You are like the radest dude ever. I'm actually expecting your clone wars review/opinion and your first impressions of rebels. This is just plain awesome btw, I love grievous and his story n__n
@@joekerUli if I remember correctly it was some form of grip or crush. Same episode as the fist fight against a droid army I think Edit: not the same episode
I think the "uncivilized" remark was to refer to the blaster not grievous. In the trilogy kenobi said that a lightsaber was a more elegant weapon, for a more civilized age. It was a call back to the original movie. That's why he sneerd at the blaster and tossed it away as he said it.
+CorndogMaker Yes I agree, in the ROTS if I remember correctly he says "So Uncivilized" at the exact moment he throws the blaster away, the camera shot is just showing Grevious' body.
Dark Jedi Thing I hated about Revenge of the Sith is how quickly Kenobi overcame Grievous and forced him to flee. I understand Kenobi was a great Jedi, no doubt. But Grievous was trained to hunt and kill Jedi and he was a master at it. In fact, I'd say he's right behind Darth Vader is Jedi kills. But Kenobi literally just did 2 swipes and Grievous' arms were gone and he fled.
He was doing what he thought was right, in a twisted way. His constant hatred and state of grief not doubt spawned this result. His vengeance fuelled by those of his people whose lives were claimed by the Jedi as a result of blind obedience to worthless bugs.
+Chaz Walser Actually no he wouldn't have been a good guy, or bad guy he would have simply been a bad ass warrior. However he hated the Jedi naturally and i doubt he would have taken kindly to them coming to his planet, he hated their guts, ritualized practices and devotion to the senate.
"How far is a warrior willing to go to achieve glory? Through the fires of war, many are willing to make whatever sacrifices are needed to achieve their goals. However, when does a warrior cross the line of morality? When does a warrior begin to crave power, not for the sake of others, but power for powers sake? How far will a warrior go, before he becomes the very embodiment of the evil he has sworn to destroy? This being is such a warrior. This is the story of corruption. This is the story... of General Grievous." Wow. That was some fucking awesome beginning narration. EvanNova95, you're a natural storyteller. Great job! :D
I hated Grievous for a long time. But now after seeing his past, i feel sad for him. But now, he's probably with his fallen comrades and his beloved wife in the after life. Rest in peace, Grievous.
***** Grievous uesd to be my Sisters (Princess celestia and Luna's) right hand man and my keeper when i was a an infant, and durring the war of equestria, i was taken to a safe place where i wouldn't get hurt, he took care of me and my brother, until the war was over... he was blamed for my parents Deaths (in which were the king and queen of equestria) and was then bannished from equestria forever. to this day i am still in search for the one that did this.
+Kurt Wagner What?!? But that doesn't make sense! I am the better warrior, the more intelligent, and lets not forget the impeccable perfectness of my style. (Given I have a robotic brain that should be assumed.) What is this "main character" stuff anyway. A battle is about strength, not importance.
I have always admired general grievous but now I can't help but to love him even more , I feel so sorry for him and can only feel anger towards the Jedi. While I was watching its weird how grievous's story makes u question who really is the bad guy him or the Jedi and Senate that Reyes to have him and his species killed.
Very very well done. This was an incredible appraisal of General Grevious. The only point in his life missing from this examination was his depiction in "Labyrinth of Evil." Most notably, his lightsaber duel with Mace Windu, where he successfully adapted himself to Vaapad. Not to mention he stalemated Windu in lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat, only being hindered when Windu cut a hole in the mag-lev's roof, tripping him up. Other than that, this was an extensive and wonderful look into Grevious' life.
This is something I didn't knew. I heard he fought Mace but to a freaking stalemate? The same Mace who is matched and surpassed by only three masterful lightsaber duelists? That's it. Grievous has officialy become my ultimate favorite character from the prequel trilogy.
Machowesker17 Kit's bulging black eyes indicated Palpatine. "They want to take him alive." The words had scarcely left his mouth when something hit the train with sufficient force to whip everyone from one side of the car to the other, then back again. The Red Guards were just regaining their balance when the roof began to resound with the cadence of heavy, clanging footfalls, advancing from the rear of the train. "Grievous," Mace grumbled. Kit glanced at him. "Here we go again." Hurrying into the vestibule between the two lead cars, they launched themselves to the roof. Three cars distant marched General Grievous and two of his elite droids, their capes snapping behind them in the wind, pulse-tipped batons angled across their barrel chests. Farther back, clamped by animal-like claws to the roof of the train, was the gunboat from which the frightful trio had been released. Without pausing, Grievous drew two lightsabers from inside his billowing cloak. By the time they were ignited, Mace was already on and all over the cyborg, batting away at the two blades, swinging low at Grievous's artificial legs, thrusting at his skeletal face. The lightsabers thrummed and hissed, meeting one another in bursts of dazzling light. In a corner of Mace's mind he wondered to which Jedi Grievous's blades had belonged. Just as the Force was keeping Mace from being blown from the mag-lev's roof, magnetism of some sort was keeping the general fastened in place. For the cyborg, though, the coherence hindered as much as it helped, whereas Mace never remained in one place for very long. Again and again the three blades joined, in snarling attacks and parries. Grievous was well trained in the Jedi arts. Mace could recognize the hand of Dooku in the general's training and technique. His strikes were as forceful as any Mace had ever had to counter, and his speed was astonishing. But he didn't know Vaapad-the technique of dark flirtation in which Mace excelled. To the rear of the car, where Grievous's pair of MagnaGuards had made the mistake of pitting themselves against Kit Fisto, the Nautolan's blade was a cyclone of blazing blue light. Resistant to the energy outpourings of a lightsaber, the phrik alloy staffs were potent weapons, but like any weapon they needed to find their target, and Kit simply wasn't allowing that. In moves a Twi'lek dancer might envy, he spun around the guards, claiming a limb from both with each rotation: left legs, right arms, right legs . . . The speed of the train saw to the rest, ultimately whisking the droids into the canyon like insects blown from the windscreen of a speeder bike. The loss of his confederates was noted by whatever computers were slaved to Grievous's organic brain, but the loss neither distracted nor slowed him. His sole setting was attack. Successful at analyzing Mace's lightsaber style, those same computers suggested that Grievous alter his stance and posture, along with the angle of his parries, ripostes, and thrusts. The result wasn't Vaapad, but it was close enough, and Mace wasn't interested in prolonging the contest any longer than necessary. - James Luceno, Labyrinth of Evil
Grievous adapts to whatever fighting style the Jedi uses. Kenobi employed a defensive lightsaber form. Thus Grievous could never quite predict what he would do next and found no weaknesses in his strategy.
