As an automotive engineer, I can 100% say that cleaning/washing is indeed considered in development, especially when it comes to spots that tend to hold water. As far as wheels themselves go, it's a tradeoff between being easy to clean, and maintaining the stylistic intent of the designers. Most of the time, the designers win.😅
From a VAG Designer i can say, it is not even a topic for us designers@@NarcFreedom . Most of the time the Color & Trim department is focused on continueing the design philosophy and reinterpreting the brand symbolism. For EV's the CV value is priority but not the cleaning ability. 😬
Absolute 100% on what Mike said about taking photos of cars, so many “ photographers”, think they have to have the latest and greatest. If you enjoy taking photos of cars, just start taking photos and see where your creative mind goes
Mike started to hit on one of my favorite topics and that's that an iPhone Pro is a very powerful photo and video creation tool! That phone and a little foundational knowledge on composition, lighting, social media best practices and you can really get some good stuff. If you're doing video content an iPhone Pro and a Shure MV88+ microphone can't be beat as far as bang for buck.
tip ..i find using a microsilk glass towel on piano black surfaces after I polish doesn't return scratches to the panels. so you're not worrying about chasing fine scratches again.
That trick for cleaning windows in a new car answered why my windows were clean for about week then would get spotty, thanks for another tip on cleaning and another great video!!
needless to say i didn't know about the foggy glass thing and why it's better to take car pictures from the bottom. like, as mike have said, it changes the way you see a car completely, that's awesome! oh and the detail was perfect as always
I have detailed Aston Martins back from the DB7 onwards, they arent the fastest or the most reliable, but their designs are some of most beautiful in the car industry
I love to see that you don't underestimate IPA. From my personal experience I highly reccomend you Gyeon's Prep. It is not so aggresive and because of it's indgredients way more effective. All the best from Poland.
Another great detail Larry thank you for the window cleaning Great little learner& understanding why it's always an ongoing challenge you dedication is endless thankyou
Awesome ride Larry. Auto designers don't give a rip about how the vehicles get cleaned. They make them look great, we make them clean and looking great again! ✨️
Figured I'd chime in as someone who has extensive experience sanding, buffing, and polishing actual pianos with automotive buffing products. Historically piano finishes were lacquer based finishes which were quite soft. The "piano black" of today is actually polyester and is quite hard in contrast to lacquer. It holds up well to scratches, but is quite brittle and not very impact resistant. I use Rupes products to buff pianos after becoming more familiar with the brand after watching your channel! Previous that to that I was using 3M products.
Totally agree about 'busy' wheels! I had 21 spoke on my MG ZT190 and they were a pita to clean! I've been using that drying technique you showcased a few years ago. I have a couple of MF that only get used for drying purposes
Larry, Why do you wash the car then take it for a drive? Wouldn’t you want to drive it then wash it to avoid the chance of getting it dirty? Love your content!
With tinted windows, can you use the window cleaning method you show here? I just bought a 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback and I'm about to do it's first wash, and I'd love to give the windows a good clean but it came with tint.
If you’ve had the tint longer than a couple days you should be fine. As long as you’re not using ammonia based cleaners and not rough with a squeegee the tint should hold up. Most automotive window cleaners have isopropyl alcohol in the mix
I recently concluded Aston was probably Englands best sports car brand, with other more established UK brands leaning more towards the luxury carrage sector..
Larry you suggested to use a spray wax as a touch up/water wipe/wash QC, before you apply regular wax? Doing so would make the hardcore wax not stick as well because of the wax particles in the spray wax applied beforehand. It would be wasting your good/more expensive/longer term product if done like this.
I lovvveeddddd my Vantage V8. Still one of my favorite cars I've owned to this day. The new ones are so much better though, this is a great car to pickup second hand as they drop like rocks within 2 years
Is it okay if the hydrate lubricant is not applied evenly to cover the entire microfiber towel when drying the vehicle? Would this still scratch the vehicle's surface?
I would assume coverage of the whole towel would decrease the chances of love marks. However, what really reduces the chances of damage is the fact you are using lubricant and that the vehicle is in clean condition when drying. If it was me I would opt to have an even coverage but wouldn’t overthink it. Let me know what you think.
This glass cleaning method will hopefully help with my vape covered windows. I've tried absolutely everything even steam, apc, and magic eraser all in one. It sorta works just too much effort and time for something that's going to come back in a few days. Thanks Larry!
Hello can you show a car that need's preparing for winter seasons ? I would love to see your tips and tricks on how to protect your car from salty road's and stuff. I am realy interested at what products you would recomend to use.
Hi, I’m in the middle of repainting my car, using 2k Porsche crayon grey acrylic high gloss finish… how long after painting should I leave it before washing/ polishing? Thinkin of using that clear film to profit as well if you can recommend products ? Done my car to advertise my business
If they’re considerate over wheel cleaning they would be considerate for the mechanics working on it. Seeing as how they don’t care about them I don’t think they would bother with the ease of washing the rims. IMO
I would assume not. Hydrate is designed to leave a thin layer to add some protection between washes and to add some shine. If we are talking what will remove polishing residue, diluted isopropyl will for sure do the job. I get what you mean though, you do want to reduce any chance of scratching.
I also wonder about "cleanability" as a design factor. Yes, with the wheels ... but really everything. First noted this when detailing a Mercedes 560SL, where the lower interior windshield corner is blocked by the driver instrument cluster. How hard is it going to be to clean the inside windshield of a Cybertruck? Painted areas inside air ducts, why would you do that? That's also why every car I've ever owned has been debadged, as long as it's a sticker badge that is.
You certainly have the gift of the gab and are a master of what you have great passion but honestly you do dribble on some times it's car detailing not rocket surgery....great marketing 👍🙂
Can you speak more to avoiding hard water spots as someone with basic tools at home. No matter what I do I can’t avoid spots. The water in Utah is very hard. Thinking I need some kind of filter on my hose but don’t know which actually do a proper job.
Thats amazing technique ty for sharing Mike.. Whoa thats work in it of itself.. Take a milion pics just for the final top best couple or make one chopped😲😳😁❤❤
I work in the Jaguar Land Rover design department and can tell you, designers don't think about how easy allows are to clean. It's the absolute absolute last thing they'd think about 😂

