    I have a 2016 SGS with a Tire Shredder (Stage 5) kit in it. It's a BLAST to ride, except for one thing....It runs HOT. I put an UltraCool 3.0 on it, and it still runs hot. But, I have left sport bikes at lights, and it took them a bit to catch up. I had a guy on a 103 based Softail tell me, "I knocked the pipe off my bike trying to keep up with you." (The muffler separated from the headpipe....) I was pulling against a buddy with a similar rig, going UP A HILL, and I let off at 110. He let off at 115. The thing has torque for days, except for the heat. I haven't noticed a difference in the clutch, even though the spring was upgraded. But, it has a hydraulic clutch, so that may affect it. It's not a Hyabusa, and I'm not saying it is. But, don't sleep on my Geezer Glide. I surprise a LOT of people with it.

    Considering how restrictive today's motorcycles are, I would say a stage 1 isn't just looks and sound. Considering it also has a tuner involved in a stage 1 helps with fuel vs air mixture. I think it's very desirable and can have a noticeable affect on your ride.

    When people say that Harley's are slow, they neglect two very important points:
    (1) Harleys are cruisers (yes, I know that not every Harley model was designed as a cruiser). Cruisers are meant to cruise and were never intended to be rice rockets. The same could be said for Harley's touring models. Thus, the PURPOSE of a Harley motorcycle needs to be taken into consideration before one lamely argues that it's not as fast as bikes made by Japanese motorcycle corporations.
    (2) The various Harley stages or upgrades can make the engine much faster and performance oriented than the stock engine. Although it will never be as fast as the latest street bike from Kawasaki or Suzuki, it has a lot of torque and can move quite fast when it wants to. Granted, it may not go 180 MPH, but would you really want it to when one considers the tremendous danger of traveling at such a high rate of speed? If your intention in riding a motorcycle is to race around at highest speeds imaginable, then Harley motorcycles are not for you. Besides, do you actually want to enjoy the sights and smells of your environment or just blow past everything at 150 MPH?
    As in most things, the OBJECTIVE or PURPOSE of any particular motorcycle needs to be understood before criticizing it. In the case of Harley motorcycles, they were never intended to be street racing machines (with a few exceptional models). They were manufactured to be cruisers and touring motorcycles that were fun to ride and so that people could enjoy the best their travels would bring them.

      I had an old Honda Blackbird and it was fast and was comfortable about 30 minutes at a time. You have to be young and limber to ride a crotch rocket. They are hard on your wrists and neck. My old 93 Heritage Evo has a cam, Jim’s Hydrosolids and a S&S carb and you don’t have to worry about getting out of the way of traffic or passing. To each his own.

    • @ambrosekane2941
      @ambrosekane2941 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jetstream454 True, but even then they're still not as fast as the higher performance rice rockets. They must be seriously worked on to perform at such high levels. It places an enormous strain on the engine because such stock Harley engines were never designed for such power. It's quite costly too I might add. Most Harley riders are not going to upgrade their bike to such measures.

    I get it. I had a Hemi Durango for a while. It wasn't fast in the technical sense. @2:02 If you think these bikes can't be fast then you really need to get to your local drag strip and find out because its something that will blow your mind! The other cool newer thing is Big Wheel (Donk) racing! YOU REALLY HAVE TO SEE IT TO APPRECIATE IT BECAUSE IT BREAKS ALL THE RULES OF WHAT YOU WOULD IMAGINE A RACE CAR BEING! Awesome video man🔥🔥🔥

      I had an 88 in my 04 rk. I miss the carb, loved that sound and character. It was a great bike. The only thing that worried me was the cam chain tensioner. Could have upgraded that for reasonable cash but the Dyna fits me better so I changed the whole bike instead 🤷‍♂️

    I've been riding cruisers with beach bars ever since I started riding, then 7 something years later I took my buddy's Indian Chieftain out for a spin that had mini apes on it, and that was way more comfortable in my opinion. the closer the bars are to shoulder height, the more comfy it'll feel. Just so long as they're not above the shoulders lol

    I have a 2004 kawasaki zzr 100 (160 hp & 120 ft. lb.) and now a 2015 streetglide ( 145 a piece to the wheel), so it's not slow. The Harley also has Ohlins suspension. I would rather ride the Harley because it's more comfortable for 2 up distance riding and I can't come close to using either bikes limits

    Hey Sean I got one for you. I've got a 2007 Street Glide that was great until the dealership ran a special on upgrade kits so I sprung and got them to install the 103 stage ll kit which I painstakingly broke it in "exactly" how it's recommended. A hassle but no biggie after all I'd broke another 2cam in the same b4 with good results. Anyway eventually the rotor & the stator went out which the dealership replaced and after that I could no longer go on the church rides I enjoyed going on because after a stop my bike would have to cool down for 45min B4 it would turn over fast enough to start because for an unknown reason the compression was too high when hot. Then the steeler said I needed compression releases.They're fired! I wish someone would trade me a Evo Heritage for the StreetGlide.

    I put $22,000 Canadian into my 124 build. A 2014 Fatboy Lo (103 previous). I regret the build. It’s got 585 cams and the 10.2:1 pistons and puts out 116hp/138tq. I think a bike needs to be at that 160 square area to start having that “wow” factor… at least for me.

  • @Firestorm637
    @Firestorm637 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Engine mods are the most expensive mods. That is why buy the horsepower from the beginning from the factory. Less expensive to mod suspension. Even lighter, unsprung weight carbon wheels would be more cost effective as less weight helps handling, braking, and acceleration. Light weight lithium battery, lighter weight fenders, lighter weight TITANIUM EXHAUST. You can tell the difference between titanium vs other metals as the metal is the thinnest, more exhaust note.

    A stage 4 is for folks who roll in the 6k range. A stage 3 is for the rest of us. They do make more drive train noise over stock which is annoying. But a stage 4 roll on in 5th & 6th gear is pretty awesome.

    This is a Twin cam tho.. so some differences between that and the m8 motor and the capacity for power..
    My 107cu in M8 with cam , tune, catless head pipes, aftermarket oil pump etc etc
    105/115
    Man.. I wasn’t a huge fan of the m8 when I got my 2019 FLHR. LOVE LOVE LOVE Road Kings
    But I didn’t feel the same charm as the twin cam had. Yea it’s better than the twin cam but that TC sound and feel
    But holy cow the M8 has grown sooo much on me since I did the stage 2 thing
    It got the sound and it rips kinda hard but my car blows it out of the water but I’d not want to ride any other bike than a HD !!!

    My Dyna Low rider S has a full stage 4 twin cam 117 including heads, it makes over 120 HP and over 120 torque it’s an animal and way to fast, it will hang on to my mates BMW s1000r naked, I wish I had done a stage one which run smoothly and still fast, You don’t see or notice anything on a ride when you go fast, HD slow is much better.

    I have a 2018 street glide special with a stock 107 but I have a stage one upgrade on the bike instead of spending money and stages. Wouldn’t it be smart just to go straight to stage four or would it be a smarter plan to put a 131 in it, would that be a better option or would you get more power from a stage four kit out of a 107 or would it be equal to a 131?

    You know, I tested a bunch of well, a few Harley bikes as a really young pup. On the point of cams and rebreathers mostly. I’ve personally seen bikes that would do sub 4 0-60. I know it’s not the best but.... you must have longevity and comfort. If you’re a leather face , extremity is your thing... remove your corners, safety, and endurance... there ya go. Whatever the case. Riders, look out for riders. Hey, I’ll leave you with John 15:1.