@@ForsakenDreamer7 He is a master of the "Hello there" Jedi arts, grievous never stood a chance even tho he could've ordered his droids to shoot him from all directions.
@@ForsakenDreamer7 There is a reason why Mace Windu stopped fighting Grevious and passed the task over to Obi-wan, because his defensive style was more adept to handle Grevious, as Mace would've only made him more dangerous is he kept trying to purse Grevious himself, as Gervious was adaping and learning Mace's style, one of the most dangerous lightsaber forms of combat in all of history, starting to copy it almost down to the tee even without being able to use the force, it only could've ended in two ways, a stalemate where Mace runs out of stamina, gets backed into a corner, and eventually dies, leaving the galaxy with a Grevious that knows the deadly art of Vaapad or not confront Grevious, not make him more powerful, and give the task to a jedi with a more capable style, the answer being Obi-wan Kenobi, a jedi whom's lightsaber style was all defensive and not at all aggressive like Grevious.
Bloonblaster2000 Because much like Count Dooku before him he had outlived his usefulness to Palpatine and would have become a liability if he was allowed to live.
Thomas Wood you seem to be making your opinion based only in the third movie, at the beginning, grievous was able to deal with more than 5 jedi masters at once. In the movie he only had the chance to fight against obi wan, who you could day "cheated" by being nothing but a vessel to the force, so it would be almost impossible for anyone to defeat that fucking jedi. He only was killed by vader cause he let him to do so
Greivous is a perfectly written antagonist. His motivations were always noble...a jedi life for every Khaleesh llife. The General was only as vengeful as the Republic had made him.
+Roni “Ronsku” Ohvo He laughed in the Clone Wars since it took place before the Movie, also in the Clone Wars he had his lungs crushed a little by Mace Windu when they kidnapped Emperor Palpatine.
General Grievous is indeed the most awesome character, in my opinion. I think his part in the prequels was needed but poorly done. He was a powerful general that killed many Jedi. But was greatly underpowered in the prequels. In the prequels and 2009-2014 Clone Wars series, he was shown as a cowardly general that would run away coughing when given the chance. But really he was much MUCH more powerful than what the prequels and 2009-2014 Clone Wars series deemed him to be. His death by General Kenobi is completely acceptable though. Grevious' mind and fighting was clouded with hate towards the Jedi and he went on the extreme offensive towards Kenobi. This tactic usually works on lower lever Jedi, but Obi-Wan Kenobi is a Jedi master. Even during his training by Dooku, he was warned that with Jedi masters he must be more defensive with counterattacks. But since Grevious' mind was clouded by hatred (towards what the Jedi did to his people) and power, he was defeated by Kenobi.
The extreme offensive tactic usually works with lower level Jedi because the general's four arms and strength would overwhelm them. Also because of Grevious' ability to switch between forms and styles of lightsaber wielding in the blink of an eye.
Nolan Westhoff very well described my galactic friend, you must be well versed in the Jedi way, insight you have hmmm, must more though you need seek, hmmm, find yourself you must :)
You said "he can no longer sleep, no longer laugh" yet in episode 3 grievous laughed in the film. Don't get me wrong I listened to this whole story and it was well worth the time and bad ass !
This is why I have a love-hate relationship with Star Wars. What kind of a universe kills off ridiculously cool and beloved characters like Grievous (not even honoring him with a cool death) but lets Jar Jar F#%*ing Binks survive for the entire thing? WTH George Lucas? Rest In Peace Grievous. Rest in peace....
Jar Jar Binks is not a Sith Lord. Jar Jar Binks is not a good character. Jar Jar Binks is not funny. Jar Jar Binks is not confirmed to survive the prequels. Jar Jar Binks is not the Gungan who shouts: "Weesa free!" in ROTJ. Jar Jar Binks is not Canon. JAR JAR BINKS DOES NOT EXIST!
I actually don't remember what I was saying I'm pretty sure if I watched this through again I would understand but it's been a while since I wrote this. Either way I feel that Grievous was way to cool a villain to just off like they did.
