Put a .585 cam in my 103, it made a huge difference in power, did all the work myself...If you do it yourself, jusr make sure you use the quickie adjustable pushrods, easy job to do, and nothing but horsepower and enjoyment
I’m a H-D master mechanic with 27 yrs. Experience. I run the fueling 543 “freeway flyer” cams in my 95” TC. In my humble opinion these are the best street cams you can put in your Twin Cam. Look up the specs and I think you’ll agree! They supply the torque and horsepower where most people ACTUALLY ride and need it
Finally bit the bullet and went ahead with woods 222 cams, man what a difference it's an absolute pleasure to ride my 103 FLHTCU now, the idle lobes are just awesome. Thanks, Gixer your video inspired me to go ahead with Woods 222. *Woods 222 Knight Prawler Cams. *Fuel Motto adjustable pushrods. *Torrington full complement inner cam bearings. *Jhonson Hylift Lifters. *V&H FP3 Tuner. *V&H Hi output slip Ons. *SE Air Filter.
My 2014 103, I put a Woods 222 cam in. Could not be happier. I also did the heads. Power numbers are 116 lb/tq and 103 hp. I looked around and could not find a cam with better torque numbers down low. I love it.
I'm a huge fan of the Wood cam, they are arguably impossible to beat with what I have seen out there. That head work made a difference with that cam, especially pulling that kinda power and torque numbers!
@@rickmay2734 Hey. I've had my wife on back many times. The bike definitely feels the weight. The cam helps a lot. You just need more power than stock imo for 2 up riding. If you have not done a cam change yet, I highly recommend it. You'll love it.
After thirty years and 250,000 miles riding Harley Davidson motorcycles I made the switch to BMWs. Loved my HDs, terrific bikes, I just wanted a different riding experience. I do wished I would have hung on to one of them as I miss the Harley experience. This channel has rekindled my interest in reacquiring a Big Twin, and I'm off to look at a 2013 low-mile Road King in the morning. I'll keep all 3 'Beemers', and with the addition of FLHR, I'm thinking I'll have my bases covered. Thank you for helping me decide on the 103 ci GixerFoo - and yes, I'll be installing the Wood TW222 cam as per your suggestion. Owning and riding a Harley Davidson is fun, and I am looking forward to doing it all over again.
I put cyclorama 570-2 cams I'm my 2012 streetglide I bought new. Replaced everything in cam chest at 56k. 98.7 h.p. 116 ftlbs of tourque. Vance and Hines pipes. Great tune. 31 degrees of timing. Had to put in screaming eagle clutch with heavy spring. Didn't touch the top end. It's amazing. Good manners down low and nuts going up top. Valve springs rattle if you lug it. Still uses very little oil. Would like to do better valve springs. It's running so good I don't want to mess with it. Oh screaming eagle cam plate and oil pump. Better oil pressure now. Fueling lifters.
Well it’s a done deed. The wood TW-222 made a world of difference. I’ve went through a couple tanks of gas and I am very happy with the change. The map that they sent me from Vance and Hines was great. Not only more power and torque but I believe the engine runs much cooler, I could feel the difference.
So did you just add the cams to your tune to get it running and send Vance and Hines the map to tune if for you ? If so how did it run with the FP3 tune before V&H sent the Map
So I did the Woods 222 cams, 26000 miles 2015 road king. Replaced the cam tensioners, INSTALLED screeming eagle cam bearings, fueling racing lifters, rocker lockers. EXISTING V&H FP3 . V&H sent me a custom tune. Runs awesome. Just swapped out the big city thunder QQ baffles for the monster baffles. More logical for my bike as the QQ baffles do not fit the correct way in my duel exhaust. Going to have it Dino tuned for 400.00 and call it good. Also got the legend rear shocks and axeo front cartridges. OH MY GOD. Power and comfort. The bike I dreamed of getting the first time I bought it. There was wear on the cam tensioners. Also the Manufacturer put the lifters in backward, the oil slot was facing the wrong way on one head. Way to go, Harley Davidson.
Checkout the S&S MR 103 cam. I had this installed 2 weeks ago in the easy-start gear drive version. It made 108 torque staying above 105 from 2200-4200, & made 98hp with K&N filter & Freedom 2-2 pipes. Originally the bike made 70hp a massive 40% increase in power from a stock 103cu with the right cam change...
Those are impressive numbers, especially maintaining torque like that through that range of RPM. Cams are an awesome upgrade for any otherwise stock engine with exhaust, air cleaner and tune.
After watching this video and gaining a better understanding of what goes into choosing the right cam, I’m more than pleased with my decision. I didn’t want to tear down the motor or go bug bore kit. So I went with the Woods 222, and the bike dyno’d right on the money 112tq and 94hp. What a difference, the bike pulls through all the gears the torque is amazing. You don’t need horse power when you have torque. Even the guys at the speed shop smiled when he said for a “baby” cam he was impressed
It's amazing what just a straight bolt in wood cam will do, those are some awesome numbers! Everyone gets hung up on horsepower but the real story is torque, that's what makes it fun.
I have a 2013 Wide Glide 103 with Wood-222. It made it a new bike. I had a touch of head work, but nothing crazy, and I can basically can pick up rpms in any gear and pass without having to shift . You would have to lag the bike so bad you're doing damage for this cam to not be immediate screaming power on tap. It's perfect for a dyna which is much lighter than the bigger bikes and it's pulling the baggers extremely impressively.