VAG must have a different philosophy. 😂 Ours have liked to let water in and hold it.
From a VAG Designer i can say, it is not even a topic for us designers@@NarcFreedom . Most of the time the Color & Trim department is focused on continueing the design philosophy and reinterpreting the brand symbolism. For EV's the CV value is priority but not the cleaning ability. 😬
@@BlockedMindit’s unfortunate because all ours leaked water.
as a luxury automotive engineer i can say for wheels it's not even considered 😂
Absolute 100% on what Mike said about taking photos of cars, so many “ photographers”, think they have to have the latest and greatest. If you enjoy taking photos of cars, just start taking photos and see where your creative mind goes
The science behind all these cleaning techniques are amazing. Thank you educating your viewers. Amazing video
That has to be the prettiest green I've ever seen!
Wow! Just used that alcantra care technique on my steering wheel and holy cow, I’m in love. Thanks!

Dropped everything I was doing to watch the master do his thing as soon as I saw the notification!
Iconic car/driver Magnum PI and Ferrari 308, Duke Boys Charger, Knight Rider Trans Am and Bandit Trans Am
I’m amazed every time he gets a car to another level of clean he goes and drives them before anything else, like a photoshoot.
Man, that car is gorgeous! I love the styling and color.
Very cool that so many manufacturers support your business
I enjoy the combo of detailing + photography tips.
Not even watched this but can’t wait for the blush to be applied urgggh love ammo
Absolutely agree with your wheel comments

