Siddhis are exciting and easy to chase: going the route of Paramahansa Yogananda is admirable ~ amazing that such a young man knew this intuitively.
Wonder what his guidance would add to the world today, a world in great danger.
    Jai guru. Jai Ram.

...good summary, thanks so much, also for the rare photo testimonies of the time! Having read the book many times, I just want to add, that I was so glad to learn, that his master Sri Yukteswar appeared to him after his departure from the physical plane, and indeed shared with him many details and an overall descriptive view of the astral worlds... one of the most precious chapters for me... 💖

In the modern age say in the last two hundred years we mostly know of and celebrate those who went to the US and their gurus. Swami Vivekananda and his guru Ramkrishna Paramhansa... Bikram Yoga... Osho... Maharishi Mahesh Yogi... Srila Prabhupada etc. are examples.
Similarly, We know Yogananda because he went to the US. Otherwise thousands of great saints like him light up their surroundings in India and eventually extinguish without being immortalized for ever.

An excellent summary! It seems like you covered the book very well, and left nothing of any importance out of it. Also, I was amazed at the rare photos that you were able to find of people and yogis covered in the Autobiography, including those that I have never seen in any edition of Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi. Tell me - where did you find these rare photos?

Thank you soo much for taking your time to watch this summary and sharing your valuable feedback, It genuinely makes me happy when I see such acknowledgements appreciating the research behind this video which quite often gets overlooked.
And to answer your question, it indeed took tons of re-reading, but also hours of online research. For the most party I'd find them through a quick Google search, TH-cam videos or other online blogs. But the challenging part was to verify if these pictures are actually of the Yogis mentioned in the book, So I watched all the videos that talked of these yogis and read articles about them, I'd also check if there's any other sited reference of these yogis tracing back to Swami Yogananda, and confirm that these are the Yogis I'm looking for. Interestingly enough though Tiger Swami's pictures were openly available online, none of the other videos on this book ever used them. So it kinda helped me create a much more detailed video. 😅

I don't understand why he spent most of his life in USA and not India.... Indians could have benefited more from his teachings and kriya yoga initiations..

    • @thelunaticreader1968

He was destined to do so, Babaji himself wanted Yoganada to spread the word of Kriya Yoga in the west, he was obliged to take the path he took by his Guru's Gurus (even Yukteshwarji Reveals this to Yoganada during his Childhood visits to Ashram), In Indian spiritual tradition, A Guru's word is always honored by the disciple, irrespective of personal motivations. And to address the second point, we already had/have many Yogis In India who have been actively teaching Kriya Yoga to the worthy, but the west had none. Not to forget, Yogoda Satsang Society has branches all across the world, and India today for the same reason.