Woods 222...I have a 2016 Road Glide Special with the 103HO...this help me out tremendously I have the D&D 2into1...Screamin Eagle Cone filter...brand new Transmission and Screamin Eagle Assist Slip Clutch basket...Screamin Eagle Tenioner...Man-O-War compensator...I should be a beast with the Woods 222 Cam 💪🏾🤴🏾
I put Woods 222 in my 103 when it had 50,000 miles on it. I live in the mountain west and high plains area. I also freshened up everything in the cam chest. I couldn’t be happier with the performance.
Thanks for posting, I have owned my 103 for a few years and I'm ready to tap in! I had a VH Big Radius and Arleness breather. Upgrading to Bassani B4, but after this review, I am with you on Woods 222...torn between S&S 570...but you help pinpoint from 20 options to 2. Thanks for the vid!!
Late reply but I’m hoping you read it. I eventually had the S&S 585 cam installed along with springs and goodies. My bike was really moving. That was done about 2 years ago. That motor went bad due to a failed primary chain that locked up and bent the crank and my primary case exploded. So on this particular bike it’s now getting a S&S T124 HC, looking forward to this one. But I purchased another bike with a 103 HO and I’m torn between Big Bore 107 Kit or actually doing another Cam installation. My builder wants me to got 574 this time. He’s also has a 107 Kit. But he said it’s up to me, he’s suggestion Cam and leaving my 103 alone since I was fortunate to come across a Low Mileage 103. It only had 1500 miles. I hope you reply me and my buddy always look forward to your knowledge and videos!
No problem, l have a lot of feedback on cs for the 96. I do have a video on the FuelPak and the Power Vison. I've worked with both units, both have highs and lows.
My pick is the Wood cam.....I ride all rpm ranges but stay in the curves more than on the freeway. Torque is what matters to me as it's what moves the bike...Thanks for the vid...I will have those cams.
Good choice! I like the Wood personally, it just has more power everywhere without the dips and valleys in the curve other cams have. Some people complain they are noisy, which they can since they have a lot of overlap to hold the valves open longer to get that power.
I ride a 2015 Road glide special. I bought it from Classic HD of Reading Pa. As the story goes...one of the owners had the bike built up for a "tail of the dragon" ride he wanted to go on. Beside a bunch of other upgrades, as the story goes, it has Andrews 57 cams installed. More apparent, it had a D&D 2 into 1 and a Performance machine freeflow intake...and I it was tuned (and I still have) the orange (outlawed) HD tuner it was tuned with originally and I also have a V&H fuelpak 3 that I bought to make adjustments to the tune when I made a change. The bike, as purchased, was insanely loud at first. I bought the quiet baffle from D&D but that only quieted in down so much. With the original baffle, it will easily peg the speedometer ...pulling hard all the way. With the quiet (louvered) baffle, it will hit 120 but it takes a bit longer ( I have a 3 mile strip of smooth highway I test it out on a few times per week in the summer)... My only complaint about the cam is that it's tougher to ride slow and I think it makes the bike loud (I've changed the pipes to a complete V&H dual system but that only decreased the power but it was still loud). With the perforated baffle it screams, it's plenty strong with the louvered baffle too...but it's still really loud. Is there a way to make a 103 quiet but pretty powerful and nice to ride at slower cruising speeds. I love my bikes power. It'll run with nearly anything but it's loud and a choppy when I'd like to go slow and quiet.
Finally!..Someone showing some love to the Twin Cams. Really appreciate the content. It's fantastic. Wondering if you could do a video of bottom end crankshaft servicing. Does it make sense to true up/bullet proof your bottom end crankshaft and crankcase before getting into a big top end build? Cheers.
If you were doing a complete case split rebuild l would do it at that time. If you're doing a top end kit for the street l wouldn't tear it down to do that. If you're racing it or you ride them really hard l could see tearing it down for that. I appreciate the support on the channel!
I have the S&S 570 in my’15 Ultra & absolutely love it. It really woke up this heavy bike. Also changed exhaust to d&d 2-1 fatcat and big sucker air cleaner and of course tuner. Is a blast to ride.
You've got a really good combination there, D&D exhaust perform very well! That S&S cam is a great cam for the touring bikes, you get that power right where you need it!
Just did the tw 222 cam in a 103 here in ny its away at the dealer for the winter cant wait to get it back. Only reason i went with the woods 222 is because of this guy. Thank u gixxerfoo
CycleRama CR570 is the best drop-in cam for a 103”...!!! It has even more area under the torque curve than TW222! It has gobs of low and midrange torque and will still let the engine rev to a higher RPM! Wes Brown has it figured out and their cams kick ass, take a look! Builders love it also and people with 222’s love the CR570 more......
That cam just has power all over the chart, it beats some of the cams out there that target top end only without losing the bottom end. It's pricey but well worth the extra money!
I was happy to see you focus on TQ and how and what you ride. A cam increases power but more importantly, it shapes power to your riding style. I have S&S 551 cams in my 2013 ultra limited because I almost always ride with a passenger and with all three bags stuffed to capacity. It's not rev-happy but my TQ is over 100 before 2,000 RPMs and carries all the way out to over 4,000. I would have liked to try the S&S 583 but I went with my dyno tuners advice since I feel he know much more than I do.
