I think it more depends on how it's happening. When you try to use conventional fighting against Savage it's always going to fail. Even Dooku felt that when he was distracted by Ventress and tried to block rather than deflect Savage. Obi-Wan also was beaten by Savage on his first try but by modifying his technique he was able to beat him quite easily.

EvanNova95 if you ever really want to make any fight truly fair with koon involved, you should to put both combatants in a place where they both need masks to breath, like putting him and kenobi in room of pure carbon dioxide, or some other transparent gas that forces both of them to wear a mask.

Having said that, and as you already know, I always agreed that Kenobi was ultimately the rightful victor. Overall, I highly enjoyed the video.
I have to admit, you've really convinced me that Obi-Wan's stronger in physicality and Force defense than I was led to believe. And I really appreciate your inserting his usage of Tae-Jitsu. We need all the info we can get to make a Versus video more balanced. Need I say that Qui-Gon Jinn suffered almost as much injuries and torture as Obi-Wan? You should read the _Jedi Apprentice_ series for info. Good video. I see Kenobi is criminally underrated by the Star Wars fanbase, saying that he's weaker than Vader, Dooku, and others, yet he showed the ability to hold his own against them and even defeat Vader. I like how you recognized Kenobi's abilities and strengths in this video.

Plo Koon vs Darth Maul. I think it would be highly fascinating since Maul considered Koon to be a worthy adversary Darth Bane vs Darth Nihilus Obi-Wan Kenobi vs Kas'im, the personal instructor of Darth Bane and recognized by Lord Kaan as the greatest swordsman in the galaxy at the time. It would also be nice to see a new character used. Obi-Wan Kenobi vs Kyle Katarn Or perhaps a team vs video something like GJ91's mace windu and obi-wan kenobi vs darth bane and darth zannah. My suggestion would be Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker vs Kyle Katarn and Jaden Korr (suggested this awhile ago but nobody has done it yet )

The issue with Koon's mask as opposed to Vader's was that their masks did different things, Vader was able to breath without his using the force because he was breathing the air he would have breathed normally and the force was compensating for the damage to his lungs, Koon's mask blocked out the Oxygen he couldn't breathe and without it he was like a human in an oxygen starved atmosphere: he couldn't get enough of the gas he needed to breathe
Makes me laugh when you completely brush aside plo's increased reflexes because of the force but his weakness is still counts even though the force increases your strength
Fantastic Video! I'm glad to have heard a second opinion on Kenobi's force shields, and it makes much more sense now, he doesn't just suck in that area. This video was great overall, and I have a much deeper appreciation for and understanding of Kenobi at the time of RotS. Even more now, I want to see Katarn vs Kenobi, two absolute TANKS that just keep freakin' going! Again, I'd like to see Mara Jade come back sometime as well as Bane, Zannah, and Malak. Two of my favourite Jedi, good arguments and a verdict that surprised me while at the same time made me admit that I was wrong in terms of the possible outcome... great video!!! Kenobi is my absolute favourite, but I really thought Koon would take this one. But Koons fights in the EU... seriously, taking on Ventress with one arm but losing to Oppress because he used the one major weakness of him? That brute using such a simple trick against the genius Koon? If someone just told me that I would laugh at him. Losing to Oppress because of such a little trick is like Einstein getting outsmarted by a carrot. Not that I do not see your point, I am just calling BS on the whole scenario.
Plo Koon would win, being a Master of Form V (Shien) he was the only person in history to defeat Yoda in a Lightsaber duel. Not only that, but he made a light side version of force lightning called electric judgement, a power Luke would master as grandmaster of the New Jedi Order. Master Plo was also one of the most martial and fittest Jedi of his era. That's why Plo would beat Obi-Wan in a duel to the death.

I disagree with a couple of things, but I do agree with the verdict overall. The thing that attracted my attention was the statement that Obi-Wan was the best at creative and subtle manipulation through the Force, Mace Windu dismantled a battle droid by removing all the screws in a matter of a second. This is both incredibly creative and highly subtle.

