekay You're most welcome! Thank you so much as well for always being here and for your lovely ongoing support, I am most grateful to you indeed ❤️
@@laurenazubeekay6396 I was diagnosed with PMDD and I had the period from hell. It also caused anxiety and depression. I found out I had two fibroids on my uterus prior to my surgery. Two weeks before surgery, I went to the gym 3-4 days a week focusing only on my thighs and legs with weights because I knew walking was important after the surgery. I had a total hysterectomy but kept my ovaries. My surgery was supposed to be 2 hours but ended up being 4 1/2 hours because the two fibroids were actually the size of cantaloupes and hard as a brick. Therefore, I had to be cut below my belly. The day after the surgery, I was able to walk pretty well without feeling weak. When I got home, I walked inside the house 5-10 minutes three times four times a day. By week two, I was walking outside for about 10 minutes and of course my body was feeling fatigued. I am on week 5 after my surgery and I am walking more and longer distances. I actually was glad I focused on my lower body two weeks before the surgery because I was able to get in and out the bed by myself and actually started doing squats on week 3. I am not going to lie, you may feel a little down because you are stuck in the house, but getting rest the first four weeks is very important. If you tired, take a nap for a few hours. I thought I was going to bounce back like I did during childbirth, but no ma’am. When I finally did my research and watched a lot of TH-cam videos , I realized I had to allow my body to take its course. I can honestly say I don’t regret having the surgery. Again, I’m on week 5 after my surgery and I honestly feel like a whole new woman!!!! No anxiety, no depression, NO PERIODS!!!!! I am soooo ready to finally live again!!! I wish you the best.
Lauren did you notice you lower back curvature leaving, some doctors mention this. I’m confused because none of the women have mentioned it. They have actually had the surgery
Great tips, thank you. You may not realise, but your videos are also helpful for men like me, who are transgender and have gone through the same procedure.
I am planned for my op in 1 week. Been checking out your videos over the past 14 mths as I was planned 12mths back to have this op. All clear in 1 week's time.
These have been the most sensible videos- thank you 🙏 I’m 8 days post op and walking around okay. I still have a bit of gas pain here and there, but making progress each day. Your advice and guidance had been a definite go-to source.
@yoneekscott3136 my pleasure! Thank you for your lovely comment! I'm so glad that you found the video helpful and appreciated the way the information was presented. Wishing you all the best - take care! 🙏
Thank you this is so helpful. I had post op information about exercising but it wasnt clear about time frames. This has been really clear, to explain how much to do week by week. I needed this because i was walking but i didn't know if it was enough. I feel reassured not to try and do too much. Thank you. Xxx
Thank you so much for this helpful video. I had a virginal hysterectomy and double prolapse repair 4 days ago . I am already doing regular 5 min walks in a circuit around our landing and bedrooms and plan to go downstairs and into our garden over the next couple of days. I always feel so much better after walking. I look forward to walking to see the sea which is 7 mins walk away very soon! It’s definitely helping my recovery. Thank you again. Beryl/Bournemouth/UK
@berylbye9468 you're most welcome! Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Beryl. It's wonderful to hear that walking has been helping with your recovery after your hysterectomy and prolapse repair. Keep up the good work, and I hope you continue to make progress in your recovery journey - wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery!🙏
@kerryevans2127 my pleasure! That's wonderful to hear! I'm delighted to know that you're progressing well in your recovery. Wishing you a smooth and successful recovery!🙏
I had a radical hysterectomy and it was NOT a less invasive surgery. Studies show less invasive surgeries aren’t as effective for cancer. So, I have a big incision that starts just below pubic line and goes about 1-2 inches above my belly button. I can’t find any information about this type of surgery. This video is the closest I found. Thank you for this video. If you have any other tips I would love to learn them. I’m 3 weeks post op and was told it would take 8 weeks of recovery.
This video was very helpful and timely as I have just completed week 3 after my total laparoscopic hysterectomy. Thank you for all your hysterectomy related videos. They have helped me so much.