This definitely opens a new perspective on Grevious that shows he really wasn't pure evil. He just wanted to be a good caring and courageous leader to his people and impress his ancestors. He also had a legitimate reason to hate the Jedi because they sided with a corrupt group in a war and tried to kill his tribe. I respect Grevious and honestly he really doesn't seem evil he is just someone who tried to be a hero but was used and had everything he had taken from him, including HIS WIFE. To put it in perspective: imagine you are having a sleepover with your 6 closest friends at your house when you suddenly hear something from another room. 2 gunshots are fired and one of your friends lays on the ground dead from an invader. You try to quickly find any weapons you have in your house to protect your family and friends and rush to call the police, but when they arrive, they do not help you and after all your friends and family are killed in front of you, the police decide to take you into custody. The police would represent the Jedi in this scenario and I feel for Grevious completely.
When Obi wan said "So uncivilized" he was actually talking about the blaster as it was a crude weapon, unlike the lightsaber which was an elegant weapon for a more civilized time.
splinter360 think of it like this, Knights in the Middle Ages were disgusted with the advent of long bow on the battle field and felt it went against the code of chivalry. To kill at range was distasteful or in other words “so uncivilized”.
I love how Kenobi managed to derail Grievous even in the general's own story video. Classic Kenobi: Ultimate Troll to Death. Fantastic video as ever friend, still looking forward to THAT upcoming project.
Love how this shows how overpowered good guys are. His augmented mind could record varying battlestyles and implement them in his own. His limbs allowed the use of 4 lightsabers which could compansate in varying patterns of offense and defense as well as have unpredictability and increasing speed. Not to mention he was already a well seasoned jedi killer and warrior in his own right yet kenobi somehow was able to read every move of grevious and counter perfectly or dodge. You cannot tell me its because he had the force for if it were that simple other jedi wouldnt have had any issue reading his attacks at the very least.
It's because Obi-Wan is a boss. Also, I think he specialized in a defensive lightsaber form and was described as the Jedi with the best chance of defeating Grievous, which is why he was sent to Utapau. I'm not an expert, so I might not have that all quite right, but Obi-Wan was definitely better than the average Jedi that Grievous killed.
@@Weaseler0417 Yes, they could all shoot him at range. There's nothing Grievous can do to stop them except dive for cover if there is cover, and hope that no shots get in between his armor. They could just fly low enough in one of their drop ships just out of Grievous's jumping height, and blast him to dust.
@@histguy101 you seem to forget the durasteel he is made of isnt gonna be damaged by blasters like that I believe in a comic he even tanks a blast bolt from a guy ship plus even he couldn't take a regular clone bolt he still has sabers to block with and has incredible speed to avoid getting hit
Grievous just went from one of the most cartoonishly evil villains in SW to one of the bestandv most synpathetic. Damn you, Disney! This is still canon!
Technicaly it is, i mean, we don't have an official story of him, nor do we have of the Old Republic days, most of the EU can still be considered "cannon" as we just lack another explanation, the Sequel trilogy is most likely going to happen in the time that the Empire is still beeing exterminated so nothing stops the Yung von jaong(is that how it's written?) to happen, nor the old Hyperspace war to have happened either, or heck, even the pre-Infinite Rakatan empire days to still be cannon, because we lack an explanation for said thing, that said thing is "cannon" no matter what Dysney says so. unless they make an official one that is...
You see, this is why I hate Jedi. They're arrogant, blind, hypocrites. You should do the story of Kreia/Darth Traya. I love her character, and, frankly, she's my favorite character in Star Wars.
Episode III: So uncivilized. Episode IV: An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster. Obi-Wan Kenobi knew how to be civilized, yet he lived in a cave in the middle of a desert for almost twenty years.
General Grievous didn't see a single day of peace for his entire life. Imagine 40-50 years of nothing but war and bloodshed. Grievous may be surpassed as a duelist by precious few, but none can say they are a warrior on par with Grievous, he's lived and breathed war and death his whole life.
This was really good! Loved the use of character impersonated dialogue/quote readings. Fade outs between 'chapters' made the story-line easier to follow. An excellent combination of still images/screenshots, film/TV show footage and artwork to illustrate the story. All up, you've condensed a plethora of movie, TV show and book events of the character into one, enjoyable to watch video. I believe that the character of General Grievous/Qymaen jai Sheelal is severely unrated and his full story is grievously (pun) misunderstood by the general (yes, another pun) Star Wars fan community. 40 minutes well spent, absolutely phenomenal!
Every character in the original Clone Wars series seemed too overpowered to me. Star Wars: the Clone Wars gives a more realistic version. Seriously, Mace Windu destroyed an entire army of thousands of droids all by himself! I don't think jedi are THAT powerful even if it is Mace Windu.
Nikolas Ransom The problem with the Clone Wars CGI is that it tries VERY little new and just borrows things from the movies. The cartoon version of Grievous should have been what he was in the movie, more or less. They could have scaled his powerlevel back a bit, but he was exactly how he was supposed to be, a Jedi killer who is extremely menacing, not a laughable stereotypical mustache twirling villain with a stereotypical racist Russian accent. The thing he does in the movie and TCW is so bland and uninteresting, but worst of all, pointless.
