Been looking into getting one now that they are around $80k. A ton of car for the money. Won’t go lower since it’ll be held above the Merc AMG GT which is at around $75k
Apologies for being late on this. I am picking up a 2019 Vantage this coming Saturday, this is a UK car being I live in the UK. I was also looking at AMG GTS but over here the Vantage and AMG seem on par with each other on the used market. My 2019 10,000 mile Vantage is £70 grand ... AMG GTS of similar year but way more mileage is about the same. I am coming out of a 2009 V8 Vantage so love the brand but not so much that other cars can be tempting. Over here Porsche are really common while Aston and AMG GTS are way more exclusive.
Memory lane! I had a 2020 Vantage from new for about 22 months. The exhaust was amazing. Any time I was out on track or autocross, everyone knew it was me without even looking. I'd come from a 991.2 GTS, so the car never felt like it handled quite as well as the Porsche. It was noticeably heavier and I could feel that on track and the road. Surprisingly, the suspension, even in the softest setting (sport) felt stiffer than the GTS in its standard setting. The AM was strikingly beautiful. Mine was a metallic blue (Mako) and it was a total conversation item. I couldn't go to the store or the gas station without being approached by someone who wanted to talk about it. Even in Southern California, you just don't see many Astons. The interior was gorgeous, much prettier than the Porsche. Of course, the steam-powered infotainment system (from Mercedes, circa 2010) was a drawback. I'm glad to see they've finally addressed that in the DB12. I hope that system makes its way into all their other models. BUT. And this is a big one. I live 60 miles from the nearest dealer, so it was always a production to take it in for service. In 22 months, it spent 47 days at the dealer for warranty service items. I had 4 check engine lights (all unrelated) and an airbag light. I discovered that the car will go dead if you leave the key in it for a couple of days. Any service visit took days, and I had to wait for almost 3 months to get replacement rear brake pads. When they came, they were hideously expensive - $1800+ for rear pads, parts only, and those were steel brakes! I can't imagine what parts for carbon brakes would have cost. Eventually it turned into a lemon law claim. To their credit AM stepped up and handled the matter entirely to my satisfaction. I didn't have them buy back the car, I just had them reimburse me for the monthly payments while the car was sitting. Eventually I went back to Porsche and now have a 992 Turbo S. It certainly doesn't have the looks or sound of the Aston, but the handling and performance more than make up for it. Nobody but the Porsche nuts even notice the car. Quite a change from the AM. I still love Astons and I may very well own another eventually. I'm fascinated by the DB12, although I haven't yet seen one in person. Maybe...
You described exactly why I am not a huge Porsche guy. I don’t do much of anything on a track where they shine. I went and looked at the DB12 and it’s really nice, I will wait a few years and get one after the initial depreciation hit. Just to let you know pretty much any car with a proximity key will die if you leave the key in it for an extended amount of time.
Would you pick this over a c8 convertible? I'm looking at my first sports car I'm a younger guy in my early 20s. Cant decide between the v8 vantage, c8 conv, or 991 carrera
That really depends of your personal preference. Me I would pick this over both of the other choices. You might want to get insurance quotes for all 3 and see if that influences your decision. I would pick this then Porsche then C8. The corvette is more common and you will always be able to get one.
Haven't driven a Vantage, but I test drove the DB12 in Monterey for Car Week this year. Super bad ass ride - I think they addressed a lot of your annoyances - Apple Car Play, Seat Adjustments, interior design... Really digg the Volante - looking forward to dropping the top. I think for the Vantage a straight gloss color would look better than an all custom wrap, but whatever your heart's leaning towards, do that!
Late to the party, but did/do you notice any “wheel skip” when turning the steering wheel at very low speeds? When I back out of parking spots and cut the wheel, if I go too far below ~5mph the whole care will bounce.
Yeah I noticed that if I turned the wheel fully in reverse going slow. My Aventador, 720, 765LT and 2009 Aston DBS. All do it as well. I just learned to not turn the wheel fully backing out slow. It didn't do it moving forward.
The new one they just announced they improved that a lot. It doesn’t really bother me much. I am adding apple car play and that will make it perfect for me. I usually don’t look at it or use it
@@Busterburg yes I just saw the new ones right after watching this. Such a major jump in interior quality. I’m probably going to wait it out. I am also looking at the new AMG GT and 911
Great video, thanks for the content. I'm planning on getting one of these later this year. Super random question - what hat are you wearing in the video and where did you get it? Looks pretty cool. Have a good one!
Guys I really need help!! I am looking to get a C8 or this car since they around the same price and I can’t tell which one to pick 🤦🏾♂️It’s for my TH-cam channel.
This video was made Nov 23 and people still consistently find and watch it. I'm a smaller channel with just over 3K sub's. Do a search for C8's and see what their views are. I feel like if it's for TH-cam your decision should be based solely off of views and subscribers. What is the potential market? How hard will it be to become a big channel in that market? I picked the Aston due to the heritage of the brand and a world wide audience, along with what I thought would be a market I could grow in and become a leader in.
I think the new one will push the prices of these down a bit in about a year when they come out so if you are ok with that go for it. I like the vantage more than the M4 and it’s a ton of fun to drive
I have a beautiful 991-1 gt3 Rs I p full system exhausted the car its insane Had a gorgeous Aston 2020 I really miss it It’s an extremely special car and I can tell you that owning both of them the Aston is equally as awesome as the gt3 Rs
I really liked the GT3RS when I looked at them the ones in my price range just didn’t have enough of the exotic look for me and what I wanted at the time. I can see how they are amazing cars though. So far I am loving the Aston.
Valuable info particularly to tall guys like me, thanks! Loved to see you test driving the new sl63 amg and getting your comparison of that to your vantage on sound, handling, roominess.
I have a previous gen vantage and you can put it in neutral by pulling both paddles simultaneously, and you can upshift from neutral or reverse with the + paddle. The only thing you need the button for is to engage reverse. Is it not like that anymore?
I would like to buy this car, what mileage should I buy at and what’s the max price I should pay and what are the most expensive things known to go out mechanically on the car, if I drove it only on the weekends would it last at least 140k or is it pretty much done at 100
The price is going to depend on the options the car has. I always try to get low mileage but that makes the car a little more expensive. Service price depends on if you have a third party shop that can work on them. They are AMG V8 engines so I think they are reliable
I have a suggestion about your first annoyance (the memory seat controller): get the shorties who drive it to put the seat back to where it should be, coz it’s YOUR car!
@jasongabb1671 I liked driving mine in the most aggressive mode it was more responsive. Also if it goes into limp mode it’s usually because the battery was a little low they don’t like that pull over and cycle the ignition on and off 8 times to reset it. It’s best to keep a battery maintainer on it
@user-em5hn9iz1n I actually just sold it and my 720 for a 765LT. The best part of these V8’S are they are AMG motors so a lot of shops can work in them so it should be cheaper for general maintenance.
There are plenty of AMG’s out there with those miles on them. I am not sure with these I don’t know if any have hit that yet. I will do my best and let you know.
I haven’t found anyone that owns one with high mileage to ask about reliability. You can call a dealership and ask the service department about the reliability.
Been looking into getting one now that they are around $80k. A ton of car for the money. Won’t go lower since it’ll be held above the Merc AMG GT which is at around $75k
Yeah I think they are the best bang for the buck.
Yeah but at an average $80k-$90k. That's $100k less than MSRP. I'm saving to get one since it's so cheap. You'd be a fool not to
Agreed. I can’t believe it doesn’t have CarPlay but otherwise solid car
You can buy a third party device to add it.