I just got a 2014 road king with the 103ho and a set of ho slip ons with a fp3 tune...and it's a big power and torque jump for me at the moment..I came from an 01 Rk with a stage 1 ..so I'm gonna just wait till I "grow " out of this set up and then I will go to the woods cam...from what I heard you say i like what it does.
It's a really impressive all around cam in my opinion, it gains way down low over stock and carries up into the RPM range. Plus with your FP3 you'll be able to easily get a tune for the cam.
I run the fueling 543 cams and I love them but it helps to have a 95 inch from an 88 inch with 10.5 to 1 comp. ported heads ,a Thunder header, a 42 Mikuni ,and a 6 speed. my bike is an 02
I have a '09 with a 103, SE heads, forged flat top pistons, Feuling cam chest kit with 525 cams, SE Race tuner. Runs great with great torque that doesn't quit.
Sir, Thank you for this video. I almost upgraded my 2011 ultra limited with screaming eagle cams. After watching this video, I went for the wood performance TW222 cam shaft. This was the best thing I cohld have done. My harley had the screaming eagle stage 1 with RC excalibur exhaust pipes. The sound bevame deeper and louder with the TW222 cam shafts. I also change the cam plate and oil pump with s&s brand. Now, she roars and move with a purpose. Thanks again!!
@@GixxerFoo And I forgot to mention that it already had a variable press clutch. Literally had to re learn how to manage the frictiom zone for slow turns. Absolutely love it!!!!!!!
As per your video on the TC88, I added the S&S 509c cam chest kit to my 2003 Roadking. That made 2 up riding a good experience over stock for sure. I'm currently looking at a 2014 Fatbob that's already a beauty with a Vance & Hines stage one . I think I'll go with the Wood 222 if I pick up this bike. I'm already drooling.
I did install the S&S 585 Easy start cam and wow what a boost in power! Also the starter turns over the engine much easier than it did with the factory cam! You wont go wrong installing the 585! You will unleash the power that’s in your bike!!
The 585 easy start cam is one of the cams I’m thinking about putting in my 2014 Heritage. What kind of hp and tq are you getting and where on the power band do you feel it?
Maybe in the future I might consider a cam for my 103. If so, and based on this good info you bring and my riding, the Woods is my choice too. Thanks for the video!!!
I have a 2013 FLHTK Ultra Limited with the 103, after watching this video, I went with the S&S 570 cams and It was perfect for those cruising and romping on it here and there. It also gave me exactly the lope I was looking for! Appreciate the video as it did help me choose which cam to go with!
installing the S&S 570, cam plate and oil pump tonight 2015 103 HO street glide special bought new 36,000 miles. Looks like new inside finishing tomorrow. Cant wait to light it up
I went with Star racing Tork Star 577 for my stock 103. 577 Lift, 32 IVC, 224 x 248 TDC Lift .120 x.166 Going with a good open air cleaner and the d&d fatcat exhaust. Can’t wait to see how it does compared to the great cams you reviewed
I had cyclorama 570-2 put in 98.7 h.p. 116 ftlbs tourque. Freaking awesome. 6th gear pulls like 4rth gear. Still as good manners like stock cams at 2k rpm
I bought my 2015 SGS 103 twin cam used and it has the D&D Fat cat 2 into one the Screaming eagle heavy breather and the Power vision tuner. I do not know what cams are in it but the local Harley shop was doing free dyno runs "so they could tell you what they could sell you to make more power" I took a chance and when I was shown the numbers was surprised . it made 88HP and 104 ftlb torque. the Service guy shook his head and said I can't do much for you with out more money than you will want to spend "He was right". I wish I knew what cams are in it but the one good thing is my brother has the same bike except he has the Harley tuner and stock cams. I walk him hard on the highway roll ons to 110 MPH. No matter what gear he is in. I was thinking it was a 255 but think it must be more aggressive than that. Thanks for the info!
That sounds about right for a dyno day at a dealer, the D&D is a very strong exhaust too. I am really surprised it was 88HP, have you had it tuned on a Dyno or did you use a canned map with autotune?
I would imagine there is a lot of power left in there that a good tuner could pull out on a dyno. A qualified dyno tuner can take a stock bike and find some hidden power.
I had a Dave Macky 575 cam with S&S lifters and a racing tunner. In my 103 twin cam. At 4000 rpm it feels like its got kicked in the ass and really pulls very hard to 6 grand. I love it. Do not have to drop a gear on freeway to pass. Pour on the throttle and it puls hard in 6th gear at 2300 rpm.
I put the S&S MR 103 cams in my 2012 Road King. They are 585 cams. I’m getting 101hp and 111 lb-ft. Vision tuner, Roland Sands air cleaner and Cobra powerflo 2 into 1 exhaust. It’s amazing power for a 103.
I'd definitely go aftermarket on my 110se. I just haven't decided on the cam yet for my slim s. Hope you make a future video on cams for 110s. Always great videos watching from Upstate Ny
Hey bud. Great video. Helped me choose a cam for my 2013 103 Street Glide. Leaning toward the S&S but any of these cams is a huge bump in power. Almost hard to believe. MP
Thank you! Just a cam swap with a good aftermarket cam, exhaust and tuned on a dyno they make more power than a entire Screamin Eagle big bore kit. S&S makes a nice cam and I really like that easy start option which eliminates the need for compression releases. S&S even uses the easy start cams in their high horse, high compression crate engines.