It would all be for a purpose if Disney didn't cancel the Clone Wars before it got to the events of Revenge of Sith. I doubt you even watched the whole series because to me, General Grievous had a purpose and it was always great with him in the episode. And what Russian accent?!
Nikolas Ransom And what purpose would that be? To reharsh what happened in the cartoon Clone Wars with the kindapping of Palpatine? If I have to watch over 70-80% of the series toget to see the character of Grievous do something of value, then its already a bad sign right there. I saw at least up to the middle of Season 5, but then I simply couldn't be bothered anymore. The only purpose Grievious has in TCW and Episode 3 is to be the mustache twirling villain like I said in my previous comment. I am actually suspecting that Lucas wanted to create Grievous just to fill time in the movie and give Obi Wan and Anakin a reason to split up. The character itself brought nothing of value. And yes, Russian accent. Don't pretend like you havent noticed.
Fantastic work! Flawless narration, accompanied by top-notch editing. Well researched, very well put together. Kudos to you, sir! I really enjoyed watching this! Thanks for your time and effort! Much appreciated!
Grievous had a feeling that one day Obie Wan would break into his hospital and go around picking random dance fights with his staff while getting high on Midichlorians....
Grievous has an extremely rich and varied life story and when you see his death scene slowed down slightly, it looks so much more brutal. In hindsight for a character that didn't get alot of screen time, he is integral to overall story. #MoreRespectForGrievous!!!
Ah found a good youtuber who actually gives one of my favorite characters some recognition i just love the collecting of your fallen enemies weapons (or any item that makes em special) as keepsakes idea is really badass IMO especially with something as personal as a lightsaber. and i know Boba did it in the expanded universe comics but one those arent canon anymore and two he only used that one saber. Plus his backstory is decently cool and he was pretty damn powerful as well.
Did you know that the Jedi who just gave into his fear and ran towards Grievous and got crushed? He was designed after Shaggy. That Jedi is named "Sha'a Gi?"
You did an awesome job! The Star Wars universe is so vast and rich in every conceivable way. There's so many great characters and its like an infinite treasure trove of stories that could one day become films.
I believe this would be noteworthy enough to at least mention. I feel like I'm splitting hairs here that you missed this and not mentioning the N-K Necrosis bot. But seriously, these are noteworthy enough to at least be spoken of at least once.
TheEpicLifeOfMe If it gives people a more accurate knowledge of what he is explaining, then yes. People watched this video wanting a full explanation on who Grevious was. It isn't as helpful if Evan is missing several important things about him.
I know this video is 6 years old as of this comment but it still just proves my point that this is an extremely under rated channel. Very good story telling, you had me hooked with the title.
I like how you tell this story out of not Grievous perspective but of his view, it makes it more fun to watch and more like a story of him and not only a story about him.
Are you going to be a book writer or something similar in the future? Because you would be great. Also I would see an entire movie of grievous disney should make it. Who's with me?
shickenwang I already have the story in my head: the first movie should be about the start of the war along with grievous youth. The second should be about the war itself along with an older more broken grievous and finally the third should be about the republic interfiring and grievous "accident" and the movie ends with grievous opening his eyes while in his new cybernetic body.
I bought the 2005 General Grievous comic following your recommendation and this video. Thanks EvanNova95! If only the films and television series would bring this kind of epic scale and detail back, they'd still have a future.
Imagine if his frame was made of phrik alloy and his chest couldn't be opened like a pantry door. Still doesn't account for lack of force abilities, but makes him nigh unstoppable in lightsaber combat.
my question is why the fuck did they not put an enclosed casing around his vital organs instead of that i mean he would have won if his body was more sealed
Awsome storytelling! Great storytelling voice! Didin't think that I was gonna make it through, but so I did. Thanks for the lore. Definetly listening to another one tomorrow! :)
It always seemed odd to me that Grievous and Kenobi fought several times during the clone wars yet in ROTS it seemed like the first time they had ever met. Great video I'm surprised no one has ever done a Grievous origin story like this before. But do us all a favor and don't pursue a career in reading audiobooks you almost lost me there:-)
Grievous (on Utapau) should have just ordered his droids to fire on Kenobi while he either escaped in his star fighter, or helped the droids. As powerful as Kenobi is, I doubt he could take on that many droids (including magna guards) with or with out Grievous' support. Of course, Kenobi's plot shield would probably protect him. :(
Hugo Nilsson The joints that connected his arms to his hands would have been quite thin and made of weaker, more flexible material so that he could have optimal freedom of movement, and also as someone else mentioned, forgot who, he was a prototype and was probably meant to be improved upon as time went by, but he probably got killed before the improvements were implemented. So yeah, Grievous was basically an experiment.
+Hugo Nilsson Well they were chopped off by light sabers.. I'm pretty sure they can cut through any type of armor. I mean, even vader get's his arm chopped off by luke.
Hey friend, i really dig this video, its fun to get insight into stories that aren't shown on screen. The format is awesome, too, keep it up. That being said, some of the descriptions were so descriptive and dramatic that i was distracted from the story. I dont need to hear that Grievous "resisted the urge to splatter Gunray's brains into orbit" you could just say the important thing "Grievous was dishusted and annoyed" great vid
I think a good ending for Grievous' reign would be having an epic duel with Vader on Mustafar. Also imagine if grievous could use the force, DAYUM DOOD
General Grievous is fucking awsome ! Love how when hes running you can hear him coffeing like *cough* ahh *cough* I was so sad when he died. Its ok though he did very well for himself.