I am getting ready to have one of those in a couple of weeks! The problem is, I'll be alone as my husband is deployed and I'm in a place with no family or friends. Meep!
@@M00NdaYn I am alone too. Here is what helped me. I bought a high quality "grabber". (Don't cheap out because cheap ones don't work.) This is a stick that you pull the trigger at the top and the bottom opens and closes. This helps you pick stuff up when you can't bend. For example, getting clothes out of washing machine/dishes out of dish washer, etc. Also buy a long handled shoe horn unless you can easily slip on your shoes without bending. Get a shower chair and a walker. I see these in my thrift store for $10. Clean it all with germkiller. Go to Dollar Store and buy a back scrubber on a stick AND a scrubber thing that is stretchy and has a handle on each end. This is for your showering. Liquid soap is easier because bar soap can fall onto floor. Buy a reach extender for wiping private area after toilet. Now for house set-up. Identify what you can reach without bending or stretching up/down. These will be your "work spaces". Lay out EVERY THING you might need in the room you will use it in. For food, buy TV dinners, canned soup, fruit, etc. Think easy. Have a box of saltine crackers as it helps when taking pain meds/Advil. Make sure you have an insulated cup for ice water. Bathroom- Keep a stack of clean bath towels on counter, Make a countertop bin with lysol wipes, spray disinfectant, paper towel roll. Make another bin with toiletries, toothbrush, plastic bowl (to spit into as you can't bend for sink), plastic cup to get mouth rinsed, brush/comb. I can't sit on my toilet yet, so practice peeing/pooping by standing with one leg on either side of toilet bowl. Install a handheld shower sprayer. This is so you can rinse private area and other places you can't reach due to lack of bending. Next identify a chair you can sit in to relax. A recliner is perfect. Buy disposable chuck pads. Walmart in adult diaper section. These are big, flat waterproof pads. Put one of these on seat of chair and cover with folded bath towel. Put walker where you can reach it from recliner. You can use walker to help pull yourself up from chair. Make sure you have a topsheet, blanket, tv remote at arm height on table next to chair. Prepare your bed with waterproof mattress pad $15 Walmart and a chuck pad where your behind will be. Layer your bed pillows to put your head up high. Also have a few extra pillows for under knees, etc. I suggest you plan to sleep in recliner because getting in/out bed is tricky. Avoid low chairs, avoid hard seat chairs, avoid armless chairs. You can get stuck in them. Have some Poise urine catching pads and ziplock bags in case you have to pee and can't get to toilet in time. Place them in your "area" then after you wet them, put into ziplocks. Identify someone trustworthy to give your house key to in case they need to come in and help you. Make a bin with Advil liquid gells(work fastest), Tylenol, liquid milk of magnesia with simethicone for gas, stool softening capsules, and Tums antacid. Put some crackers in a ziplock bag into that bin. You will carry this with you in your home. I kept my glasses, cell phone, notepad, pen, medication log, etc. In this bin. The bin is because you will initially have very limited mobility. It makes sure your most important stuff is at your fingertips. You will only need the medication log for your narcotic. Writing day/time pill is taken makes sure you don't take too many or too few as that stuff muddles your thinking a bit. Clothing--- I wore nightgowns, muumuus, cotton dress t-shirt style. It was 3 weeks before I could get panties or pants on. Lol have a stack in bathroom on counter ready to grab as you need clean one daily. Use a clean bath towel with each shower too. You will have lifting restrictions. Buy a small bottle of your liquid laundry detergent, buy the half gallon milk size, etc. With some advance preparation you will be fine. I had tubes out, ovaries out, uterus out, and 7 lymph nodes sampled through the robotic endoscopic cancer surgery. I am very fat with a big stomach which makes it harder. If you are slim and have good stomach muscles you might not need all the tools I mentioned. But if you buy from Walmart and save receipts you can take back what you don't use. For me the hardest thing is getting OUT of bed. The recliner chair is SO much easier. If no bowel movement by the second day you are home ask doctor about what to do. After 4 days I was off the prescription pain medicine and on over the counter. After 14 days I didn't need anything for pain. 👍 Put a small table outside your front door for deliveries as you won't be able to bend to pick up stuff. Get an extension cord power strip and tape it down to a surface you can reach. This is to charge your phone, laptop, etc. The tape is so it stays there instead of falling onto the floor. Also, if the doctor gives you an abdominal binder- wear it over your nightgown so it stays clean. I ruined the velcro on my first one by getting it stuck on a furry blanket! Oops. I'm so glad I had this operation. I am doing very well and you will too! You've got this. 👍🤗
I didn't have anyone to walk with me, but I just tried little steps at first at my own pace then gradually did more and more. Best thing is not to go too far at first, I remember feeling a bit panicky thinking I might not make it home even though I was one turning away. I just took it slow and it was ok. Music made me feel relaxed. Walking really helped with moods, lockdown, being restricted on who you meet was tough sometimes. I found a strength on my own.