This shade of green and Isle man from BMW are 🔥🔥🔥
I have detailed Aston Martins back from the DB7 onwards, they arent the fastest or the most reliable, but their designs are some of most beautiful in the car industry
Absolutely, A modern day Aston on the show!
I love to see that you don't underestimate IPA. From my personal experience I highly reccomend you Gyeon's Prep. It is not so aggresive and because of it's indgredients way more effective. All the best from Poland.
Tight steering. Awesome. That’s old school BMW type of steering. Love it
Loving that paint color! It’s very rare to see Larry do a Wash & Wax but the Rupes polisher needed a break 😊
Love that color!
3:20 have you seen those insane 3d printed titanium wheels, because I assure easy cleaning them is not a concern
Capturing perfection in motion!
Another great detail Larry thank you for the window cleaning Great little learner& understanding why it's always an ongoing challenge you dedication is endless thankyou

that is one heck of a crazy car and another great vid man
Awesome video Larry, ive been detailing for about 5 years now and you taught me a few new things in this video!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Love your content. Always look forward to a new video.
Totally agree about 'busy' wheels! I had 21 spoke on my MG ZT190 and they were a pita to clean! I've been using that drying technique you showcased a few years ago. I have a couple of MF that only get used for drying purposes
I'll consider this video your birthday present to me, thanks Larry! Love the videos!
Happy Birthday!
Sweet ride and look forward to new episodes...more car details!!
Wow, glorious as usual Larry, great work !
Just another cool video to relax after a fine, but busy day 😊. Thx!
Enjoy!!!
Nice Aston, nice green paint. 👌👍
Amazing job mate, well done!!!
Larry, Why do you wash the car then take it for a drive? Wouldn’t you want to drive it then wash it to avoid the chance of getting it dirty? Love your content!
Awesome guest 🔥🔥
What a beautiful car this Aston Martin!
Beautiful car! You did it justice! 💯
Love my F1 Edition, great video Larry!
Wonderful car enjoy!

Hasn’t been owned by a UK company in a very long while. Ford was the major shareholder and now from 2020 it’s Mercedes.
All the talk of the F1 Vantage, and no mention of that gorgeous Aston racing green paint.

Doing so would make the hardcore wax not stick as well because of the wax particles in the spray wax applied beforehand. Hmm. I may just have to paint my '64.5 Mustang, that color. I love it.
Nice video Larry 😊
Dude's washing the F1 Safety Car like it's just another Tuesday! 😳
Hi Larry
Amazing job
As always
Congratulations
Beautiful car. My ZL-1 also has 20 spoke wheels, and they are really tedious to clean.
I lovvveeddddd my Vantage V8. Still one of my favorite cars I've owned to this day. The new ones are so much better though, this is a great car to pickup second hand as they drop like rocks within 2 years
Agreed! Vantage has always had perfect proportions
Loooove this thing, gorgeous colour too 😍😍
the bandit trans am, the duke boys' charger, how did y'all not think of those!
Is it okay if the hydrate lubricant is not applied evenly to cover the entire microfiber towel when drying the vehicle? Would this still scratch the vehicle's surface?