I just ordered the fueling oe camplate /oil pump 525 reaper cams.....i was going to go gear drive but didnt pull the plug...i had the camplate hydraulic conversion kit..the runout was too much on my tc 88...then i swapped motors with a screamin eagle tc103 ....oil pump took a dump few fays ago...im excited to see how this setup will do me..!!
I chose the S&S MR103 easy start cams, a .585 lift, the MR stands for medium range. It seems to be a good match. The advisor at S&S assured me I don't need to change anything like valve springs or port and polish the heads($950 for that!). The dynamometer showed 98hp at 110 lbs of torque, not bad. I think people overlook S&S due to them being so well known and probably think they are too old school and conservative. There R&D probably is top notch and are truly a proven company. I also changed to an S&S cam plate and oil pump setup, and have the V&H FP3 tuner.
Did you have to grind the crank boses for clearance do to the 585 lift? I went to install my S&S ms103 on 4.8.2022 and the cam lob hits the bose on the crank. Need to grind some off, not exactly what I wanted to do.
@@michaelbrooker1763 Yes Michael, the MR103 is a medium range cam, .585 if I am not mistaken is the highest lift you can install with stock pistons. No doubt I made a good choice.
Damn...i keep heading woods 777..woods 777....i originally last year bought the s&s 574....s&s big bore screaming eagle crank n a power vision tuner...well . Got screwed over on the whole build and ended up trading all that for the screaming eagle 103 t.c.... now im fumping the money in the fueling kit with 525 reaper ..n then seeing the woods numbers making me wisdom life right now... good vid
Wood makes a hell of a cam, but they are noisy due to the ramp angles and how fast they nose off on the lobes. The Feuling cams makes excellent power and they aren't noisy so that's a serious benefit.
Friday night . 1 shot of Honey Jack for every time I heard the word “CAM”. 5:36 into the video I was naked in front of the neighbour’s house red lining my electraglide…..wtf?!
Wood cams really run strong, all their cams pull really hard and gain over stock in every rpm range. A lot of independent shops that develop their own big bore packages include a Wood cam.
Nice video, you've shown plenty of cam choices and HP/TQ figures. Personally I love the fueling 574, pulls harder that a 15yr old boy after a Taylor Swift concert.
😄😂 nice... lol yeah it really depends on which power curve you like best and fits the way you ride. Peak horsepower and torque aren't all there is to choosing a cam. If you go with the peak numbers alone you risk losing out on a lot of power where you ride the most.
do you have chain drive? and are you getting the full potential off these reaper 574s? im looking for the same cam, but dont know what parts i need and also what parts for light head work, clutch and throttle body . i have a stock 2017 dyna 103 fxdb. im going for gear drive
I am running with V&H Power Duals and Monster Rounds, SE Open Air filter, and I recently installed the Woods Performance TW-222 Camshafts and SE Cam Plate and oil pump. I have FP3 tuner with provided map with hardware installed and really enjoy the power and torque today!
Gday from Australia, gotta say, really enjoy your content and now shopping for a tw-222 woods cam. I'm no racer but every now and then like the blast of a torque monster. I've got a 2015 Road king classic Rushmore High Output with Big Screaming eagle slip ons, Big sucker air intake, Power commander 5 and Cat-less power headers. Screaming eagle performance spark plugs and wires, (Plug Leads). I think the tw-222 Wood cam and a new map will really suit what Im after. Fingers crossed. Look forward to more content. Cheers! Happy new year mate. regards Craig
Thank you! Being down under you get to ride all year round, right now I am looking out the window at snow on the ground. Sounds like you've got a great setup to build on, the 222 is really hard to beat for the all around performance. That cam in my opinion blows its competition away and you don't lose bottom end for top end or vice versa. It will feel like a brand new bike with a cam swap!
The same is true of the TC 96. My ‘07 FXLR really came alive after I installed the FUELING 543 Cam Chest Kit. I’ve owned all 3 TC engines and really like the 96 for all around performance and balance when staying basically stock. The problem I have with SE cams is they use induction hardening on the lobes and I’d rather have a solid bar stock hardened bump stick for longevity.
Definitely the wood bolt in!! I had no idea that just a cam switch could make such a big difference in HP and torque!! I have a 96" twin cam with a stage 1 set up. Does WOOD make a good drop in cam for my 2011 wide glide? Thanks for the great video brother!!!! 🤘🤘
Not that l am aware of, the bikes do as the name implies and they start very easily. They make great power and they don't kill the valve train. S&S does a lot of R&D and they stand behind what they advertise.
I've got my bike getting s&s570 cams and powervision tune today to match up with my tbr comp s 2 into 1 and 15" arlen ness front rotor and rear rotors for braking power. Cannot wait!!!
That's exciting, it's gonna feel like a whole new bike when this is done! Your bike is gonna need those brakes after that cam! Let me know what numbers your bike cracks off!
Hey GixxerFoo, I went with the Woods 222 cam. Bike is running strong and feels good only thing I noticed is the RPM’s shoot up really quick 1st -3rd! Almost immediately need to shift 1st gear! Kinda need to speed shift. I do run the bike hard. Just wanted to know if that’s normal for these kinda cam installs or is there something going on in the motor. Please advise! 👍🏼
That's normal for that cam, they come on real strong in that area. On the dyno graph it takes off hard in a climb with power production in that rpm range.