Okay, I've watched this, the cartoons, the movie, read articles and researched this quite a bunch. And I still believe the only explanation to Grievous not being force crushed into a heap of scrap metal by the first Jedi he didn't catch by surprise is lazy writing. After he killed his first couple Jedi or three, word should have gotten out and a "Force crush on sight" order should have been issued.
Lord Baktor My knowledge of the Star Wars extended universe is not the best, but I don't believe it's as simple as you make it out to be. First off, the force is not always instantaneous, often having "travel-time" like any other projectile. This means even non-force users have the ability to evade things such as force pushes. Furthermore, most force users have to telegraph their use of the force through hand gestures, along with using copious amounts of concentration to perform any force abilities in any combative means. Even instantaneous force abilities have to be telegraphed through hand gestures as well, excluding incredibly powerful jedi masters and sith lords. With that out of the way, General Grievous, being a cyborg, has increased reaction time and the moment a jedi begins to raise their hand and perform a force ability he can just dodge out of the way. Now as for force crush/choke, there is a slight problem for jedi. These abilities are related to the dark side of the force; thus jedi cannot use this ability. The only exception is Mace Windu, who is a grey jedi. So in short, Grievous can just dodge incoming force attacks or apply enough pressure with his lightsabers to prevent them from using any force abilities to begin with. This is why General Grievous has to use the element of surprise; a powerful force wielder--such as a jedi master--could prevent Grievous from closing the distance. However, once he is right in your face not even a jedi master could defend against Grievous' onslaught and have enough concentration and energy to use the force in the heat of the moment. soooooo yeah.........
Lord Baktor Mace Windu - He was known for his resistance to the lures of the dark side, channeling his inner darkness into his attacks to help him serve the light side of the Force. This allowed him to utilize some of the darkest powers known to either Jedi or Sith without succumbing to his aggression, such as the terrible Force Crush. His mastery of the form he created, Vaapad, also proved his devotion to the light, as the only two other advanced users, Depa Billaba and Sora Bulq, fell to the dark side. Mace Windu was known to be able to ponder matters of the dark and light sides of the Force with a clarity perhaps second only to Master Yoda. - Wookieepedia SHORTLY: You need power of the dark side to preform force crush, and Mace was the only Jedi who could do so.
Soul of Sir Alonne I don't think Grievous would classify as a cyborg. He is more the other way around. He is a machine with human parts, not a human with machine parts. Vader is a cyborg
TheWatcher _ What would you call him then? Cyborg: a person whose physiological functioning is aided by or dependent upon a mechanical or electronic device. Sure Grievous is mostly machine now but he still has a personality, emotions, wants, etc.
+landofthedeadful No, Obi-Wan was a master of the Soresu defense and he even went all out. Of course the movies had him run away although to be honest if we were going with a true warrior he would have done what he did in the 2003 series. But still Soresu is a great counter to Grevious's form and seeing that Obi-Wan himself is a master of the unorthodox like Grevious he still would have won.
+Joshua Smith Thing is though all the times grievous and obi wan fought in the clone wars. Grievous was always on the verge of killing Kenobi. But as usual Kenobi used the force and forced grievous to retreat. Meaning that as good as Kenobi was Grievous was most likely better then him.
KON- EL No, Obi-Wan was always better, a close to death situation means that they are close fighters but in the end Obi-Wan being a Jedi with the force is his advantage and not a cheap cop out. He always won by playing it tactically and using his surroundings.
KON- EL Because Grevious has faced plenty of force wielders and dealt with them, it's Obi-Wan's tactical ingenuity and able to take control in any situation that allows him to win the force is a side note to that. I misspoke before and realize i need to make an addendum to my previous statement. The force was a tool but not his entire reason for winning, most of his battles were won through other means. Probably the best three examples of him taking control is the Genosian Arena. His battle with Darth Maul and Savage Oppress, and when he was captured on Grevious's flagship. All three times he was at a severe disadvantage but wrested control from the opponents. And no mater what kept a calm demeanor regardless of what he was up against. Grevious relied on intimidation a tactic that Obi-Wan never falls to. Remember what Dooku said to have any success against the Jedi? "You must have fear, surprise and intimidation on your side. But if any one element is lacking, it would be best for you to retreat." Grevious always had to follow this advice and against Kenobi he would never get fear. That one element would give Kenobi the constant advantage and that is the reason that Obi-Wan is superior.

Ask Filoni :(
"How far is a warrior willing to go to achieve glory? Through the fires of war, many are willing to make whatever sacrifices are needed to achieve their goals. However, when does a warrior cross the line of morality? When does a warrior begin to crave power, not for the sake of others, but power for powers sake? How far will a warrior go, before he becomes the very embodiment of the evil he has sworn to destroy? This being is such a warrior. This is the story of corruption. This is the story... of General Grievous."
Wow. That was some fucking awesome beginning narration. EvanNova95, you're a natural storyteller. Great job! :D
This shit needs a spin off movie right now.
+Jordan Duggan Yeah, really
there is so much content that could be released. id like to especially see stuff from clone war era. including this and more dooku backround.
