thanks for your input mate👍 I have been sim racing for over 20 years back and forth. But never took the step up to some more high end gear until now. Such an awesome upgrade from my Logitech wheels (it's amazing how my old G25 still works actually, gonna give em credit for that)
Also a bunch of other reviews compare it to the DD1 and other more expensive wheels and as someone who is jumping from a g27 that perspective doesn’t do me any good. They all say it’s too weak and whatnot.

I have also ordered my CSL DD and it's due to arrive on the 8th of November. My buddy whom I race with already got his, so I asked him if I could try it. He also ordered it without the boost kit initially, but soon decided to get it. I tried it with and without the boost kit, and there actually is quite a big difference. You can feel quite a bit more detail in my opinion and you feel like you are more connected to the car. I did some laps on both with and without the boost kit, and my lap times around the Nurburgring in the R8 GT3 were consistently half a tenth to a tenth quicker with the boost kit. That being said, it might only have been pure coincidence, but I just had a little bit more confidence with the boost kit.

I recently tested out this exact base+wheel combo at my friends house (both of us also came from a G29) and my reaction was pretty much the same as yours. This thing is absolutely glorious, but sadly shipping costs are too high for me.
Yea. The Moza lineup is really interesting. Whould be nice to try them out in the future. My girlfriend need to upgrade from her G29 (my old one 😅) so maybe that is an alternative. And aslo I can test it out 👍
Just in case you didn't know, with most modern DD wheels you can set your in-game rotating angle to 900 degrees and also in the FANATEC software to 900. that will automatically match the cars angle to your wheel

I think 8Nm will be enough but I’m worried that after a while I’ll need more. I just can’t make up my mind. If I buy 8Nm and then upgrade to 15 that’s a whopping £1600. I’m not a big bloke and that’s making me think 8Nm will be enough.
This was a great raw review and reaction. I've been using a G27 for 8 years and plan to get the CSL DD very soon so this was extremely relevant to me. I'm looking forward to my own "..this is HOOHOOHOO!" moments lol.

Ohh thats wierd. I thought it was night and day. I used G25 for 15 years and had the G29 for about 3 years. So much more details coming throught and the smoothness and fast response of this DD is so different from the the g29.

Yea, I used tripples with correct fov in my old rig. Really awesome. Now I mostly race in VR soo the need for tripples is gone. But I would like a big curved ultrawide for the times I don't use VR. Good FOV makes a big difference 👍
I'm slowly building my 8020 rig with a VRS DFP, and the last piece (front mount) gets here in 2 days. With my main wheel being a g920 for the last 4 years, this video just made my little 2 day wait even longer. This video made my day, I like how you couldn't focus on driving, just wanted to feel and absorb the new experience. That's awesome, and now I'm going to refreshing my email and checking outside my doorstep every 10 minutes now haha

Nice. That is a big step up. I gotta say the DD+ is interesting but I really dont need to upgrade. Really pleased with the standard 8nm CSL DD. But who knows in the future. A simracing rig is as they all say: never finished 😅

Finally a review from someone else who is not already driving a direct drive. I'm also stepping up from the g29 and this is exactly the reaction.i was hoping for.
Finally good to see someone who reviewed the standard power supply for the entire video. For the most part everyone else has been doing both and just saying “the standard is great but the boost kit is just better” and proceeds with the rest of the video on the boost kit. My CSL DD with standard PSU should arrive in a couple weeks and I’m very excited and your video made me even more excited!

@@captainflatspot So I ordered mine last night right before I made my comment, by 8 am this morning their website update saying they had begun to actually process my order at the warehouse, within 2 hours around 10 am I checked again and it says they have completed processing my package, im assuming that means its now just waiting to be picked up by the shipping company(fedex) I will keep this updated for anyone interested.. I myself cannot wait for it to show up, im coming from a T300rs GT 3 pedal setup and conical brake mod, my order from fanatec includes the Gran Turismo DD wheel and base, 8 nm power supply and base pedals without the load cell as I've also ordered the Clubsport V3 Pedal set with the dampening kit and brake performance kit..its a lot of money but I have no doubt I'll enjoy every bit of it !
@@captainflatspot Soo here we are at 3:30 pm now the next day after placing my order, and only hours after my order was fully processed by the warehouse this morning I have received my e-mail with the tracking info and is scheduled to be delivered to me by the 20th of this month so about a week of a wait provided there are no hiccups during shipment..fingers crossed... Overall I'm extremely satisfied with how quickly they got to work on that as most online orders take days to process before they even start to package your items for shipment and if it's here by the estimated date I will just be that much more thoroughly impressed. I hope this info helps you decide if/when you're going to pull the trigger on getting your significant other her own !

@@captainflatspot I have a g920 and pedals, although I've modified the brake pedal so it's a lot stiffer. How has the last few days been like racing? Although I have ordered the 8nm boost pack lol probably destroy my shoulders as I've bad rotator cuffs 🤣
Allright 👍 sofar the racing has been awesome. Did some ranked raceroom yesterday without any practice and managed a podium. So no problem at all adjusting to this DD. Just with a bigger smile on my face 😅👍

Yea those recomended settings are a good start. Especially for me with no knowledge about fanatecs settings and modes. It gets you up to speed fast and you can start to experiment with the values to learn whats good and not.