So what is your thoughts on the andrews 57h cam? I was looking at the tw 555 and got suggested the 57h by a guy that use to dyno bike and by V&H as they said they had a lot of maps for them. One thing I like that the dyno guy told me about the 57h cam was it has a lot less valve train noise due to the it is ground on the back side of the lives.
Andrews actually makes the cams for Wood, but they are ground to Wood specs. Andrews 57H is a solid cam, you can't go wrong with Andrews or Wood. There are more maps out there for the Andrews as they seem to be much more well known.
Hey GixxerFoo, Im torn between the Woods & the S&S. I have a 14 SGS with Bassani true Dual, Arlen Ness Big Air sucker and an FP3 tuner. I love hot dogging it on the streets and I do a lot of freeway riding. Any recommendations between the 2? Also I noticed the S&S 570 cams are always followed by a letter. Which one is in this review? Thanks, keep up the good work!
For me with a touring bike I would have to with the Wood TW-222, that cam's power is just so broad and it works very well with the heavier bikes. Best thing to do though is really watch your riding habits to make sure the cam you like makes power in the RPM range you ride.
This is great to see, I have a 2015 SGS with a Arlen Ness Big Sucker, FP3, and Bassani 2 into 1. It pulls really well, but I just want to wake it up a little more. Looking at the TW 222 , and put some new shocks all the way around. Thanks for a great video, very helpful information!
I just ordered woods 222 cams and a set of fueling racing lifters. Also a set of Rock outs Rocker shaft inserts, Screaming Eagle high pro inner cam bearing set. Legend AXEO Suspension Fork Springs
For touring bikes the Wood TW-555 or the TW-777 are excellent choices, high torque and great horsepower. The TW-555 is a good choice if your keeping the heads stock and just running pipes, air cleaner and a good tune. Now TW-777 is a better option if you plan on doing some head work and bumping compression later on. Both cams are a straight bolt in so you won't have to worry about valve springs or anything else.
The wood cam 522 I think you said. I have a 103 high output fat Bob Vance and Hines shorts the bigger breather. Although I would like to think about the SNS 570. I have a mic in easy Rider take a look if you wish 1991 April. John Tanner. I think you are the best at explaining everything and if you do make a mistake once in a great while it pops up right above you and says what you meant. You’re the best keep doing what you’re doing we all appreciate it
What other bits did you install (other than gaskets)? Did you keep the original pushrods or leave the heads on and cut out the pushrods and put in adjustable pushrods?
@@Jonathan-L usually do a winter project bike but did this instead. I Put it on the lift. Took off the board then exhaust. Took tubes loose n cut the pushrods out. Spark plugs out. Opened up cam chest. Pulled bearings. Installed new bearings. Kept lifters. Installed new cams. Took plenty of time..checked n rechecked timing . Installed adjustable pushrods with cover off to mark tdc.buttoned back up. Turned over by hand several rounds to make sure clearance was right. Download from VH for FP3 4 pin twomaps.fired up. Chattered a little until lifters filled. Fuel Moto parts and bearing tools. Total project less than 800. Hope it helps. I do recommend fuelmoto and their vids
@@jongray9342 Thanks Jon, that was most helpful. I'll probably contact Fuel Moto, as I want a 'package', ie cams, pushrods, gaskets & anything else. I'm not sure when, it could be sometime in 2021, but for the time being I'm not riding much in the summer heat here in Australia, and my next purchase will be a new rear tyre, so will spread the cost out a bit. I do envisage that a cam upgrade will have me consume more rear tyre wear, so that's the price I expect to go with the cam job :)
Yeah that's very true, it's the same cam that comes in the SE high compression stage kit. It really makes some power when you bump that compression up.
Great Vid…very detailed I don’t even have a 103, but was hooked for the entire video. Would you be as kind to run through the same info regarding the 110 SE twin cam. If you’ve already covered it in another video please direct me to it. I get good info from the Forgotten Cam video on the 110, but it was not specific to the various cams that bolt in and the power gains realized from each. Look forward to hearing and seeing the vid.
Thank you, I appreciate it! I do have one other video on the 110, it mainly covers what the SE stage kits can do with them. Biggest thing on the 110 is adding compression th-cam.com/video/R544QkfXX3w/w-d-xo.html
I came back to watch this video again after 2 years and I can see in my comment that I was leaning towards a Woods Cam. What I did instead was replacing the Camplate and the Oilpump with a Feuling high torque Camplate and a Feuling High pressure Oilpump + of’course Torrington needle bearings. Then I went with an S&S 575 Cam kit with new S&S Hydraulic lifters and adjustable S&S Pushrods, made my own external Top-vent in connection with a S&S Teardrop Air Cleaner Kit. It runs and pulls like a Train absolutely NO problems and that emphasizes using quality ALWAYS pays out…, I have 50 years of riding and building experience… NEVER EVER go with cheap Eastern Engine parts if you call yourself a biker/builder…then you can look yourself in the mirror with good conscience and pride 👍🏻🇺🇸✊🏻☠️😉
You absolutely did the right thing right there going with top quality parts and not skimping on anything! Yes it cost more up front, but what's that cost compared to a failure on something that was cheaped out on when it wipes your expensive parts. The benefits far out weigh the little bit of savings on cheaper parts.
I was looking at the Andrews 48H. really close to the woods you mentioned. That S&S looks really good too... My local Harley dealer charges 1600 dollars in labor for a cam swap....lol
1600?? Is that just for the labor?! Andrews makes cams for Wood, but those cams are built to Wood's specs. Andrews 48H is an awesome cam too, they are really hard to beat.
