    Poor guy this Krayt - he stayed with the light enduring more pain that most people would do and still succumbed into frenzy. I smell a fail on Kenobi's side here - if he'd take the guy with himself, trying to speak to him and heal his mind instead of letting him go as he had nowhere to and becoming a bounty hunter.

      In Obi Wan's defence Hett had proved to be a violent and embittered individual perfectly willing to murder people who got in his way and a dangerous man who he had just publicly humiliated. Is that the sort of person you'd really want around? Especially when you are guarding what could well be the only hope the galaxy has of defeating Palpatine in the future.

    • @generalhorse493
      @generalhorse493 6 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      It also didn't help how Jedi of the era had a very hands off approach to mental health and were hard-lined against people with attachments.

    • @AeneasGemini
      @AeneasGemini 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@tiredjediknight3110 if he couldn't stick around to help him, then he should have just killed him, it would only get worse. However I don't think it would've taken too much to help Hett. Remember other than this event and Maul showing up briefly Obi Wan spent his time doing a whole lot of nothing and barely made contact with Luke at all. It wouldn't be too dangerous to let Hett spend a few months with him just to get his head right. Either way, leaving him was just plain irresponsible

    • @tiredjediknight3110
      @tiredjediknight3110 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@AeneasGemini No no no. Obi Wan's choices weren't and shouldn't have been limited to help Hett, potentially at great risk to both himself and the future of the galaxy as a whole or murder the at that moment helpless man.
      Kenobi may not have been interacting much with Luke on a personal level yet but he was the boys protector and allowing Hett to be in proximity to him would have been potentially disastrous.
      Hett was at this point bitter, violent, dangerous and had just been humiliated by Obi Wan publicly which had caused his permanent exile from the only people he felt he had left. That's a bad influence to have around the only hope the galaxy had not to mention he posed an immediate threat to Obi Wan's life.
      Obi Wan could not allow Hett to be too close to Luke, could not allow him to discover Luke and could not allow Hett any opportunity to harm either Luke or Obi Wan himself.
      What he could do though (and did do) was give Hett the opportunity to move past what had happened and redeem himself for his past actions. The fact that Hett didn't do that isn't Kenobi's fault nor is it his responsibility. Hett made his own choices.

      Imagine if you could make your own Star Wars movie. Would you want to have to work around decades worth of stories or would you want freedom to write your own story? If your answer is the latter, you would understand Disney’s desicons. The mainstream audiences or casual Star Wars fans, which vastly outnumbers the hardcores, care very little about the expanded universe and have only seen the films. Dismayed as fans may be, the descison makes sense.

    John Ostrander gave us the most authentic, best written, and most original star wars epic in the last decade. Star Wars LEGACY is the epitome of what the Expanded Universe does best, present stories that respect the lore and use it to create new stories that are so good they become a part of Star Wars lore itself. Well done with this EvanNova95.

    The saddest thing about Krayt and his life is that he warned Anakin of the dangers of the dark path, yet he ended up succumbing to it even more than Anakin ever did. He wanted revenge against the Empire and the two Sith Lords, Vader and Sidious, and yet he ended up becoming exactly like them.

    Can I just say that Drath Krayt has to be one of the coolest looking sith out there, he has to be my 2nd favorite dark side user that has so many layers to him from his time as a Tuskan, a jedi, Tuskan warlord, bounty hunter, a Yuuzahn Vong test experiment then finally becoming a sith lord. I mean man this guy had it rough and it's no wonder he became what he did, I reread the SW legacy comics a few months back and I just love the transformation of this character. I'm reading the old SW Clone Wars Legends comics now and he might not be in it much but the short time he is in it makes it a treat to see my favorite sith lord again before his fall.

      @@Orkman Well, in action they don't really do anything that the Jedi couldn't do.
      Seriously, the Jedi are seldom seen in the Legacy era but the Imperial Knights are almost always seen, mostly doing things the jedi could easily do. Sure Ossus happened but Krayt would no doubt get to the Imperials after his ascension (at least the ones who didn't willingly join the sith).
      They're supposed to be this sort of neutral middle ground. The Imperials aren't fighting for good so much as fighting for one man wanting to be Emperor, however they realize the need to ally with the Alliance and Jedi to stop Krayt. And how Roan Fel and Marasiah Fel represent the old vs the new and the possibility for change in authoritarian societies.
      They do try to make them stand out from the Jedi, but in practice they again, don't need to be there half the time and jedi could fill their (character) roles fine.
      The reason the One Sith are scary in how just scarily brainless and submissive they are, down to having the exact same lightsabers and tattoos for all members and would have to kill themselves on command. The Imperial Knights are supposed to be neutral yet they also have a thing for all members having duplicate armor and lightsabers. Hypocrites. Actually the one sith don't wear identical clothes now that I think about it.
      Plus outside of the emperor and his daughter, none of them have any actual personality. Outside Antares Draco who has an arc where he learns to stand for whats right even if it goes against the orders of the one man he's supposed to serve totally. And the fact he saved the galaxy by stopping the emperor from deploying Omega Red.
      Btw, their ideology of being light oriented but not strictly light like the Jedi and existing to serve one man as opposed to the force is a cool ideology, but they don't really delve into it. Also again, they're mostly just doing things jedi could just as easily do.

    Darth Krayt was a good villain, but Disney had no choice but to void the EU. there have been like a 100 EU books, that would be so constraining to try and write around. Yeah I always hated the fate of Jacen Solo, and it annoyed the hell out of me how Traviss handled a certain character that wasn't even hers. So on that point I am glad they are dismissing a lot of the EU. But that they have to dismiss the Thrawn Trilogy, the X-Wing Series and, for the most part, the Vong War, saddens me.

Wish you would have touched up on teaming up with Luke Skywalker to fight Abeloth. I loved how he stood outside the Jedi Temple and watched the Jedi and Sith fight, only to easily disarm the only Jedi that approached him and respond with the great line, "Not yet, Jedi," knowing that he will rule, but in his own time.