I've been using the 8nm now for a while. And yes I recomend it. Big increase in power. I'm more than happy with its performance 👍

I think 8Nm will be enough but I’m worried that after a while I’ll need more. I just can’t make up my mind. If I buy 8Nm and then upgrade to 15 that’s a whopping £1600. I’m not a big bloke and that’s making me think 8Nm will be enough.

This was a great raw review and reaction. I've been using a G27 for 8 years and plan to get the CSL DD very soon so this was extremely relevant to me. I'm looking forward to my own "..this is HOOHOOHOO!" moments lol.

Don't waste your money on it. I also came from a G27 and expected a huge difference but instead was a huge disappointment instead.

Ohh thats wierd. I thought it was night and day. I used G25 for 15 years and had the G29 for about 3 years. So much more details coming throught and the smoothness and fast response of this DD is so different from the the g29.
2yrs later and i found a video with a guy with the exact wheel story pre fanatec as new. You have sealed the deal in me buying this.
Hehe Yea after so many years with the G25 and G29 its a weird nice feeling doing this upgrade as you are so familiar with the feel and forcefeedback of the the Logitech.
I'm going from a thrustmaster t80 to a g29, can't wait to experience the force feedback

@@handle1196 as long as you can use the pedals as a separate USB device it should work fine. I don't know about the thrustmaster pedals though.

Yea, I used tripples with correct fov in my old rig. Really awesome. Now I mostly race in VR soo the need for tripples is gone. But I would like a big curved ultrawide for the times I don't use VR. Good FOV makes a big difference 👍

I'm slowly building my 8020 rig with a VRS DFP, and the last piece (front mount) gets here in 2 days. With my main wheel being a g920 for the last 4 years, this video just made my little 2 day wait even longer. This video made my day, I like how you couldn't focus on driving, just wanted to feel and absorb the new experience. That's awesome, and now I'm going to refreshing my email and checking outside my doorstep every 10 minutes now haha

Nice. That is a big step up. I gotta say the DD+ is interesting but I really dont need to upgrade. Really pleased with the standard 8nm CSL DD. But who knows in the future. A simracing rig is as they all say: never finished 😅

Finally good to see someone who reviewed the standard power supply for the entire video. For the most part everyone else has been doing both and just saying “the standard is great but the boost kit is just better” and proceeds with the rest of the video on the boost kit. My CSL DD with standard PSU should arrive in a couple weeks and I’m very excited and your video made me even more excited!
Thanks mate. Yea I think everyone understands that the boost kit is better 😅 But even with the 5nm this is still a crazy good upgrade from my G29. I'm gonna run this setup for a couple of months. Then after saving up money for a round wheel I order that and the boost kit at the same time.

Yea I'm also interested in shipping times. Thinking of getting another one for my girlfriend. But the CSL DD pro as she plays GT7 on the ps5. And also doing some dirt rally and raceroom. And she really liked my DD. Just need to save up some more money 😅
@@captainflatspot So I ordered mine last night right before I made my comment, by 8 am this morning their website update saying they had begun to actually process my order at the warehouse, within 2 hours around 10 am I checked again and it says they have completed processing my package, im assuming that means its now just waiting to be picked up by the shipping company(fedex) I will keep this updated for anyone interested..
I myself cannot wait for it to show up, im coming from a T300rs GT 3 pedal setup and conical brake mod, my order from fanatec includes the Gran Turismo DD wheel and base, 8 nm power supply and base pedals without the load cell as I've also ordered the Clubsport V3 Pedal set with the dampening kit and brake performance kit..its a lot of money but I have no doubt I'll enjoy every bit of it !
@@captainflatspot Soo here we are at 3:30 pm now the next day after placing my order, and only hours after my order was fully processed by the warehouse this morning I have received my e-mail with the tracking info and is scheduled to be delivered to me by the 20th of this month so about a week of a wait provided there are no hiccups during shipment..fingers crossed...
Overall I'm extremely satisfied with how quickly they got to work on that as most online orders take days to process before they even start to package your items for shipment and if it's here by the estimated date I will just be that much more thoroughly impressed.
I hope this info helps you decide if/when you're going to pull the trigger on getting your significant other her own !
I've upgrade from a Logitech Momo to Logitech G920 and the change for me it was is huge. So I can only imagine the change to a Fanatec. Great video!

@@captainflatspot I have a g920 and pedals, although I've modified the brake pedal so it's a lot stiffer. How has the last few days been like racing? Although I have ordered the 8nm boost pack lol probably destroy my shoulders as I've bad rotator cuffs 🤣
Allright 👍 sofar the racing has been awesome. Did some ranked raceroom yesterday without any practice and managed a podium. So no problem at all adjusting to this DD. Just with a bigger smile on my face 😅👍

Yea those recomended settings are a good start. Especially for me with no knowledge about fanatecs settings and modes. It gets you up to speed fast and you can start to experiment with the values to learn whats good and not.

Hehe Yea that was night and day. Was planning on getting a belt driven wheel base to upgrade to. But then they announced the CSL DD about the same time I was planning to upgrade. Very pleased so far 👍