@@mirandafriday4023 For the first 2 weeks after surgery, I just walked around in my home. I didn't get brave until week 3. My week 4 starts tomorrow and I will try to walk outside.
My doc told me that i can directly walk after the surgery but damn..i think it wasnt that easy for the first week. Now i'm in my 14th day of my post operation n my tummy is still bloated n swelled. Your video is really helpful, i wish i saw this earlier😊
My doctor said the same thing! He told me I could do five or six 10 minute walks starting the day after surgery and get all of my steps in for the day. 😮😮😮😮 He was so wrong.
Thanks for your helpful videos. I followed your pelvic floor video for a couple of years before I had to get a total vaginal hysterectomy two weeks ago. Your tips for walking have been helpful. Although the medical staff and the information they gave me before and after surgery was helpful, there were a few things missing. Eating advice before and after surgery to avoid constipation would be a great help. They did stress the importance of walking and breathing after surgery, but links to videos like yours would be a great help. Thanks
Thank you. Great to get an actual time for what is regarded a short walk and how to increase as weeks progress. Day 12 now and going well but want to ensure I don't over do it either.
I had on full abdominal hysterectomy 3 weeks ago. I started going out for walks last week but I could only manage three days. Now I’m a bit stronger I’ve done two days in a row so far. I am a gym goer so I really need to regain my strength for walking, returning to work in 3 weeks time and returning to the gym mid/late June.
@stridgicals Thank you for sharing your experience after your hysterectomy surgery. It's great to hear that you are gradually building up your strength and incorporating walking into your daily routine. It's important to listen to your body and not push yourself too hard too soon. Your recovery will take time and it's important to take things one step at a time. Keep up with your physiotherapy exercises and gradually increase your walking distance and intensity as you feel able. With patience and persistence, you'll be able to return to your regular gym routine in no time. Wishing you a speedy and smooth recovery! 🙏
Greetings. I'm so grateful I found your videos. They have been extremely helpful after my HAT, I'm going through my fifth day, and this is so hard; however, thanks God for your advice.
Had hysterectomy on Tuesday they had me stay the night to watch me. Didn’t take any meds Thursday Friday or Saturday. I been pain free since day 2 . I walk every other hour to help with gas .keep laxative and please drink a lot of water to help with constipation . Pain meds will also cause you to be constipated so please be careful .
@deborahfairbanks4012 That's wonderful to hear! I hope the information in the video can be helpful to your daughter as she recovers from her hysterectomy. Wishing her a smooth and speedy recovery!🙏
You are delightful Such a help thank you I’m week 4 coming up post lapros Hysta I’m doing what you have suggested so I’m glad I’m on right path If I don’t I notice I get mild pain in calf so thanks for the great reminder I will keep it up Plus to know 3 months is max heal time I plan to be careful till then indeed Thank you I love your smile through this video 🙂
@Jamie5633 Thank you for your kind words and thanks for taking the time to comment! So glad this helped you. Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery! 🙏 💖
I am now 8 weeks post hysterectomy abdominal surgery currently doing 1 to 2 hrs walk each day. Hope this is ok. Completely forgotten I went through surgery
Yolanda..seen you just had your surgery hope your recovery is going well.remember don't try to over do it I also had a fully hysterectomy with both ovaries and cervix removed, and prolapse organs lifted back into place May 2nd. so I know getting back into the swing of things is slow going..take care and take it easy👍you got this
Wish I found this information when I had my hysterectomy 6 years ago. Perhaps I wouldn't have needed an incisional hernia repair 2 months ago. However this walking program is what I have done so far. Thank you.