+A-17 Deathtroopers would also be a really good spinoff
if i had the ability i wouldn't hesitate not one second
I think they should find his body in Star Wars 8 and bring him back to life
I hated Grievous for a long time. But now after seeing his past, i feel sad for him. But now, he's probably with his fallen comrades and his beloved wife in the after life. Rest in peace, Grievous.
i also had pitty for him... darkblade can i tell you something?
Brandon Cross Sure.
Brandon Cross I understand. Also, I got something too, I was the one who lead that Jedi Task force on Grievous's home-world years ago.
***** impressive, what was your mission?
Sorry grievous but the reason you can't kill Obi wan is cause he's a main character
+Kurt Wagner What?!? But that doesn't make sense!
I am the better warrior, the more intelligent, and lets not forget the impeccable perfectness of my style. (Given I have a robotic brain that should be assumed.)
What is this "main character" stuff anyway. A battle is about strength, not importance.
+Magnus Anderson plot armor allows for even the most unfair match ups to fall to the favorable combatant, i.e. Batman v. Superman
+Kurt Wagner plot armour is op, it provide the "unkillable " buff before it magically gets removed from ur invantory
only if he was like deadpool and knew obi wan was a main character and cant be killed. then killed george lucas instead
Walking plot characters, sigh.
I have always admired general grievous but now I can't help but to love him even more , I feel so sorry for him and can only feel anger towards the Jedi. While I was watching its weird how grievous's story makes u question who really is the bad guy him or the Jedi and Senate that Reyes to have him and his species killed.
Auto correct put Reyes instead of tried
From my point of view, the Jedi are evil.
lol
+Nicholas Miller Remember he hated the Jedi long before they attacked, he hated their ritualistic practices and blind devotion to the Senate.
I do't know what you're talking about, I had no one killed
They could do a whole movie just on Grievous. It would be amazing.
Much better then Solo
It would be cooler if the the grevious movie is rated R
I want dark side content period. Sith origins, grievous, nightsisters whoever er
I would definitely watch this especially since grevious was my favourite character besides darth maul
True
"They want to take him alive."
The words had scarcely left his mouth when something hit the train with sufficient force to whip everyone from one side of the car to the other, then back again. The Red Guards were just regaining their balance when the roof began to resound with the cadence of heavy, clanging footfalls, advancing from the rear of the train.
"Grievous," Mace grumbled.
Kit glanced at him. "Here we go again."
Hurrying into the vestibule between the two lead cars, they launched themselves to the roof.
Antoine Bandele Doesn't Fisto have a green blade?
Cyber-Funk Indeed he does, por que?
Antoine Bandele I say that because in the passage it says "His blade was a cyclone of blazing blue".
Slaughters 4 Jedi in his second battle against them.
Lost 2 hands in under a minute against Kenobi.
Thanks George.
Grievous adapts to whatever fighting style the Jedi uses. Kenobi employed a defensive lightsaber form. Thus Grievous could never quite predict what he would do next and found no weaknesses in his strategy.
@@reddeaddude2187 That's not how it works nor the reason why he lost.
@@ForsakenDreamer7 He is a master of the "Hello there" Jedi arts, grievous never stood a chance even tho he could've ordered his droids to shoot him from all directions.
Yet despite the force and lightsabers, it was a blaster pistol that ended Grevious.
Why did General Grievous have to die? He was such a badass.
Bloonblaster2000 Because much like Count Dooku before him he had outlived his usefulness to Palpatine and would have become a liability if he was allowed to live.
Bloonblaster2000 agree why WHY!
Thomas Wood you know i say to that GO FUCK YOUR SELF!
He only was killed by vader cause he let him to do so
i was joking m8
Greivous is a perfectly written antagonist. His motivations were always noble...a jedi life for every Khaleesh llife. The General was only as vengeful as the Republic had made him.
"No longer laugh." But he can laugh though.
+Roni “Ronsku” Ohvo He can't laugh "happily", he can laugh though.
well in the little kids cartoon series but he can't laugh in the movies
Lucas Berndt I don't like the series, but, it is canon, so he can laugh.
+Roni “Ronsku” Ohvo "Doesn't need to breathe". But he coughs.
The movies rely solely on single dimension characters. even in the recent films characters have only a few more degrees of depth.
Screw "Rogue One" where is Grievous's movie? And don't use "canon" as an excuse because this is to cool to ignore, they should just do it anyways!
Je suis avec toi
Now that would be lovely....
"Canon" as an excuse? That's possible? The Prequels were all canon, so Grievous is canon.
I actually don't remember what I was saying I'm pretty sure if I watched this through again I would understand but it's been a while since I wrote this. Either way I feel that Grievous was way to cool a villain to just off like they did.
Donnie I liked rogue one. A grievous movie would be cool
It was with this story that Grievous received the depth he deserved in the films.
When Obi wan said "So uncivilized" he was actually talking about the blaster as it was a crude weapon, unlike the lightsaber which was an elegant weapon for a more civilized time.
Correct if I'm wrong but Lightsabers are older than blasters no?
splinter360 think of it like this, Knights in the Middle Ages were disgusted with the advent of long bow on the battle field and felt it went against the code of chivalry. To kill at range was distasteful or in other words “so uncivilized”.
Love the comic when Grievous takes on Durge and Ventress and wins relatively easily. 👌
I have feelings you know :'(
XD i know how you feel droid
+BATTLE DROID Obviously whoever coded you spent time putting in all the wrong things. I mean, emotions but no perfect aiming?!?