Will the car not get dirty when you drive after you detail ? Genuinely curious 🤔
Another great video Larry. Awesome storyteller as always. Blush made that piano black just incredibly deep.
Thanks for teaching us some cool tricks to look for and use.
WELL, I'll Never Own onea those Car's. Great Job "L" and good tips on Photo Shoot's. I Like the Color Too.
Beautiful car. Love the color.
This glass cleaning method will hopefully help with my vape covered windows. I've tried absolutely everything even steam, apc, and magic eraser all in one. It sorta works just too much effort and time for something that's going to come back in a few days. Thanks Larry!
This is wonderful ❤
Lovely car.
Hello can you show a car that need's preparing for winter seasons ? I would love to see your tips and tricks on how to protect your car from salty road's and stuff. I am realy interested at what products you would recomend to use.
I have a bunch of video on this most recently my Macan GTS and Audi R8 Resto
What is your thoughts on driving gloves for daily owners wanting to keep their Alcantara wheels in good shape?
At that price, the owner will never clean it by itself.. haha
Re the wheels: I'm pretty sure that, as long as they fulfill their mechanical brief, making the car more saleable is the only consideration.
Hi, I’m in the middle of repainting my car, using 2k Porsche crayon grey acrylic high gloss finish… how long after painting should I leave it before washing/ polishing? Thinkin of using that clear film to profit as well if you can recommend products ? Done my car to advertise my business
And what lens you using for car shoots with the Nikon z7ii ?
Kool video. Just not into newer car/trucks. Totally understand that you clean several vehicles a year. 🚗🚗🚗
If they’re considerate over wheel cleaning they would be considerate for the mechanics working on it. Seeing as how they don’t care about them I don’t think they would bother with the ease of washing the rims. IMO
Hi Larry, I can tell you designers never think about maintenance unless it's a technical design standard and mentioned by engineers haha!
Dumb question?? How do you get scratches out of an old ‘88 Corvette glass? Someone used a scotch brite bad or something before me owning it!! TIA
I would really like to see you do a video with Derek at vice grip he has a T type that would be an awesome video for both of your Channels
This dude can sense invisible molecules in the car
considering the design of some bbs wheels... yeah "they don't care about us" stuggling to clean them !
Whee leather gloves to drive, protect the wheel and ensure better grip?
Hey, Larry: ever used hydrate as a wiping aide while removing polish residue from softer/ revealing painted surfaces?
I would assume not.
Hydrate is designed to leave a thin layer to add some protection between washes and to add some shine.
If we are talking what will remove polishing residue, diluted isopropyl will for sure do the job.
I get what you mean though, you do want to reduce any chance of scratching.
I agree with the spokes thing. If you've ever done a 2023 f-250 super-duty those wheels are horrible.
What about using a suede brush for the alcantara.?
Could you use the blower to get rid of the left over dusty polish on the wing instead of “wiping”?
I also wonder about "cleanability" as a design factor. Yes, with the wheels ... but really everything. First noted this when detailing a Mercedes 560SL, where the lower interior windshield corner is blocked by the driver instrument cluster. How hard is it going to be to clean the inside windshield of a Cybertruck? Painted areas inside air ducts, why would you do that? That's also why every car I've ever owned has been debadged, as long as it's a sticker badge that is.
Would a ceramic coating on the wing help with the 'love' marks?
What kind of pressure washing gun is that?
You certainly have the gift of the gab and are a master of what you have great passion but honestly you do dribble on some times it's car detailing not rocket surgery....great marketing 👍🙂
Master of what you do *
A dream car..wow :)
Can you speak more to avoiding hard water spots as someone with basic tools at home. No matter what I do I can’t avoid spots. The water in Utah is very hard. Thinking I need some kind of filter on my hose but don’t know which actually do a proper job.
lovely car, amazing detail, great video.
so do detailers check for self healing abilities of paint at a certain temperature and wavelength spectrum? i suppose they dont obviously.....
Wow.. FANTASTIC 👀🍓💪
👍Thanks to you both for the good CAM & LIGHT TIPS 🏆
..and IF I had a car, I would buy your AMMO.. ✅
The Bob Ross of detailing
Thats amazing technique ty for sharing Mike.. Whoa thats work in it of itself.. Take a milion pics just for the final top best couple or make one chopped😲😳😁❤❤
Chuck Norris and the Black 911 in Good guys wear black began my love affair with Porsche!
Nice car
I work in the Jaguar Land Rover design department and can tell you, designers don't think about how easy allows are to clean. It's the absolute absolute last thing they'd think about 😂
i have a 2001 bentley arnage t that has been sitting in my driveway for 5 years. it runs well, paint needs work. interested in making a video?
I would like to know how much this man water bill is, at the end of the month
Notification Squad!🔥🔥🔥