I was walking for about 2 to 3 km at week 4, but hit a wall when I started going places on top of that. Starting week 5 back at how I felt around week 2. Learned my lesson to not overdo it anymore. Great video. I just want to get hiking, but looks like I have to readjust my wish list. Haha😊
@Grumpy In A Van Thank you for your comment! It's important to listen to your body and not push yourself too hard during the recovery process. I'm glad you found the video helpful and I hope it continues to guide you in your recovery journey. Remember, slow and steady progress is key! All the best to your recovery 🙏
Great advice, thank you so much for your expertise on this topic. I am on day 8 of my abdominal hysterectomy. I am slowly doing my walking and resting, having some serious issues with gas pain in my tummy and cramps in my butt area, had just 2 bowel movements since the surgery, hoping to get regular soon. Thank you...looking forward to more great advice from you 💝
@Sharon George _ yes constipation after hysterectomy is a very commonly occurring problem and it's often not well addressed. It can add to overall discomfort too. Some women use an osmotic laxative such as Mirlax or Movicol for the first 6 weeks post op - check with your pharmacist or doctor rather than becoming constipated which is quite preventable. All the best for your recovery 🙏
I had a hysterectomy 3 days ago. The first 2 days were fine. I was able to walk around and do more than I thought I could. The third day, I feel like I have been in a wreck and then being beaten. Everything hurts today.
I was terrified of the surgery but feel confident & hopeful now!❤❤
My surgery is 11/21 this was helpful 🙏🏾
@sammijeann9354 i was scared of recovery more than anything and the pain but I'm 2 weeks out and I feel pretty good, just sore. I also had the DaVinci robot and I'm so glad I did. Definitely do a light diet and Colace. I did not do colace before surgery and I should have. Definitely go for short walks, I paced my living room in 5 minute increments the first week, outside of normal activities and that helped (it's been cold and I didn't want to shiver). I wish you a safe and speedy recovery!
Just wanted to add that laughing hurt lol i told everybody to stop making me laugh! @@sammijeann9354
Exactly! You're spot on with this information, thank you and all the best for your recovery Dolores!
Yes and move your bowel before surgery. I’m 3 weeks postop n still not good 😌
I didn't have walks after miectomy, but had housework(cook, laundry).
I'm having the same thing I just got home from having a massive tumor in my abdomen that was in both ovaries removed and I'm only 17😢 so hearing that other people go through this helped a bit thank you 😭
I'm currently waiting on surgery for 35cm ovarian cyst. I'm large anyway so I've hidden it well. Dr has also recommended total hysterectomy as well.
Ma'am can you plz link it
I really need it
After how many days of tlh one can climb stairs?
That's what I thought, like wearing a Spanx that doesn't squash you to make you skinny, but just gently holds you shaped upwards of that makes sense, like Spanx a size up from vanity effect.
I disagree with the binder. Have one but Dr is against it cuz body depends on it and won't heal as quickly. Similar to back belts it weakens you once removed.
You need to get a
Medical one. They can cause prolapse if too tight.
Hope your recovery is going well 💐
How are you feeling after a year ? Mine is next week. I’m from College Station!
What is a water bubble?
Thank you, I am 2 weeks post op (Total Abdominal w/ovaries removed) and walking has been so beneficial for gas pain relief and mood lifting.
I'm so glad to read this! All the best Kimberly 🙏
Hello my mom will go through this surgery
What are the things i should do for her recovery?