@@GixxerFoo Yes, just for labor..... cyclerama here in Florida is no better... they quoted me over 2k for their cam installed and tuner license. total rip off
Ok I think you talked me into the woods 555 however my only concern is it's a 2012 RG with 63,000 miles?the compensator has been replaced, and just did the rocker lockers .
Performance parts are always a risk, but if the engine is clean running and everything is tight l wouldn't be too worried about sliding a cam set in there and going on down the road. I wouldn't be drag on racing on it but just keep doing what got the bike to 63K.
Running them in my 16 street glide and love them I called and talked to a lot of engin builders around in nc and that was what they all about told me to run
Like he said how are you going to ride your bike and what kind of bike do you have. That zipper would be great for a touring bike but maybe not for your dyna Street hooligan so do the resurgence before you pick how you tune and let someone sell you something you're not going to like. There are many who will try to get you to buy something that doesn't fit your style of riding so do your own research then you can talk to friends dealer or tuner and have some idea if they are telling you the truth.
Awesome video man. And I subbed. I've got a 2011 roadglide custom came with a 96 ci I upgraded to a 103 put 255 se cams ,push rods , vh head pipe, khrome werks 4.5 hp+ mufflers and heavy se breather. Made a huge difference
Just bought a 2014 Dyna. Did pay $1700 for 3 year warranty but should cover everything else. That wood cam is gonna be my first mod!! The bike already has V&H pipes, windscreen, quality bars, and tuned ofc.
I have a 103 with my Road Glide i bought used from a small dealer in Texas. I love the motorcycle throttle response. But I don't know what cam is in the bike. It could be stock but has really good pull in normal rpm range.
Only way to really know is pull it down and have a look, you could look at the intake valve opening and closing timing which would tell you if it's stock or not but not exactly what cam it is.
I just had the screaming eagle 255 cam installed on my 2015 Road glide 103. It’s pretty impressive but now that I’m watching this video I’m thinking to myself if I made the right choice.
What cam set would you choose for your Twin Cam?
I went with the Woods 555 Power vision, Target tune Basanni 2-1 pipes. Very Happy
Went Andrews 57h in my 103b. No dyno numbers but night and day difference seat of the pants. Sounds much better than stock too which is a bonus.
Andrews 57 h
Heck yeah! What do you think of that target tune? It's a pretty hefty investment.
That's a really nice cam, Andrews came are high quality and they perform well. I love the lope of a high lift cam.
I may have said this before ,sorry if I'm repeating myself ,but this is just a out standing Channel.
Thank you, we appreciate it!
Put a .585 cam in my 103, it made a huge difference in power, did all the work myself...If you do it yourself, jusr make sure you use the quickie adjustable pushrods, easy job to do, and nothing but horsepower and enjoyment
Did you do any head work? I'm looking into .585 cams on my 103

I’m a H-D master mechanic with 27 yrs. Experience. I run the fueling 543 “freeway flyer” cams in my 95” TC. In my humble opinion these are the best street cams you can put in your Twin Cam. Look up the specs and I think you’ll agree! They supply the torque and horsepower where most people ACTUALLY ride and need it
What I’m running in my 95”. I’m considering the S&S 570 in my 2012 RG ultra
Yes, 543 in my 103 i was impressed.
Finally bit the bullet and went ahead with woods 222 cams, man what a difference it's an absolute pleasure to ride my 103 FLHTCU now, the idle lobes are just awesome.
Thanks, Gixer your video inspired me to go ahead with Woods 222.

do you have dyno numbers? I'm ready to get the 222 also
Would you change anything if you did this again? Or is it good. .--i have a 2015 103 ho.. just wondering.. Phil
Love the 222 in my 13 Road Glide! Woods is the only brand I recommend when people ask my opinion
Was wondering if you do much 2 up riding and was wondering what kind of difference this cam has made . Thanks Rick

With a Wood cam it really take advantage of that bit larger displacement of the 103!
@@GixxerFoo Purchased the Road King today. :o)
Is it Louder than before ?
So did you just add the cams to your tune to get it running and send Vance and Hines the map to tune if for you ? If so how did it run with the FP3 tune before V&H sent the Map
Did you have to change to adjustable pushrods
Way to go, Harley Davidson.
took mine to a dyno and got 8 more HP and 9 more ftb or torque over the V&H map
Checkout the S&S MR 103 cam. I had this installed 2 weeks ago in the easy-start gear drive version. It made 108 torque staying above 105 from 2200-4200, & made 98hp with K&N filter & Freedom 2-2 pipes. Originally the bike made 70hp a massive 40% increase in power from a stock 103cu with the right cam change...
Those are impressive numbers, especially maintaining torque like that through that range of RPM. Cams are an awesome upgrade for any otherwise stock engine with exhaust, air cleaner and tune.
@@GixxerFoo that thing just dropped right in with no other parts?
Thank you
Thanks. You know anything about the woods 222 cam?
For the 117ci SE kit
Did the cam made your bike Louder ?
@@julienbourassa253 I don't believe they will make the bike any louder. They may change the idle sound a bit but for the better with the high lift.
Thats my choice also.Hope it wakes my 2014 Pig up also.

I put Woods 222 in my 103 when it had 50,000 miles on it. I live in the mountain west and high plains area. I also freshened up everything in the cam chest. I couldn’t be happier with the performance.