@@garji2477 agree. people are sold into looks. Like most say Alan Iverson was awesome. He was in fact the worst player to play the game. Gave up when he fell behind and was all about self statistics. A close second to Timmy was Scotty Pippin. No flash but rock solid playing his position textbook and could score when it counted.
Kenobi's essential fighting style sounds alot like his master Qui-Gon Jinn's philosophy of "living in the moment" . Kenobi seems to have adapted it better to a fighting situation though. That's great. That's how you should really want to be as a fighter. I just love how when he faced Dooku again the count just couldn't figure out how the hell he couldn't get one hit in, until it was too late. He was like, " oh shit. I done fucked up now" lol. Simplicity itself. Take only what is useful, and throw out the rest. Love it.

Heres a scenario What if Plo Koon, Shaak Ti, Obi Wan, KIt Fisto, Saesae Tinn and Kolar all at there prime Would vs ROTS Sidious Do you think it would make a difference or would they get blitzd still?
The Geyser Plo would probably get blitzed and die in seconds. Obi Wan and Ti would be able to hold out longer than Fisto did in the film, but would eventually fall once Sidious starts using his Force powers. The other three die just as quickly as before. Only Mace or Yoda had any chance at keeping up with ROTS Sidious, and the former only through Vaapad.
Ouch I didnt think in your point of view Plo would die....but yeah I dont know why but.... Also Shaak Ti and Obi I think would last but how long.....its beyond me.
The Geyser Plo tends to be a rather deliberate fighter. His reflexes are quick, yes, but I haven't seen anything in his fights to suggest that he is faster than Fisto or Tiin--and you saw what happened to them. Sidious would simply overwhelm him too quickly for endurance to be a factor. I think Kenobi and Ti would probably both hold out for a while longer than Fisto but not much more. 30 seconds to a minute at most. Kenobi's brickwall Soresu defense would stand for a time but once Sidious starts using TK or lightning he's done. Ti is fast and evasive but the strain of keeping up with Sidious' insane Force speed would overcome her and she would be cut down.

Oh c'mon! Obi Wan Kenobi is always underrated in every fight, and then he wins. He beat Darth Maul and he was just a padawan when he did that! That alone is amazing but his accolades don't stop there. He killed General Grievous and then he even went on to defeat Anakin Skywalker the chosen one. Theres almost no one that could beat Anakin Skywalker in a 1 on 1 fight and Obi Wan Kenobi did, and yet we're sitting here debating if Plo Koon could beat Obi Wan? When not even Anakin could.
+Travis Stefanski to be fair the only reason why Anakin lost was because he wasn't right in the head. That being said Obi wan is still one of my favorite Jedi's and Anyone would be hard pressed to find a weakness in his defense

Darth maul I say is by himself a better swordsman and equal in raw power in the force with malgus being with more variety. Adding savage would just gurentee a win
I would like to see a versus with Darth traya, but she is pretty weak, so find someone who would make a fair match. Also it would be cool to see characters from star wars rebels in versus. Finally your jango vs vizla was great, so more non force users would b cool. But keep a balance between force users and non force users. You go good stuff :)

Zeldorian Vladimir 1.Kenobi used the force more tactically, while Malgus, well..., is a blunt instrument. I don't see Malgus choke Obi-Wan to death, or ragdoll him, simply because all the Jedi he killed with the Force are not near the level of Obi-Wan. Though Malgus had more power in the force and probably is the more powerful one, this is balanced out by Kenobi's skill and tactic. Everything Malgus does, Kenobi does better, except the lightning, though it could be block by Kenobi's lightsaber. So, the negotiator barely get the edge for his force ability. 2. In term of duelling ability, well..., there is no question that Obi-Wan is the superior. Malgus's Djem So is text book, similar to Anakin's Djem So, and Kenobi would have no trouble content with it. Kenobi's personal style, with the combination of Shi-cho, Soresu, Ataru, Shien, Niman is perfectly optimized again an opponent like Malgus. Kenobi's hybrid style is like nothing Malgus has ever encountered, not to mention he held his own again an angry Anakin Skywalker with his powerful Djem So strike( remember, though Anakin was angry, his Djem So strike was stronger, faster, and Kenobi still stand there). Kenobi also has better tactical mind, he understands that a fight is never a goal in itself, sometime it's just a distracting tool, and best countered with a larger distraction. It's just too much for Malgus to handle. Obi-Wan Kenobi gets the edge And thus, I declear Obi-Wan Kenobi, the negotiator, the victor