Mine is 5 days ago.
Mine is 15,days
Bless you, hope you're fully recovered. Very young to go through that alone 😒 xx
Hey, MN Hammond, hope you recovered well. It isn't easy going through a surgery at any age and to go through such a surgery at such a young age and that too alone must've taken huge courage. Wish you loads of luck and love.
Hi hope you recovered well. I’m sad that you had to go through such an ordeal a lone😮. But glad ur little brother helped you. I’ll be with my 17 son.
Hi
Can you please share your experience with the general anesthesia and post op pain? I am pending this type of surgery and nervous about anesthesia and post op pain - I had a c section 27 years ago and the pain was sooo unbearable
Thank you for sharing your story. I will have my surgery in Independent Hospital London. I am very stressful and afraid of pain after surgery as i have read many story : how 's hard and painful ....
On day five of post laparoscopic hysterectomy. I’m finding that Michelle is absolutely spot on with how important it is to ambulate.
Thanks so much for letting me know, I hope you're continuing to recover well and all the best!
Yeah for sure. No one explain better than her.
I’m almost 2 weeks post-Hysterectomy and I just found your channel. Thank you so much for all the advice to help us heal and recover from surgery. ❤
@Adriana J. Martinez My pleasure Adriana, thank you so much for commenting - wishing you all the best for your recovery! 🙏
Take care.🙏
I could not agree more. Another tricky topic has been sex with misunderstanding partners. More distressing to be honest!
Did you make it back to work at 6 weeks?
@@snowps1 yes
I had full laparoscopy hysterectomy done yesterday. Now I feel pain on my belly and gas. I have taken medication on time. Im just worried that after 6 weeks I am not able to come back to work physically fit as my job requires long hours of standing and lifting. I want to know if you experienced difficulties during your working hours

How are you now?
this is the best recovery video ive seen!
Hi how long take you to go 💩 🚽
Is my day 5 I have the movement but I can’t not go 💩
in May i will have surgery and i am so stressful. How do you feel after 3 months? Your body complete recovery ? Thank you
@@kameko839 im not completely recovered.
I'm a week post OP and I definitely overdid it with the walking already. 😢
This teacher is very good. Short walks - yes.
Ms. Kenway,
I have been helping may wife recovery from a hysterectomy. I found all the answers I needed and more. It was the "more" that really led me to get tips I would not have found otherwise. I appreciate your help. Thank you.
My pleasure indeed, thank you so much for taking the time to let me know and I sincerely hope your wife continues to have a good recovery!
Michelle you are so spot on. I am 5 weeks post abdominal hysterectomy and it was awful awful pain for me the first 3 weeks. Looking at your videos have helped me through this process. Thanks for all you do to help the ladies 😊
@keondriapootie my pleasure! I'm so glad this helps you, slow and steady - wishing you all the best for your faster recovery! 🙏
I'm five days post abdominal hysterectomy. Do you remember feeling extra emotional around this time? I'm 61. Thanks for anything you can tell me.
@@janetk.4379 yes Mrs.Janet very emotional at times for no reason at all. It will get better. Hormones just all over the place. If only we could get those hot 🥵flashes rectified. I think we all will be in top shape 😁
Thank you for replying. It's nice to not feel so alone on this journey.
Thank you!
@Katy Rawlins, LM, LDM, CPM I'm so glad these help, all the best for your recovery! 🙏
Thank you.
Hi Anne-Marie I’m so glad this helps you, all the best for your recovery
Thank you for this video, Michelle! I’ve watched it twice and it has helped me tremendously with my hysterectomy and prolapse repair recovery. 8 days post-op and starting to walk almost 10 minutes at a time 🙏 I am going to try the outdoors this weekend. Wish me luck!
@Lynette Estrada my pleasure! I'm so glad this helps you Lynette , slow and steady - wishing you all the best for your recovery! 🙏
@Jeanette Pinge My pleasure indeed and Warmest wishes for a speedy recovery for you 🙏
Thank you so much!
Agreed!
