Who Is Mahavatar Babaji? Welcome to Open Your Reality. Many of you have been asking me to make a video about Mahavatar Baba-ji. So who is Mahavatar Baba-ji and why is he so important? First, he is one of the ascended masters and arguably the highest level spiritual figure that has ever graced the earth.
He is the teacher of teachers. His most famous disciple was Jesus and he constantly works to bring peace and love to the world. Baba-ji taught many spiritual adepts through the centuries, the most famous being Parahamansa Yogananda, who wrote Autobiography of a Yogi, easily one of the greatest pieces of spiritual literature ever composed in my humble opinion.
Few other spiritual figures compare to Baba-ji in terms of his power and his impact on the world from behind the scenes. The term, Baba-ji, is actually a broad Indian word which means revered father. For those interested in yogis and spirituality, you’ve probably come across the name Mahavatar Baba-ji at one time or another. Many who watch this video have not heard of the great sage, or no little about him.
Either way, I made this video to be the definitive short biography of the life and work of Mahavatar Baba-ji. Of all the spiritual figures that exist, I most strongly identify with Baba-ji. And in my heart, I believe he can hear me when I pray or speak to him. I first learned of the great master from reading Autobiography of a Yogi over two decades ago. The information in this video comes from that book and others written about Baba-ji, so let’s begin.
The legend of Mahavatar Baba-ji dates back to 203 BC. He was said to have been born on November 30 in a small eastern coastal village in the far south of India. His birth name was Nagarajan, which literally means “king of serpents”.
His father was the priest of a village temple. And Nagarajan adored his mother, whose love for her was unconditional. These details of Baba-ji’s early formative years were revealed to Marshal Govindan, who was initiated into kriya yoga in 1970 and dedicated his life to it, becoming president of Baba-ji’s kriya yoga operations and initiating over 10,000 people in its teachings.
If you didn’t know, Kriya yoga is a powerful branch of yoga that was passed down from Baba-ji to his disciples, forming a lineage that continues today. Govinda wrote a very informative book on Baba-ji in 1991, titled Baba-ji and the 18 Siddha Kriya Yoga Tradition.
According to Govinda, Baba-ji personally told him of the details of his early life in India in 203 BC. This includes Nagaraj being kidnapped and sold as a slave when he was just 5 years old.
The details of Babaji's life were beautifully penned in Autobiography of a Yogi. In 1861 Lahiri Mahasaya, working as an accountant for the British government, was walking in the hills of desolate area when he heard a voice calling his name. Following the voice up the mountain, he met a tall and divinely radiant sadhu. Lahiri was amazed the sadhu knew his name. That sadhu was none other than Mahavatar Baba-ji.
At this point, Baba-ji would have been over 2,000 years old but looked a youth of no more than 25 years. How could that be? It’s more than likely the spirit of Baba-ji took on this body, incarnating into the flesh to communicate with Lahiri.

I had just started TM in 1979 when I read and fell in love with Autobiography of a Yogi. I packed my bags, and in January of 1980 went to India and trekked through the Himalayas and met Babaji. He told me to go back to Maharishi and TM. Bahaha. Feel blessed to have been in his presence.

TH-cam isn’t listening to your conversations, but everything connects from your iPhone.This is why the CIA uses flip phones .... so they could take the battery out while discussing sensitive information. Companies such as Apple,google ( google owns youtube) etc have computers that connect recurring words or keywords whether you type, text, or speak the words. They do this for advertising reasons. To simplify it, they do it for financial benefit. For example, if I say “ hungry” or “ tacos” for a few days on my phone, I will start seeing Taco Bell advertisements on TH-cam. It’s not a conspiracy theory. It’s a fact. Gadgets like Alexa are always recording whatever is in its vicinity. There are people who get paid to listen to conversations via gadgets like Alexa to type recurring words they hear into data bases to improve the computers that identify recurring words ( as I already mentioned) to make money. A small handful of these people have been interviewed so it’s definitely not a conspiracy theory. As I said... it’s a fact. They’re not spying on us for personal info unless that personal info can be connected to a item or brand where money can be made, but it’s still a violation of privacy. Look it up if you are interested. Search “ Alexa “ and everything I just mentioned. Of course I simplified everything. You’ll find a lot more information through research. After Babaji goes to Srilanka with the small group of ascetics...he meets his guru Bhogar....When Bhogar saw Babaji performing different austerities with complete interest he gets impressed and tells him to go back to India to meet Bhogar’s guru Agasthya sage...Babaji performs difficult austerities and praying that he could meet the great Agasthya sage....when sage Agasthya saw Babaji’s dedication he initiated him into Kriya yoga and told him to travel to Badrinath and perform his austerities there to attain enlightenment...so Babaji leaves to Badrinath and performs Kriya yoga for long duration and attains Enlightenment....🙏🏻