Being in the mountains you need that grunt!
Glad I could help, thank you for watching!
I put in the S&S 583 bolt in Cam in my 2012 Softail Slim. Man it's got power everywhere any RPM any Gear . Love it !

Please do more on the 96”. I’d like to learn more about tuners and cost to tune also. Great videos!!
No problem, l have a lot of feedback on cs for the 96. I do have a video on the FuelPak and the Power Vison. I've worked with both units, both have highs and lows.
Second this. Cams for 96

Cams are a great start, there's some aftermarket big bore kits l'll be covering that will really make them sing.
Thank you for explaining it right to the point and showing the graphs! Best cam video! I think I’m going w Woods 222
Did I get the woods 222? How do u like it?
Did u get it?
Totally agree
@@GixxerFoo I was considering the S&S 551. Any thoughts on that?

That Wood is an awesome all around cam, especially in the 103 and it bolt in too!
Just did the tw 222 cam in a 103 here in ny its away at the dealer for the winter cant wait to get it back. Only reason i went with the woods 222 is because of this guy. Thank u gixxerfoo
Not a problem at all, it's an excellent all around cam!
@@GixxerFoo what size woods cam should I use?
It's tough to beat that TW-222, it produces serious power with the stock compression and stock heads.
Been looking at the Woods NW222 and I think this vid sealed it for me. It puts the power right where I will use it.
That cam just has power all over the chart, it beats some of the cams out there that target top end only without losing the bottom end. It's pricey but well worth the extra money!
I have a Woods TW 555 on my 96 twin cam, klock werks exhaust pipes, K&N Venturi air cleaner and it's been Dyno tuned @ 97hp and 102 torque.
That's the perfect cam for how you ride your bike. Especially riding two up loaded down, you don't have to hammer on the bike hard.
@@GixxerFoo I no longer need to downshift when in the mountains which is where I spend the majority of my time riding.

It's a really impressive all around cam in my opinion, it gains way down low over stock and carries up into the RPM range. Plus with your FP3 you'll be able to easily get a tune for the cam.
@@GixxerFoo thx...I will remember this
FP3 works really well with cams, Vance & Hines tech support will help you get dialed in if you have any issues too.

Oh definitely the 95 and some compression really goes a long way, that shorter stroke makes a nice stop light to stop light motor.

@@GixxerFoo started with a canned map but have run the auto tune a couple of times. I need to find the dyno sheet.
I would imagine there is a lot of power left in there that a good tuner could pull out on a dyno. A qualified dyno tuner can take a stock bike and find some hidden power.
Just had the 222 installed. Holy cow that thing wants to pull the front wheel every time I shift.
I hope my motor stays together. 🛵
Nice! With 222 it shouldn't be a problem, it's got a nice ramp.angle and it's not brutal on the valve train.
That's awesome! It's amazing what just a cam swap will do on those motors!

I'd definitely go aftermarket on my 110se. I just haven't decided on the cam yet for my slim s. Hope you make a future video on cams for 110s. Always great videos watching from Upstate Ny
I’m thinking about zippers 587 cams.
All these cams will fit right into a 110, they will really take advantage of the increased displacement.
That's a nice cam, it's hard to go wrong with Zippers!
My 2016 street glide special is in the shop now….I went with the S&S 570 cam swap. Hope it produces the power I’m looking for.
That's a really good setup! Sounds like you're doing everything right on this build!
That's awesome, S&S makes some awesome products. You really scored some killer numbers with that cam!
Did you have to grind the crank boses for clearance do to the 585 lift? I went to install my S&S ms103 on 4.8.2022 and the cam lob hits the bose on the crank. Need to grind some off, not exactly what I wanted to do.
Do you still like the MR103 cams mate? If you had to do again would you select them? Did you stay with standard compression
@@michaelbrooker1763 Yes Michael, the MR103 is a medium range cam, .585 if I am not mistaken is the highest lift you

Wood makes a hell of a cam, but they are noisy due to the ramp angles and how fast they nose off on the lobes. The Feuling cams makes excellent power and they aren't noisy so that's a serious benefit.

The 255 is a good mid range torque cam, Harley cams aren't bad but the aftermarket cams make some impressive gains.
If I install a wood performance tw-222 cam. Would I have to upgrade my clutch on my 103 HO engine.
Not unless you're beating on the bike, if you're just cruising with a short burst to feel the power you're good.
I wish I saw your video prior to buying SE Camshafts. Wood Cams seems to be the one to use. Really good video and details. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Would you please make videos like this for both the 88 and 96 and maybe even touch on the S&S crate engines
Will do, l have been wanting to cover the aftermarket engines available out there. Sometimes that's a better option than a rebuild.
@@GixxerFoo I was looking into that also....The T111 S@S crate motor will bolt right into my 2012 FatBob
Did the Wood Performance Knight Prowler TW-222 Cams change-out and I'm delighted with the results. Thanks for the information GixxerFooooooooooo!~
Great to hear! That is one awesome cam that will truly transform a bike!
Thank you for confirming my Woods cam choice, I was on the limb until seeing your assessment and this winter this is the way to go for me
Wood cams really run strong, all their cams pull really hard and gain over stock in every rpm range. A lot of independent shops that develop their own big bore packages include a Wood cam.
I went with the Bobby Wood TW222. Mr. Wood is quite an interesting person, with a great story of how he got a Lear Jet out of Columbia.