Aston Martin is sophisticated elegance
@NarasimhaDiyasena it’s so much fun
How much attention or thumbs up do you get with this car versus the 720s?

About the same either way mostly guys.

I will see if I can track one down to test drive.
I’m 6’6”. Can I fit in it comfortably?
@ChrisMenendez609 I think you would fit no problem.
The bottom right wrap you showed with the dark green in matte would look dope. Might need a wing tho so idk how you feel about that
Maybe a wing eventually. The green is nice just not as crazy as I wanted. I think the one I chose is perfect.
I would just wrap it in a darker silver to highlight the curves. Maybe with less gloss.
Silver definitely is the Aston signature look. I was seriously considering a stealth ppf.
how's the auto gear box NOT in manual mode? I've heard pretty bad. your thoughts?
It wasn't horrible at all I drove in it over half the time and didn't have any real complaints.

It has the optional sports exhaust.
I have a previous gen vantage and you can put it in neutral by pulling both paddles simultaneously, and you can upshift from neutral or reverse with the + paddle. The only thing you need the button for is to engage reverse. Is it not like that anymore?
It wasn’t on mine. So either something was wrong with mine or they don’t have it anymore. Maybe the redesigned one for 2025 has it again.

No options? Astons are the most customizeable cars made! Nice and fair review though, I am on the hunt for a high spec, much loved low mile manual!
I had a 2009 DBS manual it was amazing.
Fab review, pick up mine on Monday. How do you shift from automatic to paddle shift mode, you mentioned a button on the console? Thanks Jason.
Just start using the paddles. If you want to go back to auto push the drive button. Enjoy it’s an amazing car.

Matte silver gray
I ended up doing a crazy printed wrap for now when I get tired of that though I was thinking of just doing the stealth PPF
Use the colour of your sunnies
