  • Today is a better, just like any day!
    **DISCLAIMER**
When we tested the Spark Plugs, it was not grounded. I am well aware of this. Next time I'll make sure to have it in video whilst it's still grounded; or just make sure I bring my tester. Thank you guys for pointing this out.
    **DISCLAIMER**
We almost got defeated by this 2015 Vauxhall Astra but we came back and we pulled through. Customer took their vehicle to a garage for a Full Service and MOT; they then found out that the vehicle was misfiring so they replaced the Spark Plugs and Coil Pack. One month down the line, their car would just intermittently start, and sometimes just conk out in the middle of the road.
Watch the video to find out what happened and how we fixed it!

Right. Thought I’d pin it here before everyone kills me.
Yes, I am aware that the Spark Plugs weren’t grounded in the video Obviously there will be no spark.
I thought I had the GoPro recording when I grounded the sparks, clearly I didn’t. I only had this clip to use so I thought I’d use it- clearly not a good idea. Won’t be making this mistake again.
Thank you for the comments guys! Hopefully you enjoy it regardless 😭😂

The problem was the wire connection inside they can not be soldered properly. And when the car heated up it expanded and the connection broke. And grew apart And when it cooled down it went back to original size and it reconnected. It could have been the width of a hair and it would stop it working.

Why are you doing manual analog readout of the cam and crankshaft sensor?
The Ecu trips generic and/ or specific fault codes if anything is wrong with signal inputs
Fyi, you can read out signal inputs directly trough the engine control module.🤔
Also you didn’t ground the spark plugs when you did the ignition test out of engine mate, without a ground you can never have spark…

The spark needs some where to go. Otherwise your ignition system is producing all that voltage and it cant discharge it. Most of the time you might get away with it, but with modern sensitive electronics it’s definitely a good idea to make sure the plugs are grounded when testing.

Garages do have a lot to answer for ripping off people. I've been too so many customers who garage did this and that and they couldn't find an issue and I find it and fixed it when they couldn't find it or be bothered with it. Always a good feeling when I can fix their vehicle promptly and get an excellent review back too.

    • @iiTarboy
      @iiTarboy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

From what I've seen in the video the garage didn't rip anyone off 😂 they diagnosed the Astra with a faulty coil pack. Replaced the coil pack and charged the customer for diagnosis and replacement of new coil pack. Probably the garage wanted to save the customer some money therefore bought some "eBay special" coil pack for cheap and a month later it failed like most non genuine parts.

@@iiTarboyhe didnt say that particular garage ripped the woman off he was talking about the amount of work he has to fix because mechanics at certain garages cant be arsed doing work and or they arent trained enough to fix cars. Theres plenty mechanics on here all saying they have customers from miles away because they cant get their car fixed locally. I am one of them. Or they charge for work they havent done. It still is a rip off using cheap parts if they break after a few weeks. Buy good parts and charge accordingly or you will be callled back out to fix car when it breaks again.

Using the right torque is one of the main reasons people like you they just won't admit it. I like watching you do that it's fantastic.
It's like squeaky brakes after fitting new and they ask why do they squeak ?? It can be cheap or mixing and matching or the hub is out, but it can sometimes be because of the wrong torque on each slide pin and because of grease on the end of the pin. Big no a bad move as the grease on the end can put it out of sync as the grease has no way of moving out the way and will just make a wall of grease and no place to go.

Frustrating how many people, given the choice of a quality part or a part made by someone who rode to work on an ox, pick the crap part to save 30 quid....then the crap part fails and the garage sends in a warranty with a humping big labour claim that will be rejected. Nobody wins, just fit the OE/ OEM part EVERY TIME!!

Do you have a list of brands we should avoid (for the next video)? I have some cheap brands in my Honda Civic, like Kamoka and they are quite good.
I also have MaxGear parts and they are junk.

I take my car to garages because I want all the procedures following and torque settings used. It pisses me right off when stuff is not done properly. So its great to see you look this stuff up and do it properly.

This is just my guess, but based on where they live, size of their farm and Manor, I don’t think they’ll ask for the cheapest possible part. Then again, this is just my own assumption, some rich people can be very stingy with their money 😂