I was travelling by train around 20 years plus back, a book stall vendor stopped in front of my bogie, and there was this book, 'Autobiography of a Yogi',..... I never get down at any railway station during a journey, I didn't know who Yogananda was, but his piercing eyes made me get down and buy this book and it has been my favourite spiritual read ever since..... the funny part was that there were so many interesting books but I just decided to buy this one and I didn't have much faith in gurus either,... later on I have always wondered if Swami Yogananda made me buy this book and give me the gift of all that wonderful knowledge. I wish everyone in the world could read this book.
Babaji didn't teach directly Yogananda but he taught the Master of his Master, Lahiri Mahasaya

Babaji of course appeared to Yogananda it just wasn't written about. Babaji is timeless and there is no need to be correct about who taught who but to practice the teachings as always!! Same thin happens in all religions especially Christianity Om Namah Shivaya!! ∞

I met Mr. X who was looking for the truth and purpose in life. from this conversation I just heard the name Babaji in october 2019.
when he meditated with the aim of inviting babaji, to prove that there was a babaji. Babaji come with lots of flowers with lots of fragrance and are always fanned by babaji's hands. Mr X's friend can't stand the fragrant flower of babaji. so Mr. X believes that babaji is there because his friend sees the presence of babaji with Indian characteristics. Mr X asks babaji whether there are indonesians like babaji? and Babaji's answer is that he lives in the Tengger area, but when he was searched on the field the name had become a legend.
and I ask how to communicate with babaji who are in different languages ... Mr X's answer he spoke in Indonesian and babaji's answer in Indonesian too ... for spiritual practitioners whether your experience is the same ... babaji comes with fragrance a lot of flowers and are always fanned by babaji's hands....

Thank you so much for such lovely video about Babaji. I'm 68 now but when I first read about him I was 21 for some reason I was terrified of him. Most likely because of his great power. All these decades later I think of him as a friend as as he was the inspiration for Yogananda who I accepted it as my guru.
Nice. I feel Babaji is like the one entity that I'm personally connected to. Yogananda was great, but I have no connection with him. Babaji is to me, like Christ is to others.

A man who resembled Sri Yuktwesar came to me in my vivid dream in an Ashram in 1991. I discovered the location and my guru, 2 years later near my home in NY state. He showed me 2 paper bags as he stood behind a TV set. He had a grey beard & mustache, tall and thin like Sri Yuktwesar. He said to me, “Which one do you want”?!!! I replied “ I don’t want anything “. To which he said “Good, because everything is an Illusion”. And the dream ended. I had a series of dreams with guru like people from India, and I had zero knowledge of the Occident. I searched high and low, and I found the Ashram in my dream, located not 10 minutes from my home there. I met the Guru in the very same room of my dream, and he passed some amazing energy into me just like I received at a much greater intensity in the dream, and knew it was the same energy. I spent about a year with my beloved Gurugi, before he transitioned from his body. I have been so blessed. I was struck by the similarity of your message. If anyone so desires, look up Ananda Ashram. It is a beautiful Sanctuary for meditation on acres of treed land, founded by Dr. Mishra, later known as Sri Bramhananda Sarasvati, where you can meditate, study, read his writings, eat vegan food, meet likeminded individuals, and even stay and live the yogic life. 9:22 It's not pronounced Ma-avatar. It's pronounced Maha-Avatar. Maha means great or noble. It's similar to Mahatma (Maha-Atma) Gandhi.

He won't get mad if you mispronounced his name. Remember Babaji washed a guys feet and said he was going to wash his cooking utensils next at the Kumba Mela. He said he's practicing the virtue of humility the most pleasing to God... That's a reality check.

Great Video, finally a decent documentary. Many modern spiritual masters of modern times claim to have met Babaji and have their version of Babaji's history. The problem with mysticism is that you can pretty much claim anything because it is so difficult to prove its validity.
In the Yoruba language, Babaji breaks down into two words. Baba= father & Ji= Awakens

@@bhaveshtewari3061 that is what Yogananda mission to the West was all about teaching of kriya and teaching the underlying unity of Hinduism and Christianity. But all the theories and beliefs and hearsay mean absolutely nothing unless you do the kriya and form a friendship with God. Friendship with God is more important than relationship cause friendship is closer and more tolerant. Relationship could be anything. That's what I said and I'm sticking with it.

What do you think? I am so attracted to the teachings of Hinduism. Yoga and meditation are a beautiful gift to the world from Hindusim. No other philosophy is attractive to me. People don't realize Buddhism is just a branch of Hindusim. Buddha himself a Hindu. He only disagreed with a few principles and never sought out to start a new religion.

Very enlightening video about Mahaavatar Bababji, I enjoyed the narration and images. My guru, the Supreme Master Ching Hai (Master from the Himalayas) has a video out where she talks about meeting Bababji, I believe around 2000, she said he appeared at the door of her residence as a chubby German man and she invited him in and they had tea. She told him to continue on his mission with his disciples and keep doing what he was doing. You can find videos where she mentions Babbaji and the kriya yogis on youtube! I would love to see a video on Haidakan Baba, that would be great, you should work on one!!
