    This is unscrupulous mechanics removing the new part, putting the old part in the box, and then returning it to the parts suppliers. The returns are not inspected and put straight back on the shelf. The UK is not the only country that suffers from this thievery. The parts suppliers should check all returns, but half the time they are too lazy to check and it's the next mechanic that ends up suffering.

      Totally agree mate. Realistically, I should’ve checked myself but it’s one of them ones where you look at the box thinking it looks brand new- but it ain’t 💀😂

      Have had this 3 times this year from a large well known chain of car parts suppliers.
      The same car parts suppliers that recently changed their fleet of vans.
      The funniest one was a Bosch oil filter for a BMW, when opened it had a Crosland fuel filter

      Totally is or it’s one of those dodgy garages that want the money back from the part to basically make more money I once unboxed a trackrod end from lemforder and it was the original vw Audi one which also had a split in where they have sent it back to say me and my boss were happy bunny’s 😂

    Yep Euro car parts have a certain reputation , I think the problem is they don't retain experienced staff, but I have had old parts delivered from other suppliers aswell usually because they don't check returns, just put back on the shelf and garages are scamming them

    When I buy parts I check them on the spot in front of the seller, you wouldn't believe how many times they get it wrong, but in the same way I get the wrong parts always from the same sellers and most of the times they don't have the right part in stock, even if you say that you want to order they might even say it's discontinued, but if you go to the same store but further away they might even have the part in stock, sometimes it's negligence but others is definitely on purpose, sometimes they even overcharge so I also always check what the part costs and from what brand...

    Tip for stretch belts: fold up some cardboard to about 3/8 inch thick. As you turn the belt feed it into the pulley so it lefts the belt off. Can then lever the belt off with a screwdriver behind the cardboard as you turn. Works for fitting too 🙂

    As everyone states, check the parts and the condition of the packaging before leaving the store if collecting, or delivered! My brother had brand new brakes which I fitted, but one of the discs was warped. I had had checked everything, clean mating face on the hub, plus the hub. It was the Pagid disc, so I removed them to swap for another set. The guys at the store were questioning how we knew the disc was warped and placed them together saying they are flat! In the end they brought out an open set of discs saying they were the only ones in stock, which I didn't believe. This set was fine and the brakes were fine with no judder, and definitely not warped! There are other places I go to that can match or be cheaper the the 'carparts' place.

  • @EdgyNumber1
    @EdgyNumber1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Yeah, I got caught out on this but the thing is I now always check to make sure they have the right part for the model first before giving them the order then check box and labelling before leaving. They nearly got me the wrong version of oil filter, I needed an earlier one, and they gave me some random pressure switch instead of the required oil pressure switch.
    They're not brilliant. I use an indie parts supplier now, way more reliable.

    I hate using Euros and GSF, both have really gone down in quality over the last 10 or so. I don't know if you guys are old enough to remember a company called Unipart or before that PartCo, they were shocking sometimes. I've seen bent exhausts that have either been damaged or heated up and bent, old calipers reboxed and even oil filters that have obviously been fitted and someone decided it was wrong and put it back in the box. It even had teeth marks on it from the grips they'd used!!! 🤬🤬🤬
    Unfortunately it looks like Euros and GSF have started pulling the same tricks.

But you should name and shame them in your video if they are supplying bad parts then their head office might see the video's and provide them with better training.
    Hope you both have a great week ahead

    Unfortunately very common, probably a surcharge return from a customer that has been credited as a new unit not required that neither the driver or person checking off credits has bothered to check when parts come back. Staff are overworked, rushed and undervalued which leads to sloppy work and not following processes that avoid these problems, glad i am out of rhat side of rhe motor trade as it is brutal!

    Name the offender ! We’ll all need to be aware. To be fair if it’s ECP I’ve had good experiences in the main - unlike Autodoc who get it wrong consistently and with being remote are a proper pain in the A$$

    • @andrewlaw
      @andrewlaw 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've had the polar opposite. Used or wrong parts from ECP and correct parts from Autodoc. With Autodoc though I always use their chat facility and confirm the parts suitability via the VIN. They get back to you in 10 mins with the suitable parts.

    • @mrbigvanlife7130
      @mrbigvanlife7130 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@andrewlaw I have used Autodoc - their parts lists by reg and fairly consistently wrong parts - I don’t want a chat every time just order and get the parts. It’s an issue with them. ECP - I’ve relied on them quite a bit and not had issues personally - maybe my local branch are just on it.
