Gael is definitely unique. A rapid fire crossbow to break poise, the super tiny poise break duration. Hes so cool
Well, Gael uses poise instead of stance, meaning that just like player characters, he cannot get stance broken for a crit but staggers to basically every hit that has a little weight behind it.

Gael's eyesight is too good man, he spot him like from very far
Lore accurate Gael
The biggest issues are that he's missing his first phase, he isn't teleporting, he doesn't seem quite as aggressive as the original, and of course the constant animation cancelling. Aside from those factors this is a very impressive recreation, wouldn't take much more to make it perfect.
Not exactly sure how the phase change would be implemented, since he also has a cutscene transition (aka cutscene that doesn't exist in er)
sadly, Gael phase1 to phase 2 actually uses an actor swap instead of an animation, might not be possible to make that happen
@@LAF0NT Despite not being a programer myself id say it could most deffinetly be possible, yet since it is time consuming garden of eyes seems to be focusing more on releasing new bosses at a fast phase it seems they will only polish gael and the rest of the bosses once his expansion is over. @@LAF0NT Beastman and Maliketh do the same thing, shouldn't be too hard to load up Gael 1 then Gael 2-3 after the other is beaten.
Even with way less stats than that of an elden ring end game boss and a damage type that almost every boss is resistant to ( holy) , gael still achieved a lot of victories
He still lost to Rennala phase 1 doe
@@tchoythao1730because thats a gimmick boss
@@tchoythao1730almost every boss fails that, that's like saying that a boss failed a puzzle room because they can't interact with the necessary objects to solve the puzzle, no ai in the game know that you have to kill specific enemies to make renalla vulnerable.
It’s no wonder no dares attack Rennala. That mechanic is bullshit.
Unless he was intentionally adjusted by Garden (or whoever ported him over), he actually doesn't deal any Holy damage; Dark Souls 3 had no Holy damage, so instead his Rings of Light spell just deals physical damage (probably why it seems to still be effective well into the late-game, where bosses are mostly Holy resistant).
Besides Gael not being able to either do his spinning or jumping attack and instead just going into the stance and then canceling it, he's was brought over wonderfully. With those attacks working, i think he beats fights like Godfrey a lot more consistently

Watching this made me realize, Godfrey is just reverse Gael. He fights like a proud warrior before reverting to a primal bloodlust.
Gaels blue lighting plus the lasers and red lighting of the Dragonlord fight were quite impressive to look at, like what you'd expect a lore accurate fight to look like
This port over is a bit weird since dark damage was one of the best damage types in ds3, since it get's converted to holy his damage output is definitely a lot worse. He also cancels his lunge and spinning attack sometimes(idk the reason?). His damage output would be way higher if he always used it. Besides some (expected) issues, the port over is insanely good.
He cancels his spining and lunge like 90% of ðe time. Ðis is stacked against him.
dark being converted to holy also applies to his defenses btw, and since he has high dark resist bosses like radagon and elden best dealt somewhat low damage to him, hence why he was able to clutch that fight. on top of that his cape / skulls are only a minor part of his dps, most of it is physical (including his discus attack). i'd argue the dark -> holy conversion benefits him more than it hurts him overall
I disagree. Destined Deaþ melts him.@@pierrebaron6295

His AI is a bit rough
not been able to teleport and canceling his attacks and lunges most of the time really hurt his performance here not too mentioned his dark attacks probably deals holy damage which most end game bosses have high absorption to.
He could have won in his fight with maliketh if he lunge instead of canceling his attack at the end of the fight
Not if he had the same stagger time as ER bosses. He'd get destroyed
@@mstirlz ok bro, who asked?

Not sure man
In that case we will need to change his numbers to elden ring numbers and he already defeated most of them with lower health, damage and very buggy AI.
he is usually aggressive enough to kill even midir a boss that cannot be stagger and can stagger gael with every hit.
his poise is low (98) even in elden ring numbers and he doesn't have hyper armour on attacks like elden ring bosses (looking at you malenia) so he doesn't have that much of advantage if anything he is in disadvantage for most of the fights.
@@snsbsbsbdnsjdvsbsjzjv7870the only reason he defeated midir is bcoz he got insanely high Dark damage reduction like 80% in phase 3 i think...and his lightning damage counter midir perfectly...here tho...his lightning seems to deal only 1 or 2 damage

Gael looks so incomplete without the rampage attack
Yeah he is missing the stamp + spin attack too. Maybe the ludicrous buff to the crossbow makes up for it.
Well it is early access after all
Gael did better than I expected but some of these fights were too close and could've gone either way. As usual, Malekith, Malenia, Mohg (with nihil) are just too op and as for Elden Beast, the falling stars deal too much damage. Gael sneaked out a lucky win there.
Maliketh sent half of his projectiles into a pillar and still won
@@glorytoukraine5524 Maliketh is pretty much the equivalent of Nito. Death is just sooo OP especially when he can shoot Death from a distance.
Maliketh ain't too OP. He has low poise and only uses death at half health. That's fair imo