My hysterectomy will be completely out patient-no hospital stay at all!
Only in “Merica”. Hubbies from uk, his mom stayed 2 weeks in hospital after the surgery, here I get 12 hours.
I'm one week post-hysto and your videos are a HUGE help! Many thanks!!!
Great to read Kelly all the best for your recovery!
Drink water!!! This helps keep the blood “thin” & will force you to get up to walk.
Water , eat and stool softeners/laxatives!! They are your power 3!!! ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
36yrs old, day 3 post radical hysterectomy and walking when I can, drinking peppermint tea and cosmocol sachets work for me :)
Hii mam it is 8th day of my Laprascopic Hysterectomy done very nicely from 2nd day I have walked.am fine I like ur videos.thnx mam 🙏🙏
How are you? Can you give us 2 weeks post up update? I have surgery this Weds 3/27
I really like this lady I trust her advice and expertise

THIS WAS VERY HELPFUL. NO SURGERY YET. STILL WAITING, BUT I PLAN ON WALKING EVERYDAY FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. THANK U
Hi LeBron's all the best for your recovery! I'm so glad the information is helping you. Stay safe! 🙏
@@michellephysio I REALLY APPRECIATE IT. STAY SAFE AS WELL..
@@keondriapootie so agree! Pleased you’re on the mend x

Oh, iam very sorry for that. However, how do you felt after 1 years ? I will have my surgery in May.
@@michellephysio thank you for your advice as well its been a big help!
@FortheBudgies I have to have a urethral Stent put in as well...does it cause any pain?
I’m so glad I found you! I just had an abdominal hysterectomy + sacrocolpopexy. I’m 8 days post-op. I went into my surgery really well prepared (fit) but have to remind myself not to shuffle my feet and to stand erect, no hunching. I’m looking forward to doing more walking once cleared!

I shocked the nurses the day of surgery. I had three c sections so, when I had my hysterectomy 4 days ago, I was walking straight after waking up. 15 minutes at a time. This may sound weird but it was that as I was walking and working out before this procedure. I have to say it helped

Identify what you can reach without
bending or stretching up/down. These will be your "work spaces". Lay out EVERY
THING you might need in the room you will use it in.

Thanks
Thank you. This is very helpful. I wasn't sure how much walking is suitable so your specific information is perfect.
Catherine you are most welcome! All the best for your recovery 💜
Thank you. Great to get an actual time for what is regarded a short walk and how to increase as weeks progress. Day 12 now and going well but want to ensure I don't over do it either.
Great job Brenda, you're on track! All the best for your recovery 🙏
Thank you for your great advice on walking after surgery. I appreciate it very much.

Yolanda..seen you just had your surgery hope your recovery is going well.remember don't try to over do it I also had a fully hysterectomy with both ovaries and cervix removed, and prolapse organs lifted back into place May 2nd. so I know getting back into the swing of things is slow going..take care and take it easy👍you got this
Thanks! Your tips worked like magic.
@Tanika Chakraborty you're most welcome!🙏 ❤️ Thank you so very much for your kind donation, I really do appreciate this!❤️🌺
Wish I found this information when I had my hysterectomy 6 years ago. Perhaps I wouldn't have needed an incisional hernia repair 2 months ago. However this walking program is what I have done so far. Thank you.
My pleasure Cea!
Ma'am these are great tips! Very well explained. Very professional!

@marygracequirimit3543 You are welcome! So glad you find this helpful.❤️
@@michellephysio yes I will check with my pharmacist and doctor to see what is my best option. Thank you so much for your feedback 😊
I had a hysterectomy 3 days ago. The first 2 days were fine. I was able to walk around and do more than I thought I could. The third day, I feel like I have been in a wreck and then being beaten. Everything hurts today.
We’re same. I had my hysterectomy done 4 days ago. Hope for speed recovery ❤️
Same here ..I'm on day 3 and I feel horrible !
@@lizhdzloz2306 Heat helps the pain a little. And milkshakes are good too.