BATTLE DROID
No you don’t
Roger Roger
Get back to work!!
Grevious has a really intriguing story. Gives you a different view on the Republic amd Jedi.
Just get a platoon of clones to all shoot at Grievous at the same time. He would die.
@@histguy101 legends greivous can beat Jedis barehanded but yeah a squad of clones can beat him
@@Weaseler0417 Yes, they could all shoot him at range. There's nothing Grievous can do to stop them except dive for cover if there is cover, and hope that no shots get in between his armor.
They could just fly low enough in one of their drop ships just out of Grievous's jumping height, and blast him to dust.
@@histguy101 you seem to forget the durasteel he is made of isnt gonna be damaged by blasters like that I believe in a comic he even tanks a blast bolt from a guy ship plus even he couldn't take a regular clone bolt he still has sabers to block with and has incredible speed to avoid getting hit
grevious is actually quite a sad story.
General Grevious is my favorite Star Wars character.
Okay someone needs to call lucasfilms and say "Okay look up 'Star Wars the story of General Grievous' and make it a movie"
Damn I give this guy an A+ in drama.
Grievous is by far one of my favorite Star Wars Characters..
Agree
I'm serious there should be a game focused on General Grievous.
I love the EU but I don't always have the time to read the novels and comics so this is the second best thing. Thank you for posting this EvanNova95.
Honestly, Grievous is my favourite character from the star wars universe.
"Back away! I will deal with this Jedi slime myself!"
Grievous, More Awesome Than Alucard
The Almighty Lord Birbddha Excuse me. But I'm a FuckMothering Vampire! I've killed a LOT of people to get this title. I deserved to be called such.
Yo, but for real for real tho... how was it clappin those Seras cheeks? Good or nah?
Very well done! I have always been curious about Grievous origin. And the dramatic voice of the narrator helped a lot! I say again, very well done!!!
Right off the bat, iconic star wars music.
This would be a dope ass movie
You see, this is why I hate Jedi. They're arrogant, blind, hypocrites. You should do the story of Kreia/Darth Traya. I love her character, and, frankly, she's my favorite character in Star Wars.
Who cares, your a lizard, lol
Jonah Goodrow THATS RACIST!!!
It's wrong to be racist. It's bad for your health
Yeah boo racism
And you can't apply the Jedi Code to your everyday lives but for the Sith you can.
Episode III: So uncivilized.
Episode IV: An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster.
Obi-Wan Kenobi knew how to be civilized, yet he lived in a cave in the middle of a desert for almost twenty years.
And had a thing for cutting off limbs.
AAAAAAHHH!!! JEDI?!?!?!
scrap metal
+BATTLE DROID Be quiet, also why is your head built so awkwardly?
Roger roger
Just goes to show you- even a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.. the AI still sucked tauntaun balls.
+SpaceP1rate Except when they tried (Eg. Grievous' droids)
@Kryptoskillet No, not Maul He already has a lot of appearences
the jedis will pay for what they did to me. especially general ken-obi
FEEL MY POWER OF THE BALANCED FORCE!
I need a job... well see ya I'm gonna kill jar jar
+General Grievous how did u feel as you watched order 66 happen in your afterlife
Revis Puppy it was fantastic. i wish it was me who gave that order. but it was a shame that general ken obi survived
agreed but what about when he's a padawan betrayed him and then they have battled each other
Grievous is a great character not just in comics but in GENERAL. HAHAHA LMAO get it?
Ba dum tsssss...
ah! nice one!
Nice one Bobby, top notch son.
Bobby Tokyo ba dun
Bobby Tokyo I️ haven’t been this disappointed since general grievous was defeated by the gungans in TCW
I love that Grand Admiral Thrawn ended up with General Grievous mask. My fav two chars of all time, grievous & thrawn.
Imagine if Grievous had a chance to work with Admiral Thrawn.
5:53 - Dooku has magnaguards while extracting Grievous from Kaleesh for the first time
12:11 - Grievous invents magnaguards
Ah yes. One of my favorite Star Wars villains who not a lot of people talk about.
Original Star Wars: Clone Wars cartoon Grievous > all other incarnations of the character
Nikolas Ransom Yes they were, and Mace didn't do much he just punch some droid and dodge the blaster.
18:15 it's Shaggy!!
:)
if I can remember his name was Shag-Gi, so yeah it's a nice little refrence
+RANDE Magic i thouhgt of the exact same thing
Not even at .01% of his power
Will you betray the Jedi shaggy?
"Like no dude"
Would you do it for a scooby snack?
LIKE YOU UNDERESTIMATE MY POWER SCOOB!
I remember watching this (because it was good) about 6 years ago and remebered that this video got me into Star Wars. Thanks Evan
funny, me too-i was eight at the time
Anyone else root for Grievous to win? Or was it just me
I did!
What an excellent biography of me.
I'm impressed.
Genoral Grievus
The genoral approves
Great work! Everthing is fine: narrator, pics and cut. Well done!
+MrMarkedMantis Umm you know that grevious's backstory isn't canon seeing as it was produced in the EU.
+Joshua Smith yeah I realized that a few days after I commented but hey thats on me i feel stupid now though.