Hella buggy. And understatted.
I’d love to see this with aldrich givin their arrow rain attack is one of the highest damaging moves a boss can do
I can see Rennala surviving this, she is small and magic resistant
Especially considering how Pontiff survived it
Gael is worthy of being Elden Lord, confirmed
5:23 the way he walks out of this explosion. Absolute Gigachad.
Gael: you really think you can kill me with that attack
I was honestly kind of impressed with his pathing in renalla’s room, I didn’t think he’d ever go for the second shield boy
Gael just hanging there tanking Radhan’s meteor was epic
Something feels really off from Gael he can't do the spinning combo or teleport and jump attack
5:13 does this mean that Leonard still is capable of receiving damage while underground? That's interesting
Gael is weirdly buggy unlike the other DS3 bosses that were brought over, aside from him canceling some of his attacks he also seems to miss his absurd stance damage? either way though I kinda wish he was given more time in the oven if that makes sense, he seems a bit rushed
Really rushed.
the stance dmg is done right though. he had pretty weak poise dmg in ds3 to the point that you could poise him with a straightswords weapon art
Gael does low stance damage, watch any Gael vs Yhorm video and you'll see never poise breaks Yhorm. Meanwhile Midir's fire will poise breaks Yhorm (and all bosses) instantly, his stance damage is insanely high.
Placi: “oh shit oh shit oh shit(uses strongest attack)”
Gael: “Weak”
I notice that the bosses and some spells don't register gael as an enemy. The bosses don't engage until attacked, and Gideon's phalanx doesn't activate at any point
If you notice you can hear the sound of a spell constantly being cast. It's likely though very unusual that most of the time, Gideon kept recasting his phalanx.
@@kurosutachibana6403 there was a pretty lengthy period near the end, where he was trying to cast triple rings and black flame ritual. The phalanx did nothing

Been waiting to see Gael mess up the lands between since I first beat Elden ring. I'm glad I get to see my favorite boss in action here, Awesome video bro.
Gael's moaning and wails sound effects are really needed, seeing that they're not there there's a bit of charm lost compared to his original boss fight (of course omitting his music).
Gael blasting Gideon with his machine crossbow during his monologue was hilariously disrepectful.
i swear the absurdity of some of these matchups never fails to crack me up with the music playing dramatically. for us its pure adrenaline for Gael, its just another tuesday.
Gael slapped Gideon like he owned him money
11:21 I know it doesn’t really do much but this just looks incredible
20:06 that grab evasion was just epic! And then the sword smash into roaring godfrey like "SHUT it"
Honestly, Gael did a lot better than I was expecting. Yes, he's a final DLC boss with the stats to match, but like Soul of Cinder a chunk of his threat comes from his sword attacks flinging you into the air or stumbling you. Not breaking your poise necessarily (although he does that a lot too), but just not letting you complete your attack animations if you try to go toe to toe. Other bosses don't have to worry about that as much, so this chunk of his power is stripped.
Although we do see what it would be like with Gideon, who spends part of his fight being air-juggled like it was Tekken.
Either way, it's funny to think about if Gael were around, he'd probably have been the first Elden Lord instead of Loux.
I dont think he can stumble a 13ft warrior with his sword, also the grab of loux didn't work either, even in grab gael broke loux poise with his cross bow (again). Totally weird match. If grab worked as expected, I dont think gael defeats hourah loux
Well, his stats are higher than SoC, but unfortunately ER's bosses scale higher.
@@anmolfrost
Don't forget that Gael's AI wasn't working 100% either. Several times he started to do things like his jumping sword swings or his airborne combo and animation cancelled those moves into... walking around. His teleport is also janky here too, almost completely removing his teleport behind surprise attack. These lead Gael to be less aggressive than he otherwise would have been.
That's not to say Gael beats Loux 100% of the time all the time, as it was a close match as it is. But to claim that "well this one thing hampered Loux so if it was fixed he'd totally win" without fixing up Gael's hamperings as well isn't going to help anyone. It's been shown in these boss vs boss battles that Loux can struggle to grab someone when they're leaping in the air or teleporting about; which is what Gael likes to do to players.
And let's not overlook Gael isn't getting his first phase either, that has a grab (or rather impale and throw, Malenia style) of his own. Honestly, Loux is facing the nerfed version here; Gael with worrying head injury.
There's something about seeing Gael, the living embodiment of the Dark Soul of Man and the antithesis of Gwyn, fighting tooth and nail against the Elden Beast, the inhuman embodiment of the Greater Will and the Golden Order, that feels so very right. Thematically, it's simply perfect...
(spoilers for the outcome below)
...and seeing him win against the Elden Beast just makes it feel even better. Truly, this was Gael's finest hour.
Gael clutched up at like 10hp and claimed the elden throne
As we all knew he would
He is a bit slow and clunky it seems like. Phase 3 in DS3 he is airborne all the time it seems like a faster. Also, when he does his tripple flip attack in phase three he usually shoots his crossbow and he didnt do that here. This was maximum effort and it brought back a lot of my anxiety fighting him across my multiple characters. One of the things I did not notice was that he coughs before he does his soul explosion. Maybe it was just allt he other ambient effects or the adrenaline from having gotten that far, but i never noticed that. I daresay that this Gael moves slower than the two handed ugs ringed knight users in ds3 and i am not sure that should be the case.
his attack speed is exactly the same in ds3. he's very slow in ds3 aswell. what's different here is that his spin and go airborne attack is bugged here sadly :l but his base speed and all that is the same as in ds3. he's one of the slowest swinging bosses in the series. he doesnt' cough in ds3, instead he moans. the cough is taken from morgott, as his own sound isn't in elden ring.
He's not slower, he's less aggressive, and really handicapped.
he also didn't do the triple jumping combo in his phase 2