Excellent video. I think this is the best video which describes Kenobi's true power in the force. I've always thought Kenobi hasn't had enough credit when it comes to his force powers. No one has gone into as much depth as you did to describe what Kenobi's force powers have achieved, such as his force repulse and his force crush. Also I am glad someone else thinks that Kenobi's force wall isn't weak. You've proved, through talking about the circumstances behind why Kenobi has been "rag-dolled", that Kenobi isn't a weak force user and I'm sure it has convinced many people that Kenobi is in fact a very strong and underestimated force user. I also 100% agree with the verdict. How many times do you think Kenobi wins? e.g. 8/10. Great video, one of my favourites, and I can't wait until your next one!

+Drew Thompkins This is a similar matchup as Kenobi vs Kyle Katarn. Kenobi is the Great Wall of China stopping Windu's dedicated Vappad offense. On the other hand Kenobi's offense isn't nearly enough to take Windu down. But once force abilities come into play, Windu takes it. Superior power+shatterpoint ftw.
I'm not so sure. With obi wan's nigh impregnable defense and mace's top tier offensive abilities, I could see the match up going wither way. at the most I feel strongly that mace would win by a tiny margin. by the luck of the end game, but I don't think personally it would end quite like that. both display supreme level skill with the lightsaber, and both possess incredible force abilities. I personally feel kenobi would win in the wnd, however at any rate they both are near even matches at the end of the day.
Drew Thompkins In a pure lightsaber duel, I totally agree with you. Overall, I don't and here is a more detailed explanation why. Windu simply posses more force power and overall superior force abilities. I did my own set of force power calcs and found that if ROTS Sidious is a 10, Windu is a 6, and Kenobi is a 4.5. Kenobi has awful passive tk barriers Mace can easily exploit and then there is the shatterpoint factor. An ability that grants Mace the ability to find the decisive weak spots in anything. This includes Kenobi's lightsaber def or the insight of his weakness against integrated physical+tk strikes. As duelists, they are basically equals. But as force wielders, Kenobi doesn't have it in him to take Mace down.
But you have to also consider that kenobi was able to match the force powers of Darth Vader in their fight, who was the prodigy of the order as well as sith of the time. not only that but his force repulse had so much raw strength that it blew the bounty hunter Durge to pieces and partially liquefied his body in an instant, and yet kenobi recovered from the strain from the technique in just about 3 seconds.
+Drew Thompkins The Vader fight is a tad tricky. Vader had raw power but was hampered by his emotional instability (recently, fell to the darkside killed his wife and fighting his master/brother to the death) not to mention he didn't properly develop his power, so his power isn't nearly as high as you would assume. As for the Durge feat, Mace Windu's casual force wave knocking over 100's of super battle droids makes Kenobi's feat look lackluster by comparison.
Darth Kenobi In sabers, Dooku is a tier above Obi-Wan, which is a margin. But Dooku is out of Obi-Wan's league with regards to Force abilities. Yeah Obi-Wan is better than Koon by a comfortable margin.
A TIER above Obi-Wan? You must be one of those people that listen to Nick Gillard. Well he's wrong. And he's also wrong about Anakin. Anakin was NOT a better duelist than obi-Wan. Obi-Wan was just as good as his apprentice. Obi-Wan is in the same tier as Dooku and Anakin

Umesh Narayan Not sure yet since I haven't yet heard from them, though I know how they all feel about this match up. Jen,Reti4, and Antoine are all in favor of Plo Koon, whereas GreyJedi91 and myself were more in favor of Kenobi. That is why this match up was such a big deal because whenever it was mentioned none of us could ever agree.