I am running with V&H
Power Duals and Monster Rounds, SE Open Air filter, and I recently installed the Woods Performance TW-222 Camshafts and SE Cam Plate and oil pump. I have FP3 tuner with provided map with hardware installed and really enjoy the power and torque today!
Wood cams sound awsom
It produces some serious power all over the rpm range, they did a hell of job in design.
S&S 570 is good but I'm rocking a S&S 585 on my build 88CI punched to 107CI
Holy crap a 107 with an 88 and a 585 is gonna be mean! What crank are you running?
@@GixxerFoo 4"stroke Dark horse with Carrillo rods and CP pistons
Very nice! I bet that bike hauls ass!
@@GixxerFoo it should
So your telling me that my 2016 limited low has in it already has a 511 lift in it already cool thank you for the knowledge
Do both the 88 &96 inch. If you make them, we will watch them.
👍 l will get on it, l wasn't sure how much interest there would be on those two motors. There's been quite a bit!
The 2015 street glide special NON cvo has the 522 as stock cams.
That is true 👍. The touring bikes with the 103HO did get a cam centered around more torque for the extra weight and different exhaust system.
This is a great channel, great job.
Thank you! I appreciate that, l really wanted to create a channel where all that information is in one place.
Oh yeah the Wood 222 is an awesome cam for the 96 and it doesn't require any springs or anything.
fueling 525, have one in my RK.95" at the time they didn't have a 550 just 525,575, 605 good cam and does make a difference.
Cams can really produce some power, a lot of times that's all anyone needs.
Hey GixxerFoo, what's your take on the S&S 'Easy Start' cams? Any downsides with these?
On the dyno graph it takes off hard in a climb with power production in that rpm range.
thanks gixxer foo i love hearing about the 103
Great info.
Woods is my option.
Cheers.
Thank you! Thay Wood cam is really impressive, it gains all over the power band.
Installed Zipper RS 528 in my 2014 103HO,Wow what a difference in power I have now.
Zippers makes a dang good cam, I can imagine it was like a whole new bike!
TMan 555 or S&S 541
96ci, air cleaner, TM tuner, catless headers 4.5” slip ons w/baffles. I ride within 2000-4500 rpm
Hello I have 2014 103ho ultra limited what cam would you recommend?
You’re the best keep doing what you’re doing we all appreciate it
Did the tw222 on a 2013 flhx at home. Called VH they sent two new FP3 maps for the 4 pin.. fab torque 2300 to 4500.. hang on..thanks for the vid.
That's awesome, I really like Vance & Hines maps. A lot of people knock that FP3 but I think it's awesome tuner and V&H will get you taken care of.
@@Jonathan-L oh base set up is de- catted hd head pipes, 3.5 open slip ons and stage 1 VH intake.
SE 259 cam produces a lot more HP with more compression...it needs 10.5 to 1
Yeah that's very true, it's the same cam that comes in the SE high compression stage kit.
You’re the real deal tiger 🐅
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I’m doing a S&S 103-107 big bore kit. Hoping for some good numbers when they’re done.
Awesome information, thank you!
I appreciate it, thank you for watching!
Leaning towards the Wood 222, seems like a great all-around cam.
It's a very well rounded cam, they are a bit noisier than the other cams but the power output is worth it.
@@GixxerFoo Yes, just for labor..... cyclerama here in Florida is no better... they quoted me over 2k for their cam installed and tuner license. total rip off
I would find a good independent shop! That's insane!
Wood the 103 HO, 🤔be the Rushmore bikes..🙄
The HO had a .511 lift cam, and the 103 l think had something like .486.
I believe so
Ok I think you talked me into the woods 555 however my only concern is it's a 2012 RG with 63,000 miles?the compensator has been replaced, and just did the rocker lockers .
Performance parts are always a risk, but if the engine is clean running and everything is tight l wouldn't be too worried about sliding a cam set in there and going on down the road. I wouldn't be drag on racing on it but just keep doing what got the bike to 63K.
S&s mr103
That's a strong cam, but really difficult to find data on.
Running them in my 16 street glide and love them I called and talked to a lot of engin builders around in nc and that was what they all about told me to run
Have you dyno tuned it and pulled any numbers?
@@GixxerFoo made 100 hp 112 torque with air cleaner tune and d&d boss fatcat
D&D makes a damn good exhaust, it makes some power!
You gotta read that fine print too, some are cams are designed for a heavy touring bike. You stick that in a light Dyna and it's gonna suck bad!
Awesome video man. And I subbed. I've got a 2011 roadglide custom came with a 96 ci I upgraded to a 103 put 255 se cams ,push rods , vh head pipe, khrome werks 4.5 hp+ mufflers and heavy se breather. Made a huge difference
Putting Red Shift 527 for more torque on my 103. Full Stage 2. Hoping I’ll like it.
It will be like a new machine, it will wake up for sure!
Definitely the woods...i have an 09 dyna with a 96" thats getting cams this winter....great info and video ...thanx
Right on! That's gonna really wake that bike up, just a cam alone does so much for a stock bike.
Just bought a 2014 Dyna. Did pay $1700 for 3 year warranty but should cover everything else. That wood cam is gonna be my first mod!! The bike already has V&H pipes, windscreen, quality bars, and tuned ofc.
Wood makes an awesome cam! I'd just make sure it doesn't interfere with your warranty though.