MrMarkedMantis No biggie, i wish it was canon. GOD DAMN YOU DISNEY!
You did not Mentoin his Fight against Durge and Assajj Ventress. Since it promoted him to Supreme Droid General and started his Rivalry with Ventress.
I believe this would be noteworthy enough to at least mention. I feel like I'm splitting hairs here that you missed this and not mentioning the N-K Necrosis bot. But seriously, these are noteworthy enough to at least be spoken of at least once.
The video is already fourty minutes. You want to make it longer!?
TheEpicLifeOfMe If it gives people a more accurate knowledge of what he is explaining, then yes. People watched this video wanting a full explanation on who Grevious was. It isn't as helpful if Evan is missing several important things about him.
And his first fight against Windu on Boz Pity. Ithink it is important too.
His abilities seemed to be overstated in that battle. Ventress actually is the better combatant as is revealed in TCW on both Kamino and Dathomir.
Whenever I see General Grevious, I will always feel bad for him for his past.
I know this video is 6 years old as of this comment but it still just proves my point that this is an extremely under rated channel. Very good story telling, you had me hooked with the title.
Evan, you are incredibly good at telling stories.
been wanting to know more about Grievous for years now! Recently I read the wiki but that didn't give me a lot of information. Thanks :D
I like how you tell this story out of not Grievous perspective but of his view, it makes it more fun to watch and more like a story of him and not only a story about him.
thanks for making this vid and telling Grevious' cool story! wish he hadn't been killed.
What do you mean a void in his heart that will never be filled?
*K E N O B I*
FANTASTIC!!!! Grievous has always been my favorite character, now I know more about his background, thanks.
Are you going to be a book writer or something similar in the future? Because you would be great. Also I would see an entire movie of grievous disney should make it. Who's with me?
Hell yeah. Should they make it so that grievous survived getting gunned down? It just seemed such a sudden death for the great general.
make it about the huk war and what happened to him his own prequels
shickenwang I already have the story in my head: the first movie should be about the start of the war along with grievous youth. The second should be about the war itself along with an older more broken grievous and finally the third should be about the republic interfiring and grievous "accident" and the movie ends with grievous opening his eyes while in his new cybernetic body.
Machowesker17 lets pitch it to the studios haha
Well knowing disney they'd do something like that without our help
This video was 268 Times better Than the prequals who where made with 200000000 Times' the budget
So the video costed 1.72?
Yes. I made a very precise calculation using a variety of factors and that is the exact precise answer. Obviously
Your mathematician skills are unparalleled.
its elementary my dear Watson!
What a joke.
I bought the 2005 General Grievous comic following your recommendation and this video. Thanks EvanNova95! If only the films and television series would bring this kind of epic scale and detail back, they'd still have a future.
This guy deserves more subs for his work.
Just came back for the nostalgia
"Don't tell me, let me guess: this is the part where you give me the chance to surrender."
I would pay this guy to tell me stories at night. He makes stories even more interesting than they already are.
Chaotic Reaper0 because the ibc is full of retarded neimoidians.
i know right i mean if he had gaps in his chest cavity to begin with he shouldve been shot and died long ago
Raptormann0205 raptor jesus............
Raptor jesus my lord and savior
"so uncivilized" was for the blaster not grievous.
But do us all a favor and don't pursue a career in reading audiobooks you almost lost me there:-)
Because Dave Filoni didn’t try to stay consistent with the canon.
Thoroughly enjoying the BGM from Halo 3: ODST. I loved the game and it's soundtrack was perfect. Thank you for using it! ^^~
why not make him out of laser resistant metal, like the staffs... Invincible!
+Hugo Nilsson He was, but Obi Wan opened up his chest, exposing his organs. Those definately wouldn't be laser proof.
Provoking Perch but his hand kept being chopped off...
+Harley Quinn yes lightsabers can cut through most things not including lightsaber resistant metals though ;D
When Kenobi said "uncivilised" he was talking about the use of a blaster. Not the General
This is freaking sweet, EvanNova95! Thank you for putting the time and effort into this.
Shoutout to that Halo 3 ODST music at 15:44! Excellent taste in music mate :D
Ryanzaman. Lol
I like these history of characters you should do more like this.
Hey friend, i really dig this video, its fun to get insight into stories that aren't shown on screen. The format is awesome, too, keep it up.
That being said, some of the descriptions were so descriptive and dramatic that i was distracted from the story. I dont need to hear that Grievous "resisted the urge to splatter Gunray's brains into orbit" you could just say the important thing "Grievous was dishusted and annoyed"
great vid
I think a good ending for Grievous' reign would be having an epic duel with Vader on Mustafar. Also imagine if grievous could use the force, DAYUM DOOD
Was that Halo 3: ODST music at 16:00?
Buynot Yes you are right it is
tghu
I noticed that too
General Grievous is fucking awsome !
Mace Windu was known to be able to ponder matters of the dark and
light sides of the Force with a clarity perhaps second only to Master Yoda. - Wookieepedia
SHORTLY: You need power of the dark side to preform force crush, and Mace was the only Jedi who could do so.
Soul of Sir Alonne
I would call him a robot, or an AI with a body
I feel bad go general grievous
for*
This was freaking awesome.
You got to do more of these types of vids
all the things considered, grievous would of won against obiwon
So him having something grievous has no real defense against makes him better how is that fair?