Bryan Spacegunner I would honestly think it would suck. As much as I love Plo Koon, his death was one of the most absolute during order 66. His ship blew up and crashed, not to mention Sha Koon felt his passing though their physic bond. While many complain about how Darth Maul survived, him doing so is not an Unprecedented feat. One of the fundamental natures of the dark side is to cling to life, hell the Sith Lord Simus used the force to keep on living even though he was reduced to a Head.
An enjoyable video with two of my favourite Jedi. On the question of Obi-Wan's Force shield, I think you make a good argument against the prevailing view of it being underpowered. However, the occasions that spring to mind of Obi-Wan defending himself well against a telekinetic attack are those when he actually anticipated it, such as when he countered Anakin's force push with his own on Mustafar, or when he and Anakin resisted Dooku's force push on Naboo. As such, while you may be correct to say Obi-Wan's shield is not as weak as commonly assumed, perhaps the passive shield he maintains isn't especially strong and his defensive capabilities in the Force are more the result of deliberate concentration?
Enjoyed this and glad you did a non-force battle last time. Would be interesting to see two Force adepts that use something other than lightsabers prominately. Maybe Mara Jade (Emperors Hand era) vs Aurra Sing? If you ever wanted to get REALLY out of your comfort zone you could try and do a dogfight battle. Dash Rendar (Outrider) vs Han Solo (Falcon).

I know that Dooku believed that mastering one form gave a person true mastery over any given one, he says in the jedi path that a master of one form can defeat a battle master. I don't agree with this statement as a lightsaber dullest with one form vs someone like Mace Windu who has mastery of all forms has the other hugely outclassed. Is it better to master just one form or all forms at once. P.S. you were right this video really is special. :) Can't wait to see Kit Fisto in action.

The issue with Koon's mask as opposed to Vader's was that their masks did different things, Vader was able to breath without his using the force because he was breathing the air he would have breathed normally and the force was compensating for the damage to his lungs, Koon's mask blocked out the Oxygen he couldn't breathe and without it he was like a human in an oxygen starved atmosphere: he couldn't get enough of the gas he needed to breathe
Makes me laugh when you completely brush aside plo's increased reflexes because of the force but his weakness is still counts even though the force increases your strength
Fantastic Video! I'm glad to have heard a second opinion on Kenobi's force shields, and it makes much more sense now, he doesn't just suck in that area. This video was great overall, and I have a much deeper appreciation for and understanding of Kenobi at the time of RotS.

Plo Koon would win, being a Master of Form V (Shien) he was the only person in history to defeat Yoda in a Lightsaber duel. Not only that, but he made a light side version of force lightning called electric judgement, a power Luke would master as grandmaster of the New Jedi Order. Master Plo was also one of the most martial and fittest Jedi of his era. That's why Plo would beat Obi-Wan in a duel to the death.

I disagree with a couple of things, but I do agree with the verdict overall. The thing that attracted my attention was the statement that Obi-Wan was the best at creative and subtle manipulation through the Force, Mace Windu dismantled a battle droid by removing all the screws in a matter of a second. This is both incredibly creative and highly subtle.

Kenobi's essential fighting style sounds alot like his master Qui-Gon Jinn's philosophy of "living in the moment" . Kenobi seems to have adapted it better to a fighting situation though. That's great. That's how you should really want to be as a fighter. I just love how when he faced Dooku again the count just couldn't figure out how the hell he couldn't get one hit in, until it was too late. He was like, " oh shit. I done fucked up now" lol. Simplicity itself. Take only what is useful, and throw out the rest. Love it.

Heres a scenario What if Plo Koon, Shaak Ti, Obi Wan, KIt Fisto, Saesae Tinn and Kolar all at there prime Would vs ROTS Sidious Do you think it would make a difference or would they get blitzd still?
The Geyser Plo would probably get blitzed and die in seconds. Obi Wan and Ti would be able to hold out longer than Fisto did in the film, but would eventually fall once Sidious starts using his Force powers. The other three die just as quickly as before. Only Mace or Yoda had any chance at keeping up with ROTS Sidious, and the former only through Vaapad.
Ouch I didnt think in your point of view Plo would die....but yeah I dont know why but....
Also Shaak Ti and Obi I think would last but how long.....its beyond me.

Plo tends to be a rather deliberate fighter. His reflexes are quick, yes, but I haven't seen anything in his fights to suggest that he is faster than Fisto or Tiin--and you saw what happened to them. Sidious would simply overwhelm him too quickly for endurance to be a factor.
I think Kenobi and Ti would probably both hold out for a while longer than Fisto but not much more. 30 seconds to a minute at most. Kenobi's brickwall Soresu defense would stand for a time but once Sidious starts using TK or lightning he's done. Ti is fast and evasive but the strain of keeping up with Sidious' insane Force speed would overcome her and she would be cut down.
Makes sense I cannot shoot blanks that are not there.

Oh c'mon! Obi Wan Kenobi is always underrated in every fight, and then he wins. He beat Darth Maul and he was just a padawan when he did that! That alone is amazing but his accolades don't stop there. He killed General Grievous and then he even went on to defeat Anakin Skywalker the chosen one. Theres almost no one that could beat Anakin Skywalker in a 1 on 1 fight and Obi Wan Kenobi did, and yet we're sitting here debating if Plo Koon could beat Obi Wan? When not even Anakin could.

Finally your jango vs vizla was great, so more non force users would b cool. But keep a balance between force users and non force users. You go good stuff :)

1.Kenobi used the force more tactically, while Malgus, well..., is a blunt instrument. I don't see Malgus choke Obi-Wan to death, or ragdoll him, simply because all the Jedi he killed with the Force are not near the level of Obi-Wan. Though Malgus had more power in the force and probably is the more powerful one, this is balanced out by Kenobi's skill and tactic. Everything Malgus does, Kenobi does better, except the lightning, though it could be block by Kenobi's lightsaber. So, the negotiator barely get the edge for his force ability.
2. In term of duelling ability, well..., there is no question that Obi-Wan is the superior. Malgus's Djem So is text book, similar to Anakin's Djem So, and Kenobi would have no trouble content with it. Kenobi's personal style, with the combination of Shi-cho, Soresu, Ataru, Shien, Niman is perfectly optimized again an opponent like Malgus. Kenobi's hybrid style is like nothing Malgus has ever encountered, not to mention he held his own again an angry Anakin Skywalker with his powerful Djem So strike( remember, though Anakin was angry, his Djem So strike was stronger, faster, and Kenobi still stand there). Kenobi also has better tactical mind, he understands that a fight is never a goal in itself, sometime it's just a distracting tool, and best countered with a larger distraction. It's just too much for Malgus to handle. Obi-Wan Kenobi gets the edge

Excellent video. I think this is the best video which describes Kenobi's true power in the force. I've always thought Kenobi hasn't had enough credit when it comes to his force powers. No one has gone into as much depth as you did to describe what Kenobi's force powers have achieved, such as his force repulse and his force crush. Also I am glad someone else thinks that Kenobi's force wall isn't weak. You've proved, through talking about the circumstances behind why Kenobi has been "rag-dolled", that Kenobi isn't a weak force user and I'm sure it has convinced many people that Kenobi is in fact a very strong and underestimated force user. I also 100% agree with the verdict.

+Drew Thompkins This is a similar matchup as Kenobi vs Kyle Katarn. Kenobi is the Great Wall of China stopping Windu's dedicated Vappad offense. On the other hand Kenobi's offense isn't nearly enough to take Windu down. But once force abilities come into play, Windu takes it. Superior power+shatterpoint ftw.
I'm not so sure. With obi wan's nigh impregnable defense and mace's top tier offensive abilities, I could see the match up going wither way. at the most I feel strongly that mace would win by a tiny margin. by the luck of the end game, but I don't think personally it would end quite like that. both display supreme level skill with the lightsaber, and both possess incredible force abilities. I personally feel kenobi would win in the wnd, however at any rate they both are near even matches at the end of the day.
Drew Thompkins In a pure lightsaber duel, I totally agree with you. Overall, I don't and here is a more detailed explanation why.
Windu simply posses more force power and overall superior force abilities. I did my own set of force power calcs and found that if ROTS Sidious is a 10, Windu is a 6, and Kenobi is a 4.5. Kenobi has awful passive tk barriers Mace can easily exploit and then there is the shatterpoint factor. An ability that grants Mace the ability to find the decisive weak spots in anything. This includes Kenobi's lightsaber def or the insight of his weakness against integrated physical+tk strikes. As duelists, they are basically equals. But as force wielders, Kenobi doesn't have it in him to take Mace down.
But you have to also consider that kenobi was able to match the force powers of Darth Vader in their fight, who was the prodigy of the order as well as sith of the time. not only that but his force repulse had so much raw strength that it blew the bounty hunter Durge to pieces and partially liquefied his body in an instant, and yet kenobi recovered from the strain from the technique in just about 3 seconds.
+Drew Thompkins The Vader fight is a tad tricky. Vader had raw power but was hampered by his emotional instability (recently, fell to the darkside killed his wife and fighting his master/brother to the death) not to mention he didn't properly develop his power, so his power isn't nearly as high as you would assume. As for the Durge feat, Mace Windu's casual force wave knocking over 100's of super battle droids makes Kenobi's feat look lackluster by comparison.

In lightsaber dueling, yes. that's kenobi's strong suit and he's almost as good at it as Dooku, if not as good.
In sabers, he's quite far above Koon though.
Darth Kenobi In sabers, Dooku is a tier above Obi-Wan, which is a margin. But Dooku is out of Obi-Wan's league with regards to Force abilities. Yeah Obi-Wan is better than Koon by a comfortable margin.
A TIER above Obi-Wan? You must be one of those people that listen to Nick Gillard. Well he's wrong. And he's also wrong about Anakin. Anakin was NOT a better duelist than obi-Wan. Obi-Wan was just as good as his apprentice. Obi-Wan is in the same tier as Dooku and Anakin
Awesome video! You had a thorough understanding of both fighters. Great to see Kenobi( My favorite Star Wars character) in one of your matchups. Your contention about his force wall was really well-argued and I'm hopeful that Kenobi will gain more respect as a force wielder. Just curious how do the rest of the Versus video makers feel about this matchup?
Umesh Narayan Not sure yet since I haven't yet heard from them, though I know how they all feel about this match up. Jen,Reti4, and Antoine are all in favor of Plo Koon, whereas GreyJedi91 and myself were more in favor of Kenobi. That is why this match up was such a big deal because whenever it was mentioned none of us could ever agree.

Bryan Spacegunner I would honestly think it would suck. As much as I love Plo Koon, his death was one of the most absolute during order 66. His ship blew up and crashed, not to mention Sha Koon felt his passing though their physic bond. While many complain about how Darth Maul survived, him doing so is not an Unprecedented feat. One of the fundamental natures of the dark side is to cling to life, hell the Sith Lord Simus used the force to keep on living even though he was reduced to a Head.
An enjoyable video with two of my favourite Jedi. On the question of Obi-Wan's Force shield, I think you make a good argument against the prevailing view of it being underpowered. However, the occasions that spring to mind of Obi-Wan defending himself well against a telekinetic attack are those when he actually anticipated it, such as when he countered Anakin's force push with his own on Mustafar, or when he and Anakin resisted Dooku's force push on Naboo. As such, while you may be correct to say Obi-Wan's shield is not as weak as commonly assumed, perhaps the passive shield he maintains isn't especially strong and his defensive capabilities in the Force are more the result of deliberate concentration?
Enjoyed this and glad you did a non-force battle last time. Would be interesting to see two Force adepts that use something other than lightsabers prominately. Maybe Mara Jade (Emperors Hand era) vs Aurra Sing? If you ever wanted to get REALLY out of your comfort zone you could try and do a dogfight battle. Dash Rendar (Outrider) vs Han Solo (Falcon).

What a fun ride this video was. "My lightsaber is ready" LOL what a great quote. It was really special to see Plo Koon, what a guy of many talents Evannova95 if you don't mind me asking I'd like to hear your opinion on something. I know that Dooku believed that mastering one form gave a person true mastery over any given one, he says in the jedi path that a master of one form can defeat a battle master. I don't agree with this statement as a lightsaber dullest with one form vs someone like Mace Windu who has mastery of all forms has the other hugely outclassed. Is it better to master just one form or all forms at once. P.S. you were right this video really is special. :) Can't wait to see Kit Fisto in action.
